# Learn From My Mistakes

> Source: [Learn From My Mistakes](https://youtube.com/watch?v=BncchyRfHO0)

## Summary

The video explains why the creator was banned from most sportsbooks and offers strategies to avoid the same fate. It focuses on three key behaviors that trigger bans: consistent player props, pregame betting, and pure EV/arbitrage strategies. The advice centers on disguising sharp betting patterns to extend account longevity.

### Key Points

- **Player Props Trigger Bans** [00:00] — Player props are less efficient for sportsbooks, so consistent hits and high closing line value (CLV) on these bets are quickly detected and lead to faster bans.
- **Pregame vs. Live Betting** [00:15] — Pregame lines are stale and easier for sportsbooks to predict CLV, while live betting is harder to evaluate due to rapid changes (injuries, scores, substitutions), making it less likely to trigger bans.
- **EV and Arbitrage Are Red Flags** [00:29] — Using only EV or arbitrage strategies makes it obvious you never make a bad play, even when you lose, signaling sharp behavior to sportsbooks.
- **Mix in Square Bets** [00:41] — To avoid detection, mix in parlays and straight moneyline bets to appear like a square bettor rather than a sharp, extending the life of your accounts.
- **Limits Are Inevitable** [00:53] — Most profitable bettors will eventually face limits, but these strategies help prolong account usability as long as possible.

### Conclusion

The key takeaway is that sportsbooks ban bettors who exhibit sharp patterns, but by diversifying bet types and favoring live betting, you can extend your account's lifespan even if limits are eventually inevitable.

## Transcript

This is why I'm banned from the majority of sportsbooks in my country and how you can avoid making the same mistakes that I did. Number one is staying away from player props. These aren't nearly as efficient for sportsbooks, so they are going to be able to see that you're hitting these consistently, that you're getting a lot of closing line value,
and that you're just drilling these, and this is something that's going to get you banned a lot more quickly. Number two is doing a bunch of pregame versus live. With pregame, they can predict the CLV so much easier because those lines are stale, they're up for so much longer. Versus live, players get hurt, people score every second,
People get subbed out every second. So it's a lot harder for them to determine, did you just fall into this or are you actually getting CLV on this? And number three is super important, especially if you're using strategies like EV or arbitrage.
If that's all you're doing, they're going to see that. They're going to see you're never making a bad play. Even if it doesn't hit, they're gonna see it's still a good play to make. So therefore you need to be mixing in parlays and just straight bets on the money lines, right?
Just doing those things to make it look like you're more of a square better versus a sharp is going to help you keep the life longer for your books. The reality is most people run into limits at some point if you're profitable, but this is how you're going to extend your life as long as possible.
