[00:00] If YouTube isn't recommending your videos, it's obviously because something isn't working. And right now, it's holding your channel back. But the good news is, there's an easy fix. So in this video, I'll show you exactly what's stopping YouTube from pushing your content, [00:14] and how you're going to fix it. Now, the first reason why YouTube isn't pushing your videos could be because you haven't fully optimized your account yet. Now, a lot of people either forget to do this, or simply just don't know this option exists. [00:27] And it's extremely common amongst new channels. So when you set up a new account, YouTube basically has no idea who you are or what you're about. So naturally, it's going to struggle to understand who to show your videos to. [00:39] But this is where channel tags come in. Now, I'm going to guess that most of your channels will look like this, which might be the reason many of you are not getting any views. Whereas your channel should actually look like this. [00:51] So to find your channel tags, go to Studio, click on Settings, and then click on Channel. Now, it's essential you fill these out and be as thorough as possible. because these tags essentially allow you to tell YouTube what your channel is about [01:05] and who the algorithm should show your content to. Now, you have up to 500 characters worth of info to give about you and your niche. You can either fill these out yourself using tags that directly relate to you, your channel, and your niche, or if you're struggling with what to fill out, [01:20] use a tag generator like RapidTags. Just put your niche in here, and then it will spit out some tags related to that niche. You can then put these in here and the algorithm will now know exactly who to push your videos in front of, which is a really easy fix. [01:33] And so that brings us on to another method needed to optimize your profile, which is your channel description. Now, this area here provides a fantastic area for SEO optimization. Just like your channel tags, it is 100% recommended that if your videos still aren't getting many views, you need to make sure you fill this out correctly. [01:51] Now again, it basically just tells YouTube who you are, what your channel is about, and it will ultimately help the algorithm in showing your content to the right audience. Now to access this, head to YouTube Studio, click on Customization, and scroll down here to Description. [02:06] Now the best way to do this is literally just by describing what your channel is about, describing the niche you want to go into, and then adding some keywords in there too. Along with channel tags, having your description optimized as well will really help YouTube position your account within the right niche. [02:21] and it will aid it when it pushes your videos out from now on Now the next three things I recommend you do to help YouTube recommend your content is actually to do with your upload process Now firstly again this is similar to the channel tags but in this [02:36] case it's specific to each video you post. So when you upload a new video you're going to have to go through the entire process of adding titles, thumbnails, descriptions, tags, hashtags and all of that. And every video you post [02:49] should have its own unique optimization that is tailored to each video. However, to save time and to make sure each video optimization directly matches and aligns with your channel, I would suggest you need to complete your upload [03:03] defaults like this too. So again, to access this, click on settings and then click on upload defaults. Now I always leave title free because obviously the title changes each time I do a new video, but for the description I always include links to my [03:17] socials first and then under there I have a two sentence long SEO section which includes my niche keyword at least three times. It reads this video is a travel vlog in as part of our luxury travel series subscribe to our channel [03:32] if you love travel. So in that the keyword travel was mentioned three times and then after this I'll have four hashtags all related to travel too. So whatever niche you're in you should make sure you do something similar. Include [03:45] your niche keyword in as much as you can but make sure it's done naturally and organically like don't just like copy and paste the same words 50 times because that simply just won't work. Now after that I always set my visibility to [03:57] unlisted first and down here I always have these filled out which are the video tags so every time I upload new videos all of these tags here will automatically be added to it so I don't need to go in and do them manually every [04:10] single time. Now as you can see I've only filled up half the 500 character limit And that's because these tags are standard tags for my channel. They are pretty much the same as my channel tags we did earlier. But I will always leave space for video-specific tags that we'll add later on for each video. [04:25] So make sure yours looks like this, but for your own niche. Then on advanced settings, I always go in and turn automatic chapters off. Because I like to do my own video chapters as YouTube doesn't always get it right. [04:38] I always tick the dubbing which gives YouTube the option to dub your videos and translate them into different languages. And lastly, I always leave comments on with no moderation. Okay so now another thing to consider is that YouTube might not be recommending your videos because you don fully understand what content resonates with your audience yet It can be tough sometimes especially being a small YouTuber to know exactly what type [05:03] of content works well and what doesn't. But this is where a tool like TubeBuddy can actually be really helpful. Their new niche insights tool allows you to compare your channel against your competitors in terms of views or subscribers. [05:16] Like here I've got 9 competitors in my niche and within the leaderboard section it puts my channel up against theirs to see who's performing better. But what's even more useful is this section here, the content standouts. [05:30] This has basically analysed every single video posted by all of my competitors and it's identified the best performers. And this gives me a really useful insight into exactly what types of videos work well [05:42] in my niche. Like the best video so far is How to get out of small channel hell by my friend Nate Black. Nearly 400,000 views and over 12 times better than his channel average. Or this one, How to get more views in 2 minutes by Marcus Jones. [05:56] A million views which is 15 times better than his channel average. So now I can take these proven concepts and use them on my own channel. But whilst it's good to know what's doing well, it's also good to know what isn't doing [06:08] too well as well so we can stay away from that. So here we have the low performance and this section is really important to keep an eye on because it shows exactly what types of videos you should stay well away from. Now if you want access to this information I'd suggest giving CheeseBuddy a try. [06:24] You can get their pro plan for $6 a month which is really good value for money. If you are interested guys the link is in the description below. Okay so now that is your channel optimized and your upload defaults done too but there's [06:37] Two more really simple and easy tricks you can utilize for more recommendations. And these two crop up during the upload process of each video. Now some of you will already have these switched on, but some of you may not. So let's quickly make sure you have. [06:50] So when you're uploading a video, I always want you to make sure you have allow embedding switched on. Turning this on is a simple but powerful way to get free external traffic and boost your YouTube views. [07:03] Now, when enabled, your videos can be embedded into blogs, news sites, forums and even social media pages, meaning people can watch them without needing to visit YouTube directly. This increases watch time it improves your videos ranking and helps drive in new subscribers However if you disable this setting it will block those potential views So always keep this turned on to maximize exposure and let the web help you and distribute your content for you And last but not least [07:31] we have enabling places mentioned which is really good for both local and global discovery. Enabling this setting actually helps YouTube and Google recognize locations in your videos making them more likely to appear in local search [07:47] results and travel related recommendations. So if you mention a city or a landmark or a region, YouTube may automatically tag it, boosting visibility to users searching for content [07:59] about that specific place. This is especially powerful for travel, food, events or vlog style videos as it increases the chances of appearing in Google search results as well. Now to do this, I'll run through one of my best performing travel vlogs here. Now this travel vlog in particular was [08:15] from Mumbai, India. So to benefit from this, you always need to add the location of that place in the location setting here, but also mention the location in your description as much as you can naturally like this, but also in the hashtags and then down here in the tags too. And then finally, [08:32] if you can, in the title. Now, I always used to include each country's flag in the title too, just to help with that extra bit of SEO. So by strategically optimizing and tagging specific [08:44] locations, you can attract both local and global audiences, bringing in more organic views without any extra effort.
