[0:00] winter 2021 had a huge impact on anime [0:03] as a whole [0:04] especially making it become more [0:06] mainstream now [0:08] if that's a bad or good thing we won't [0:10] get into today [0:11] but one blatant fact is that more people [0:14] are buying manga than ever [0:16] and for those new readers being used to [0:18] reading from left to right [0:20] manga is read from right to left with [0:22] many other rules [0:23] today i'm gonna tell you how to read [0:25] your favorite manga correctly so you [0:26] don't look like a total idiot [0:28] and it's actually enjoyable to read as [0:30] always if you like this video [0:32] then make sure to click those little [0:35] clickable [0:36] subscribe and like buttons that are [0:38] always waiting to be pressed [0:40] that's it for me and enjoy the video [0:44] to begin we have this little chart now [0:47] this might look simple [0:48] but i'll make it even more simple for [0:50] you to understand [0:52] as you can see it starts off one from [0:55] the right [0:56] two then it goes down a row three then [0:59] it goes to the little boxes [1:00] four five six seven [1:04] now this is pretty straightforward and [1:06] you're probably like [1:07] why do you need to explain this but yes [1:10] this is because it goes [1:11] right to left now the only part where i [1:14] could see [1:15] you'll be a little bit confused about is [1:18] a four and five [1:20] after that big row of three you will go [1:23] down to four and five [1:24] because it's the first one underneath it [1:26] it's just like reading a book [1:28] when you're reading left to right you [1:30] don't skip a line and then go down to [1:32] the next one [1:32] you always go down to the one right [1:34] underneath it [1:36] so that's where you go four or five [1:38] because they're next to each other [1:40] six seven one thing i always like to do [1:44] whenever i'm confused is if you see four [1:47] and five [1:47] you're like wait a second do i read four [1:49] and then go to six [1:51] no you don't do that because if you look [1:53] at six that long box [1:55] takes up the whole space or it goes [1:57] practically around [1:58] the width of four and five [2:02] so i that's how i say you remember it [2:04] but [2:05] again always start with the little boxes [2:08] and if [2:08] it's like that go down and then finally [2:11] go [2:12] over to the left here's another simple [2:15] graph [2:16] again you go one two three four [2:19] as you can see but then here's the [2:23] problem where many people mess up on [2:25] after five you see six and seven [2:28] many people would go six and then eight [2:31] now this is not the case because [2:34] i think the best way to describe it is [2:36] if there's two [2:38] images or two panels right next to each [2:40] other [2:41] just go straight right to left if [2:43] they're right next to each other [2:45] but in this case they are right next to [2:47] each other so again you would go [2:50] right to left but then you go eight [2:52] because you have to [2:53] apply the same rule of top to bottom [2:57] as an example we can use the first page [3:00] from demon slayer [3:01] you probably already know that you would [3:03] start with panel number one [3:06] and then two now you would not go two [3:09] to the next panel to the left you would [3:11] go two three [3:12] or the panel right underneath it because [3:15] it's the same rule [3:16] top to bottom when they're inside the [3:18] same row [3:19] so when they're inside the same row just [3:21] go along with it either top to bottom or [3:23] right to left it should be pretty [3:24] self-explanatory when you're reading [3:27] after you go two three then you can [3:30] finally go over left [3:32] to your big brother or four here's a [3:35] very simple one [3:36] all you do is go one two three four [3:40] five six this one is straightforward [3:42] again right left [3:44] top bottom those rules will just make [3:46] you glide through these pages [3:49] now this one might look a little hard [3:51] but as long as you use [3:53] the two rules that i explained you [3:54] should be fine you start with our life [3:57] isn't easy [3:58] or one because it's on the complete [4:00] right [4:01] and it practically at the top of the [4:02] page then [4:04] you go to two three four [4:07] because those things use a top to bottom [4:10] rule [4:11] and as you can see those things are [4:12] practically inside the same line [4:14] even though they are separated panels so [4:16] you read them [4:17] just down and also this one's pretty [4:19] easy because there's no picture to the [4:21] left of it [4:22] but again one two three four [4:25] and then five the one at the bottom [4:28] now we have a panel from naruto this one [4:30] should also be pretty easy [4:32] but again right to left top to bottom [4:36] you would start with one two three four [4:40] and then five six seven because again [4:44] six and seven are inside the same row or [4:46] they're practically straight [4:48] from each other so that's why you go top [4:50] to bottom [4:51] six seven and then you know naruto on [4:54] eight [4:56] here's our last example and this i'm [4:58] showing this because [5:00] it has that big picture in the [5:01] background you would start with the big [5:03] picture in the graph background [5:05] then use a top to bottom rule to go the [5:08] pictures that [5:09] are taking up the background so it would [5:11] go [5:12] one two three and then [5:16] four five six again this one should be [5:20] fairly simple [5:20] but i just wanted to put it in there [5:22] just in case you're confused [5:25] here's an example that we're going to be [5:27] using as a quiz [5:28] pause the video here and try and scout [5:30] out what you think would be the order of [5:32] this [5:35] now that you have that done it would go [5:37] one [5:38] two three four five six [5:41] it would be two three four because of [5:43] the top to bottom rule [5:45] and i know i've been saying this so much [5:47] but again this is very important to [5:49] understand and it's very important to [5:51] understand that there's practically two [5:53] rules that will [5:55] practically get you through reading [5:56] manga the right to left rule [5:58] and the top to bottom rule and not to [6:01] mention [6:02] that again if there's specific panels or [6:04] separate panels [6:05] inside a row then you should read them [6:08] in a row with one of those rules [6:11] overall the more manga you read the [6:13] better you'll get at it [6:15] so as long as you just keep on reading [6:17] and keep on practicing [6:18] you'll be reading it like it's a regular [6:20] book i hope this helped you [6:23] and i hope to see you in the next one
