[00:02] multiple manga magazines like Shonen Jump, might have finally found a way to Jump, might have finally found a way to truly combat manga piracy. I'm not even joking. And it's not even manga piracy. They might have effectively just finally
[00:14] gotten rid of localizers. Localizers that have been using manga as a vessel, as a gateway to shove politics and agenda within them, and changing the entire meaning of what certain scenes mean. Shueisha might have finally gotten
[00:27] rid of that, but also, like I said, combating piracy. So, I'm obviously talk about what is going on here and why I'm even saying this to begin with. So, basically, it was announced that Shueisha was making a an actual like
[00:43] manga reading site called Manga Million that will have literally over 100 plus languages for different manga. It will basically have like 1 million manga pages as well translated into different languages. And there's even manga that
[00:57] has never been translated outside of Japan finally outside of Japan for everybody to be able to read them. And here's the big thing. This is all being done apparently for free. Like, this is completely free. And this means that you
[01:10] don't need to buy a subscription. You don't need to pay anything. You literally go on to the site and it is completely free with manga that you love, like One Piece obviously, but also stuff that has never been translated
[01:24] outside of Japan officially. So, this is a massive moment honestly for just Shueisha and the manga industry because it seems like finally these companies
[01:36] and Shueisha in general is waking up to a ways to actually finally fight back against piracy. Because fundamentally, one of the big reasons why people pirate stuff to begin with is because obviously accessibility. People don't want to
[01:50] like, you know, a subscription to read a not that, there is sometimes there's restrictions on countries where the not even in your country. And so, the
[02:03] only way to effectively read that manga is through a piracy site. That's not been licensed or outside of Japan that doesn't even have official translation. resort to piracy just to read that to begin with. And then, that's not talking
[02:16] licensing expire, has gone completely out of print, you can't pick up a copy legally online. You know, that's also another issue why piracy has boomed and exploded. But, it seems like Shueisha is trying to counter this by literally
[02:31] trying to counter this by literally offering a very service that pirates do. And what do I mean by that? Well, their service, apparently, is literally about giving manga for free to people to allow you to actually read manga completely.
[02:44] And I I want to make sure I go further. I'm not sponsored by them or anything. doubt Shueisha would want to work with me to begin with. But, I'm just saying that um I I think that this is an incredible step for just fans of manga.
[02:59] Like, this basically is like um finally realizing the solution is to offer a service that is free, not hassle, and it's not forcing you to get propaganda and agenda forced into it, which I think is a pretty big deal about this entire
[03:13] situation that I need to segue into. So, how do we know localizers have been cut out? Well, the big thing we know is because the people that are translating the um the actual manga chapters that are on the site is actually a um
[03:30] an AI company. Now, I know I know that this is a very complex conversation, and there's a lot of people to get very angry when it comes to the subject of AI, AI translations, AI's going to steal your job, all that type of stuff. But, I
[03:43] want to fundamentally make this very clear, okay? It's been a very long time going to happen. You can love it or hate it, but it was only a matter of time, screw-ups, that for instance, you have like different localizers do within the
[03:57] manga industry, like when they translate something into English, and bring it it is not the same thing. And obviously, authors and you know, Shueisha in general, that are hearing about this
[04:10] not happy at all. And so, the solution is to go through AI. Now, is it going to to be perfect. I think there's probably going to be a lot of issues as well. But, the thing here is is that it does cut out a huge issue of those that try
[04:24] to press their politics within a manga that should not be there, or add zoomer there that instantly dates the manga page. So, I think that in general, this is a really interesting step that they're taking. I'm not fully against
[04:39] the AI stuff. I'm not. I mean, once again, when you have localizers that continuously tarnish manga over and over again, it's no wonder eventually get no-brainer. It really is. I mean, people have been talking about this subject for
[04:53] point, and now it obviously is finally happening. But, before I go any further into this though, I think that it is really interesting just seeing Shueisha finally kind of do what piracy has been doing. They actually finally decided to
[05:07] uh join piracy. Like, we'll offer you a is a free service, there's probably going to be ads or something. That's my completely fair. I mean, if they add in ads that aren't too intrusive, I mean, I
[05:23] platform. I mean, there will definitely be ad blockers and stuff like that, but if they try to replicate this like a piracy site, I think Shueisha has a lot to gain. I think that they really can generate a massive audience that
[05:36] actually might even flow people away from piracy sites into this, because you would have translations that might not have agenda thrown into them. You will there, because it's an official company. You don't have to worry about the site
[05:49] things like that. So, I I I honestly hope that this is a a good thing. Like this actually continues to be a good thing. I mean, the new Shonen Jump is I hope that there isn't a lot of controversy with like the translations.
[06:03] I mean, it's already happening. People are community community noting everyone about the situation and I think that in general it probably will explode in the coming days. But, I do hope that um there there is a quality checker for the
[06:15] translations. I haven't personally read anything on the site yet. I still need quality checker and they they look at everything properly, I think make a long story short about Manga Million, I think that legit this is an
[06:29] amazing and impressive start for Shueisha. They have made a lot of like they've been behind in a lot of areas, but them even doing something embracing the future and saying, "Look,
