[0:09] The 2026 Dodge Durango. If you followed [0:12] any of this brand's marketing, you'll [0:13] know that the V8 is back and they're [0:15] going to put it in everything that they [0:16] can. They're pulling it out of their [0:18] janitor's closets, their basements, you [0:20] name it, so you can have one. For '26, [0:23] the Durango now comes standard with it. [0:25] And if you get the RT 392 that I'm [0:28] sitting in, [0:30] you are getting the kitchen sink and [0:32] more power. It makes about 30% more [0:35] power and around 20% more torque, which [0:38] means you're pushing nearly 500 [0:40] horsepower and this thing is fast in a [0:42] straight line. And they're going to tell [0:43] you it's track inspired, which clearly [0:46] you're not going to take it on track [0:48] like we did, but I'm going to tell you a [0:49] few things about this. The main thing is [0:51] if you if you wanted a V8 in a three-row [0:54] SUV, you had to get your [0:57] the Germans to spend around $100,000 to [0:59] do so and then having about half of its [1:02] value eviscerated in 3 years. [1:05] The 392 RT starts at about $50,000. [1:10] And what you're getting here is you're [1:12] getting fully leather interior, full [1:14] leather accents, you're getting the [1:16] suede headliner, you're getting a really [1:18] good audio system, a ton of usable [1:20] space, and a known quantity. The Durango [1:23] has been out forever. Their V8 they've [1:26] been milking forever and [1:29] the thing is they've depreciated it. [1:31] They've depreciated this, the tooling, [1:33] everything to make the drivetrain, so [1:35] they can drive down the price. It's not [1:37] that they just magically lowered it. I [1:39] think they figured out how to package [1:40] this to give people what they actually [1:42] want is a fun three-row SUV that has the [1:46] space for kids, things, and it can [1:48] actually tow. We're talking around like [1:50] 8,700 lb of towing capacity. And to put [1:53] that in perspective, you know, some of [1:55] the bigger SUVs are pushing like 9,000 [1:57] lb of towing and you're getting a [1:59] a nearly sorted out as much as you can [2:02] get a sorted out Dodge with some [2:04] physical controls, things that they know [2:06] people want that you're not going to get [2:08] tired of having every single day. And [2:10] again, at that price point, that's why [2:14] you would consider this over so many [2:16] other vehicles that if you want some [2:18] character, you want to have a little bit [2:19] of fun, you want to have that V8 sound, [2:22] there's nobody else doing this and this [2:24] is what this brand is really good at. [2:26] And if they can sweat some of the detail [2:27] work of getting their quality back up [2:30] and some of their attention to detail [2:31] back where it needs to be, at this price [2:33] point, it's it's really unrivaled. So, [2:36] if that's what you're looking for, [2:38] you're going to love this. Jack and I [2:40] are going to take [laughter] this out on [2:41] track briefly and have kind of a fun [2:43] conversation and meaningless [2:45] conversation about what it's like to [2:47] drive. [2:48] >> [music] [2:51] >> Speaking of sponsors, here's a sponsor [2:52] for this video, Incogni. Are you [2:54] concerned about getting your identity [2:56] stolen? [3:51] So, with that, let's head back into the [3:52] video. [3:55] >> [music] [3:58] >> You hear that? [3:59] That's the [music] sound of America [4:01] creating building winning. [4:06] And that can never stop. We won't let [4:08] it. [4:10] Our muscle runs [music] deep. [4:17] >> Last time I was in this, [4:19] I did watch this thing drive away after [4:21] my third divorce. [4:23] >> Thank god Mike got a V8. [4:24] >> But I'm here with you now. Everything's [4:25] way better. [laughter] [4:31] >> [music] [4:35] >> Durango RT Mark 392 [4:38] 500 500 horsepower. It's got less [4:42] understeer than that up to we just got [4:43] out of. [4:45] Honestly, this thing hustles really [4:47] really well. [4:48] I was talking to poor Chris who can't [4:51] speak to us because he's in the back [4:52] seat. Oh my god, dude. [4:54] >> [laughter] [4:56] >> Hey, [4:57] I told you when I brought Joey to [4:58] school, his friends would talk about, [5:00] you know, [5:02] "Joey, does your dad have the 392?" I [5:04] said, "Yeah, I got the 392." [5:06] >> the credit score? [5:07] >> Yes, it is. [5:08] >> [laughter] [5:08] >> And that's what happened. She took all [5:10] my didn't pay off the credit [5:11] cards, and now I'm stuck with all this [5:13] debt, and I don't even have this. So, [5:15] it's great to be able to drive it again. [5:17] >> Well, thankfully for you, this RT 392 is [5:21] pretty affordable. I believe it costs [5:22] less than $60,000 when you can start [5:24] ordering one. [5:25] >> Well, what other V8 SUVs exist? [5:28] >> Other than the X5, the GLC or GLE, [5:32] the Q7 in this price category, none of [5:35] them. What I was saying earlier to you, [5:37] Mark, Oh my god, dude. What I was saying [5:39] to you earlier is that [5:41] this [5:43] because it's on the older, very old [5:46] uh, platform that was originally sourced [5:48] from Mercedes under Daimler, [5:50] and the RAM are probably the two [5:52] Stellantis products I actually think are [5:54] genuinely well-sorted vehicles and [5:57] competitive in their class. Like, [6:01] dynamically, [6:02] this V8 has a ton of character. The 392 [6:05] hasn't changed in 400 years, and it's [6:07] great for it. [6:09] The ZF 8-speed does it Jesus Christ. [6:12] >> it way too much sense, pal. Nobody gives [6:14] a about this. My wife didn't care [6:16] about any of this stuff. [6:17] >> [laughter] [6:17] >> She wanted the 392, [6:20] and I told her I would get it. I worked [6:22] three different jobs. Joey went to a [6:24] private school. Guess what? Now she's [6:26] got another kid on the way with this new [6:28] guy, and they got a free car out of me. [6:31] >> Well, Mark, I'm sorry you're sad, but [6:34] the drivetrain in this thing is great. [6:35] It handles well. It's double wishbone [6:37] car. The all-wheel drive systems are [6:38] good, and the brakes, despite being a [6:40] house, have not faded out yet. [6:43] >> did. It faded out. [6:44] >> Oh, it did? [6:44] >> Yeah, no. Well, then we'll just we won't [6:45] use the brakes. [6:47] >> [laughter] [6:50] >> The whole idea is not to use the brakes. [6:52] >> All right. Is there anything else you [6:53] want to talk about, Mark? [6:54] >> Yeah. [6:57] The V8. It's great. [6:59] >> Did you talk about it? [7:00] >> I did. I talked about it at length. It's [7:01] been around for 10 years or 15 years. [7:03] >> paying attention. [7:05] >> Look, you've probably seen like 40 of [7:06] our videos in the Durango at this time. [7:08] >> No, this this this brand exists because [7:10] of this. [7:11] >> Yeah, the V8. [7:12] >> This entire experience is why you buy a [7:16] Dodge, right? You're You don't care [7:18] about anything else. I can get a V8, uh, [7:21] souped-up [7:22] I'm going to [7:23] get get drunk and drive through the [7:25] front of a liquor store in this thing. [7:28] That's what I'm going to do. [7:29] That's what I'm going to do in this [7:30] thing. And then I'm going to hire a [7:31] lawyer to get me out of it so I can do [7:33] it again. [7:36] Okay? [7:37] >> You can't use any of that. [laughter] [7:39] >> Why not? [7:40] >> Dude, but why do you think you can't use [7:42] any [laughter] of that? [7:45] Uh [7:46] >> All right, fine. [7:47] >> [music] [7:51] >> Now, despite us having some fun during [7:53] the drive, we've done an asinine amount [7:55] of videos on the Durango. And all the [7:57] things that were good about it are still [7:59] good about it. They're just giving you [8:01] more. You know, the adaptive dampers do [8:03] a really good job for the price point on [8:05] the street and if you want to have some [8:06] fun, it doesn't feel like a massively [8:09] understeer prone vehicle. And you know, [8:12] the V8 makes a massive difference. Now, [8:13] clearly, you know, this brand has some [8:16] of the worst timing ever and it's not [8:18] really their fault. They bring back the [8:20] V8 and then our gas prices in Illinois [8:22] are over $6 a gallon for premium. It [8:24] just seems like they can't catch a [8:25] break. But clearly, you're not buying a [8:27] V8 because you wanted Toyota hybrid [8:30] levels of fuel economy. You're buying it [8:32] for a completely different reason and [8:33] that's why the Durango continues and has [8:35] sold for quite [8:37] uh quite well for a long period of time. [8:39] It is that known quantity and I [8:41] understand why people buy it and you're [8:43] going to really enjoy it. Now, clearly, [8:45] the used market is going to be amazing. [8:47] So, if you need one of these for more [8:49] affordable, you're going to find it. But [8:50] if you're also looking for a deal that [8:52] is basically a loaded three-row SUV for [8:56] 50 grand, this is very, very, very hard [8:59] to argue and we appreciate that it [9:01] exists in a world of boring SUVs. Thanks [9:04] for watching. We'll see you next video. [9:07] >> [music] [9:10] >> Woah. [9:13] Woah. [9:14] >> [music] [9:16] >> Woah.
