[0:00] Not all YouTube views are created equal. [0:02] A channel getting $100,000 views in one [0:04] niche might make $300, but a different [0:07] channel getting a 100,000 views in a [0:10] different niche could be making $3,000. [0:13] The difference is RPM, which is how much [0:16] you actually keep and how much you [0:17] actually make per,000 views after [0:20] YouTube takes their 45% cut. And that's [0:22] basically why choosing a really good [0:24] niche matters. Now, I personally run a [0:26] bunch of different YouTube channels [0:28] across a bunch of different niches. And [0:30] in this video, I want to go over 10 [0:31] different niches and go over exactly how [0:34] much they're making per,000 views. And [0:37] this is based on real data based off of [0:38] my own personal experience talking with [0:40] tons of people throughout my communities [0:42] who actually run channels in these [0:44] niches. Now, real quick before we get [0:46] into the niches, what you need to [0:47] understand about YouTube is that YouTube [0:49] doesn't just have a clearcut, this niche [0:51] makes this much per,000 views and this [0:53] niche makes this much. It's not like [0:55] that. It's based off of a bidding system [0:57] of advertisers who bid on certain [0:59] keywords and who put ads on specific [1:01] videos in specific channels. We cannot [1:04] control if an advertiser is going to put [1:06] an ad on our videos or our channels. But [1:08] what I've personally noticed is that [1:10] over time once you grow a really big [1:12] channel, you'll see your ad rates go up. [1:13] So your RPM can fluctuate a lot as your [1:16] channel grows because advertisers will [1:18] want to put ads on your channel [1:19] specifically. But again, we can't [1:21] control that. But the thing we can [1:22] control is choosing a subject where [1:24] advertisers want to put ads on those [1:27] keywords. So if you look into who the [1:29] top advertisers on YouTube are, it's [1:31] companies like Apple. Now what keywords [1:33] is Apple going to be putting their ads [1:35] on? It's going to be techreated videos. [1:37] Another one of the top advertisers is [1:39] Expedia. They're going to be putting [1:40] their ads on travel related videos. So [1:43] both of those niches are going to be [1:44] higher than average when it comes to [1:46] their RPM. And in this video, I'll break [1:48] down what their RPMs are, as well as how [1:50] much money a lot of the top niches on [1:53] YouTube are making per thousand views, [1:55] so that you can make an informed [1:56] decision as to, hey, should I get into [1:58] this niche or should I not? And I'll [2:00] also talk about some of the nuances with [2:02] this as well if you can make money in [2:03] other ways also. Because even though [2:05] something might not have the perfect CPM [2:07] or RPM, you might be able to sell [2:09] something in that niche, but that's [2:11] usually not the case. Because if you [2:13] think about it, if an advertiser is [2:15] going to pay a lot of money to put an ad [2:17] on your channel, it would stand to [2:19] reason that you could also sell [2:21] something from that channel because [2:22] they're putting the ad on that video [2:24] because they're presumably planning on [2:25] making that money back. So, why don't [2:27] you sell something from your channel as [2:28] well? And that's how you can bump up [2:30] your RPMs to be making over $100 per [2:33] thousand views. And that's what I [2:34] personally do on a lot of my different [2:36] channels. So, I just want to say make [2:37] sure to sell something from your [2:38] channel, whether it's an affiliate [2:39] product or something else. You can go on [2:41] something like Google Gemini and ask it [2:43] find me affiliate products for my [2:45] channel in this niche and then you can [2:46] do that and that way you can actually be [2:49] selling something from your channel. And [2:50] I'm actually creating a platform called [2:52] Moon where people can make their own [2:53] digital products and sell them from [2:55] their channels where they can make their [2:56] own moon which is basically their own [2:58] corner of the internet that they own [3:00] where they can sell digital products and [3:01] AI versions of themsel and everything [3:03] else. And that's how you can make over [3:05] $100 per thousand views. So, now let's [3:07] get into the niches. Starting with niche [3:08] number one, which is personal finance [3:10] and investing. Now, what I personally [3:13] have seen from running channels in this [3:14] niche and talking with a lot of people [3:16] with channels within this niche is that [3:18] this niche can make anywhere from $12 to [3:21] $25 per,000 views. And this is because a [3:24] lot of investment platforms advertise on [3:27] YouTube as well as trading courses, [3:29] financial services, as well as Bitcoin [3:32] ads and everything else. They're going [3:33] to be putting their ads on financial [3:35] related videos. Even myself, I sell a [3:37] program on how to grow on YouTube and [3:39] make YouTube into a business. I'm going [3:41] to be putting my ads on keywords related [3:43] to financial subjects, anything related [3:45] to money and making money and growing a [3:47] business. So, I'm contributing to that [3:49] RPM. Now, channels like Chris Invest are [3:51] a great example of a completely faceless [3:53] channel within this niche that's doing [3:54] incredibly well. He makes super simple [3:56] whiteboard videos. You could literally [3:57] just use something like Videocribe to do [3:59] that. And also the audience within this [4:01] niche skews older and older people tend [4:03] to have disposable income which is what [4:06] advertisers want. And so I've actually [4:08] thought it might be a really good idea [4:09] to run a channel targeted towards older [4:12] people in finances. That could be huge [4:14] and feel free to steal that idea. Plus [4:16] you can sell things yourself within this [4:17] niche. You're not just limited to the [4:19] RPM. Obviously you should be selling [4:21] something if you're within this niche. I [4:23] would actually highly recommend that you [4:25] either are an affiliate for different [4:27] investment platforms if you're doing [4:28] like an investment channel for example. [4:30] And something I want to note as well is [4:31] that the RPMs can start lower within [4:34] these niches and then get bigger over [4:35] time because as we mentioned advertisers [4:37] will put ads on your videos. That's why [4:39] the range is so big. Don't expect to be [4:41] making $25 per thousand views right off [4:44] the jump when you get monetized, but it [4:45] can advance to that amount. Now, niche [4:47] number two is technology and AI [4:50] tutorials. AI content is absolutely [4:52] crushing it right now. New tools are [4:54] launching all the time. There's always [4:56] some news happening related to AI and [4:58] there's millions of people out there [5:00] searching on YouTube trying to figure [5:01] out how to use them. And so the RPM for [5:04] this niche is anywhere from $5 to $15 [5:07] per,000 views. Now, if you talk about AI [5:09] in the context of, for example, making [5:11] money, that is going to be a higher RPM. [5:13] Just make sure not to promise any [5:15] specific dollar amounts or anything [5:16] about how much people could potentially [5:18] make because YouTube has been cracking [5:20] down on channels that post videos like [5:22] easy way to make $500 a day. And I've [5:24] had some problems with my own channel [5:25] where I had to delete a bunch of videos [5:26] and everything. So don't fall into that [5:28] trap. But you can give tutorials. You [5:29] can talk about the latest AI news. And [5:31] the real money when it comes to this [5:33] niche, if you're going to do it though, [5:35] would be affiliate commissions because [5:37] you could literally be an affiliate for [5:39] every single AI tool that you talk [5:40] about. And a lot of them can pay 30 to [5:42] 50% recurring commissions for life. For [5:46] example, I have an AI tool called Tube [5:47] Magic that writes god tier YouTube [5:49] scripts and we give a 50% recurring [5:52] commission for life for people who do [5:54] that. And multiple people make full-time [5:56] incomes literally just off of promoting [5:58] that tool. I've got another tool called [5:59] Vid.ai and we give 30% commissions for [6:02] life. And the cool thing about this [6:03] niche is that the videos are pretty easy [6:05] to make. You can just do super simple [6:06] screen recordings, no fancy editing [6:08] required, and these videos can do super [6:11] well. Now, the third niche we're going [6:12] to be talking about is business [6:14] documentaries. And this is going to [6:16] hover around $5 per thousand views. But [6:18] you might be thinking, "Okay, Matt, but [6:20] it's in the business niche. Wouldn't [6:21] businesses want to be putting ads on [6:23] these types of videos?" And while that [6:24] is true, the audience that this attracts [6:26] are mostly people who are into [6:28] entertainment style videos and not [6:30] necessarily looking to solve a problem [6:32] within their own life. Now, if you're [6:34] doing more so of a business story [6:35] channel that is about how the businesses [6:38] have succeeded and the things that you [6:40] can take away from the business and [6:41] giving actual business advice to people, [6:44] then you can make a lot more. Then it [6:46] could be 10, 15, $20 per thousand views [6:49] depending on the keywords that you use. [6:50] However, for the majority of people, if [6:52] you're just talking about it in an [6:54] entertainment aspect, like most of the [6:56] big channels like Magnets Media, for [6:57] example, do then it's going to be a lot [7:00] less. Now, niche number four is health [7:02] and fitness. And channels like Natural [7:04] Cures, Body Hub, and Yellow Dude are [7:07] great examples of channels within this [7:08] niche that are doing incredibly well. [7:10] And channels within this niche, from [7:12] what I've seen, can make around $8 to [7:14] $12 per thousand views. And that's [7:16] really good. And I don't know if you're [7:18] seeing the pattern here, but essentially [7:20] niches where people have problems that [7:22] they want to desperately solve. Whether [7:23] it's related to health, wealth, [7:26] happiness, finances, all of these [7:28] subjects are things that people [7:29] typically have problems in that they [7:31] want to solve. and advertisers are going [7:33] to target those people driving the RPMs [7:35] in this niche up. Now, niche number five [7:38] is travel. And this niche can make [7:40] anywhere from $8 to $15 per thousand [7:42] views. And we talked about travel [7:44] because huge companies like Expedia are [7:46] some of the top advertisers on YouTube. [7:48] And of course, this is going to vary a [7:49] lot depending on your audience geography [7:51] because if you do US focused travel [7:53] content, that's when you can hit $15 [7:55] RPMs. But if you get mostly [7:57] international audiences, that can bring [7:59] it down closer to $5. The cool thing [8:02] about this niche as well is that a lot [8:03] of the content is evergreen because if [8:05] you do a top 10 places to visit in Japan [8:07] type of video, that's something that can [8:09] get views for years and years in the [8:11] future. And there's also channels like [8:12] Jetet Genius, for example, that produce [8:14] videos related to tips and tricks for [8:17] air travel that do incredibly good. So [8:18] you can do tutorial-based videos about [8:20] how to travel on planes. There's also [8:22] channels like Cruise Like a Pro that do [8:24] cruise related videos and all the tips [8:26] and tricks for having the best cruise of [8:27] your life. And there's probably not much [8:29] competition in that niche. I personally [8:30] haven't ran a channel in this cruise [8:32] niche specifically, but if I were to [8:34] guess, I would think that those would be [8:36] very high RPMs because I have seen a lot [8:38] of cruise ads on YouTube. I don't think [8:40] there's much competition, especially [8:41] when it comes to educational [8:42] cruise-based videos. Niche number six is [8:45] relationships and dating. And health, [8:47] wealth, and relationships are some of [8:48] the biggest pillars in all of our lives. [8:50] And relationships doesn't just have to [8:52] be limited to dating either. It can also [8:54] be related to business relationships you [8:56] have. It can be related to interpersonal [8:58] family relationships, friendships, and [9:00] knowing the psychology of how to [9:01] influence people. And channels like Bry [9:03] Hart, for example, use super simple [9:05] stick figure animations made entirely in [9:07] Canva and pull millions of views. You [9:09] could also easily sell a community on [9:11] the side for this or you could sell [9:12] books and other things. And my upcoming [9:14] platform, Moon, will be absolutely [9:16] perfect for this. Now, niche number [9:17] seven is pets. Now, this is kind of a [9:19] relationship type of channel as well, [9:21] due to the fact that pets are a huge [9:23] part of a lot of people's lives. I [9:25] personally grew up with a lot of dogs [9:26] and cats as well. And when I was [9:27] teaching my dog tricks and I was raising [9:29] them for the first time, I would always [9:30] learn a ton by watching YouTube videos [9:32] and a lot of other people do this as [9:33] well. So, the pet niche can actually be [9:36] incredibly huge because you can give [9:37] amazing advice to other pet owners and [9:40] plus you're giving pets a better quality [9:41] of life in doing so. And there's [9:43] channels like Doggy Digs that do exactly [9:45] this. They do fun fact videos as well as [9:47] tutorial videos. And in the cat niche, [9:49] you have channels like the Purring [9:50] Journal, which do the exact same thing, [9:52] but just for cats. And the RPM for this [9:54] niche would be around $7 to $10 per [9:56] thousand views. There are a lot of pet [9:59] companies that advertise on these types [10:01] of videos. Niche number eight is scary [10:03] stories. Now, scary stories is an [10:05] example of a niche that can get millions [10:07] upon millions of views, but it is an [10:09] entertainment niche. You're not going to [10:10] be selling something in this niche. And [10:12] I know a lot of people who run scary [10:13] story channels who've tried to do things [10:15] like selling t-shirts and everything. it [10:17] just does not work that well. The main [10:19] money you're going to be making in this [10:20] niche is going to be ad revenue. And [10:22] while the RPM and the ad revenue is on [10:24] the lower end for this one, it can be [10:26] somewhat offset based on how many views [10:29] that you can get within this niche. And [10:30] the RPM that I've seen within this niche [10:32] is $3 to $4 per,000 views. So again, a [10:36] lot lower. I personally wouldn't [10:37] recommend doing a channel in this niche [10:39] unless it's something that you're just [10:41] super passionate about and it's [10:42] something that you love, then by all [10:44] means feel free to do it. But just do it [10:45] with the understanding that you're not [10:47] going to be making as much per thousand [10:49] views as a lot of the other niches that [10:51] are out there. Now, one way you could [10:53] increase the RPM within this niche [10:55] significantly would be to create super [10:58] long scary story videos. You could push [11:01] it to 5, 10, even more dollars per [11:03] thousand views. If you're creating [11:05] multiple hour-long scary story videos [11:07] and putting a lot of ads throughout [11:09] those videos, that's one instance where [11:11] you can make a lot more from this. And [11:13] that's just one tip that you can use. [11:14] Niche number nine is movies. And I'm not [11:16] talking about re-uploading movies. You [11:18] should not do that. That's how you get [11:19] banned off of YouTube. In fact, it was [11:21] in the news recently that a lot of AI [11:23] channels that were producing AI [11:24] generated movie trailers of copyrighted [11:26] characters recently got taken down off [11:28] of YouTube. So, don't do that. What I'm [11:30] talking about is doing top 10 lists when [11:31] it comes to movies, similar to channels [11:33] like Looper or Watch Mojo or even [11:35] talking about the different celebrities [11:37] from different movies. And the movie [11:38] niche is pretty good. You can make [11:40] around $11 per thousand views for the [11:42] RPM from it. Again, this is a broad [11:44] generalization. It's going to differ a [11:45] lot depending on a lot of different [11:46] factors. However, that's about how much [11:48] you can make. You can't really sell [11:50] something from this niche. So, again, [11:52] you're really just limited by the ad [11:53] revenue. It's not the best niche in my [11:55] personal opinion, but I just wanted to [11:57] let you know how much you can make. And [11:58] niche number 10 is meditation videos. [12:01] This is a niche that trips a lot of [12:02] people up because I see so many people [12:04] doing it the wrong way where they just [12:06] find some meditation audio online and [12:07] then they just re-upload it as their own [12:09] video. That's not the way to do this. [12:11] there's way too much competition and [12:13] that is not going to differentiate you [12:14] from all the other channels out there [12:16] and it's not going to allow you to [12:17] create new original content. If you're [12:19] going to do this niche, I would highly [12:21] recommend having a verbal voice over [12:23] whether it's your own voice or an AI [12:25] voice giving a guided meditation. Now, [12:27] if you're doing this and you're making [12:28] 10, 20, 30 minute videos, the RPM for [12:30] this is going to be around $5 to $10 per [12:33] thousand views. However, this is an [12:35] example of a niche where you might want [12:36] to make super super long videos just [12:38] like scary stories that'll push the RPM [12:41] past 10, 15, even more dollars per [12:43] thousand views like I've seen a lot of [12:45] channels doing, especially channels [12:47] making sleepreated content because TV [12:49] viewing is exploding right now and [12:51] longer content can do incredibly well. [12:53] And no matter which niche that you [12:55] choose, I highly recommend focusing on [12:56] long content where you can put a lot of [12:58] ads throughout your video which will [13:00] drive your RPMs up. It'll keep people on [13:02] YouTube, keep people on your channel, [13:04] and stay in a niche ideally where you [13:06] can sell something as well. In the [13:07] meditation niche, for example, you could [13:09] sell audio of meditations, and Moon will [13:11] allow you to sell files like that. And [13:12] now, to give you as much value as I can [13:14] possibly give you, here are all of the [13:16] different niches that I know as well as [13:18] how much money that they make per [13:20] thousand views. I'm just going to scroll [13:22] through this list. Feel free to pause it [13:23] at any point to try to find your niche [13:25] of whatever niche you happen to be in. [13:27] And feel free to screenshot it. So that [13:29] way you know exactly how much you can [13:31] expect to make per,000 views. So I hope [13:33] this was super helpful. Now one thing I [13:35] really want to say if you get anything [13:37] from this video, make sure to be in a [13:39] niche where you can sell something. And [13:40] if you are, make sure that you actually [13:42] do sell something from your channel [13:44] using something like Moon. Make sure to [13:46] sell something from your channel so you [13:47] can make as much money as possible and [13:49] make YouTube into a real business. I [13:50] really just want to see you succeed on [13:52] YouTube and that's how you do it. And if [13:53] you want my personal help with doing all [13:55] of this, you can check out Tube [13:56] Accelerator, my program, down at the [13:57] link in the description where you can [13:58] book a call with my team and we can see [14:00] if that's the right fit for you.
