[00:01] strategy video for you guys today. This is going to be an 11 versus a dealer's 10. This was a comment sent in by Randy Jefferson. Um, if you have a hand that that down below in the comments, and I'm going to be playing it out 100 times one
[00:13] way versus 100 times the other way. For this particular one, we're going to do a strategy says over here. I'll kind of get a chip count. We'll start with 30 in But then the other hand is going to be a hit. So, this is what basic strategy
[00:26] hit. So, this is what basic strategy says is to double. And to hit is what maybe a Ploppy might do or someone who isn't a card counter advantage player, hands here, 100 hands here, and we're going to kind of get a quick snapshot of
[00:40] to be an interesting one for me because it sometimes it seems like, you know, maybe it would be better to hit. Is it really worth that extra bet when you 10's pretty good hand for the dealer.
[00:54] on this one. Um, but we are going to be, let me get the cards here. We are going let me get the cards here. We are going to be playing with an 11 in this spot where we're going to double down and an 11 in this spot where we're just going
[01:08] 11 in this spot where we're just going to hit. All right. Versus a dealer's 10. So, a couple things with this one. If the dealer has an ace as their uh whole right away. And I'm going to be using chips on this one since this guy will be
[01:21] betting more, right, than this one. And so we can kind of get a chip count at the end to see what's um the winner or loser that way even my if it's different on paper. Um and then the second thing with that is this currently is a count
[01:34] of one two and back to one. So there's a slight positive count with the cards that are out here. Typically I try to make it neutral. And because of that with that slightly larger count I'm going to be using eight decks and try to
[01:47] get as many cards out as possible to kind of mitigate that slightly higher us. I'll try a few rounds with you and I'll throw it into a hyperlapse so I'm I'll throw it into a hyperlapse so I'm not wasting your whole day.

[03:17] have 20, whereas this guy is just going to hit and they have 18. So, pretty good hands to start with. And it looks like the dealer busted. So, regardless, uh, they're both going to be winners. However, we have, you know what,
[03:33] I might switch these really quick for the way my chip tray is set up. switch my whole chip tray. So, I think it's like this. Anyway, um, now this one is a winner. they would get one chip
[03:47] whereas these guys would get two chips. So even though this one might lose a little bit, I have a feeling, this is just kind of my hypothesis, right? I have a feeling that when they do win, we're going to be winning double. Um and
[04:01] I feel like maybe the losses would be about the same. So I don't know. I think they would probably both get taken that way. So maybe I'm wrong. We'll see. But I'll stack these up. And I also need to write down the results of that one. So
[04:13] in this case, they're both winners. But those winds are not created equal. Right? This was just one extra chip whereas this was two extra chips. So that's why we're going to keep a chip count as well. Okay, I'll take these
[04:26] do maybe two more and I'll throw it into a hyperlapse after that. And a whole card just in case um it is an ace. All right, we're going to double down here. Nice. 21. And then this one just gets another one. So, um, in this case, those
[04:41] again are both wins, but we get one chip there versus two chips over on this side. So, even though they're both wins, this guy is currently they're both wins, this guy is currently up four chips to two.
[04:56] Okay, I'll do it like that. Take those cards out of there. And let's try it again. So, let's see. This is the um whole card. So, they'll need to take another card this time. All right. So, this is a
[05:10] great example of why this is an interesting hand to do is because you could pull an ace. Now, you're only at 11, which really isn't that great. All right. This guy's going to hit and let's say they were to going to get like a two
[05:23] or something. I'd keep hitting because really it's the 10 that's the up card. The two is the whole card. All right. But they hit and um that is now 20. So, not too bad of a hand there. dealer has 13 and also 20. So that was actually a
[05:38] 13 and also 20. So that was actually a push, but this one was a loss. Okay, so push, but this one was a loss. Okay, so we have a loss for the we have a loss for the uh basic strategy and a push
[05:51] over here for the hits. All right, I'm going to throw the rest of this into a hyperlapse. I'll be back with you when I've done a hundred of each, both I've done a hundred of each, both doubling down and hitting.

[09:42] kind of interesting is how this worked. Um I noticed that uh the double down at the beginning, I'll do this so we know it's a double. Um the double down at the think it was just variance, but then it kind of rallied back and it was well
[09:57] uh hands that we played, it was outperforming the other one. And we'll see just how much here in a bit. But uh let's go over the results and just kind of see what was going on and then we'll talk about maybe why. All right. So, uh,
[10:12] when we doubled down, that's what basic strategy says to do. Uh, there was 50 wins as opposed to hitting. There was only 47. So, it was better in my only 100 or I guess 200 hands, 100 of doubling down versus 100 of hitting. Uh,
[10:26] it was better. We won more uh by doubling. However, we also lost more. Um, we lost 44 times as opposed to only 42 times uh with doubling. Remember, you lose double the amount because you double down. Um, however, we also pushed
[10:42] and when we pushed, we didn't obviously lose any there. Um, but if I were to take these kind of at face value, uh, if we sort of swap some of those numbers a little bit, then there was definitely more pushes down here, by the way, too,
[10:57] which is interesting. But, uh, this one, you could say that if I were to think of this as like double, right? I would need double the winds to make up for it. And it actually ended up being about even in that regard. So you could maybe think of
[11:12] it that way. Um something that I thought was interesting is if I kind of get these back out here is we did a lot of times draw 10 and then that was almost there was maybe once where the dealer drew to 21 and I think both of these
[11:29] guys had 21s as well. They both also had a 10. Um, however, uh, usually almost would win. And of course, we double up our chips, which is hugely advantageous.
[11:41] However, one thing that would happen is, uh, let's say we give their the dealer down just so you can kind of see how this would normally work. And, uh, this guy would get maybe a really terrible starting hand, like a 12. But remember,
[11:56] to you upside down. So, we really don't know what that is. It could be ace through 10. Uh it could be the best 21 or the worst which would be 12 that we could potentially get there. This case it is a 12. Um and this guy would get
[12:10] like let's say it was 11 now it's 15. So they have to hit again and then they would bust. So I would take this one. Now I'm seeing all this though upside down and a lot of times it was like this where this guy would bust. This guy has
[12:24] a terrible hand of 12. But the dealer also maybe had something really low like a 13 and then they would pull a 10 valued card or something to bust and so even with a bad hand they would double down because this guy had to end up
[12:38] strategy said. So that was also relatively often. Um, I think if I remember right, there was either four, maybe five times where I drew, um, an ace. And so before I could even get the
[12:51] ace. And so before I could even get the hand started, there was um, I would have to pull out all these, right? Oops. Did I get I might have taken that one away. So I put that one back because we need to count those up for the end. Um, so if
[13:04] that happened, I think again about four or five times, which again kind of makes side of things because you are about likely about one in 13 hand since there's one out of 13 cards in a suit is an ace. So, uh there probably should
[13:20] So, we probably got a little bit of positive variance, you might say. Um anyway, let's count up our chips and just kind of see where we ended up with. should be good. So, remember we started with 30, which these should all be even
[13:36] piles there of 10. So obviously this guy ended up with more. We both ended up winning which hitting is kind of like the last hand I did on here. I don't remember quite was it was soft 17 versus a dealer seven I think it was. Um I
[13:51] thing here. Both these were positive. So the person who would maybe tells you, oh the person who would maybe tells you, oh I always win or I win more when I hit my 11 versus dealer's 10. Yeah, you probably do. Okay, cuz you do end up
[14:03] probably do. Okay, cuz you do end up becoming a winner. You will win more if you double down when you're supposed to. So this guy won five chips, you might So this guy won five chips, you might say, whereas this guy won 10 and 14. So
[14:19] say, whereas this guy won 10 and 14. So about nine more chips or units compared to the other guy. Now, this is also going to be um kind of it increases exponentially if you're a card counter because a basic strategy player who just
[14:35] because a basic strategy player who just flat bets their one chip every time. Um they will become a winning player if they just double down on their 11 versus dealers 10 or I should say if they hit their 10 11 versus dealer 10 or even if
[14:48] they double down. But if you're a card counter and you double that, well, whether it's your flat bets of one chip or let's say you have max bets out there of whatever, let's say it's like $400, then if you double down, well, that's
[15:04] going to again kind of get sort of exponentially better because not only is there more money out there, but when the count is higher, you are likely more likely to pull um a higher valued card like a 10 and therefore get 21. So, uh
[15:18] that is why um you should do this. Um and then again, remember the count these two hands every single time. Again, uh these take a lot of time. Uh to film all this. So, if you wouldn't mind, please hit that thumbs up button.
