[0:00] Hello and welcome to this YouTube video [0:03] ideiation course. Today I'm going to be [0:05] teaching you how to stop wasting your [0:09] hours watching at a blank screen and [0:12] come up with video ideas that gain [0:14] clicks and they grow your channel. For [0:17] those of you who might be asking, I'm [0:18] Alan. I've been on YouTube for quite a [0:20] while now and I'm hosting a YouTube [0:23] operator academy which is a school [0:25] community for growing on YouTube. There [0:28] are lots of courses where we completely [0:30] remove the overwhelm. It's a stepbystep [0:32] process helping you get good on YouTube. [0:36] The video ideation is the part of the [0:38] course that's available here and it [0:40] contains of multiple modules which we [0:43] are going to be going through within the [0:44] next couple of videos. So today we're [0:47] going to be talking about how to find [0:48] viral video ideas in 10 minutes. So, you [0:51] should be stop wasting your hours [0:53] standing at the blank screen scratching [0:55] your head and trying to figure out what [0:58] should I post next. It's dependent on [1:00] your own niche, obviously. But today, [1:03] we're going to be talking about the [1:04] proven outlier method that top YouTubers [1:07] use to never run out of content ideas. [1:10] And if you thought top YouTube content [1:12] creators are coming with those ideas [1:14] from scratch, you would be dead wrong. [1:16] Actually, most of the small YouTube [1:19] creators like you, me, and others are [1:22] wasting countless hours trying to figure [1:24] out with new concepts, new ideas instead [1:27] of just looking what already works on [1:31] the platform. It's literally that [1:33] simple. However, YouTube is a very, very [1:37] difficult platform because there's so [1:39] much content. And today, we're going to [1:41] be showing you how the top YouTubers [1:44] never create from scratch. They [1:45] strategically find what's already [1:47] proven, what's already working, and they [1:49] just adapt it to their unique style. So, [1:51] there is a better way to discover viral [1:54] worthy content in just 10 minutes. So, [1:57] let's get right in. So, first and [1:58] foremost, what are the outliers? The [2:01] outliers are the videos that receive 3 [2:03] to 10x more views than the average [2:06] videos on the channel. So, they [2:09] outperform the channel's average by 3 to [2:11] 10 times. The question is, why do they [2:14] matter? Obviously the creator has tapped [2:16] into something which resonates with its [2:19] target audience which resonates with its [2:21] viewers. That means more people are [2:24] clicking, more people are watching and [2:27] based on that it's possible to evaluate [2:30] what's the idea behind it. So basically [2:32] those are the proof that the idea works [2:34] and the advantage is that outliers [2:37] actually reveal exactly what the [2:39] audience wants to watch. So you don't [2:41] need to be guessing what should you be [2:43] watching next or how should you be [2:45] structuring that video. Just looks what [2:47] works and copy adapt with pride. So [2:50] let's talk a little bit about the [2:51] outlier score formula. And the outlier [2:54] score formula is actually quite simple. [2:57] It helps you calculate how much better [3:00] is a certain video performing compared [3:02] to the channel average. So basically [3:05] what you're looking is at the views. So, [3:07] the outlier score says, what are the [3:10] current video views versus the channel's [3:13] average views, and you want to be [3:15] looking for a minimum score of 5x for a [3:18] high confidence ideas that are proven to [3:20] resonate with your audience. 10x if you [3:23] can actually nail something that's [3:25] really good. So, where to find those [3:27] outliers? Well, obviously, you want to [3:29] match your format. You want to be [3:31] searching something with the same [3:34] content type and form. If you're looking [3:36] for short form, then it's YouTube uh [3:38] reals, Tik Tok, Instagram stories, and [3:41] these kind of things like YouTube [3:43] shorts. However, if you're going long [3:45] form, just open up the long form and try [3:47] to look for something that's within your [3:50] niche. But do pay attention to the [3:53] outlier score. And you might also also [3:55] want to do a cross-platform hunting. So, [3:58] for example, if you're doing YouTube [4:00] shorts, you might want to be checking [4:01] Tik Tok or an Instagram res. Ideas that [4:04] work on other platforms sometimes do [4:06] translate brilliantly to another without [4:08] proper adaptations. But remember, you [4:10] have to stay within your niche. Focus on [4:13] channels covering similar topics to [4:16] yours. Relevance is critical. What works [4:19] in gaming won't necessarily work in [4:21] cooking. It might, but it's there's no [4:24] guarantees. Also, it's really important [4:27] whom to look those uh outliers at where [4:31] you would should be looking. A lot of [4:33] people do the mistakes where they [4:35] actually look for the big content [4:37] creators and there's an error in this [4:40] way. If you think about it, the big [4:42] content creator is already wellknown and [4:45] there's a lot of people watching it for [4:47] the creator because they already know, [4:49] they already like the creator. Whereas [4:51] if you look at the small channels for [4:54] example within your niche, you want to [4:56] be looking at the small channels and [4:57] then you want to be looking at the [4:59] outliers because there is no familiarity [5:02] bias. So viewers click because the idea [5:04] was compelling or title and thumbnail [5:06] spark the intrigue. So it's basically an [5:09] evaluation of pure idea and packaging [5:11] strength completely removing the [5:14] familiarity bias and a risk of people [5:16] actually clicking because they're just [5:18] interested in that content creator. [5:20] Also, it's possible to get higher rep [5:23] replicability. If it worked for them [5:24] without fame, it might also work for [5:26] you. So, let's go through the 10 minute [5:28] research process. First, you search [5:31] through keywords. And you can actually [5:32] do it by typing in into YouTube whatever [5:34] is that you're looking for. Then you can [5:36] actually go filter views and see which [5:39] videos perform the best, calculate the [5:42] outliers, verify the channel, and save [5:44] the top 10. Now, there is a lot of tools [5:46] that you can actually use to do that. [5:48] I'm going to just show you a couple of [5:50] them. One of them is for example one out [5:53] of 10. You can actually use it to search [5:55] for various outliers and actually it [5:59] also helps you with the thumbnails and [6:01] titles generation but it helps you also [6:04] identify the uh outliers. Then there is [6:07] the Vid IQ which is a little bit more [6:09] pricier model but it also has the [6:11] outlier tool and the outlier help you [6:14] search and find various videos within [6:17] your trusted niche. I have been using [6:19] Vid IQ for quite a while and it's [6:22] actually pretty good because it [6:23] immediately shows you the outlier score [6:26] and you can provide filters in terms of [6:28] recency and other content. So here are [6:31] just some of examples that are relevant [6:33] to my main Groundworks channel. So this [6:35] streamline process eliminates the hours [6:37] of aimless scrolling. In 10 minutes you [6:38] can have a curated high list of video [6:41] ideas proven by data. So your research [6:44] toolkit you have the YouTube search [6:46] where you can actually manually look at. [6:48] You can do manual analysis or use the [6:50] tools that I have just shown you. And uh [6:54] then we have the video idea library [6:56] which you want to be storing those ideas [7:00] somewhere. I'm using notion but if [7:02] you're using some other tool that's also [7:04] fine but you have to use the toolkit. So [7:07] the key takeaway I want you to have is [7:09] never run out of ideas again. Outliers [7:12] are the proof. They demonstrate idea can [7:14] work for you. No guesswork required. [7:16] Small channels is where you should be [7:18] looking for those outliers because they [7:21] are in the same situation as you. So if [7:23] idea works for them there's a chance it [7:25] might be working for you. Remember that [7:27] you should be focusing within the same [7:29] niche. Then my guess is don't invent. [7:33] Adapt what's already working instead of [7:35] creating your own ideas from scratch and [7:38] use the 10 minute system. Find these [7:40] proven ideas using the outlier method. [7:43] And video ideas are really important for [7:46] your YouTube journey. And that's why [7:48] they're really prominent in my YouTube [7:50] operator tool, a complete system for [7:52] running your channel. You can actually [7:54] jolt down ideas in seconds and then [7:57] review them and approve them in which [7:59] case they're going to be ready for [8:00] progression onwards. And to help you out [8:04] further with evaluating your video [8:06] ideas, I have pre prepared an episode [8:09] idea evaluation checklist [music] where [8:11] you can actually jol down your idea and [8:14] check it against the proven methods. [8:17] What is working already on YouTube? And [8:19] we even have the AI section which helps [8:22] you evaluate and add suggestions. So [8:25] this is a part of the YouTube operator. [8:27] Link will be provided in the description [8:29] below. But as a permanent present for [8:32] me, I have actually exported this [8:34] YouTube video idea evaluation checklist. [8:36] You can use it completely for free. Link [8:38] will be provided below and you can [8:40] download it completely for free from the [8:42] Gumroad store. This is my gift to you to [8:45] help you jol down your and work on your [8:47] ideas. So, we have covered the outlier [8:50] method. We've recaped that you should [8:52] not be inventing your ideas yourself. [8:54] You should be finding them on the [8:56] outliers and try to use proven methods [9:00] that that have already generated clicks [9:02] for other small content creators to help [9:04] you jumpstart your channel. Now, in the [9:06] next video, I will be going through the [9:08] idea breakdown system, how to steal [9:11] video ideas like Mr. beast which is the [9:14] seven Lego brick method and it will be [9:17] available here or through the school [9:20] YouTube community. So, thank you very [9:22] much for watching and I'll see you in [9:23] the next
