[00:02] all be noticing for the first time, without exaggeration. There's a very well-known Hadith of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in which he says—and this Hadith is authentic—that all of Adam's descendants are sinners, and the best of sinners are those who repent. So, you might have finished reading this by now, and of course, you might be asking me now, "What's new about this [00:17] Hadith?" Haven't you ever asked yourself why the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned that the why the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned that the best of sinners are those who repent? And why did he specifically say "those who repent"? There's a well- best of sinners are those who repent? And why did he specifically say "those who repent"? There's a well- [00:30] you shouldn't judge yourself for a mistake you made in the past and continue to punish yourself for it in the future. In other words, let's say you made a mistake in the past, and this mistake might have been big or small, but you keep punishing yourself for it even though a very long time has passed. [00:46] Psychology tells you that you shouldn't do something like that because it's a kind of injustice to your current self. Because at that time... You didn't commit that mistake at the time because you weren't as aware or as [00:59] time because you weren't as aware or as mistake has happened, you have awareness and understanding of it. So, it's like you're punishing a new person for [01:11] something someone else did unknowingly, or like you're punishing someone who did something without realizing it. Psychology tells you that you shouldn't do this. This is where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) comes in, saying that all humans err, and the best of those who err are not those who regret it, [01:24] that all humans err, and the best of those who err are not those who regret it, not those who punish themselves, but those who repent. It's not about saying, "I'll repent, I'll not those who punish themselves, but those who repent. It's not about saying, "I'll repent, I'll the mistake from the perspective of what I gained from it and what I learned so I don't repeat it. [01:38] But it's not right to keep punishing myself for it. Self-punishment is very bad, and anyone who thinks that self-punishment is a form of repentance is mistaken. If someone prefers to die for a mistake they made, whether small or large, that's very wrong and incorrect. You're supposed to [01:55] repent. You might feel remorse at the time, but remorse means repenting in order to do so, not remaining in a state of regret for your whole life over a mistake you made. Glory be to God! This hadith contains immense mercy, tranquility, and made. Glory be to God! This hadith contains immense mercy, tranquility, and kindness from God. When you [02:09] make a mistake, don't keep flagellating yourself for it. Get up, dust yourself off, repent to God, and continue on your path.
