[00:00] We're like in the final few weeks of Omega operation here. Yes. So is this something you're even going to do? Probably not. Winsor's not fixing it. Welcome to Hooves Garage, the dumbest automotive channel [00:14] in all of YouTube. And it's kind of a sad day because this is the last vehicle that my mechanic, the car wizard, says he's going to inspect for me, and he's not going to work on it. Now, I've been on an escalate buying Binder lately with zero apologies, and this is the latest one to come [00:27] into town from Arizona, and it's a really special one. This thing was $90,000 when new. The Cadillac XS 500 EXT, and it was brought upon by Magneson, the supercharger company. They sent a supercharger kit along with some other accessories [00:41] to really make the original Escalade V. So you got this visor up here, 20-inch wheels, stainless steel, loud exhaust, this metal grill up front, and then inside they clasped it up a little bit [00:53] with a lot of peel and stick wood from the finest plastic trees to match the plastic tree real wood inside of here. So kind of goofy in that regard. In $90,000 back in 2003 was a lot of money, [01:06] way too much money for one of these. A supercharger, some wheels, some plastic trim and a visor, crazy money. So they were supposed to sell hundreds of them, but nobody bought them. I imagine there's 10 or 20 or so in existence. And so when one popped up at a dealer but he's lot, [01:20] and he offered it to me, it didn't matter. I was buying it no matter what. Even though I had 180,000 miles on it, it spent all its life in Arizona, and it is so ridiculously clean underneath. But it does have 180,000 miles and some issues, [01:33] some slop in the suspension, a few oil leaks, but it drove just fine. I just got it and trusted it to drive all the way to San Diego and back from Arizona to visit DaddyDoug, do some stuff on his YouTube channel, and then drive it back. [01:45] But now it's here in Kansas and ready to go to the car wizards, but like I said, this is it for him. Yeah, the escalaries are populating right now like rabbits, and I'm not done yet. There's even more coming, but there are other cars in the garage [01:58] other than Cadillac Escalade's, and one of the most dramatic transformations recently has been this right here. My 1998 Mercedes S500 with only 74,000 miles, and it never looked right when I bought it. Unfortunately, it had aftermarket AMG wheels [02:12] that were wrong offset. They're from a different generation of S-class, and they really didn't look right. What I wanted was the stock look, the ride, the feel. So I found a great looking set of factory 18-inch wheels online, and then went to tire rack.com, [02:24] the sponsor of today's video, and browse through their unmatched selection, use their helpful shopping tools, and unbiased reviews and tire tests, to make the right choice. I chose a set of Michelin Defender 2s, because tire rack data and customer feedback [02:37] showed it to be a standout and smooth ride quality and low noise levels, exactly what you want on your luxury flagship sedan, but also excellent treadwear life, great performance in all seasons, and exceptional handling. [02:49] And I have to agree that ride has been completely transformed on the Mercedes, with the right tires from tire rack, it's just incredible, and the road noise, it's also not existing on this thing. Tire rack is my go-to source for tires for all of my fleet, [03:01] not only because of the selection and resources, but they also ride two years of road hazard protection for free with purchase, so you're covered if you catch a nail or a pothole, shipping was super quick as well, with next day delivery to most nationwide. [03:14] Tireship are free to your home or office, or to an install of your choice, and tire rack even has mobile installs in select areas. So if you're needing tires for your ride, experience the way tire buying should be. Using the best tools in the business, [03:26] compare tires for your exact vehicles and filter by what matters most at tire rack.com, which is linked below. Weezard! [03:38] You like my hammer? X, S500. Oh, yes. Yes, this one's a special one, you'll see under the hood in a little bit. Sweet. Well, this just showed up here, [03:50] just not too long ago, and I'm getting déjà vu, I feel like I've been here before. Yeah, I had to get the world's cheapest hammer again, but this is something for the future. This is for another video, so. Another video? Focus on this, focus. [04:03] Focus, laser focused. There are some issues, but it is a really cool thing. Hop in. All right. Little extra bark there too. [04:15] I don't think I've ever seen one of those on an excalade. I've never seen it before until this one. So this is, and I have to remember every time, the XS500EXT. I never even heard of that. It was at $90,000. [04:27] They just signed in the 2000. Yes, new, that's what they wanted for this thing. We knew on top of the, you know, almost $50,000 to the escalade. So, yeah, let's double the price. Put a little body on it, some chrome wheels, [04:39] you know, pit my ride a little bit. Some peel and stick wood. It looks like it's D's ride. Oh, sorry, Kerber being clean's plain here. Yeah, D's ride. So, is it any correlation to D's nuts? [04:53] No, no, no. Previews owner seemed to really like this thing, and I can see why, because I just saw my 18,000 mile one, and obviously it was really nice. This thing's been its whole life in Arizona, [05:05] but that 500 means 500 horsepower. So, 500 horsepower? She's got blue on her. Why am I can hear it? Whee. [05:17] Yeah. Most escalades in this era definitely don't move that fast. No, 345 horsepower stock. So, we got 150 horsepower boost, and I thought it sounded like it had like a boost leak, [05:31] like the, you know, because it was extra wooshy, but I guess, I guess like a centrifugial supercharger? Centrifugal. Centrifugal, whatever. Yes. It sounds like that apparently. It's basically a belt driven turbo, yes. [05:43] Well, that is really, really cool, and I drove it to San Diego and back to Arizona. Now, it shipped home back to Kansas, and as you can see, smooth, quiet, comfy. With 180,000 miles, it drives almost like the 18,000 mile one. [05:58] Wow. And I sold the 18,000 mile one for, I think, 35,000, and this one was 10. 10? Yes, that's it. I think it'll be pretty close to the same, other than having a big oil leak. [06:12] Uh-oh. Yep. I have an idea on an LS motor, what it could be is probably in the oil filter area. Oh, yep. Close likely. Just pulls. [06:24] Man. So I have two hot rod caddies now. You've been messing with the 76 El Dorado. Yeah. Okay, we'll get back into the grudge, and I guess we can verify your suspicion, but hey, you're running a seat belt today. [06:36] That's gonna make people happy. Yes. So what's going on with this El Dorado? Uh-oh, CDI. Yes. Oh, 506 only. That's one of the best Mercedes ever right there. It really is. 40 miles per gallon, 0-60 in the fives. [06:50] I miss mind terribly, but now I'm in the hot rod Cadillac world. So this thing, board and stroke 500 cubic inch V8. It's a show car under the hood, but a driver on the outside. [07:03] It's crazy how much money was spent here, but there's some unfinished stuff. So the air conditioning was one of them, right? Right, they had the compressor installed, and that's about as far as they went. I had to buy these hoses to run to this. [07:16] I also replaced this as expansion valve and a dryer all in one. Okay. VIR. And we're waiting on hose, which just showed up today. Here's a new one because you're old one. [07:28] This is something that happens constantly with when people put headers on their cars. Oh yeah. Oh, it melted it. Yes. Oh dear. Melted right through it. Okay. [07:41] So I'm close to having AC in this thing. So the only thing old is, is this condenser in the front. Yep. And if that holds then I'm in business, right? You'll have AC again, yes. Nice. And the other thing were the funky windows. And I guess that's all normal old car stuff. [07:55] Pretty easy to do. Yeah, on these old GMs, the rollers and things break, the plastic and then it falls off track and everything. We're rebuilding that and you'll have the windows working again. Wow. So I guess all that's left is the power driver's seat. [08:08] And then it's a car. I can make it look nicer, but just enjoy it as is, I think. Yeah, enjoy it and cruise with it. All right. And Daniel's son, we're still working on the Lotus. [08:21] I have footage. I have a lot of footage on the Lotus, but I wanted to have sort of a happy conclusion kind of being able to drive it. And it's being a little stubborn, huh? Just a little bit. [08:33] It's ready to start, though. Isn't she a beaut wizard? It is. It looks like a Peter built with that little wing on the windshield up there, whatever those call it. I don't even know what they're called. Yes, and sort of the grill too, sort of the heavy duty. [08:46] Real metal grill, not plastic. A freight liner. Yep. And under hood, this is where they wanted all this money. I don't think many of these sold. They were going to make a couple hundred of them, but who's paying 90 grand for some bling [08:58] and a supercharger back then? So, what do you think? What do you think? Looks like that's all they did is put a supercharger on it and maybe tuned it for that. The rest looks stock. Very stock. [09:10] We're going to go over to six liter. And once again, not a speck of rust corrosion. These Southern cars, it's just not fair. It isn't fair. Yep. So, no issues you see? [09:23] We look in here. Nothing that's not out of the ordinary. The AC works good. It's got aftermarket exhaust on it. I can see that. Yep. Headers. I guess we can get it in the air and see where it's leaking and... [09:36] Actually, drove this thing about 600 miles from Arizona to Garza BDHQ and back. And that's where I did this. Going into their vault at Garza Bids, I pulled it in too far and it just kissed the bumper so I'm kicking myself for that. [09:48] That's too bad. And then it leaked some oil on Daddy Doug's floor. He wasn't happy about that. He was also not happy. I was at his house. I drove the goal wing. That's the last time I was there. And it leaked oil all over his brand new concrete [10:01] that's dry for him. I was like, see, my kids were drawing in chalk around your oil spots. So he was giving me some... Yep, you know what? So anyway, up we go. No 20 inch wheels in 2003. [10:14] This is the early first year EXT. So that's an upgrade. Definitely got some heavy-duty drilled and slotted rotors on it. Look at that bowl joint. [10:28] Uh-oh. We got a little play. Yep. I heard some clunking or felt some clunking when we were driving here earlier. And that's probably it. OK. So there's something that's not 18,000 miles on it. [10:41] No. And CV boots look good. It's like it's got some red fluid leaking. What is that? That's probably where they just greased it. Yeah, that's just where they greased it. [10:54] OK. Nothing there. Oil pan is dry right here. Differentials dry. That ball joint don't look good here. The upper one looks pretty exploded, too. [11:09] Yeah. Look up high. It's got goo coming out of it. It probably just needs upper and lower for both of them. Not hard to do? No, not hard to do. OK. Oh, here's our oil leak. [11:22] So this is very common. Sometimes I have a block off plate here, but this one actually has an oil cooler. You can see the lines coming out of the top. Just this gasket I'm touching right here is bad. That's all it is. It's two bolts. [11:34] So another easy repair. Very easy. Very nice. All right. This all this oil is probably coming from that leak, which has showed you. It's just pulling all back there. Just spraying everywhere. [11:46] A drip AC on me. OK. AC water is dripping. Yeah. Well, there's a little bit over here, too. That's coming from valve cover gasket. It's way up there. Oh. [11:58] So I am kind of a leak-y, I guess. Yes. All right. None of it's too hard to get to, though. Luckily, we're not seeing anything that's 20 grand in repairs or anything. No. And the exhaust is definitely custom. [12:12] It sounds really good. And this undercarriage, well, I guess it doesn't look like the 16,000 mile one. It need. No, not really. But it is still nice. It is nice. Nice for the price. [12:27] You joints are good. It's got magna flow on it. And brake pads all around are like 60% remaining. So that's good. Your air suspension is not blown in the back. That's the first on a GM from 03. [12:39] How about that? They're original, too. No. They were probably replaced like at the dealer at some point. There's no way 108,000 miles and original. They didn't have QR codes back in 2003. [12:51] That's true. So at some point, somebody spent the money. I think probably at the Cadillac dealer, right? Yeah. Well, at least they're holding. That's good, yes. Compressors. Yeah, that's been replaced. OK. So I don't have to do that. [13:03] That's the only big gotcha on these. I feel like it's the air ride. And of course, the transmission sometimes go out. The spare is missing. It's in the back. Oh, it's in the back. And so whatever held it in is missing. [13:16] No longer, probably one of those things that drops it down like a cable that is no longer with us. Right here, you would have put a long put your rod through the hole here. And it would have operated a mechanism there. [13:28] It'd be great for that to exist against the spare could mount, but it's not totally necessary. Well, OK. So how much do you think I'm spending on these little oil leaks in the ball joints? [13:41] We can probably, a grand 1,500 somewhere around in there. OK. That's both upper lower control arms, valve cover gaskets, that leak is pretty much all it needs. [13:54] All right. And the thing is, though, we're like in the final few weeks of Omega operation here. So is this something you're even going to do? Probably not. [14:07] Wizard's not fixing it. That'll be saved for the next person. That's so sad. He's turning down. Well, if you want him to get that done, I can't pull in the rest of that to get this. [14:20] Allot us in the catalog. This is like a solid week of tear down, pulling all the carton. You're right. You're right. Because you told me like, that's your last retail customer. Yes. In Newton. This sucks. [14:32] OK. This sucks. All right. Well, I'm going to take the Hellcat home at least. I brought it up to you for a check engine light. Yep. And it was giving me the gas cap warning line. It's an X-ray. I'm not that lucky. And it's just the gas cap. [14:44] And it was. OK. So what's the bill on this one? I love that one, go. How about that? You're not going to charge me for the dieg on the gas cap. I feel bad that I can't fix your truck. So I'll let this one go. [14:56] OK. All right. Well, shoot. This is so sad. It is. I mean, our next video together is actually going to be the good buy video. That's already crying. [15:09] I'm already crying. But believe it or not, there's more escalates coming. More? Look at that beautiful Kansas sunset. And I'm coming home to my own little slice of paradise [15:21] right here. And I'm not talking about the farm. I'm talking about the escalates. They are propagating like rabbits here. [15:33] Unbelievable. Two more have arrived. I mean, if Stradman can have six or seven Lamborghinis at once, why can't I have six Cadillac escalates? One is in Arizona. But here are five. [15:45] The most escalates I have ever owned at once here in Kansas. And I am so, so happy. So I've had these two for a while. The escalate platinum hybrid, a very rare combination [15:57] of the third generation escalate here. And it's a really weird thing, but I actually really love it. Bought it for three grams, put a bunch of money getting the lifters fixed and all that stuff. White diamond tricode on this one, 22-inch wheels. [16:09] You can see the special hybrid headlights on this one. And same with the interior, special platinum interior with that wood inlay. The headlights are actually platinum exclusive, not hybrid exclusive, very expensive to replace. [16:22] And then a first generation 99 escalate with only 90,000 miles on it. Still looking for the correct wheels, because those are aftermarket, they're period correct, but they're falling apart. Otherwise, a really, really nice truck. [16:34] You can see every bit of it's 90,000 miles of GMT 400. First generation escalate goodness. And then there's the new additions. So I got an email from a viewer, and he works at a dealership in Montana [16:47] called Corrin Motors. They're a GMC dealer, apparently in the fancy part of Montana. And he got two Cadillac escalates for trade. And this is one of them. I can't believe it. I found another Unicorn EXT. [16:59] It's just crazy, but we'll start with this one. The 2012 escalated. This one is a beautiful metallic black. You can see it's really popping in the sunset. And only 69,000, nice, original miles on this thing. [17:12] It's not a platinum, but look how squeaky clean this thing is. It's just crazy how nice it is. Second row buckets, the third row. All of it's still there in an amazing condition. [17:24] I was surprised by the color. I thought it'd be the regular black, but this is the special more expensive sparkly metallic black on this one. So I was so happy when it arrived. Well, here we go again. Another Holy Grow Cadillac escalate EXT. I sell my low mileage one. [17:36] I'm thinking I'm gonna kick myself. I'm never gonna find another one ever again. This one pops up with all the aftermarket goodies. And then this one pops up with 40,000 original miles. Yes, 40,000, and look how nice the interior is on this one. [17:51] I am just flabbergasted, especially looking at the odometer, brace yourself. 41,263 miles. Another in the aftermarket radio, [18:04] which was done very well with steering control, still work. This thing is bone bone stock. The seats haven't been touched up, you know, slapped on with any coat if they got all, you know, wrinkly and stuff. This is all original and so stinkin' nice. [18:17] I cannot believe I found another one. Yeah, there's the original radio. It's in the back. I haven't even looked back here yet. This one is a model year 2004. [18:29] Even though it was built, I believe, in late 03. Yeah, November of 2003. Sorry, I'm totally nerding out here, but if you're an Escalade lover, this is crazy. It's like another Holy Grail. I keep finding Holy Grails. [18:42] Oh yeah, super duper clean. But since it did come from Montana, it was driven some in winter, so the undercarriage does show it a little bit. It's not like the California one or that Arizona one. It's not rusty either, just like normal surface rust, [18:55] not abused or crusty or anything like that. But this one, apparently it was only driven in the summer, so underneath, it's actually really, really nice. Like somebody's summer home car. So, I scored. [19:08] I scored and this is super nerdy, but I mean, why not? Why not just let my freak flag fly for a moment here and have five Escalades in Kansas [19:20] and one in Arizona. And you could really tell a low mile or a really baby garage one by the Escalade crest. So this thing, mint condition Escalade crest, 40,000 miles garage car, still has all that's color no fading yet. [19:33] Unlike the 180,000 mile one, which had been outside quite a bit, it's the same crest and look how it's faded all the color has gone out of it. Now to say this one's in bad condition, it just spent a lot more time outside with 180,000 miles. [19:47] And in Arizona, the sun's sort of beat down on this thing, it ignored the scratches that I caused. Gotta take this one for a spin for a little bit here. 41,000 miles, fresh, pretty buttons. [20:00] Yes. So mine is supercharger. It does not make the crazy, wishy noises, but it's not slow either. These were 345 horsepower stock. [20:13] Oh my. But it honestly doesn't drive that different from the 180,000 mile one because that one's been kept up. Other than, yeah, there is a lot more plane this steering on the 180,000 mile one. We saw with the upper lower control arm [20:26] is being completely worn out. So the front end needs to go in through on that one, but definitely not this one. It's still not handling like a sports car, but way better than that 180,000 mile one. [20:38] Wow. This is, this is having a Cadillac Escalade EXT. Sunset on the planes. I am a very, very happy man. [20:51] Let me tell you, there is not a moment that I think about, man, I wish I sell the Bugatti Bay Run. Nope, nope. I am so, so happy right now. You guys have no idea. So my first shop in the car business was at CarMax, [21:03] but my second job was a salesman at a Chevy Cadillac BMW store. And it was in 2007, a transition year when we were going from the second generation to the third generation Cadillac Escalade. And I guess that's what I fell in love. [21:16] My dad started doing well for himself and bought a Cadillac Escalade. I think in 2003-ish, I thought it was really cool, but I really got to know these things in the time that I worked at the Cadillac dealership [21:28] and thought they were the cats me out. So I am so, so happy. Like to basically have my own CarLot Cadillac Escalade row here. And the XLRV, how could I forget that one too? Those of those expensive car we had on our lotback, then $97,000 for a Cadillac XLRV. [21:43] And I got it here. I know this is as ridiculous as it looks, but I don't care. People collect things. I can collect Cadillac Escalades. It's okay. And I got to give a shout out to CorwinAuto.com. Check out their website because they did hook me up [21:55] with these two Cadillac Escalades. Just out of the blue. I guess they're selling me a car. I hope they're making money. But they definitely hooked me up. So check them out, CorwinAuto.com. Wow. We are in the final day of street [22:07] to enter for a chance to win my beautiful 1992-44 SS Chevy pickup truck because I am giving it away on fanatham.com. They sponsored the channel by a keychain or a mug and it enters you for a chance to win this incredible sport truck. [22:21] I got this thing at the Bear Jackson Collector Car auction. It is so cool. It's been redone, hot-rotted. This wood cover, you could cover it up if you don't like it, but it's hand-done, intricate, and beautiful. Same goes for the inside, a bed liner, [22:33] and more of this hand-done woodwork in here, which if you wanted all stealth black, you could go back really easily. But I just couldn't do it because it's like artwork. The bumper has been flushed out, the dual exhaust, the aftermarket wheels, [22:45] and a really, really nice interior with bucket seats. Along with the 454 cubic inch V8 that looks like it's been upgraded, and actually the transmission, I thought it needed to be rebuilt, it didn't. There's a throttle position sensor that was not hooked up properly, [22:58] and that was stopping it from going into overdrive. So I got lucky there, along with a bunch of other fixes, including new air conditioning, all that stuff, this thing is good to go. And once again, I am giving it away to one of you. All I have to do is go to fanatham.com, [23:11] slash UVs garage, buy a keychain or a mug and it enters you for a chance to win this incredible truck. So you don't want to miss it just a few weeks left. And as always, thank you so much for watching.
