## Transcript

a good challenge we've all been there at some point banging your head against the trying to get anything creative to fall out but there is something about being given a specific set of parameters and a time limit
me so creative so when art grid and artless reached out video and they challenged me to make a video using only stock footage and music i was like yes please but here's the
all part of a bigger plan that involves you two art grid and art list are where you can win some amazing prizes like a black magic pocket cinema 4k weeble s gimbal dji mavic mini and so much more by making a video using
footage and music from art grid and art list there are three categories to brand ad movie trailer or music video winners will be judged on editing skills creativity storytelling and likes by
you can sign up for a free trial to get your media and participate and then upload to youtube with the hashtag ag edit challenge in the title alright so the first thing that i want to do is start to kind of plan
and think of what i think my video can look like with a little bit of wiggle room for things that happen as we go of cool to do something that was
somewhere around 30 seconds maybe you know what we'll even say 15 to 30 seconds i want to keep it nice and short so that it could be something social media and then the other thing was that i was kind of feeling that
theme of being inspired by limitations so i feel like it would be cool to kind of use that as the theme talked about in other videos but one of the best ways for me to get my creative
is by setting limitations because i find if you just have too many options you start to limit that down you all of a sudden have this obvious path and at that point you're just problem solving in some cases that might
it might be what software you're going to use it might be the theme of the but in this specific case the biggest limitation is just the fact that i'm doing the whole thing with stock footage and stock music
piece that's going to allow us to kind of what the footage is actually talking about
time that by using only stock footage i can't just choose whatever i want to shoot for it so i think having a bit easier to be able to guide us okay 15 to 30 second video inspired by
limitations with the voice over let's do this thing that i think will give us a good idea of where we're going i'm gonna do the voiceover first which i don't always do but i think this time it
with the pacing of the whole thing to make sure that i have like that 15 to 30 second voice over um so we're gonna record that now all of us struggle at one point or another with finding creative
now we're gonna go get the rest of our media which happens to be a convenient more about the sponsor of this video art grid and art list art list has so much awesome music on
and when you're on their plan you get unlimited downloads that you can use for anything there are no limitations to just social media you can use it for and because it's unlimited i can download a bunch of songs to try under
without having to pay separately for each license okay i think i found the music that i wanted and i've got a couple of backups because unlimited now let's head over to art grid and find our video
art grid is a very similar idea to artless but with beautiful stock unlimited so i can download to my heart's content whatever i need one of my favorite things about art grid is their stories
feature where they have several clips all shot from the same shoot so that you can get a cohesive look feel and story out of a set of stock footage [Music]
that i think i'll work same thing as before i've gotten more than i think i so let's throw them into the editor and see what we can make up okay so the first thing i'm going to do in this case is actually combine the
music with the voice over and start to test those options that i have there see if i can get a nice flow for kind of when the the end of the the hang the voiceover is about 22 seconds
right now so we are sitting nicely within that 15 to 30 second window them around a little bit to kind of make it flow nicely
should sound pretty good okay time to try and throw some of this footage in here and see what we can do with it
people who are struggling with creativity and maybe trying to figure out a way that they can get through that but say limit your options and that's kind of the
the point when the beat drops in and that's going to be the uplifting point do was find something that in the frame had
that i have leading into that is this guy in a record store picking what i want to do is go back to art grid and see if i can find a shot with a single record in it or even something if i can't find that
fill that spot maybe leading up to it too so let's head back to our grid and see what we can get so i went back to the same story that i found the other vinyl record shop clips from but i
couldn't find anything where he actually took the records away massive shelf of records again i don't want to show a massive shelf of records limit your options so we're going to go try something else here
so when i search for record and vinyl as my keywords there are lots of options lots of really close-ups what i would love to get is like a record spinning on a record player all by itself and
like an empty room i don't know if i'm going to get that lucky though anything but i think it turned out grade everything just just a little bit to make them kind of
little bit of a smoother flow color wise but i did like that we kind of had different scenes coming from those stories over on and then i threw a little title at the end but other than that it's just nice
and simple and here's how it turned out but what if there was a way that you could subtly nudge that creativity along
what if there was a simple thing that sentence of that story or push through that lack of motivation it might not be what you expect limit your options
limit your options [Music] down below and let me know what you thought about the
inspiration by limitation concept i'd love to hear what you think and maybe like i said before art grid and art list are also extending this challenge to you i'll leave links for more information down in the description as well as links
and art list if you want to go sign up for a free trial and check it out make sure to hit the like button and subscribe hit that bell notification so and reviews thank you so much for watching and thank you to art grid and
artless for sponsoring this video and i'll see you next time
and i'll see you next time [Music]
