[0:00] hey it's seto kaiba and you're watching [0:02] anime egotists i don't know why these [0:05] guys don't know how to duel unless they [0:07] learn from yugi who cheats or maybe joey [0:11] who's a dog oh why don't you have some [0:13] more jelly donuts like brock and maybe [0:16] you'll get better [0:19] not [0:20] oh and [0:21] i play my blue eyes white dragon and [0:23] kick your butts [0:25] [Laughter] [0:27] and welcome back to the anime egotist [0:29] where zen osama would definitely eat get [0:32] rid of us [0:34] yeah and there would no there wouldn't [0:36] be a chance for us to come back we'd [0:37] just be gone yep gone forever [0:40] but anyways you got me alex and i [0:43] definitely have been skipping some [0:46] school days at duel meister academy [0:49] professor stein has been very upset the [0:51] past few days and seoul has been too but [0:54] not as much [0:56] [Music] [0:58] and i'm richard [0:59] that's correct and we've talked before [1:02] about the best and worst anime cliches [1:05] but [1:06] now it's time for the reverse because [1:08] the last time we talked about another [1:09] worst anime cliches and this time we're [1:12] doing the best of which [1:14] i hope is a good idea but people seem to [1:16] like the worst of stuff more on these on [1:18] this channel and i respect that [1:21] they like to watch us suffer [1:24] i don't blame them but anyways these are [1:26] the cliches that we didn't get to talk [1:28] about last time the cliches that upon [1:31] further inspection we actually [1:32] thoroughly enjoy just the cliches that [1:35] we still like all this time either [1:39] exactly i mean [1:41] i know a few of mine come from the early [1:43] 90s so [1:44] that's kind of where i have the uh [1:46] mindset of [1:48] like this is where this started and all [1:50] that so i'm kind of interested to see [1:51] what you think of someone yep and but [1:54] before we begin we got two new [1:56] subscribers this time [1:57] nintendozilla 98 and dorian y [2:01] thank you guys for subscribing and thank [2:02] you for the love [2:04] yes thank you so much we really do [2:06] appreciate all the support that's right [2:08] and before we begin i have a bone to [2:09] pick with you [2:10] [Music] [2:11] okay yeah um i seem to recall in the [2:15] second worst anime cliches video you [2:18] said you didn't like the fluctuating [2:20] times and fights meanwhile on the last [2:23] list of the best anime cliches she said [2:25] oh the fluctuating times i just find it [2:27] funny what's up with that what what are [2:29] you what are you doing why are you [2:30] confusing our long time fans [2:33] no i i really view it looking back again [2:35] i missed that i even put that on my best [2:38] list but it is one of those things that [2:40] i love and hate [2:42] sometimes it makes sense but then other [2:44] times like i specifically think of the [2:46] tournament of power uh arc and dragon [2:49] ball there's no way they had all these [2:51] conversations that i mean lasted three [2:53] episodes where they're just talking [2:55] so [2:56] i mean they literally have like a 47 [2:58] minute conversation between like three [3:00] of the characters [3:01] uh in like three up [3:03] over the span of three episodes and then [3:05] they [3:06] uh fall out and it's like okay so they [3:08] did that what [3:09] 10 seconds [3:12] i'm watching you [3:14] no but in all honesty i actually [3:16] i like and hate it it's [3:20] it's overdone [3:22] but still enjoyable so i'd love to hate [3:24] it [3:25] yeah i can live with that but i guess [3:27] i'll start us off this time if that's [3:29] okay okay go right ahead all right i'm [3:32] going to say this the surrogate parent [3:34] cliche [3:36] just the p or the surrogate family [3:38] brother sister anybody look [3:40] life is hard life is hard and there are [3:42] a lot sure or i'm not necessarily huge [3:45] on the idea that every single person [3:47] comes from a broken home an anime or [3:48] something like that [3:50] but it's nice to know that they have [3:51] somebody else they can go to like naruto [3:53] has jariah and aruka [3:55] in some sense [3:57] it's just a whole variety of characters [3:59] that have other figures in their life [4:01] that they look up to it's it's it's a [4:03] nice feeling [4:04] not a whole lot of jokes to be added in [4:06] this one i just i just appreciate the [4:07] wholesomeness of it that everybody has [4:09] somebody they can talk to [4:12] yeah and it shows that these a lot of [4:15] times these relationships didn't start [4:17] out as exactly [4:20] a child parent-esque relationship i [4:23] always think of uh [4:24] aruka having to overcome his feelings of [4:27] hate towards naruto to [4:30] be that figure for naruto so [4:32] i i can agree to that i do like [4:35] the [4:35] if there's a parent or parents missing [4:38] that we do see other people step up a [4:40] lot of times yeah that's and i i i [4:42] especially like it in persona 5 because [4:45] it really starts off like hey like i'm [4:47] just taking care of this kid as a fake [4:49] favorite basically and then it goes [4:51] develops all the way into i'm taking [4:53] care of you because i see you as family [4:56] don't date my daughter okay [4:58] you're not gonna do that right no [5:00] definitely haven't [5:02] done it yet dad what what [5:04] nothing the next play through [5:06] yeah yeah yeah [5:08] basically i'm gonna make a great [5:10] son-in-law someday in an anime sense in [5:12] real life may it that probably probably [5:14] won't happen but anyways surrogate [5:16] parents [5:17] i talked about it before or for pokemon [5:20] then we're not going to get into that [5:21] right now but surrogate parent [5:23] or brother sister whatever [5:26] yeah it's just the [5:27] person who becomes family yes basically [5:30] i can understand i'll agree um [5:34] let's see [5:36] so this one's [5:39] a little weird uh [5:41] it's the [5:43] brief yell [5:45] when a friend or ally dies in an anime [5:49] i love how we started off with the [5:50] wholesome one you're just like nope i [5:52] can't last [5:53] exactly [5:56] it's just i i mean it's a great way of [5:58] showing the emotion of [6:00] losing someone in battle or uh to [6:03] something and the person's just having [6:05] to yell about it i always picture though [6:08] like the um i'm a big star trek fan so i [6:10] like uh and i [6:12] um [6:14] when i think of the klingons when they [6:16] uh die they act they have something [6:18] actually similar where they all just [6:19] kind of yell to the skies [6:22] theirs is more of a warning to the gods [6:23] that they're sending a klingon to kill [6:25] them but come on [6:29] yeah but in all honesty i do really [6:31] enjoy this it's a in my opinion it's a [6:34] great way of showing the emotion of [6:36] and the pain that the character is going [6:37] through [6:38] and [6:39] uh [6:41] i mean and it happens a good bit in [6:43] anime when one of the characters dies [6:47] i mean i'm not necessarily okay with the [6:48] characters we know and love dying for it [6:50] to happen but in all seriousness i do [6:53] agree like if there is a good way of [6:54] showing like turmoil and anguish when it [6:57] happens [6:58] admittedly i guess part of the thing for [7:00] me is there are times it happens for me [7:02] but it's not like oh my god i feel so [7:04] bad so it's more for me it's like oh [7:06] really [7:08] this is what we're wasting our time with [7:09] because i feel like i watch a lot more [7:10] bad anime than you do because sometimes [7:13] bad anime can be hilarious [7:16] that's [7:17] seems to be true a good bit um [7:20] now but and [7:22] the thing is it's [7:24] when it's done well this grifle it's [7:27] one scene they they yell [7:30] and [7:32] we usually will see like other in like [7:34] the next episode or in the next few [7:37] episodes we'll see [7:38] the other stages of grief [7:41] throughout this this is the [7:43] this just happened stage in the griefing [7:46] process they lose everything they so [7:49] uh that's just kind of why i like it [7:52] yeah i can i can i can definitely vibe [7:54] with that [7:56] all right your next one all right my [7:58] next one this is gonna be a little bit [8:00] of a weird one and knowing me i'm not [8:02] really sure if you would expect this [8:04] school festivals [8:07] okay [8:08] i guess part of the thing for me is like [8:10] it always seems like despite the fact [8:12] that like it's gonna sound a little [8:13] cheesy but kind of it's nice to see all [8:15] these characters working together and [8:17] all these different interactions and [8:18] setups especially since over here in [8:21] america we don't really get festivals to [8:23] that same level of extent and we don't [8:25] really get scoop because it'll show [8:27] characters oh well let's take time after [8:29] school to set it up and then during [8:31] school all this other sorts of stuff is [8:33] happening [8:34] it works in the sense of like persona 5 [8:36] when it was like actually hey we can't [8:38] have too much fun in this time because [8:40] there's there's some crap going on in [8:42] the real world but other instances in [8:44] like psychic a or other or daily lives [8:47] high school boy is rich it's just people [8:50] goofing off and just you get to [8:51] experience all different sorts of stuff [8:53] it honestly makes me wish i kind of got [8:55] to experience stuff like that it just [8:57] care [8:58] character [9:00] school festivals just seem like they're [9:01] fun for the most part [9:03] with the exception of anybody who has to [9:05] clean that stuff up because that just [9:06] does not seem fun [9:08] yeah i [9:10] i tend to agree these are [9:12] that fun [9:13] one-off [9:14] they're definitely better than like the [9:15] beach episodes [9:17] uh that always try to be either [9:19] perverted or [9:21] have everybody think someone's going to [9:23] be perverted and they're not [9:24] this [9:25] almost everybody all the characters seem [9:27] to have fun [9:30] a lot of times characters that even may [9:31] not always get along seem to get along [9:33] in these episodes so [9:36] yeah i like these episodes as well a lot [9:38] of times when i see them [9:40] yeah i'm getting a little too wholesome [9:42] on this list some of those things i'm [9:43] gonna have to fix that in a bit [9:47] this one actually ties well into one of [9:48] mine so oh all right go for it [9:52] and that is [9:53] school in general in anime is either [9:55] very fun or wacky [9:58] it seems [9:58] [Laughter] [10:02] whether it's [10:04] alternate universes where schools [10:06] different things i'm thinking of like [10:08] welcome to demon school irma [ __ ] where [10:10] they've got a festival episode but it's [10:13] literally a school for uh demons [10:16] and they have and humans pretty much [10:18] trying to survive going to the school [10:21] they go through all i mean all the [10:23] school adventures but [10:25] you see the stuff like um [10:28] i just i try to think of all the [10:30] different animes i mean bl's above the [10:32] school's just nothing fooled with [10:33] nothing but uh delinquents yeah [10:36] it's a war zone pretty much yeah i'm not [10:39] even sure if there are actual grades or [10:40] tests or anything like that it's just if [10:42] you survive then if you survive the next [10:44] three years you graduate [10:47] yeah and i know [10:50] school there is a lot different than how [10:52] we do it here and again [10:54] we don't do the festivals [10:56] our big focus a lot of times is [10:58] whatever your after school activity is [11:01] again they do clubs but [11:03] none of the clubs really come together [11:04] for activities really usually and [11:06] yeah [11:07] yeah and that's [11:08] plus l plus if you got a letter from [11:11] whatever school is in my heroes universe [11:13] you would you would jump on that in an [11:15] instant you know that wouldn't you [11:17] yeah i mean that's another one i mean uh [11:20] ua high school from my hero [11:24] um [11:25] and it doesn't even have to be [11:27] that i mean even when they've shown kind [11:28] of regular schools [11:32] the students always seem to have [11:34] a lot more fun now [11:35] i'm assuming that's [11:37] just the way the culture the cultural [11:39] difference between the us and japan it [11:41] could very well be that [11:43] um because i think i mean bleach focused [11:46] a lot of episodes around being at school [11:49] and having to [11:50] uh [11:51] hide [11:52] uh [11:53] to be able to go fight the bad guy of [11:55] the day for in some of the episodes and [11:57] some of the minor arcs [11:59] so [11:59] it's yeah [12:01] they can all kind of be fun and wacky [12:03] and stuff and again i [12:05] i don't remember ever being that fun [12:07] wacky in high school but i could be [12:09] wrong it wasn't like that in college [12:11] either [12:12] then again i didn't go to a school that [12:14] taught you how to play card games so [12:17] maybe i was just maybe my mom sent me to [12:18] the wrong school but yeah i agree school [12:21] i do like it the thing is that kind of [12:23] makes me wonder or that kind of makes me [12:25] feel like i actually do enjoy more [12:27] school-based anime just because it does [12:29] seem more interesting then again we're [12:31] not the ones taking their tests so i'm [12:33] sure some of them would be like uh no [12:36] yeah and again and it's a very common [12:39] place [12:40] now again as i said i haven't seen all [12:43] the school anime so i'm sure there's one [12:44] where they're [12:45] where it could be a bit more boring [12:47] situations at the school or more [12:49] standard school day seems like it's it's [12:51] not the school you want to go to [12:53] okay well there's a couple of reasons [12:55] for that but yeah [12:58] anyway so i i can go sign on to that [13:01] so my next one [13:03] go right ahead [13:06] okay see this this one i kind of had to [13:09] combine these two because they're more [13:10] or less the same thing [13:12] hey and i did kind of talk about this [13:14] last time in another one of our our [13:17] worstly shapes but i'm gonna say the [13:18] bickering friends [13:20] but only if it's done right because one [13:23] of the problems i have with like the [13:24] sooner like i've said before with the [13:25] tsundere and the bland male protagonist [13:27] is it all the tsundere feels justified [13:30] with everything she does which is not [13:32] true and it always comes off as toxic [13:34] and kind of hateful but when the two [13:37] friends are like always bickering with [13:39] each other like i think like for example [13:41] like in yu-gi-oh i kind of think of in a [13:44] sense you could say joey and tristan or [13:46] even that sometimes joey and mai or [13:49] solely you could say soul and maca [13:51] because they're basically the old [13:53] married couple of their group group but [13:55] like just friends who like know that [13:57] their friends deep down but are able to [13:59] kind of go back and forth with each [14:01] other as long as it never goes too far [14:04] in one direction of one person being [14:06] like that i can live with it [14:09] i like to agree to that um [14:12] i i do like the part about this where [14:14] they're like oh you like each other or [14:17] are friends or something and they're [14:18] like no i don't like that person at all [14:21] i've had some i have so many friendships [14:22] like that it's not even it's it's not [14:25] that part that part that part i don't [14:27] like as much but that's just for [14:28] personal reasons [14:31] oh [14:32] but yeah i'll i i can completely co-sign [14:34] on to this about [14:36] the bickering friends it's [14:39] a dynamic that [14:40] actually exists [14:42] but you know that when actual [ __ ] hits [14:45] the fan they're going to come together [14:46] and be friends yeah don't get me wrong [14:48] though there would be times when if like [14:50] you said if you and i were in the soul [14:52] leader world and we were all just chill [14:53] we were all just trying to get studying [14:55] done and we kept getting distracted i'm [14:56] like okay seoul monica when you two are [14:58] done bickering like an old married [14:59] couple can you guys like help us out [15:01] please [15:02] and the one i kind of want to tie back [15:04] to the delinquent friend like just [15:07] not necessarily the not necessarily [15:09] always breaking rules or causing crimes [15:12] or stuff like that but just the best [15:13] friend the best friend character who's [15:15] not all that bright who kind of gets [15:17] into fights with one of the girls but [15:19] like i said never like overtly like [15:22] think like [15:23] like i said ryuji from persona uh magna [15:26] from black clover [15:28] or i guess pretty much anybody from [15:30] beelzebub because they're all [15:31] delinquents it's just the friend that [15:34] has a big mouth but at the same time [15:36] will do anything to protect their [15:37] friends and this is the most vocal about [15:39] it [15:40] okay yeah i can [15:43] it's an interesting dynamic [15:47] but the link with friend is kind of a [15:49] weird scene because they [15:51] when it's an actual main character they [15:53] hardly ever do delinquent like things on [15:56] screen it's just they dress a certain [15:58] way and then they're called a delinquent [16:01] and then they're like no i'm not and [16:02] then magna will be like no i'm not [16:03] delinquent i'm like dude look at your [16:05] face [16:06] like i love you magna but like dude look [16:08] at your face [16:10] so [16:11] yeah [16:11] it's like all the side characters the [16:13] bullies that when they're actually [16:15] delinquents then you see them actually [16:18] do stuff yeah [16:20] heck i actually have an example of delay [16:23] because we talked that we've all talked [16:24] about we don't like the perverted cliche [16:26] because it just feels kind of wrong but [16:28] in daily lives of high school boys they [16:30] actually find a way a hilarious way of [16:32] doing it because the delinquents become [16:34] best friends with one of the girls from [16:36] their sister academy and they end up [16:38] looking up and they end up looking up [16:40] her skirt late into the series and as [16:42] she's leaving one of them looks it looks [16:44] he's just like what we did can't be [16:46] undone i feel so bad and then they're [16:48] like yeah i tried to tell you and then [16:50] at the bottom of the screen it says it's [16:52] the boy felt so bad and guilty about he [16:55] missed school for three days i'm like [16:56] that's what i want to see i want to see [16:58] more people who just feel inherently [17:00] guilty about being perverted but like i [17:02] said delinquent best friends and [17:03] bickering best friends just the friends [17:05] who you know will always be there for [17:07] you and who are vocal about it even if [17:10] they're a pain in the ass at times [17:12] yeah i can understand that and i i tend [17:15] to agree usually this kind of standard [17:17] characters [17:19] when they're not [17:21] annoying they're done well if they're [17:23] annoying then it gets [17:25] like it's not good i'll say well that's [17:27] it well that's everything i've never [17:28] thought this is annoying but i like [17:30] anyways what's your next one [17:32] all right um [17:34] so this one is [17:36] let's see which one do i get [17:38] um [17:42] pulling out of a random item it's [17:45] usually done for slapstick [17:47] i was about i was about to say please be [17:49] more specific with what you're talking [17:50] about because i heard pulling out in my [17:52] mind went completely elsewhere [17:54] well no that's on our hentai channel [17:56] jesus christ [17:58] hey if we get enough subscribers we [18:00] might have to anyways contain you please [18:03] but this is the stereotypical the giant [18:05] hammer the frying pan [18:08] uh [18:09] that's done a lot in anime i [18:11] i picture i i think chichi does the [18:13] frying pan on occasion usually when [18:15] she's kicking goku out to go work in the [18:16] fields [18:18] uh usopp uses the giant hammer with [18:20] actually this inflatable balloon in the [18:22] earlier part of the series [18:24] uh to scare one of the characters it [18:27] it's always played for laughs and it's [18:28] always someone who's not necessarily as [18:31] strong as the main characters but [18:34] they're [18:35] like everybody gets afraid when this [18:37] item gets pulled out yeah i'd also like [18:40] how in the rockley show 1010 would [18:42] always pull out that fan to smack lee [18:44] whenever he was doing something stupid [18:46] when in real life well in the actual [18:47] show we'd be thinking you know if she [18:49] was strong with that fan in that show [18:52] that she would be real in the actual [18:53] show she wouldn't get more screen time [18:56] but it would it would still be helpful [18:57] but i do agree i do agree gentama in [19:00] particular does a really good job uh [19:02] they even find a way to do a switcheroo [19:04] with it but i'll get into that with one [19:06] of my next points but yeah i i can i can [19:08] i can vibe with that especially [19:10] especially with that time in pokemon [19:12] where jesse just pulled out a frying pan [19:14] i know where to cook something but where [19:16] where did you get that you don't have [19:17] bet never mind that [19:19] some answers you just don't some [19:20] questions you don't want to know the [19:21] answer to [19:23] yeah and again it's always played for [19:24] laughs and it's usually [19:27] a funny moment [19:29] yeah but anyways my next one this is the [19:31] last one before honorable mentions right [19:34] yep [19:35] all right [19:36] just the nice wholesome characters look [19:39] look this is com [19:40] look the world is a nihilistic awful [19:43] place that that probably will be better [19:45] off once we're all off of it that being [19:47] said though it's nice to see people who [19:49] just try to do their best look on the [19:51] positive side i have things like [19:54] gordon gordon from black clothe over [19:58] her own era i mean best girl i mean yeah [20:01] best girl from nisa coe just characters [20:03] who try and look on the bright side of [20:05] things who really wouldn't do anything [20:07] to hurt a fly but do care about their [20:10] friends and some of them can be shy at [20:12] times and that can be annoying at some [20:14] points but it's just nice to see that [20:16] there are people out there who have some [20:18] joy in the world because lord knows a [20:20] lot of us don't have it [20:23] yeah it [20:26] it helps in anime i think when [20:30] especially when it's darker moments and [20:32] it's [20:33] uh someone trying to [20:37] put it they're [20:39] they they're still trying to stay [20:41] positive even in that dark moment it [20:44] it it can be a really good message for a [20:46] lot of people need to hear [20:48] yeah my favorite probably being in chief [20:51] from chile's just well to be fair she's [20:53] also learning more about the world so [20:55] she doesn't necessarily know how [20:57] nihilistic and and depressing it could [21:00] be at times but at the same time it's [21:01] just a nice change of pace and some [21:04] people might be saying oh well aren't [21:05] these people it's not really all that [21:07] realistic it sound like trust me i know [21:09] some wholesome people and admittedly i [21:11] do bicker with them at times but i do [21:13] appreciate their existence just like i [21:15] do in anime [21:18] yeah so [21:19] i'll agree to all that so my last one [21:21] and then honorable mentions let's do it [21:25] i'm gonna kind of combine these two [21:26] because they're both involve how [21:28] characters look at a moment so [21:32] the first one is first part of it is the [21:35] big colorful hair of the main cast [21:40] i think we've even mentioned this before [21:43] but it [21:44] one of my favorite things is to see the [21:46] crowd and then it's like yes the main [21:49] character one they're actually moving [21:51] and two they actually they've got hair [21:53] that's six times the size of everybody [21:55] else's and has usually [21:57] a bright primary color yeah yu-gi-oh [22:01] i feel like yu-gi-oh started the at for [22:03] the most part but then they're just like [22:05] you know what let's just go crazy with [22:06] it for everybody else [22:09] yeah it's so funny when you see those [22:10] crowd scenes and the crowds either [22:15] and then and then the main cast is all [22:17] talking around them and they don't move [22:18] from that position i swear i i've talked [22:21] about that before and it still creeps me [22:24] out to this day because i just think to [22:26] myself oh they're they're all listening [22:27] to our conversations like they have to [22:29] be they have to be listening to us [22:33] that is probably very true but [22:35] uh [22:36] again back to the big color for hair [22:38] it's [22:40] it makes the characters really pop and [22:43] i think one of my fav one of my favorite [22:45] moments and i don't remember what anime [22:46] it's from [22:48] it's [22:50] uh the main character has like the most [22:52] plain hair so that it's played the exact [22:54] opposite like everybody else has big [22:56] spiky colorful hair and they're like [22:59] they're like panning across and they [23:01] show like one student they're like [23:03] and this is me and they cut to the [23:05] i don't remember what it's called i've [23:07] only seen like a one or two episodes of [23:08] it [23:09] it's like [23:10] that is true and it makes me it i wanted [23:13] to watch more and i think i for i think [23:15] i stopped watching it and just never got [23:18] back to it yeah to be they kind of play [23:20] with that in psyche k because when it's [23:22] showing the normal guy it's like oh i [23:23] have to congratulate sato for all of his [23:25] normal stat hats in gym class first of [23:27] all why do you have those stats why are [23:29] you taking them now um and it's like oh [23:31] wait wait wait the camera missed oh oh [23:33] there he is sorry he's so blunt his hair [23:36] he and his hair are so bland that the [23:37] camera didn't notice him at first [23:42] and then the other one i wanted to talk [23:43] about uh that kind of [23:47] like a moment of a visual is the [23:50] glow means power in anime [23:54] when characters have this glow [23:57] it's either they've powered up they're [23:59] having some sort of emotional [24:02] control issue where they can't control [24:04] their power [24:05] something's going on and it means that [24:07] they've they're powering up past what [24:09] they normally are yeah or or it's in gag [24:12] anime that just means they're like super [24:14] happy [24:16] that too yeah it's [24:19] but it always means that something is [24:21] happening and it's [24:23] hey look at this person they're glowing [24:25] with power [24:26] yeah i can understand that [24:28] now it's not the one of the ones i think [24:30] about all that often but i definitely [24:32] don't mind it i i combined with it [24:35] but i mean it happens in like every [24:36] anime now like yeah i think pokemon's [24:39] done it [24:40] all the different [24:41] uh shonen animes do it and then most [24:44] comedy or slice of life enemies do it [24:46] when they have the person who's obsessed [24:48] with uh manga and stuff they're like i'm [24:51] gonna power up and then they show a glow [24:53] and then they don't usually don't end up [24:55] actually any stronger yeah yeah that [24:57] happens i mean i feel like saint sam [25:00] might have been like the first case [25:01] because that re because when they power [25:03] up up they re like they actually shows [25:06] like an aura around them like a glowing [25:07] and that eventually leads to some power [25:09] ups down line [25:10] i should talk about that [25:11] more on this channel [25:13] yeah i've i need to go back and watch [25:15] them and find where i can watch the [25:17] original series i've tried watching the [25:19] new one of st [25:21] apparently it's still on netflix so [25:23] or crunchyroll but either way honorable [25:26] mentions [25:27] exactly i actually ended up thinking of [25:29] another one so i'm on thr so i have [25:31] three honorable mentions [25:33] oh well i took mine down to sevens [25:36] combining those two so all right so i [25:38] guess i'll just [25:40] i'll just go with mine first fantasies [25:42] or skits [25:46] okay [25:47] like just be i just appreciate when [25:48] characters have active imaginations and [25:51] they'll just start and their [25:52] imaginations will just start coming up [25:54] with the most random stuff up that does [25:56] pertain to what's happening but but [25:58] they're just completely exaggerated and [25:59] people will be like uh no that's that's [26:02] not what it is particularly one of our [26:04] favorite ones from pokemon the boss [26:06] fantasy is where team rocket [26:09] it's like oh well let's get this pokemon [26:10] back to the boss and jesse and jim be [26:12] like why what's he gonna do with it and [26:14] then rather than showing oh he'll use [26:16] his powerful pokemon to fortify his [26:17] forces or everything he's like oh this [26:19] pokemon can give him a massage or this [26:21] pokemon can sing him to sleep or just [26:23] something something stupid like that but [26:26] my favorite ones of those were probably [26:27] the ones where things would go poorly [26:29] and giavanni would always be like meowth [26:31] and friends will pay for this and [26:32] they're all just like yeah let's not do [26:34] that let's keep it for ourselves or [26:36] something but just but just skits [26:39] fantasies a bunch of different it shows [26:42] off the imagination of the characters [26:44] and some of the more goofy stuff [26:47] yeah i [26:48] they're fun little excursions especially [26:51] when they're [26:52] a lot of times i've noticed they're also [26:54] done [26:55] like they lower the quality of the [26:57] animation by a lot for the fantasies or [26:59] change it to [27:01] like [27:02] drawings that are like [27:03] either a really bad drawer or kid drew [27:06] it and it's [27:07] it could be kind of cutesy and look [27:09] really funny so it's [27:11] i i tend to agree they're a fun little [27:14] escape yeah heck sometimes they even do [27:16] fan mail for that stuff like like in [27:18] gentama they have a see they have fancy [27:20] work gentoki is like a teacher and this [27:23] and all the other characters are in [27:24] school or stuff like that [27:26] and one of the family questions was [27:27] what's gintama about i don't get it edit [27:30] and then the author himself said yeah i [27:31] don't get it either i don't understand [27:34] but it's just it's just a fun [27:36] distraction it never feels like too much [27:39] it especially helps with the two nibio [27:41] characters with but i've talked about [27:42] them before so i'm not going to get too [27:44] much into that [27:46] all right see you next time i'll mention [27:48] all right [27:49] this is this one this one's gonna be a [27:51] little bit of weird one like i [27:53] but character songs like just [27:55] music that pops up for certain [27:57] characters like the delinquent character [27:59] shows up they'll have a certain track [28:01] from for background music the whole sum [28:03] character just that sort of thing [28:06] it honestly it it's one of those things [28:08] where it really upsets me that when i [28:10] hear this like they don't have like cds [28:12] or stuff because i would be listening to [28:13] this all the time but [28:15] it's it's a nice way of making the [28:17] characters feel a little more special [28:22] yeah i i've noticed that a lot of animes [28:25] especially lately [28:28] uh [28:29] have [28:30] like [28:31] one theme [28:33] that's [28:34] for everybody for that [28:36] sudden appearance thing so i i tend to [28:39] agree when it does when they do get [28:40] individual ones [28:42] it does feel more special and [28:44] more earned i would guess is the right [28:46] term yeah but like it's an honorable [28:48] mention so i didn't want to harp on it [28:49] too much [28:51] all right and my last one i really hope [28:53] this is on your list training arcs or [28:55] just characters actually training [28:58] it is honorable mention [29:01] i'll move it to honorable which i was [29:02] going to discuss it a bit more but oh [29:04] damn but just just just characters [29:06] actually growing stronger and not [29:08] sitting with their thumbs up their asses [29:10] just it's seeing all the progressions [29:12] and stuff they go to and thinking to [29:14] myself wow i could never actually do [29:16] this [29:17] but in all seriousness it's nice to see [29:19] the characters actually want to improve [29:21] if it's for a special attack an upcoming [29:24] battle or if it's just that or if it's [29:26] just oh i have to get stronger and like [29:28] actually learn to beat make friends in [29:30] class and and they have like weird [29:32] training sequences just just that sort [29:34] of thing it's nice to see [29:37] yeah they could be so unique i mean i [29:38] think back to the original [29:40] one in dragon ball [29:42] where [29:43] it's [29:45] uh goku and krillin running with 50 [29:48] pound turtle shells on their back [29:49] delivering milk to the residents of an [29:51] island that's literally their training [29:53] to get stronger [29:57] that's that's some that's some that's [29:59] some karate kid stuff like the wax on [30:01] wax off thing but that feels a little [30:03] more useful than hey [30:05] hey wash clean my car but yeah i [30:08] think that like as like we said there [30:10] are so many different unique ways of [30:11] going about whether it's serious or [30:13] completely comedic they find ways of [30:15] making it interesting every time [30:18] yeah and they're [30:20] all over the place they've again [30:23] as you said they could also be in other [30:25] styles not just fighting and shown in [30:28] animes they can uh [30:30] literally show them [30:32] doing physical training to overcome [30:35] like [30:35] social anxiety or speaking in front of [30:38] people they'll show them doing physical [30:39] exercises to train for it's like [30:42] wait why are we doing this [30:45] it's just like the writers are just like [30:47] you know what we kind of just let the [30:48] character go off so we're [30:51] we all want to go home let's just let's [30:52] just move on we're good [30:55] yeah that was going to be my final one [30:57] but i'll uh [30:59] just so i'll uh go down to one honorable [31:02] mention and then my final one as well [31:04] okay [31:06] let's see so i kind of touched on this i [31:09] think in our previous one where [31:12] the [31:13] uh how to put it the [31:17] uh heroes running late to the fight was [31:20] the original topic i was about to say i [31:22] was about to say you brought this up you [31:24] brought this up on both videos [31:28] but this one is [31:30] the [31:31] all hope is lost moment [31:34] it could be [31:36] they think um i think of like the frieza [31:38] moment when he [31:40] uh [31:41] everyone like that moment right when he [31:44] comes out of the water after everyone [31:46] thinks he's dead before the super saiyan [31:48] transformation [31:50] that feeling of [31:52] that was goku's best attack and [31:54] this guy and all he did was piss him off [31:56] more [31:58] i'll still never understand how we [32:00] survived that [32:04] no idea but [32:05] it's that moment the [32:07] hero maybe have been on time this time [32:11] but something's happened though all loss [32:14] of hope um in berserk i think of the [32:17] final [32:18] uh part where uh [32:20] guts is uh pretty much being [32:23] eaten alive i think at that point i [32:25] don't know what else to house to [32:27] describe it [32:28] and [32:29] uh [32:30] what's his name the [32:32] the guy who transforms in the end uh is [32:35] uh pretty much turned into an e the bad [32:37] guy griffith griffith yes i was let's [32:39] say we've been friends for a reason long [32:41] enough and you're forgetting characters [32:42] from berserk he's gonna find you for [32:43] that [32:45] it's been a long time since i've watched [32:46] berserk [32:48] but i i guess one of the things for me i [32:50] guess my dragon ball example would [32:52] probably be one once piccolo died in the [32:54] sand that's not because i was like oh [32:56] crap that's [32:59] krillin you might want to bust out that [33:01] destructive disc thing because that's [33:03] that's the only chance you all got at [33:04] this point or heck at the end of i don't [33:07] remember the [33:08] specifically what the ark was called but [33:10] in solely they're one of the arcs or [33:12] ends pretty much like we failed we fail [33:16] old guys and the world doesn't look good [33:19] right now [33:22] i mean another [33:23] good example of kind of all hope is [33:25] lost [33:26] uh that i remember a lot from a kid and [33:29] it's kind of a tragedy loss of a friend [33:31] moment similar to the grief yeah it's in [33:34] mega man nt warrior at the end of the [33:37] net one grand prix when mega man's [33:39] deleted [33:41] and [33:42] it's like oh [33:46] yeah we're kind of screwed here because [33:48] we don't have him anymore [33:50] lamb did you back him up no that that [33:52] concept doesn't exist yet i'm like oh [33:54] damn oh damn [33:56] this is why we like this is why i like [33:58] geo more [34:01] but anyways yeah i could it's a good way [34:03] to sell the trauma and just the [34:06] potential heartbreak the characters [34:08] could be facing right before the [34:10] character showing up late thing because [34:12] that's usually what it's followed by [34:16] and [34:16] or a sudden power up or [34:19] the power of friendship [34:21] yeah i was gonna say the uh the group [34:23] uniting and standing up again to fight [34:25] the bad guy once more and somehow [34:28] they're half healed again even though [34:30] they might have suffered a punch through [34:31] the stomach or [34:33] limbs pretty much broken off [34:35] yeah but basically like we can't have [34:38] everybody die richard we can't have [34:40] everybody die in the anime because like [34:42] that would be so much more depressing [34:44] i'm not saying that they're all dead i'm [34:46] just saying [34:47] they literally had arms legs [34:50] broken and then they s and then they get [34:52] up and continue fighting there it's like [34:54] no someone else needs to stand up here [34:56] you're crippled pretty much right now [34:58] yeah but i do i do understand oh yeah i [35:01] can i can agree with that [35:04] all right so [35:06] what is your final entry point to this i [35:09] i have a feel you know i i didn't expect [35:12] training arcs to necessarily be on your [35:14] list because i actually expected this to [35:15] be on this one to be on your list but i [35:17] just i can't not i can't not mention it [35:20] i feel stupid that we didn't even [35:21] mention it last time [35:24] tournaments [35:26] we really didn't mention that last time [35:27] no we did not we did not we were not a [35:30] good channel back then although to be [35:32] fair we're not a good channel right now [35:34] but regardless tournaments are awesome [35:37] dragon ball oh yukihaku show oh just [35:40] tournaments are just fun and there's [35:42] usually it usually helps when there's [35:44] something at stake to them like a grand [35:47] prize or hey hey if we don't win they're [35:50] going to kill all of us just it's nice [35:52] because it usually gives a good variety [35:54] of characters something to do [35:56] sure we're not all expecting side [35:58] character number 25 to do to win the [36:00] whole tournament for the main heroes but [36:03] it's nice to see that they're that for [36:05] the most part they might be able to do [36:06] some damage or at least like learn a new [36:08] power-up or something like that [36:12] i mean [36:13] we've talked about it a lot on this [36:14] channel already but the tuning exams is [36:16] a good example because it it introduces [36:20] the kona 11 and the sand [36:23] siblings [36:25] and lets you get to know them [36:27] learn their powers learn [36:29] kind of where they stack and the [36:31] power between all of them at this point [36:33] that i think [36:34] unfortunately after the tuning exams [36:36] doesn't really go away you don't really [36:38] change that much position anymore [36:40] yeah it's just it's just and normally [36:43] for the most part anyway the fights are [36:46] if anything i feel like tournament [36:47] fights are where they the animators and [36:49] the writers decide to step it up [36:50] actually and it's not just the best part [36:53] nowadays it's not even hey what if you [36:55] knock out your opponent or you kill your [36:56] opponent you win like there are other [36:58] things like hey you have to protect this [37:00] part of the bay so you have to do this [37:02] sort of thing black clover had an [37:04] awesome tournament episode and it was [37:06] completely filler it's just hey all the [37:08] captains get together do just fight do [37:11] whatever you want uh and it was an [37:13] awesome episode what [37:15] it's just it's tournament tournaments [37:16] are cool like if you don't like [37:18] tournaments you're not gonna think what [37:20] are you doing here go get lost [37:22] go away [37:25] yeah i kind of include like [37:28] olympic games style stuff in this as [37:30] well where it's teams of people [37:32] competing in different activities so it [37:34] doesn't necessarily all have to be [37:36] fights for this it could be [37:39] i mean i've mentioned the uh fairy tale [37:41] grand magic games arc when it comes to [37:43] this stuff there is fighting in it but [37:45] there's also [37:47] ah god one of them's like the train [37:50] where characters have to run on a train [37:53] uh style thing uh and make it to the [37:56] front from the [37:57] end of it to the beginning of it uh [37:59] while it's moving and [38:01] uh different obstacles are coming so it [38:03] can be different things it doesn't [38:04] necessarily have to be physical fights [38:06] heck in hunter x hunter i'm pretty sure [38:08] there was a volleyball tournament in one [38:10] arc but i could i could be thinking [38:11] about something else [38:13] no i'm pretty sure there is there's also [38:15] rock paper scissors [38:17] i think that's [38:18] more of a move but [38:20] yeah but base basically it they're just [38:23] they're just they're just fun [38:25] they're just fun and we just get some [38:27] awesome moments between characters and [38:29] just them getting stronger and sad but [38:31] sadly it's the peak for some characters [38:34] because you know some after this we're [38:35] never going to see them get this strong [38:36] again [38:39] yeah unfortunately i think of that as [38:40] like [38:41] the yamcha's and the krillins [38:43] yamcha comes back supposed to be strong [38:45] and then [38:47] he's kicked out in like what the second [38:48] round of the original tournament and [38:50] then [38:51] his legs broken by tien in the first [38:53] round the next year yeah and like [38:56] like going back to pokemon a lot of [38:58] people will tell me you know i don't [39:00] watch pokemon on a consistent basis [39:02] anymore but when the tournaments for at [39:04] the end of the season starts that's when [39:07] i check in and honestly i'm i'm kind of [39:09] with them on that now sure we all know [39:11] not every tournament is going to be [39:12] amazing but i'm willing to let [39:15] tournaments continue because with every [39:18] mediocre or even bad one we get there [39:20] are tons of ones that are just brilliant [39:23] masterpieces [39:25] yep i tend to agree i remember i only [39:28] watched what the first [39:30] season [39:31] theories of [39:33] sun and moon and then came back [39:36] after it fit after it wrapped up and [39:38] watched the [39:39] uh [39:40] finals in that one so [39:42] i've seen pretty much i think i think [39:44] i've even seen parts of the black and [39:46] white one uh just to see what happens in [39:48] there but still no we're gonna have to [39:50] just completely finish black and white [39:52] at some point you know that right never [39:54] we have to we have to [39:57] but anyways what's your last one [40:00] so this is one that i [40:02] love and hate at the exact same time [40:07] and [40:09] it it's [40:11] it is stupid [40:14] when you think about it but [40:16] it it it's it always happens in enemy [40:19] swords are better than guns [40:24] go ahead [40:26] so in almost every anime [40:29] there uh that involves [40:31] someone who's a master sword fighter [40:33] they're going to face someone with a a [40:36] gun they're going to chop the bullet in [40:37] half they're going to beat the person it [40:40] doesn't matter that [40:41] oh they were a sniper and 100 [40:44] meters away shooting it's [40:46] they're still going to run up and [40:48] chop the gun into pieces or [40:50] disarm them that person with the gun [40:53] never wins [40:54] yeah battlefield friends will be far [40:56] more interesting when the characters [40:58] start using swords and stuff like that [41:00] but i i do it's a it's a funny cliche to [41:03] me to think of like all right i i have [41:06] this person tracked i have know [41:08] everything about them their vital [41:10] sponsors everything and the guy with the [41:11] swords like [41:12] sword gober and then just takes them out [41:15] it's silly but to me it's just the right [41:18] amount of silly [41:20] exactly it's [41:22] one of those things every so often i do [41:24] kind of want the [41:25] indiana jones thing where the person [41:28] comes out and is doing all their sword [41:29] moves and the person just pulls out [41:31] their gun shoots them and walks away but [41:34] you never get that really an anime you [41:35] get you get the [41:37] i'm gonna shoot you from 100 meters away [41:39] you'll never get close to me and then [41:41] the person takes off running with the [41:43] sword and man just close the distance [41:45] and [41:45] take them out so yeah it happens all the [41:49] time at least it seems like [41:51] yeah the only time i'll really start [41:52] hitting it is when the sword itself [41:54] starts shooting actual bullets then i'm [41:56] act then i'm going to be like all right [41:57] this is jump this this is officially [41:59] jumped to the shark it's jump the keys [42:01] to me [42:02] [Music] [42:03] i mean yeah i think that's even happened [42:06] well i don't mean i don't mean like [42:08] energy blasts or something like that i [42:09] mean like the sword actually starts [42:11] firing bullets like a gun that's that's [42:13] what i'm going to be like all right i [42:15] got i gotta kick richard's ass for this [42:16] i'm gonna yell at him for this [42:18] no i think it's happened before i think [42:20] it might be in tri-gun or something it's [42:23] quite possible with something like that [42:25] oh my god your robber you're probably [42:27] not even wrong but [42:29] i i can side with that like i said it's [42:31] just goofy enough for me to it's goofy [42:33] enough for me to like i can tolerate it [42:36] exactly it's [42:38] one of my ones that i love to hate [42:41] but i still love it [42:43] [Music] [42:44] so i'm starting to find out what you [42:46] love to hate now and i'm i'm not quite [42:48] sure how i feel about it but [42:50] i guess that i guess that's that that's [42:53] all we have that's all for today [42:55] yeah i believe so [42:57] all right so ladies gentlemen and others [42:58] which what anime cliches that [43:01] what anime cliches do you love of do you [43:03] like the more wholesome characters like [43:05] the characters who will do anything for [43:07] their friends or just be supportive for [43:10] stuff like that or d are you one of [43:12] those people like richard you're just [43:14] like oh i like when all hope is lost and [43:16] people just are just empty and sad that [43:18] sort of thing just let us know what [43:20] cliches do you like that we haven't [43:21] really talked about just that sort of [43:23] thing [43:24] exactly and also let us know if there's [43:26] any that like how i like [43:28] love to hate [43:30] it seems like i have a lot of lovey uh [43:32] cliches here yeah but yours are more [43:34] your love hate stuff with anime is more [43:36] than anger and mine's more i'm just [43:38] laughing like an idiot also just let us [43:40] know what other sequel videos would you [43:42] like for us because i do because i'm [43:44] gonna be honest we could do the our [43:46] favorite anime arcs we could do that [43:48] video forever but we could also do the [43:50] anime arcs that need fixing thing [43:53] oh and the worst anime episodes i have [43:55] so much i have so much ammunition for [43:57] everything nowadays so we could do this [44:00] for a while [44:02] exactly um [44:04] i think our next episode might be uh [44:06] kind of how we feel about the new [44:08] pokemon games coming out because this is [44:11] actually coming out on or this has been [44:12] filmed on the day that those games are [44:14] being released so yeah that is correct [44:17] and we get to talk about just how awful [44:19] and dreadful those games are and how [44:21] game freak is screwing us over or talk [44:24] about how we're going to start kissing [44:25] game for each feet because they know [44:27] everything of what we want or we're just [44:29] like somewhere in between like [44:31] or just like i like it but or i hate it [44:34] but i don't like it but like it's i [44:36] don't know people get crazy about stuff [44:38] on the internet we try to be a little [44:39] more tame about it for the most part [44:42] exactly [44:44] but anyways we will catch you guys later [44:46] thank you for listening comment and buy [44:49] the stuff on the shop and everything and [44:51] we will see you guys next time this has [44:53] been alex [44:54] and richard and you've been listening to [44:56] the anime egotists [44:59] good night [45:00] and peace easy
