When you're an outsider, you can break things [music] if you're right. Do you know that the wine industry would complain about wanting more people to be into wine, but then yet they would spend all their time being douchebags to anyone who wanted to get into wine? >> No industry grows by making people look stupid. >> Thank you. A very senior executive ran into me literally at Madison Square Garden and grabbed me and said, "Hey, you don't know me. We used to really make fun of you and we really thought you were kooky and an idiot and all this." And he goes, [music] "I had dinner with a bunch of my old pals, many in the C-suites of the biggest companies in the world. Somehow it got brought up and the punchline of that little 10-minute chat we all had was it makes sense [music] in hindsight took a complete outsider to actually disrupt our industry." When you're an outsider, you can break things if you're right. The reason it worked for me in this scenario in ad land was I knew the truth. It was that the industry was putting something on a pedestal that was subjective, not objective. And in business life, things have to get objective.
