[00:26] long story short, they're switching from the fan subber developed open-source Aegis sub format to a commercial captioning service called Una, which will make it very slightly cheaper to sublic shows to other platforms like
[00:40] Netflix, and more importantly, make it much easier to outsource more subtitling services that don't actually know anything about anime or care about it at all instead of the dedicated former fan sub freelancers they work with now. And
[00:56] the only cost will be every show except maybe their highest profile isekai and maybe their highest profile isekai and shownen jump stuff looking like this.
[01:18] that take longer and longer to fix, if it ever happens at all. And just by the way, if you think, "Oh, I pirate anime. I'm going to be fine. Most bootleg subtitles are ripped right from Crunchyroll. There isn't really a fan
[01:31] subcene anymore. And even if you're a dub watcher, it's still going to affect you since onscreen text is going to be left untrated more and more often. Apparently, Crunchyrolls executives, who also don't really know anything or care
[01:46] about anime, have determined that you will not be upset enough about this degradation of your viewing experience to offset their potential savings. So, it's time to prove how wrong they are. Share videos and articles about this on
[02:01] your social media and comment on all of their social media, letting them know you won't stand for this. You can also boost this short and my original video in the algorithm by leaving likes and comments if you feel like it. And I'd
[02:14] urge any of you with your own platforms or friends that make content to create your own posts and videos about them because the bigger the backlash gets and the more money they stand to lose, the more likely they are to listen. On that
[02:29] note, most important of all, if you feel like cancelling your membership over this, make sure to write in the feedback form that you want them to make a firm public commitment to maintaining their subtitle quality by using Aegis sub
[02:45] instead of Unona. That's UNA with three O's, all caps. We've already managed to delay this in shitification by making noise about it. And we can still stop it noise about it. And we can still stop it in its tracks.
