> Source: [Steam Machine Price Revealed - IGN Daily Fix YT](https://youtube.com/watch?v=qdpnWJx1y-8)

## Summary

This video covers two major gaming news stories: the final price reveal for Valve's Steam Machine and the surprising revelation that God of War: La Faye has been in development for nearly a decade. It provides details on pricing and bundles for the Steam Machine and discusses the behind-the-scenes planning of the new God of War title.

### Key Points

- **Steam Machine Pricing Revealed** [0:00] — Valve announced the Steam Machine starting at $1,049 for a 512 GB version, with a bundle including the Steam controller for $1,128. A 2 TB model is also available at $1,349 or $1,428 with the controller.
- **Steam Machine Pre-orders Open** [0:28] — Pre-orders are available on Steam. The machine is a mini gaming PC, and despite its high price compared to consoles, it offers competitive pricing relative to other small form factor gaming PCs.
- **Steam Machine Pricing Context and Bundles** [1:06] — The 2 TB model includes two additional face plates for customization. The pricing reflects recent increases in PC component costs, especially RAM, which has driven up costs beyond initial speculation of $700-$800.
- **God of War: La Faye Development History** [1:42] — Deborah Ann Woll revealed in an interview that she learned about God of War: La Faye nearly a decade ago. Director Cory Barlog pitched the idea to her in 2018, and it has been planned since before then, with a poster featuring her character in a cube dating back to the 2018 game.
- **Future of God of War Franchise** [2:25] — PlayStation has confirmed there will be more God of War stories featuring Kratos, alongside the upcoming La Faye game, though no release date has been announced.

### Conclusion

The Steam Machine is now available for pre-order at a premium price, while God of War fans can look forward to a long-planned spin-off and continued adventures with Kratos.

What's up everybody? Damon here and for
today's daily fix, we have the Steam
Machine's [music] price finally revealed
and just how long God of War La has been
planned. [music] This is your daily fix.

Universal Epic Universe.
After months of speculation, the Steam
Machine is finally here. starting at
$1,049 for the 512 gig version. If that
price is still within your budget, you
can reserve it now on Steam. That
starting price gets you just the 512 gig
version of the mini gaming PC without
the Steam controller. If you want to add
the controller, there is a bundle for
$1,28, which means you're getting
Valve's controller for $79 rather than
the 99 bucks it'll cost you by itself.
Valve is also selling a two terbte model
which will set you back 1,349 for just
the machine or 1428 bundled with the
Steam controller. That's a steep price
to be sure, but Valve is packing two
additional face plates with every two TB
console. So, you at least get some added
customization options. Way back when
Valve first revealed the Steam machine,
we guessed it would cost somewhere
around $7 to $800. We were probably
right at the time, but the costs for PC
components, particularly RAM, have
skyrocketed over the last 6 months. That
149 is going to be a hard pill to
swallow for anyone weighing it against
the PS5 or Xbox Series X, both of which
are more affordable, at least for now.
But while the Steam Machine is quite a
bit more expensive than any of the
gaming consoles, it is still a gaming
PC. And in that world, the Steam
Machine's price tag isn't quite as
painful, especially when you consider
how tiny it is. Many gaming PCs with
this kind of horsepower can cost
hundreds more than the Steam Machine
currently does. Moving on, God of War:
La Fay, featuring Kratos's wife Fay as
his protagonist, may have come as a
surprise to some, but not to its star,
Deborah Anwal, who first heard about the
project almost a decade ago. She
revealed in an interview with CGM, I've
known about this for nearly 10 years,
and I haven't been able to talk about
it. The Daredevil actor went on to say
that the director of God of War's 2018
reboot, Cory Barlo, not only told her
about this plan way back around the time
of that game's release, but also knew
that it would feature one of her
sidekicks in the reveal trailer, Jack
Quig's Talking Cube. Wall said he
pitched it to me in 2018 and they had
known about it before then. It's wild.
Like when Corey brought me in to talk
about doing Ragnarok and show me the
2018 game, he already had a poster for
the La game with me in a cube. A cube
that's been there since the beginning.
It's deeply a part of the lore. We still
don't know when we'll be playing God of
War Lay, but fear not Kratos fans, there
will be more games featuring everyone's
favorite angry Greek god with
PlayStation saying there are many more
stories to tell. And that is your daily
fix for Monday, June 22nd. [music] Now
