[00:01] healer in World of Warcraft, involves a mix of prepared healing and reaction healing. Reaction healing is pretty straightforward. I saw someone get hurt, I healed them. Woohoo! Not very interesting in theory, but when the [00:15] going gets tough, playing fast and using triage to keep the party alive is an essential skill and a pretty challenging one, too. Preparation healing is when you set something up in order to heal big later. Discipline Priest is the [00:27] classic example here. You apply it atonement with your healing spells. So, you put shields and heals on people, that gives them atonement. Doing damage heals everyone with atonement. So, if you get out a whole lot of atonements, [00:39] with your damage spells. Every healer has preparation and reaction healing, just some have more than others in one category or another. Most prep healing is to get ahead of incoming damage events before they happen. Preservation [00:53] of Evoker is a massive preparation healer with the spell Echo. Because Echo's copy direct healing spells, you get flexibility as to what this prep work gets you. Do you want to have bigger, burstier heals, or do you [01:07] want larger heal over times? But you need to keep prepping targets to keep up tons of healing. When you lose that momentum, you can suddenly fall very far behind in your healing, or especially when you didn't want to be. And this is [01:20] between preservation players that I'm teaching right now and my own play. It's in the speed, the consistency, and the flexibility of the prep work. The core [01:32] concept here is we're using time to our advantage. And to best explain that, we can revisit a topic from one of my guides, why haste isn't our best stat. really like it, get it for a few reasons. It increases cooldown recovery [01:46] rate on many important moves, and it helps with spell speed, like the global cooldown or cast time. And while that's certainly true on preservation, it doesn't have that many heavy modifiers for haste scaling. Reversion, Temporal [01:59] Anomaly, and Verdant Embrace, if memory serves me correctly, and none of them have too heavy of a modifier. Now, your essence does regenerate faster with haste, but given how frequently we have Temporal Anomaly and Essence Burst [02:12] available to us, the gains from having essence regenerate faster almost never shows up in five-player content, and especially in PvP. On the raid side of You'll see your some raiders run high mastery with a good amount of haste and [02:27] get out extra echoes that can heal 14 maybe 15 players instead of maybe nine to 10 players. And don't get me wrong, haste can be fun to play with. It's not giving you nothing, it's just that the gains compared to other stats usually [02:41] aren't as high. But if you're running like 20% haste and it's working for you, don't worry too much about it. And furthermore, I run sometimes as low as you're looking for a happy medium, I think 7 to 10% is a nice sweet spot. But [02:55] also, if you're worried about cast speed, we have a lot of talents that through all of them right now. Ancient Flame makes our next Living Flame 30% faster after an Emerald Blossom or [03:07] Verdant Embrace. Life Spark are those reversions that we put out, and they Living Flame that's 50% stronger damage and healing. Well, that's instant cast, that's pretty quick. Moves like Flow State that make time move 10% faster for [03:20] the Scales on Chronowarden, you get this massive 30% haste buff that starts to deteriorate. Or Primacy, which is when you land these Verdant Embrace heal over times on Chronowarden, each new one you get out from maybe Echoes will give you [03:34] get out from maybe Echoes will give you 3% stacking haste up to 9% flat haste. And a lot of the moves we have are instant cast, so there's a lot of casting fast on Preservation Evoker that doesn't involve a single ounce of haste [03:47] on your gear. However, the big reason we don't rely on haste as much or don't need to rely on haste is because of how Echo works in the flow of healing. I like to follow along with the talents that I'm using in particular. Echo lasts [04:01] somewhere around 18 seconds, 16 seconds with our current build. Once an Echo is applied, it's essentially just waiting for a heal to go off so it can copy said spell to the target that it's sitting on. So, yes, there is some time that it [04:15] takes to set up your Echoes, but you can do this at any time and during a pull, especially when there's no damage or small amounts of damage going out. Uh it can also be a disaster and you do this, too, but the real trick to this is you [04:28] then you press the button to heal the damage event. There's nothing else going on there. Set up the heal, cash out the heal. So, even with my sometimes 2% footage, I'm keeping up with the heals nicely because I'm always prepping and [04:44] I'm always able to cash out. And also, it doesn't look very slow with this low of haste. I'm clearly moving very quickly and getting spells out, so I Preservation. Uh by the way, I've already said it like two times now, I [04:56] already said it like two times now, I use cash out to refer to healing up and using Echoes. So, let's say we have a bunch of Echoes out on our parties, and then we hit Reversion, we've cashed out the Echoes with Reversions, and now [05:08] everyone's got a Reversion on them. All of this is to say, as long as you prep and you stay ahead of damage, you can heal up just about anything. And I'm going to put a disaster pull on screen right now. Even when you aren't ahead, [05:20] this mindset of prepping and always be prepping really helps you out. And this is the hard part, I think, for a lot of Pres players, the keep prepping part of this. After any moment my party, I try to re-prep the party. So, for example, [05:35] let's say we use a Temporal Anomaly to heal all of this damage. Okay, great. Now I can use Echoes to top people off and prepare for another round of damage. I heal as needed, and then oh hey look, Temporal Anomaly's off cooldown, and [05:48] then I can throw that out, and tada, I'm prepped again. Mixing and matching your some of your spells like Dream Breath without an Echo is a good way to keep up the momentum. Now, what heal should you [06:00] use out? Okay, this one's easily one of the other hardest parts about Pres. All of your standard heals are good and they have a purpose. If you want a video deep diving how you can use every single heal we [06:13] have, I can go over that, certainly. Let me know in the comment section. But the only wrong option is to be using, say, a small heal over time when you need burst heals to keep people alive, or you waste your burst heals when you probably could [06:26] have gotten away with some Golden Hour healing on Reversions and maybe a little have to waste the big burst heals to heal that damage event. But for this video, let's focus on one really, really potent example, Reversion. Reversion [06:42] of the most loaded healing talents in small heal over time that extends its duration by critting. And because of our Apex talents, it will also heal back 1% of damage taken. Grace Period says that [06:57] we receive 10% more healing if we have a Reversion on us, and that counts for any of our allies as well. Now, because of Echo, you can get two Reversions on someone, well, that means you get two Grace Periods, so they receive 20% more [07:09] healing. Golden Hour lets us spot heal 15% of damage taken in the last 5 seconds. This is why we're one of the best tank healers in the game, and it's very useful when you have a lot of big Echoes out, and then you can press [07:23] from damage they just took. And just note that if you're doing this with Temporal Anomaly, it does produce a weaker version of the Golden Hour healing, but it still puts Reversions on targets, and they should get the full [07:35] Grace Period effect regardless. Every tick of a Reversion has a chance to give you an instant cast Living Flame. These are 50% stronger damage and healing, and of course instant, so you can use them for healing out big Echo setups or for [07:49] doing damage if you've just used other resources to heal. Also, every time you cast a Reversion, you have a 15% chance to get an Essence Burst. And remember, with every Echo is a copy of the spell, which means yes, you're rolling the dice [08:02] many Echoes you popped with your Reversion. So, keeping Reversion rolling as a default is a great plan. It has a short cooldown in two charges, which makes this fairly easy to do. But let's say there's too much damage and you'd [08:16] rather use Verdant Embrace or a Dream Breath to use up all those Echoes, cash them out, and heal up the party. Well, then do it. That's totally okay. Then you can top people off afterwards with the Echoes and Reversions afterwards and [08:29] get them rolling that way. Before a pull, I love to send out a Temporal Anomaly or Echo up a bunch of party members and hit Reversion. Yeah, before we even start really doing damage, I'll do that. Because always prepping and [08:42] Reversions rolling for those Grace Period healings, for that I may want to use later in the pull. The early Essence Burst can be lovely for ramping for actual damage. It's just never a bad idea to get these [08:57] Blessing, our Apex talent, is where things get complicated, but honestly, really fun as well. Our Apex talent, Merithra's Blessing, gives us a chance to get this bouncing, smart healing flower spell whenever we use an Essence [09:11] spell. Or after we use Dream Breath, we get a guaranteed one. Merithra's Blessing replaces Reversion, but also, it is Reversion. So, if the whole party's Echoed up, right, and you hit Merithra's Blessing on them, all of them [09:25] will receive a Reversion. But also, all of them will receive a Merithra's bazillion of these bouncing flower heals flying around, and this is extremely potent healing, and I highly recommend [09:37] using this when you have the setup. And I will continue to cycle these moves as well. I'll swap from Echoes and Temporal Anomalies as needed to keep the pressure going. And also, it's okay to use them in sort of a sub-optimal position. It's [09:51] into a pack that maybe you're only have all your reversions, hopefully some essence burst, and you can use other to heal. And then, of course, let's say there's a good setup and you can use the [10:05] Now you can hold on to other resources for, again, another event of damage. Be flexible with this. One trick that really helps me out is don't get too Echoes. It's a strong burst heal and a great heal over time. So, you might [10:22] Echoes to get the most out of it. But because it's so strong, it's a nice way to cover between your other prep work, whether it's a heal over time or a burst heal. And on Chronowarp, it sends out Chronoflames, and all of those [10:36] Chronoflames have a chance to give you an essence burst, which you can roll in with your guaranteed Myr's Blessing into even more healing. And when there's you're all prepped and ready to go, it's time to do some damage. First of all, I [10:50] don't see enough pres players optimizing this. Your Fire Breath is a heal. 80% of the damage it does is split evenly among five allies. And while this does have an upper bound of how many targets you're allowed to hit, in AoE, this is always a [11:02] good heal. So, feel free to fire even a level one Fire Breath for a heal over time by burning the enemies over time, or charge it up to get something fatter and, you know, more instant. Sometimes the tank is taking damage, and my first [11:15] heal on a pull is actually full charging a Fire Breath, because it usually just and I don't have to use a single Echo, or any of my prepped Echoes or Myr's Blessings or Verdant Embraces or what have you. It's a great optimization. [11:29] Living Flame is a great damaging move, Chronoflame on Chronowarp, because it's with a 20% chance to give you an essence burst. This is a godsend, but sometimes have instant cast Living Flame charges, in which case, feel free to just press [11:43] big deal. And Disintegrate does use essence, so it can be a little tricky to use, but this is your major method of getting mana back, so it is important to mix in some Disintegrates, and you'll get used to where they go as you play. [11:56] One more tip to think about with Echoes is just make sure to cash them out before they're lost to time. So, let's say you're getting close to that 16-18 second mark where the Echoes are going to fall off, just send a reversion, cash [12:09] them out. More essence burst, grace period being set up, instant cast Living Flames, and any essence burst can be converted into Disintegrates or Echoes, which might get you a Myr's Blessing. So, there's nothing wrong with caching [12:22] Temporal Anomaly. In fact, in a lot of situations, it's kind of optimal to do that, and you'll see me do it all the damn time if you ever watch me play. And my final final tip for the day, remember that Echo heals on application. Use it [12:36] targets in a pull who need it most from targets who are the lowest on health that you're about to heal, or knowing maybe it's good to start your prep work on them, or start your prep work on you [12:49] to preserve mastery. And remember, when those Echoes are down, you can heal a target without an Echo to make sure you spread your heals wider, or you can try to pick the target in your massive Echoed players that's the lowest to make [13:02] sure they get the most potent version of a heal, so that you can keep up a little more evenly. Triage is complicated. This can sound really intimidating, but the better you get at identifying who needs heals next and using your Echoes [13:15] honestly, if you do it well on preservation, you'll be one of the best Like, that's just that's a skill that pays itself forward for the rest of time on every healer you play. But that's going to do it for this one. Feel free [13:28] if you really enjoyed it, and leave a comment if you have any questions or if of me. I want to make a lot more guides this tier, this season, this expansion, you guys want to hear from me about, whether it's preservation, other [13:42] healers, tanks, you name it, I'm there for you. Thank you all so, so much for watching, and I'll see you all in the next one.
