## Summary

Starting July 1, 2023, Twitch streamers must label any content produced during brand or sponsorship collaborations as branded content. This video explains what qualifies as branded content, the nuances of existing brand relationships, and how to easily disclose paid promotions to stay compliant and avoid strikes.

### Key Points

- **New Branded Content Rules** [00:00] — From July 1, 2023, any content produced while working with a brand or sponsorship must be labeled as branded content.
- **Nuances for Existing Relationships** [00:41] — Long-standing brand relationships allow certain displays without disclosure: offline page panels promoting a brand, merchandise in camera view not actively discussed, affiliate links shared in response to community questions, and mentioning a sponsor in passing without active promotion.
- **Two Steps Before Streaming** [01:49] — First, ensure the brand falls within Twitch's community guidelines. Second, disclose the paid promotion before going live using Twitch's built-in toggle in the dashboard.
- **Easy Disclosure Tool** [02:19] — In the Twitch dashboard under 'Edit Stream,' there is a button to indicate you're working with a brand. When active, a notification appears in the top corner of the stream, similar to YouTube or commercial disclosures.
- **Compliance Deadline** [03:05] — Disclosure becomes mandatory on July 1, 2023. Streamers should get into the habit now to protect themselves and avoid strikes.

### Conclusion

Twitch streamers must start using the built-in disclosure tool for branded content by July 1, 2023, to comply with new rules. Understanding the nuances of what requires disclosure helps maintain long-term brand relationships while staying safe.

## Transcript

if you're a streamer on Twitch that wants to make more money which means you're gonna start reaching out to Brands and sponsorships starting July 1st 2023 any content you produce while you're working with a brand or sponsorship needs to be labeled as branded content lucky for you I'm going to show
you exactly what qualifies for Branded content the small nuances and how easy it is to divulge this information so that way you're safe on Twitch here we go what is up all you awesome twitch streamers
while I'm here making them bigger and better with everything twitch and when it comes to branded content and paid promotions that's the New World Order you're gonna see that everywhere and starting July 1st 2023 twitch is going to enforce it when it comes to what is branded content and
what is not branded content I already did a video on that and you can check that out in the top right corner or in the video description however there are nuances when it comes to products and sponsorships because a lot of streamers out there have long lasting relationships with
certain brands and services and it makes it okay to show those things off to an extent and those things that kind of Slide by Under The Radar are the fact that if you have an offline page
that has panels promoting a brand or sponsorship that's allowed you have merchandise memorabilia or products in your camera view but are not being paid to actively discuss or to promote them that
is allowed hence the strategically placed Elgato boxes and products that I have around here that's perfectly fine you or your mods share affiliate links in response to questions from the community that is perfectly fine you mention a sponsor in passing but are not actively promoting the product
or service in exchange for payment once again that is perfectly fine so those are the little nuances when it comes to branded content along with that other video that I've mentioned beforehand once
you know that you're going to work with a brand you have to do two things before you actually start streaming on Twitch to protect you as well as the other parties in your community and that is making sure that that brand Falls within the community guidelines and policies of twitch and
which goes over entirely once you know that the brand is okay to start streaming on Twitch for a paid promotion or sponsorship or whatever it is next you need to disclose that before
you hit that go live button and twitch makes this extremely easy in fact when you go to your Twitch dashboard there and you go to the edit stream almost the last option there is basically clicking
on a button that shows that you're working with a brand and you're disclosing the information so when you start streaming and somebody goes into your stream one of those boxes that you've always seen on a YouTube video or even a commercial will pop up in the top Corner saying that if you have
a paid promotion or you're being sponsored yeah kind of like that right there makes it nice and simple this way it protects you protects the brand protects twitch protects your community and best of all hey you start making money disclosing your streams are going to be a must like I said on July
1st 2023 so make sure you get into the habit of doing this with the brands that you're working with so you're protected and don't get any strikes on yourself now when it comes to reaching out and working with Brands and more importantly start making some money while you're live streaming on
Twitch hey I've got a video that's going to be perfect for that that I'm working on for you so you know what you need to do smash that subscribe button leave me a comment down below and what you want to see in that video and I will see you in the next one but until then make sure
you check out the videos over to my side and as always love you all take care and of course Peace
