# Economic D-Day Announced: Treasury Sh*t Show

> Source: [Economic D-Day Announced: Treasury Sh*t Show](https://youtube.com/watch?v=wjI4dnMex_4)

## Summary

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent held a press conference to announce sanctions against Iran, but the measures fell far short of the anticipated 'economic D-Day.' The video criticizes the administration's approach as weak and lacking credibility, warning that this could lead to increased market volatility.

### Key Points

- **Economic D-Day Announcement** [00:02] — Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent held a press conference to level set with the global economy, but the sanctions announced were far less severe than expected, described as a 'clown show' and 'pansy crap.'
- **Sanctions Delayed** [00:46] — The administration announced only 60 sanctions on entities and vessels, with more expected by the end of the week, but the lack of immediate action was criticized as a sign of panic.
- **Warning Shot Justification** [01:14] — Bessent defended the approach as a 'warning shot' and 'level set,' emphasizing that secondary sanctions should not be taken lightly, but the video argues this shows a lack of credibility.
- **Reporter Questions Delay** [02:52] — A reporter asked why sanctions weren't imposed immediately, and Bessent responded that they wanted to give other countries time to 'cure their practices' and avoid blowing up the global financial economy.
- **Credibility Issues** [03:38] — The video argues that Bessent's lack of credibility is why markets unpriced the 'operation twist' announcement, leading to the 10-year at a 3+ year high and the 30-year at a 19-year high.
- **Jackson Hole and Kevin Warsh** [04:08] — The upcoming Jackson Hole meeting on the 27th is highlighted, with Kevin Warsh needing to build credibility after his 2008 actions and his backpedaling on inflation target comments.
- **Major Financial Institution Sanctions Expected** [05:19] — The video predicts a major financial institution will be sanctioned by the end of the week, but expects the sanctions to be delayed as the institution starts 'fixing things.'
- **Iran Calling the Bluff** [05:45] — The video suggests Iran is calling America's bluff, and the sanctions are not a strong arm over big countries like China or Russia, with the UAE cutting off trade but being bombed by Iran anyway.
- **Market Impact** [06:11] — The NASDAQ 100 has dropped from 735 to 707, with a target of sub-700, due to the threat of economic D-Day, Iran deterioration, and upcoming Nvidia earnings.
- **Best Case Scenario** [06:54] — The best case scenario is that Kevin Warsh 'kicks the can down the road' like Bessent, avoiding a market crash, but if he 'puts the pants on' (acts decisively), the market could go down a lot more.
- **Bessent's Defense** [08:34] — Bessent defended the approach, saying they are giving everyone the opportunity to remedy bad behavior, but the video calls this 'bull crap' and a 'clown show.'

### Conclusion

The economic D-Day was a 'nothing burger' with weak sanctions, and the lack of credibility from Treasury Secretary Bessent and Kevin Warsh could lead to more market volatility. The video advises being more conservative in the short term.

## Transcript

Well, Treasury Secretary Scott Besson just came out to level set with the global economy because this economic D-Day may have just gotten tacoed, but trust us, the hammer will fall. Okay,
honestly, this was a clown show once again. And this was really disappointing. This was the the big meeting, the economic D-Day press conference. So, literally, it was supposed to happen last week, but the
do it last week. Instead, they scheduled it for Monday. Okay. Well, today is conference. And in the press conference today, they're like, "Yeah, um, we're not really going to announce all of the sanctions yet,
but I would expect by the end of the week, you you'll you'll hear some more sanctions get announced." These people are literally panicking to the point alpha wire obviously at the same time, which you can get this for free in the
which you can get this for free in the Meet Kevin app. Um, free for now. Well, But anyway, you can download the Me Kevin app and you can see the alpha wire very interesting. We believe a warning shot and level set is an appropriate
action, says Besson. Or do not take the use of secondary sanctions lightly. And this. We watched the press conference. And so basically the bottom line I got out of this is that the Treasury Department and Donald Trump are calling
Department and Donald Trump are calling people up and they are threatening that we're going to impose more sanctions on you unless you do what we want when it comes to cutting off Iran from digital assets, technology, aviation, gold, and
shipping. They're imposing 60 sanctions on individual entities and vessels. We didn't, you know, this was nowhere near as bad as a D-Day as it could have been. Like a D-Day could have been we're sanctioning everybody that sends ships
up and down the Caspian Sea. And we are now introducing another element to this sort of global war that's going on where you've got Ukraine versus Russia and then you've got uh Iran versus the United States and Israel, but then Iran
is a close partner to Russia. a lot of shipping going on through the Caspian. So, does Ukraine come in and start helping enforce some sanctions in the Caspian? We've already seen Ukraine accidentally sink a Russian ship
carrying Iranian military cargo. So, like we've already been poking around on these ideas. That would be more like an economic D-Day. More blockades, more economic D-Day. More blockades, more real pain. This was pansy crap. This was
nothing. They do not have their pooping pants on because this was nothing. And frankly, they said the quiet part out loud. You literally had a reporter say
the following. Why not just impose the sanctions today? Why are you pre-announcing that we're going to be making an announcement announcement that you're going to be making an announcement?
And Treasury Secretary Besset literally responded said, "Well, we want to give other countries a period of time to cure their practices of trading with Iran and and we don't want to blow up the global financial economy." Ah, bingo. Got it
right. Can't put the pants on. Now, I'm not here saying we should blow up the economy. But what I am saying is Treasury Secretary Bessett loses credibility by the day. This is why when
operation twist and they're like we're going to issue short-term debt to go buy the long end and buy 10 30year or whatever or announce that we might or will or whatever to try to manipulate the market. It's no surprise that the
very next day all of that got unpriced. It's not a surprise that the 10-year is at a, you know, three plus year high and the 30-year is at a 19-year high. Uh surprise. when people don't think you're credible.
And that actually doesn't bode really well for what comes uh on uh on the 27th, which is in 3 days. On the 27th, we have Jackson Hole. Uh yes, which is
also of course the day we have a coupon expiring for the Meet Kevin membership. J-Hole. But what matters about Jackson Hole is that Kevin Walsh has to build credibility that he doesn't have given his actions in 2008 and how wrong he was
credibility. Then he talks about 2% to the left of the decimal loosening the inflation target to 2.99% which then he's had to backwalk that which again reiterates his lack of credibility. So now you've got
Worsh who stands on really thin foundations of credibility, virtually no credibility. And then you have Bessant who can't really make his operation twist work. And now the economic D-Day is basically like a you better or else.
He's even literally asked like well you know are you going to punish China uh you know for trading with Iran? Everybody should be prepared for the hammer to drop. I expect more announcements later this week. a major
financial institution will be sanctioned by the end of the week. And then of course this just sets up the taco because you know that financial institution they started fixing things. So we're going to delay the sanctions.
This was a nothing burger. This economic D-Day was a bunch of talk to try to get Iran to comply. The most that you got was the UAE cutting off uh uh trade with Iran, but they're getting bombed by Iran anyway. They're not jumping up and down
they'd much rather get some more patriots from the United States. And so we're leveraging that relationship. But is this really like a big strong arm over a big country like China or Russia or frankly the Iran situation? No. And I
think Iran is kind of calling the bluff here on America that Donald Trump down. Unfortunately, even just under the threat of this economic D-Day, we've
seen the NASDAQ 100 go from the 735 where it was last Monday, which was our target. We had a 735 price target going all the way up. Hit 735 and we're like now our price target is sub700. It's not magic. It was because of the
threat of the economic D-Day, the deterioration we've seen with Iran, Nvidia earnings coming up. So, there's logic to all of this that goes into our alpha reports, but it was correct. And now we're bleeding. We're at 707. We're
sub 700, but I think there's a chance we Nvidia earnings on deck Wednesday and then uh uh you know, Kevin Worsh credibility building day at Jackson Hole on Thursday. Now, best case scenario for
the short term is Kevin Worsh basically pulls a Bessant, which is kick the can down the road. Our task forces are working on it. We'll get back to you. If put the pants on, which Bessant couldn't do, that would be bad. But they're all
Trump puppets. Besson is a Trump puppet and Worsh is probably a Trump puppet as he's in the job and he can't get fired. So, you know, does he remain a puppet is the question. We'll see. The odds are the default bias and the market
to keep remaining puppets. That Besson will be useless as he so far has proven will be useless as he so far has proven to be. and uh Kevin Walsh will also just kick the can down the road to his task force which is a task force. We've
broken down all the people on the task forces. These task forces are built by people who desire rates to be zero and no money printing which we kind of know the direction that that ends up leading. It ends up on the left side of a
It ends up on the left side of a V-shaped D covery on on uh not getting the money printer to bail you out. So, it makes the down a lot harder. But, you marketism. And so, we we'll end up seeing what happens. But the point is,
short term, these people have no credibility. If Kevin Worsh wants to put the pants on, it's going to suck uh for Thursday and the market will go down a lot more. Uh hopefully he doesn't. Hopefully, he just kicks the can down
stabilize post Nvidia earnings and the party can keep going. But hope is not conservative. And if you want those alpha reports, make sure to join us at meet me.com. But in the meantime, what did Treasury Secretary Besson say? A
whole not a lot of nothing. Uh, let me see here. Uh, let me see if there are any other notes. Asked why the US is telegraphing plans rather than immediately imposing sanctions. Bessent defends the approach, insisting that a
warning shot is appropriate. We are giving everyone the opportunity to remedy bad behavior. Man, this is such bull crap. Sidestepping questions. Yeah, we covered all this. I'd expect to see a broad
array of countries taking similar actions uh in the future. This was in reference to the UAE indirectly. He didn't directly mention the UAE. Uh no targets yet on Chinese banks or shipping firms that we're aware of. Besson just
threatens that the hammer will drop. Don't be on the side of Iran. If you our side. But, you know, that's always, you know, surrounded by taco parties. It's just it's just a clown show. It's a
clown show. So just all this means like practically is more volatility in markets. So be more conservative, but longterm I don't think you want to >> Why not advertise these things that you told us here? I feel like nobody else
see how it goes. >> Congratulations, man. You have done so you. >> Kevin Papra there, financial analyst and YouTuber. Meet Kevin. Always great to get your take.
