[0:00] look this is my previous Channel's view [0:01] graph and right here is the last video [0:04] I've posted to YouTube that hasn't [0:06] reached 100,000 views two weeks later I [0:08] posted this video now almost at a [0:10] million views but it wasn't a lucky [0:12] accident even my first videos on a brand [0:14] new channel got tens of thousands of [0:16] views in just a few weeks so how did I [0:18] go from making videos getting just a few [0:21] hundred views to making videos getting [0:23] hundreds of thousands of views in only 2 [0:25] weeks well what do you think what's the [0:28] difference between these two videos [0:33] [Music] [0:35] here's a hint a secret seed is a special [0:37] code that changes how the game normally [0:39] works this lets people play with a brand [0:41] new experience this video pours over [0:43] everything to say for one secret seed [0:46] and this one offers to find the craziest [0:48] seats so how many people do you think [0:50] are interested in just one feature of [0:52] the game how many do you think are [0:54] interested in the craziest most bizarre [0:56] most difficult things that the game [0:58] offers this right here is what I like to [1:00] call a popular area of Interest likewise [1:03] this is an unpopular area of Interest so [1:05] here's the deal I would need to make [1:07] well over a thousand videos for that [1:09] unpopular area of interest to be able to [1:12] match the views I got with one video in [1:14] the popular area of Interest so I really [1:17] can't put into words how worth it it was [1:19] to spend these 5 days researching and [1:21] brainstorming I know it sounds like a [1:22] while but hitting the bullseye of a [1:24] popular area of interest is extremely [1:27] difficult however my process is yet to [1:29] fail me so I want to share it with you [1:31] today in part one we'll find the popular [1:33] area of interest of your audience in [1:35] part two I'll walk you through getting [1:36] so creative that you get more video [1:38] ideas than you could possibly make [1:40] videos on and then in part three we'll [1:41] go over my checklist that identifies [1:43] which ideas are worth making part one [1:45] finding what your audience wants to see [1:47] it's a simple process we'll create a [1:49] list of the videos that your audience [1:50] has shown the most interest in and then [1:52] look for patterns which reveal what [1:54] sorts of things your audience is looking [1:55] for I'll be using this tool called [1:57] videoo to automate this but I'll show [1:58] you how to do it manually as well first [2:00] let's find the videos YouTube says your [2:02] current audience is watching in the [2:03] YouTube Studio go to analytics and then [2:06] audience if you scroll down a bit you'll [2:07] see these two panels the videos your [2:09] audience watches and the channels they [2:11] watch now I'm going to link the channels [2:13] and also the ones here uploading the [2:14] videos into videoo which will [2:16] automatically find all the videos but if [2:18] you're following along manually then [2:19] don't worry you don't need to find every [2:21] single video we only need each Channel's [2:23] top 15 or so most viewed videos in your [2:25] list anyway now we have a list of the [2:27] videos your current audience is watching [2:29] but I'm guessing your current audience [2:31] is kind of small so we want to get your [2:32] potential audience as well start by [2:34] considering any other channels you know [2:36] of that your audience might like and you [2:37] can also just open up some of the videos [2:39] in your list and add any relevant [2:41] channels that appear in the suggested [2:42] column now spend at least an hour [2:44] building up this list because the best [2:46] results come when you have pretty much [2:48] every video your target audience watches [2:50] in one place obviously there's not a [2:51] single viewer who's watched all of these [2:53] or hopefully not but most of the top [2:55] viewed videos have been watched by a [2:57] decent chunk of your target audience [2:59] therefore these videos reveal your [3:01] audience's criteria for a great video [3:03] idea sort the videos out by most viewed [3:05] and look for patterns first note down [3:07] any reoccurring topics you find here but [3:09] let's go deeper than just topics let's [3:11] find out exactly why they've shown the [3:13] most interest in these videos you can [3:15] see my audience loves learning the [3:16] strategies behind how the best creators [3:18] are growing the top 12 videos are [3:20] exactly that so I know that's a great [3:22] format to explore with future ideas [3:24] there's actually way too many of these [3:26] case study videos here so I'm going to [3:27] temporarily hide the channels making [3:29] them now almost all of the other videos [3:31] are either suggesting some method to [3:32] quickly get results or it's about how to [3:34] improve your video editing so I'll make [3:36] a note to brainstorm ideas in that [3:37] direction and there's a whole lot more [3:39] to study with this as well what pain [3:41] points goals and subjects get the most [3:43] views does a positive or negative [3:45] approach work better what words seem to [3:47] demand attention what concepts do they [3:49] enjoy the most for example on my gaming [3:52] channel I found the concept of playing [3:54] the game with a Twist on it had the most [3:55] interest chaotic looking thumbnails got [3:57] a lot of attention too videos based on [3:59] questions did great as well I know it [4:01] sounds like I'm just rapid fire listing [4:03] off all of these but remember I spent [4:05] days researching all of this you're [4:07] going to get stuck at first and that's [4:09] okay just remember how crazy a good [4:12] video idea is on screen right now is all [4:14] the stuff that you need to study I [4:16] recommend writing it all down to make [4:18] kind of a research checklist because in [4:20] just a moment we're going to need all of [4:22] this stuff for our brainstorming so part [4:24] two or step two I don't know getting a [4:26] ton of ideas so there's two strategies [4:28] that I've been doing to get get my ideas [4:30] the strategy that's given me the most [4:31] views is what gave me the idea for this [4:33] video on my gaming channel and these two [4:35] title ideas on the education Channel but [4:37] actually most of my ideas come from this [4:39] first strategy just being more creative [4:41] let me explain even a brand new idea is [4:45] always made from stuff that came before [4:46] it no one 3,000 years ago could have [4:48] been creative enough to invent the [4:50] printing press we only just started [4:51] making paper but once all the components [4:54] were around it just took someone who [4:55] knew a lot about them to be able to [4:57] combine them so just as Gutenberg knew [4:59] all the components of his invention very [5:01] well we must know the components of [5:03] possible video ideas very well those [5:05] components are the concepts your [5:06] audience loves the subjects they're [5:08] interested in their pain points wants [5:10] and needs research everything possibly [5:12] related to each of these go down every [5:15] rabbit hole and search for new stuff [5:17] that hasn't been seen before [5:18] fundamentally your ideas are simply [5:21] unique combinations of different [5:23] information so the more knowledge you [5:24] have and the more diverse the knowledge [5:26] is the more UniQue Ideas you get now I'm [5:28] going to give you some HK work this is [5:30] what I've been doing to be more creative [5:32] and you should do it too get a notebook [5:33] to write down all your research notes in [5:35] then every single day quickly review [5:37] your notes therefore you'll remember all [5:39] this stuff and find yourself thinking [5:40] about it throughout the day we haven't [5:42] actually gotten to the brainstorming yet [5:44] but still at this point if you spend [5:46] some time during the day without any [5:48] distractions and just let your mind [5:49] wander freely you'll start to get a few [5:51] ideas but we want a lot of ideas and we [5:53] want them now so what's the best way to [5:55] brainstorm well first of all you can't [5:57] force yourself to be creative you have [5:59] to let yourself be creative so don't sit [6:01] down and try to think about what you've [6:02] researched just let the thoughts come to [6:04] you and science shows being half asleep [6:06] is the sweet spot for creativity so [6:08] genuinely the best thing you can do is [6:10] as follows set an alarm for a little bit [6:12] earlier in the morning than usual then [6:14] when you wake up hit snooze and spend [6:16] like 2 minutes skimming through your [6:18] notes then go back to sleep and each [6:20] time the alarm goes off hit snooze again [6:22] all right the second strategy is to use [6:24] Concepts that other channels got a lot [6:25] of views doing but then change the [6:28] subject matter to what your audience is [6:29] interested in now a lot of people make a [6:31] big mistake with this strategy so I need [6:33] you to pay close attention so the idea [6:35] of it is that you look for inspiration [6:37] outside your Niche so that you can do [6:39] something that your audience hasn't seen [6:40] a 100 times before and then you'll find [6:42] videos that got way more views than the [6:45] average views of the channel That [6:47] uploaded it this will be called an [6:48] outlier video with an outlier score [6:51] based on its performance the mistake [6:52] people make is when they find an outlier [6:54] video they assume the concept is [6:56] guaranteed to work for Their audience [6:58] too it isn't take this example I make [7:01] videos for YouTubers looking for how to [7:03] improve their videos so I need a video [7:05] idea and I just found these four outlier [7:07] videos which concept should I use blank [7:11] explained blank [7:13] stereotypes 21 blank lessons for [7:16] blank or how to get so blank you [7:20] blank obviously one of these last two is [7:22] the right pick but why this stereotyped [7:26] concept is entertaining this explained [7:28] concept is interesting but my audience [7:31] only cares about content that helps them [7:33] improve their YouTube videos and only [7:35] these two concepts are actually helpful [7:37] but all right let's start the process [7:39] now I used to do this with vid iq's free [7:41] Chrome extension because you can go on [7:43] YouTube and see the outlier score next [7:45] to each video but that was a lot of [7:46] scrolling and there was that issue with [7:48] the incompatible Concepts so recently [7:50] I've been using videoo because you can [7:52] pretty much completely rule out that [7:54] incompatible concept problem and it's [7:56] also much faster so first find the [7:58] phrases that you're Target audience is [8:00] interested in do you remember how in [8:01] part one we found the types of things [8:02] your audience watches the most for me it [8:05] was quickly get results or it's about [8:07] how to improve your video editing using [8:08] chat GPT let's find some phrases that [8:11] match those desires this is the prompt [8:13] that I've been using and you can see the [8:14] results are exactly the concepts my [8:17] audience loves now on videoo search each [8:19] of these and then set the filters to [8:21] only show videos with high views and [8:23] outlier scores next take each good [8:25] concept you see and save it to a video [8:27] ideas folder but before you save it I [8:29] like to add a note with how you might [8:30] use the concept then also select the [8:32] specific parts of the concept that you [8:34] like now I also have been saving the [8:35] channels to a list because look at this [8:38] I can open up a list of videos from [8:40] specifically channels making education [8:42] content to help people reach their goals [8:44] although the goals and subjects are [8:46] different the concepts working for them [8:48] will work for me too here I can sort by [8:50] outlier score and then see the best [8:53] Concepts that my type of audience likes [8:55] so like you're my audience so you tell [8:57] me would you click on this how to [8:59] increase retention evidence-based [9:01] editing tips or get the perfect [9:03] thumbnail with this simple hack now I've [9:06] only shown you a couple of the ways that [9:08] video helps you get video ideas if you [9:10] want to see some more ways that can help [9:11] you out then I put a link in the [9:13] description it's $25 a month and if you [9:16] use my code then you get access to an [9:18] hourlong video I made just for my [9:20] viewers I'll break down how the [9:22] algorithm works and what you actually [9:23] need to do to get views on YouTube part [9:26] three or step three I don't know [9:27] checklist the last thing here is is the [9:29] most important but this first one is [9:31] actually the thing that ruls out most of [9:33] my ideas and it's easy too is to get a [9:35] fresh perspective on your video idea you [9:37] see the past year I've had this channel [9:39] I've written down every single idea I've [9:41] got now these ideas at the time of [9:43] writing them I thought I was a genius [9:45] but after a couple days how many of them [9:47] do you think I still felt so good about [9:49] half of them a third of them not less [9:52] than a quarter of them I still felt good [9:54] about now the next test is to make sure [9:56] that no one's beat you to it with this [9:58] idea because if your audience has [9:59] already seen the exact same thing before [10:01] they can't help but assume you have [10:03] nothing new to offer so copy or wouldbe [10:05] title into the YouTube search along with [10:07] a few variations and then check if the [10:08] video has been made or not if it has [10:10] then don't worry most videos have a [10:12] click three rate under 10% so there's [10:14] plenty of new people to watch a video on [10:16] that specific thing if you can just make [10:18] an improvement on the title or thumbnail [10:20] or put a Twist on the idea then you're [10:22] good the third and second to last test [10:24] is to make certain the idea is the best [10:26] option you have you see if you make a [10:27] video on just any good idea you get [10:30] you'll waste your time love him or hate [10:32] him Mr Beast was right when he said most [10:34] YouTubers watching this you could pull [10:35] triple the views with half the work if [10:36] you just have better ideas so instead of [10:38] planning to make five videos with a one [10:39] or 2x outlier score take the extra time [10:42] on your ideation phase to find those [10:44] ideas that give you at least a 5 to 10x [10:46] outli score raise the bar for what you [10:48] consider a good idea if you take only [10:51] the top 10% of your ideas from this [10:53] process you'll be sure to get your [10:55] breakthrough in no time I'll tell you [10:56] about the finnel test in just a second [10:58] but first I want to tell you a little [10:59] bit about my Discord server if you want [11:01] to get all of the internet's best free [11:04] YouTube education material in one place [11:06] then you can be like these wonderful [11:08] people uh thank you guys for being the [11:10] first 100 users into my Discord server [11:13] uh you you guys are my best fans the [11:14] rest of you Su and now beyond the free [11:16] stuff I'm also working on a curriculum [11:18] to teach like the actual skills of [11:20] YouTube it's still in the Prototype form [11:22] so I need a couple people to test it on [11:24] I made a form you can go through that [11:25] see if you're the right fit it's Leo [11:26] learn by leo.com Form but anyway it's [11:29] time for the next test which is to [11:31] subscribe to the [11:32] channel no I'm kidding it's actually the [11:35] last test is to First make the title and [11:37] thumbnail before you get to work on [11:38] anything else if you sat face to face [11:40] with your viewer telling them why to [11:42] watch what would you say review their [11:44] interests their goals and pain points [11:47] make sure that there's a solid [11:48] connection between your audience's [11:50] motivations to watch content and the [11:53] value that this video would provide your [11:55] title and thumbnail have the job of [11:56] making this connection clear that is [11:58] making it clear that your video offers [12:00] exactly what your audience was looking [12:02] for when they decided to open YouTube If [12:04] you can't find a way to make that [12:05] connection the idea won't work now [12:07] making that connection can be really [12:09] hard so check out this video here on [12:10] making a title and thumbnail
