[0:00] What's up everybody? Damon here and for [0:01] today's daily fix, we have the Steam [0:03] Machine's [music] price finally revealed [0:05] and just how long God of War La has been [0:07] planned. [music] This is your daily fix. [0:18] [snorts] [0:19] Presented by Universal Orlando Resort [0:21] and its newest theme [music] park, [0:22] Universal Epic Universe. [0:26] After months of speculation, the Steam [0:28] Machine is finally here. starting at [0:30] $1,049 for the 512 gig version. If that [0:33] price is still within your budget, you [0:34] can reserve it now on Steam. That [0:37] starting price gets you just the 512 gig [0:39] version of the mini gaming PC without [0:41] the Steam controller. If you want to add [0:42] the controller, there is a bundle for [0:44] $1,28, which means you're getting [0:46] Valve's controller for $79 rather than [0:48] the 99 bucks it'll cost you by itself. [0:50] Valve is also selling a two terbte model [0:52] which will set you back 1,349 for just [0:55] the machine or 1428 bundled with the [0:58] Steam controller. That's a steep price [1:00] to be sure, but Valve is packing two [1:02] additional face plates with every two TB [1:04] console. So, you at least get some added [1:05] customization options. Way back when [1:07] Valve first revealed the Steam machine, [1:08] we guessed it would cost somewhere [1:09] around $7 to $800. We were probably [1:12] right at the time, but the costs for PC [1:14] components, particularly RAM, have [1:16] skyrocketed over the last 6 months. That [1:19] 149 is going to be a hard pill to [1:20] swallow for anyone weighing it against [1:22] the PS5 or Xbox Series X, both of which [1:24] are more affordable, at least for now. [1:26] But while the Steam Machine is quite a [1:27] bit more expensive than any of the [1:28] gaming consoles, it is still a gaming [1:30] PC. And in that world, the Steam [1:32] Machine's price tag isn't quite as [1:34] painful, especially when you consider [1:35] how tiny it is. Many gaming PCs with [1:37] this kind of horsepower can cost [1:39] hundreds more than the Steam Machine [1:40] currently does. Moving on, God of War: [1:43] La Fay, featuring Kratos's wife Fay as [1:45] his protagonist, may have come as a [1:46] surprise to some, but not to its star, [1:48] Deborah Anwal, who first heard about the [1:50] project almost a decade ago. She [1:52] revealed in an interview with CGM, I've [1:54] known about this for nearly 10 years, [1:56] and I haven't been able to talk about [1:57] it. The Daredevil actor went on to say [1:59] that the director of God of War's 2018 [2:00] reboot, Cory Barlo, not only told her [2:02] about this plan way back around the time [2:04] of that game's release, but also knew [2:06] that it would feature one of her [2:07] sidekicks in the reveal trailer, Jack [2:09] Quig's Talking Cube. Wall said he [2:11] pitched it to me in 2018 and they had [2:12] known about it before then. It's wild. [2:14] Like when Corey brought me in to talk [2:15] about doing Ragnarok and show me the [2:17] 2018 game, he already had a poster for [2:19] the La game with me in a cube. A cube [2:21] that's been there since the beginning. [2:23] It's deeply a part of the lore. We still [2:24] don't know when we'll be playing God of [2:26] War Lay, but fear not Kratos fans, there [2:28] will be more games featuring everyone's [2:30] favorite angry Greek god with [2:31] PlayStation saying there are many more [2:33] stories to tell. And that is your daily [2:35] fix for Monday, June 22nd. [music] Now [2:37] that you're caught up on the news, watch [2:38] our Steam Machine review.
