## Summary

In this live stream, Erik Voss of New Rockstars addresses fan questions about the upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday* trailer, providing updates on its release and debunking AI-generated fakes. He also shares insights on other major releases like *The Mandalorian & Grogu* and discusses the state of AI in content creation.

- **Guardians of the Galaxy Absence** [75:14] — Erik thinks the Guardians of the Galaxy will not appear in Doomsday because the trailer is already packed with other characters.
- **Death Predictions** [79:44] — Erik predicts at least 10 of the 26 actors on the tote bag will die in the movie.

## Transcript

Yo yo yo. Welcome to New Rock Stars. I'm
Eric Voss. We're live here on this
Friday, May the 1st. It was going to be
May. Now it is May. Uh we're doing
another like Friday office hours chat.
Kind of a mailbag thing. We try to do
this on Fridays to answer your biggest
questions. Uh I have some potential
updates about the Avengers Doomsday
trailer. Um I I wanted to react to some
of these AI recreations of mine and
others descriptions of what we saw at
Cineacon. Uh, and I really just want to
answer your questions. What What were
your big questions from the from the
week of nerd news from movies and TV
shows and and other big releases that
you're most excited for headed into
these summer months? Are you seeing
Devil Wear's Prada right now? If you
are, get off your phone in the movie
theater and enjoy Stanley Tucci's weird
underbite that he has in the movie. Um,
yeah, guys, it's so cool to be here with
you all. Um, thank you for joining us
for this live stream. Uh, thank you F.
Patterson 38. I really appreciate the
nice words. Um, uh, Ryan Newton saying,
"Oh, we announced our big Road to
Doomsday schedule for May." Uh, and a
lot of people are griping like, "Why did
you merge the three Guardians of the
Galaxy movies into one episode and the
three Ant-Man movies into one episode."
Folks, I have seen I've seen the trailer
for Avengers Doomsday, and I now know
what kind of will be in the movie and
what probably won't be in the movie. And
I'm telling you, it doesn't look like
there's room for the Guardians of the
Galaxy to be in this movie. I could be
wrong. Maybe Star-Lord does show up in
the movie. I just think they're all
going to show up in Secret Wars. And I
do think they're worth talking about
because James Gunn moved the ball
forward in the MCU in a hugely
significant way and we can't just like
neglect that. But to to say that like
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2
deserves its own episode of this podcast
as we're running out of weeks until
December 18th would really just limit
the amount of time we have to talk about
stuff that you guys actually need
answers on. So, I hope you can forgive
us. I'm not going to do this any less of
a service. Uh we've done we've covered
those movies exhaustively on New
Rockstars. I really just wanted to
narrow our focus and answer the
questions about Avengers Doomsday as we
now know it to be. Um, so check out the
recent community post. Basically,
tomorrow, May 2nd, will be our episode
about Captain America: The Winter
Soldier. The first Russo Brothers
Avengers uh movie, uh, the movie that
changed the Marvel Cinematic Universe
into the Russo Brothers coded universe
it is now. Uh, a hugely important movie
to revisit. Next week, we're going to
look at Guardians of the Galaxy volume
1, 2, and three, and the holiday special
in one episode. Oh, excuse me. That's
two weeks after that. Before that, we're
going to get to X-Men: Days of Future
Past, which I think might be in the, you
know, after the Avengers movies and
Civil War, might be the most important
movie uh that the Russo brothers are
thinking about. Um, I'm telling you,
that movie and the way it leaves things
in the Fox X-Men universe is going to be
hugely important for Doomsday. So, we're
covering that. Uh we're going to cover
um oh uh Age of Ultron later this month
as one episode and we're going to cover
uh the Ant-Man trilogy including Quantum
Mania uh at the end of the month on
Memorial Day weekend. I think it's
Memorial Day weekend. That's to answer
the questions. Um
hey Absolute Cinema, good to see you
join us for this conversation. Uh
Absolute Cinema, that's right. Scorsese
is in Mandalorian and Grou. Arthur
Dennis saying Avengers interesting stage
trailers leaked on YouTube. No, it
isn't. No, it isn't. No, it isn't. The
there are there are AI versions of it
that are recreating it. But I'm begging
you do a better job to discern between
what's AI and what's real. I'm going to
help you do that as I react to one of
these trailers. Um it it I I've looked
everywhere on the internet. That place
Cinemacon was like a lockbox. Nothing
was uh recorded. Uh some people were
like, "Oh, well, we saw the ending
slide." I think someone maybe had the
the ending slide recorded, but like it's
not out there. It's not out there and
hopefully this week. Um, so to give you
guys an update on when the trailer will
come out. Um, from what I know, uh,
we're now May 1st. Um, Monday will be
May the 4th. We are confirmed to get a
new trailer for Christopher Nolan's The
Odyssey during, uh, Steven Cobear on
that's going to be Monday night. So, I'm
thinking that trailer might hit YouTube
on Tuesday morning, May the 5th. That
whole week is going to be a big Disney
Star Wars week. Uh, the two final
episodes of Maul Shadow Lord drop on
Monday. I don't think Disney's going to
want to give that much attention to
Avengers Doomsday, at least on Monday
and Tuesday of next week. I think the
earliest we'll see it would be
Wednesday, May the 6th, or Thursday, May
the 7th. Realistically, I think it's
going to be Monday, May 11th or Tuesday,
May 12th, if it does come out this
month. Uh, a lot of you guys are like,
"Well, are we even going to get it
before July?" Yeah, I do think we will
get it before July. Um, often Disney
likes to release trailers at the start
of a month um on a Tuesday, Wednesday,
or Thursday as opposed to a Monday or a
Friday. Um, but there's enough of these
scoopers out there who know people who
release stuff. Um, you know, I I don't
have any of these contacts, but we'll
know within 24 hours of advance. Uh, and
I think if it were going to drop on
Monday, we would know today. Um, so
don't expect it on Monday, and I
wouldn't expect it on Tuesday.
Um, so yeah, I'm sorry that that I'm I'm
pretty surprised Marvel Studios hasn't
released that trailer yet because it is
cut to be a two-minute trailer. Um, it's
it's a trailer that belongs on YouTube.
It's a trailer that all of you should
see. It's a trailer that none of you
guys should have to go to New Rockstars
for our trailer descriptions for for
longer than a few days. Um, it's crazy
that they haven't done it yet. Uh, yeah,
the movie is releasing December, but
like so is Dune part 3, and we've gotten
trailers for that. We've gotten a lot of
marketing for that. We've seen the I've
seen the first eight minutes of that
movie. So, uh, yeah, I don't think
Marvel Studios can afford to wait too
much longer to release it on YouTube.
And that's why I think they're not going
to wait for Comic-Con. I think this
trailer is cut. It's ready to go and
they're just waiting for the right few
days to do it. Um I really did think it
was going to be this week and that it
was going to be in front of the Devil
Wars Prada. Um but obviously those are
different audiences.
One fear that I had is that Disney out
of um fear that The Mandalorian and Grou
is under going to underperform is going
to release this only theatrically in
front of The Mandalorian and Grou um
screening. It's it's coming out on May
22nd. So I was like, "Oh, are they going
to drop it and screening starting
Thursday night, May 21st?" And then it's
going to be like another Avatar Fire and
Ash thing where you got to like go to
the movie theater to see it. I'm If if
anybody from Disney watches New Rockst
Stars, for the love of God, do not do
that. Just put it on YouTube at the
start of that week, please. And then if
you want to put it in front of
screenings of Mandalorian and Grou,
people will love this trailer so much.
There will be some people who are like,
"You know what? I got to see that on a
big screen." Uh uh I'll I'll even make
that offer from New Rockstars.
If you release it on YouTube and then
release it in uh in movie theaters, New
Rockstars will host a big Mandalorian
and Grou watch party at the AMC 16 in
Burbank where we'll all go see
Mandalorian and Grou together and I will
only hang out after that movie ends to
make sure people watch the whole thing.
And uh if anybody starts throwing
popcorn, I'll yell at them and I'll
shame them. Uh I I I'll do whatever it
takes to make sure people will see this
on YouTube and not have to go see a
movie at a movie theater. As much as I
love theatrical distribution, at this
point, people need to see this and it
needs to come out on YouTube worldwide.
Um,
uh, Sarah Atadorian, great to see you
joining us today. Um, Nerd Girl Jean,
uh, yes, we're all trash bags here. Stay
fresh cheese bags. I don't get all the
jokes here, but I love to see all you
joining us. Um, this is a, if you're
just joining us, we're doing kind of a
Friday AMA, a mailbag show, a live
stream that we're doing here on New
Rockstars, where I really do want to
answer your questions. Um, Ethan, when
will we begin the Road to Doomsday
schedule? The May schedule is a
community post, so if you just if you're
on your device, just scroll back and
you'll see what the May schedule is. And
then sometime in May, we'll announce the
June schedule. Uh, we really try to keep
things flexible. Hey, thank you for the
super chat. Kenzie asking, "Are you
concerned that the Mandalorian Grou
movie is just going to be one long
season?" I've seen the first 17 minutes
of the movie and it doesn't seem to be
like a long season of The Mandalorian
and Grou. It honestly seems to be like a
really high budget episode of The
Mandalorian Grou that's on story, that's
on steroids. Um, really great VFX,
really great action that I saw in the
opening scene. Um, but honestly that bar
was set really high by a lot of the best
episodes of The Mandalorian and Grou.
Um, the scenes that I saw, I couldn't
really tell if they were shot on the
volume. I think there is one shot inside
the new Razor Crest cockpit where I'm
like, "Oh, that might be in the volume."
But the rest of it, um, looked pretty
good. Um, like I guess what I'm still
unsure about is like the story, you
know, like why this story needs to be a
movie that people see. Um, so jury's
still out there. I I I have not seen the
full movie yet. I think I will in the
next couple weeks. Um I'm honestly not
that concerned. I I I think like this
movie was a big labor of love by John
Favro and and I think all the press that
he and and the crew have been doing,
it's it doesn't I I've done some press
events at this time and I can tell when
the directors or showrunners are kind of
full of it and John Favro doesn't seem
to be full of it. He seems to have a
genuine passion for the movie he
created. Now, whether that's going to
translate to a to a good movie, I have
no idea. I have no idea. Uh, but I it
does seem to be uh handcrafted in a way
that a lot of Star Wars movies have not
been. So, I'm excited to see it. I
honestly th those first 17 minutes
cooked hard enough for me that uh I'm
looking forward to the rest of the
movie. The movie is 2 hours 20 minutes.
So, I'm like there's still 2 hours of
this movie that I haven't seen and the
trailers don't really seem to tell us
like what the rest of the movie is. I
have I'll say this. I have far bigger
concerns for other much balihood summer
releases than The Mandalorian and Grou.
And if you have questions about those,
I'll answer.
Um, let's see.
Thanks for reminding us, Nerd Girl Jean.
Oh, funny you should ask, Anthony. What
I'm wearing is our new Doom Iron Man uh
crossover shirt. I don't know what it's
called. I've been calling it nude chest
so blessed. I don't think that's what
it's called, but you can get it at
nerdriot.shop. It's a cool shirt. I like
it. It feels good. Um I like these black
t-shirts. They hide all kinds of sins.
I'm talking about like my um my poor
physical condition.
Okay, I see a question here. What about
the many time machine Steve used to
return the Infinity Stones? Do you think
the time machine is going to be
mentioned in Doomsday at least? You
know, it didn't show up in the trailer
that I saw, and it hasn't shown up in
the teasers that I've seen, but I think
you're talking about the the quantum
tech wrist device that that Tony Stark
made. This is this kind of watch that
you uh connect pin particles to. And uh
Steve did grab four of those vials from
1970. So, I think he has a couple extra
charges, but I I would imagine if he
made the decision to stay in the past,
he um would have destroyed those vials
to eliminate the risk of going ahead or
the risk of like, you know, someone
getting into his house and stealing it
or the risk of like his kid, you know,
accidentally sending himself through
time. I I don't think he would still
have them, but I do think his decision
will get mentioned. I think his decision
to stay in the past is kind of what led
to some kind of incursion. It's why he's
a target by Dr. Doom. And honestly,
after seeing the trailer and seeing
Steve Rogers in his uh in his new
attire, that that's kind of like the big
question I have is like, okay, I I
understand how he stayed in the late 40s
and now that he has a kid now, it's in
the early 50s. Um, how does he catch up
with the with Thor and the other
Avengers as they are now in the events
of Doomsday? Did some time travel take
place or or just is the nature of
incursions such that it can bend time
and space in a specific way? Um did did
Steve get relocated by the TVA? That
that's a theory I played with before.
Hey everybody, if you're just joining
us, oh we're doing like a Friday office
hours mailbag thing where I'm just here
to kind of answer questions you have.
Um
let's see. Paleo Ant asking why couldn't
people live stream or video call the
trailer. Maybe you're talking about at
Cineacon in Las Vegas. Like how come the
people in the room couldn't have their
devices out? Um because security was
that tight. Um they warned us every day
of the panel there. We were in a press
section, but that whole room, the Dolby
Coliseum in Vegas at Caesar's Palace was
heavily patrolled by very talented and
very good at their job security folks
who if you had your device out, anything
that would be pointed, they were
watching everyone like hawks. And
anytime someone might have accidentally
had their phone in a way that looked
like they were recording, there was like
three security people who would pounce
on them and then take them out and
embarrass them in front of all their
colleagues and be like, "Show me your
phone. delete whatever you have on
there. Okay, you can sit back. And if
some people were just completely thrown
out. Um so that's why and and while um
for the Disney panel, Disney did change
the rules where you could record at
least when people were doing speeches on
stage or when the Disney executives or
when the when Feige or the Rooster
Brothers were out there, as soon as
footage was shown, devices down. And
they were they were on top of it. Um, so
and specifically they sent out another
um a follow-up email the day of saying
like no, you can't uh you you cannot
live stream. And I think that was their
concern is that people would be just
live streaming part of it. They they say
you couldn't live stream any of the
speeches because they didn't want that
live stream to accidentally continue
when footage began. So I'm telling you
it's physically impossible. They also
had these like green laser pointers to
just kind of embarrass you. And that's
why like this this AI thing I'm about to
show you is certainly not real. I even
the creator of it is saying it was AI,
but it's fooling enough people and I'm
telling you if you would never have a
static shot from that angle that
wouldn't have been disrupted or
interrupted in some way.
I think Berg is in the chat. Yeah. So
Berg is there. Uh I think we got Josh
and Brian in the chat. Josh and Brian
helped set up this chat. Um,
oh yeah, that was uh I answered your
question, I think already, but thank you
also for your super chat donation. That
was very generous. Uh, super chat for
Matt in the chat. Why do you think
Marvel's marketing team is doing their
fans so dirty? It's rude at this point.
[sighs]
I don't think Marvel considers it rude.
I I think Marvel is uh I think they're
trying to focus on Daredevil born again
right now. And I think they really do
believe that once they start marketing
Avengers Doomsday, they're going to put
enough on YouTube that, you know, this
kind of gap period that we're in now
will just kind of be forgotten. Uh, and
they might be right about that. I think,
you know, imagine in two weeks, uh, you
have the Avengers Doomsday trailer on
YouTube and we're going to be all over
it. You guys are going to be pouring
over it. All of your social platforms
are just going to be obsessed with this.
Are you really going to remember this
period between midappril and miday where
you're like I still want it? I think
they're they think that they can play
our expectations. Um I'm here to say
don't wait that much longer and release
it on Wednesday, please. Um but yeah, I
I can understand why you think it's why
why you think it's rude. But I will say
that like, you know, everyone was
criticizing Sony the 24 hours before
they they showed the Spider-Man brand
new day trailer where they would just
release these one to two second
snippets. And I remember there were a
lot of takes saying, "Is this the
dumbest marketing move of all time?" I
remember when they announced the the
cast with the set chairs, there were a
lot of people who talk about movies for
a living who were saying, "This was the
dumbest marketing ploy of all time." And
I just think anything different or
anything out of the norm of expectation
is going to be critiqued that way. But
as soon as like the thing comes out,
everyone retroactively looks at those
things as genius. This the Spider-Man
brand new day trailer broke records on
social media. So I don't think it I
think we only feel this way right now.
And I know we can only live in the
present, but this too shall pass. U but
I understand feeling that way. Hey,
thank you for becoming re-uping as a
rewatcher Sarah.
Um, pretty soon I'm going to be jumping
over. Oh, another super chat saying
Hannah saying, "Oh, now that the Oscars
is allowing multiple roles for people to
be nominated, example, Anne Hathaway
with five movies this year, who do you
wish could have had multiple
nominations?" Well, um, I think the
change that was announced today is that
uh, an actor can be nominated for
multiple uh, roles in a single movie,
right? Maybe I misread that, but I'm
pretty sure people could be nominated
for multiple roles in like different
categories or or or in different um like
you can have people who were nominated
twice for best actor for different
movies in a year, but maybe I'm wrong.
Um I have to double check on that. Um
but who do you think could have had
multiple nominations? I think Michael B.
Jordan could have had a nomination for
Smoke and Stack in Sinners. I think he
was that good. I I know that DiCaprio
has been nominated both for leading
actor and supporting actor in a year
before um that's happened before. Um I
don't think Anne Hathaway will be
nominated multiple times this year. Uh
maybe end of Oak Street will be that
good. She she was fine in Devil Wars
Prada 2. Um I don't think she's going to
be that great in the in the Odyssey. I
think there's going to be a lot of great
performances in that movie, but who
knows? As as Odysius's wife, it's a huge
role. It's like the second biggest role
in the movie potentially. So maybe uh
maybe she is kind of the Emily Blunt
role of that movie. I'm trying to think
who do you wish could have had multiple
who let you guys let me know in the
chat. Who do you think in a single year
should have had multiple nominations. I
mean Zenaia this year is going to have a
pretty big year from from Dune. Um,
someone just saying, "We want Doom."
Yeah, I get it. Um, wow. Another super
chat saying, "Invincible repeatedly
shows characters survive injuries that
should be fatal. What are we actually
meant to see as real stakes? Physical
danger, emotional fallout, or something
else entirely driving the tension?" From
Indie.
Uh, wow, great question. I I think you
should ask the person who people think
is me when he appears on other podcasts,
Robert Kirkman. Um I I think I might
have to shave my beard so I don't look
like Robert Kirkman or JD Vance anymore.
Would it freak you guys out if I just
really reduced this to stubble and
started wearing glasses or something? I
just I'm getting tired of getting tagged
in like Robert Kirkman post be like,
"Eric, is that you?" Uh it's it's
flattering to be compared to Robert
Kirkman. not as flattery for the other
guy, but I admit it's pretty funny. Um,
the
uh when the question here of like what
are we meant to see real stakes,
physical danger, emotional fallout, or
something else entirely driving the
tension? I really don't know because
you're talking about Viltromites in that
show. Uh, it's really hard to know. Um,
but I I don't know. I feel like I
haven't had that much trouble watching
Invincible and knowing like when it
matters versus when it doesn't. Um, I
think if anything it it it impacts me
more to see someone who's like beaten to
a bloody pulp and then they they gasp
and they're still alive. I mean, we had
that on the boys recently. I think
that's kind of the fun thing about these
really violent superhero shows is seeing
characters who are beaten nearly to
death and and see the emotional fallout
after that. I'm sorry if that doesn't
answer your question. I just I honestly
don't know the answer to it. Oh, hello
Duvall. Did he ever do OA in Boy Scouts?
Well, Matt, uh, the OA is a, um,
is a secret cult within scouting. OA
refers to Order of the Arrow. Um, and
yes, I did do OA. I did not do
Brotherhood. I was a Sash and Dash, as
we call it. Uh, so, but I was an Eagle
Scout. Um, I got my Eagle Scout in, uh,
2005. Um, yeah, I did scouting. Um, and
OA I thought was pretty cool. I just
wanted to get that sash so I could wear
it to merit badge ceremonies. Um, but
once I got the sash, I was like, "Oh, I
don't want to do all these other things
that they do." Um, maybe I would have
had more fun if I did though. Uh, but
yes, I did the whole I guess I can say
that I did OA. I just can't tell you
what I did for it. But even the fact
that I have to say that was just kind of
culty and weird. Um, nothing awful
happened. Basically, I had to stay quiet
for a whole day and and
like clear out a bunch of brush from a
popular camping ground in North Florida,
and I hated it. And I was like, this
just feels like a way to have unpaid
labor throughout the year. I that's why
I was like, I'm not going to join a
group that does this kind of stuff. Um I
have other service projects like around
my neighborhood that I can do.
Um
Charles saying, "Did you see that pick
of Foggy with a beard in court?" I
didn't see that photo link, please. Um,
now if you guys are going to ask me
questions about the Daredevil Born Again
finale, the season 2 finale, I now have
seen it. So, I I don't want to like
answer any kind of theory questions. I
can kind of give you hints, but I don't
want to spoil anything. Um, but I now
have seen it. Um, so I uh as of right
now, um, so yeah, sorry I I can't really
indulge a whole lot of speculation and
theory about it, but I can say I liked
it. I really like the finale. I I
thought it it it lives up to the hype of
the season. It It doesn't fix every
gripe that I had with the season, but
overall, it's a really cool, really
worthy finale. I think you guys will
like it. Some insane insane stuff
happens.
Uh William asking, "Will you guys be
covering Comic- Con?" Yeah, we're going
to be in San Diego. We're going to be in
Hall H. We're going to be covering it
all.
Um,
who's on your fantasy box office team?
Yens Rock, I don't have a fantasy box
office team. Are you just saying like
who do you think will be the biggest
performers of the year? Toy Story 5 and
Spider-Man Brand New Day are going to be
the biggest performers of the summer. I
think Toy Story 5 will make even more
money than Spider-Man Brand New Day. Um,
I think beyond that, Minions and
Monsters will do really well. The
Odyssey is going to do really well. I
don't know if these June releases other
than Toy Story are going to do that
well. I think um Scary Movie 6 is going
to surprise everyone. I think there's a
chance that um Jackass um will
outperform Supergirl. Probably not that
great of a chance, but I think Jackass
will do better than you think and
Supergirl will do worse than you think.
I don't know if that answered your
questions.
Hey, thanks for your donation, Tony.
Thank you for saying that. Um I'm just
saying there are some side by sides. A
lot of people saying do not shave.
That's what my wife says. She's like I
can't imagine you at one point I did
have to shave because I was in the
Groundlings. Um I was doing Writer's Lab
and you're not allowed to have a beard
when you're doing that because they want
to allow you to have fake facial hair
and mustaches for different characters
that you play. So I had to shave. Uh,
like I've had this beard for the past 13
years, no 14 years. And then I had to
shave in 2018 and it really I was with
my wife at that point. We were dating
and she's like, "Regrow that as soon as
you can."
Yeah, I think my kid will freak. I think
I don't want to scare my son. So maybe
that's a good reason why.
[sighs and gasps]
Hector, I agree.
Yeah,
I I have this theory that part of the
reason I've had issues with Daredevil
Born Again is that it's kind of without
foggy in it, it's kind of devoid of
humor. Like it has levity in it, but
it's like the only MCU live action thing
that's ever been released that has no
jokes in it. Like there's there's no h
it's meant to be serious. But even like
serious shows like The Sopranos,
Breaking Bad, those shows have some of
the funniest things in them. Even in
their very dark final seasons, have
moments of levity. Daredevil Born Again
has no humor. The the the
City Without Fear Fisk video, I guess,
is trying to be kind of wacky, but I
think it's so confusing and so
overwhelming that I didn't find it that
funny. So I think when I but I think
people like that it it isn't trying to
make jokes. It's trying to tell a very
serious story. So when I do bits on top
of it like recognize that it's weird
that Frank Castle's SON SAYS GET HIM
DADDY UH AND tells them to keep killing
people. I think there's people who watch
Daredevil born again who are like now is
not the time. It's like they're sitting
at a funeral and they don't want to see
the alter server laughing which I did. I
used to be an alter server and we would
mess with each other and try to make
each other laugh during funerals which I
think is like one of the worst things
you could ever do. Uh that was just a
prank we would do. U because like yeah
you don't want to freaking laugh.
So I don't know. What do you guys am I
am I on to something with that theory?
What do you think Brian? Do you think
people have a sense of humor with
Daredevil War again?
>> I think so.
>> Sorry. I think I think you missed a
super.
>> Uh oh.
>> Oh, wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Do you think
that trade shows like Cineacon and the
now extinct E3 are misused by studios
when their panels are so exciting to the
end consumer? Both have the same
discourse surrounding them in my
opinion. Um,
no. I don't I don't think they I don't
think they're misused by studios because
I mean I can't really speak to E3. I
wasn't there for that discourse, but I
can say having been there at Cineacon
and having covered Cineacon from afar
without being in the room for several
years before that, I understand that
they're they're making these promotions
for people who work at movie theaters.
And yes, there is news that's happening
and that's why press is invited. But
they're they're fighting a battleground
at movie theaters all over the world
there in Vegas. Um they're not there to
make marketing that's like meant to be
seen
um by everyone online. Um, I think in
the case of Avengers Doomsday, that
trailer was 2 minutes long and it was
cut to be a YouTube trailer. But like,
you know, audiences online should not be
able to see the first several minutes of
the of uh of Dune part 3 or the the five
minute sizzle reel of Digger. Uh, or I'm
trying to think or that much of the
Mandalorian and Grou, you know, like I
can understand like that should be shown
to exhibitors in a large room with a
huge screen. That's how we should see
it. So, I think it's a unique trade show
that um that I think these studios
should think about as part of a
twohanded strategy. One being for the
mar for the exhibitors and then the next
week should have something else. I think
a good example of this was in 2025,
James Gun was there to show Superman
footage um for that summer's movie and
literally the next day as the Disney
panel was starting, he released that uh
that four minutes or whatever was online
on YouTube. Uh and I think he felt that
those four minutes would work on a on a
YouTube setting. Um I think James Gunn
is kind of plugged in with the internet
in ways that not all movie studios are
and not all filmmakers are. Um, but I I
do I don't know if it's in general I
wouldn't say it's in general misused. I
think certain examples um are are
missteps, but overall I I think they
kind of know what they're doing. I I I
think it's hard to judge it while it's
still happening. And I think after
Avengers Doomsday comes out this time
next year, we can look back and say,
"Okay, was that movie properly
marketed?"
Hi Marian.
You're a Cub Scout. Not the same thing.
I think I would have had more fun in Boy
Scouts if I was a Cub Scout first.
Garrett asking, "Do you think they're
waiting for Daredevil born again finale
in the Punisher special presentation
before releasing the Doom trailer?"
Could be. Could be. I mean, I don't
know. I I I think there have been times
where they've had they've released
trailers for things right as like Disney
Plus things were happening. Wasn't it
like an episode of Daredevil Born Again
season one? Like that day they that's
when they announced the uh they did the
Avenger chairs, the set chairs thing. I
think March 27th, 2025, there was a new
episode of Daredevil Born Again that
morning. So, I don't think they care
that much about overlapping with some of
the Disney Plus stuff. I know I said
that like they're really focused on
Daredevil right now, but I do think they
think they could do multiple things at
once. I think if anything there's um
it's rare that they counterprogram two
Disney theatrical releases on YouTube
the same day.
Oh, we have another opinion. Please
shave. Glasses are fun, but I don't need
them.
Do a mustache.
I really don't want to scare my son.
Um I know a lot of people are dying and
doomsday, but do you think the
announcements of Katherine Newton in the
film seals Scott's fate? I don't I
wouldn't say that. I think Paul Rudd is
so fun and he's so beloved by all these
filmmakers and film executives that like
I think he's kind of low status enough
to where I don't see him dying in this
movie. Uh I think a lot of the X-Men are
going to die in this movie. Celeste, no.
I have not seen the Michael Jackson
movie. I've not seen it yet at least.
Hey, thanks for your donation. Lion of
Demise.
Uh, Brave King saying, "Do you have you
been following The Boys? What do you
think? The last two episodes felt a
little fillers. I don't want this to be
Game of Thrones season 8." Um, I have
been following The Boys. I've been
really enjoying Jessica's breakdowns of
all those episodes. I um I can
understand the criticisms that these two
recent episodes feel like I wouldn't
call them fillers, but what I will say
is that they do feel like episodes of a
season that's earlier in the run of a
show. Um, I think the the whole idea of
the fungus that are turning people
against each other is uh is a really fun
idea if we're like in season two or
season 3. But here in season 5, I'm kind
of like, all right. But what's important
for a final season is that every episode
drives us toward the ending in some way.
And I do feel like each of these
episodes has moved the ball forward in
some way. Um, I think the most recent
episode, the firecracker episode did
that more significantly. Um, but I I I'm
enjoying this final season a lot. I I
think the um I don't think it's going to
be Game of Thrones season 8 because Game
of Thrones season 8, we learned during
the Battle of Winterfell that we were in
trouble. We learned like, oh wait, this
is a very long episode where we cannot
see anything because it's poorly lit.
And uh and the way it ended with just
Arya making the big move instead of Jon
Snow having this epic battle uh with the
Night King, I was like, "Oh, uh-oh.
Uh-oh." And then um that was like I
think it was a sixth episode final
season and that was like during episode
3 and then we all kind of knew every
episode that came after that that we
were in trouble. So we're more than
halfway through the boys final season
and I'm enjoying it way more than I
enjoyed the final season. Um, I I don't
think it will be as controversial
ultimately as uh Stranger Things final
season or as um as Game of Thrones final
season, but you know, I may eat those
words.
Um yeah, Nate, we were talking about
this before. I I think uh if you're
making this um if you're making any kind
of polymarket bet or Khi bet based on
this, don't don't I don't have any
inside sources. I but I would say
there's a more than a 50% chance that we
get the trailer on YouTube in May. But
if you make a bet and lose money on it,
don't come after me. I think that's a
big mistake to to go to New Rockstars
for for that kind of information.
Uh thanks Brave King for liking it.
Yeah, E3 is gone now, but we do have IGN
Live. New Rockstars might be doing
something with IGN Live this year. We'll
see.
Um, I don't know what you like about
Whalefall, but it was like the craziest
thing I saw at Cineacon. Austin Abrams
is playing a scuba diver in a movie with
Josh Brolan in it, and we saw like a
whole scene, and it freaked me out, and
it's still like messing with me.
Um,
Hannah asking, "Are you are y'all
streaming during the upfronts?" Um, I I
don't know. I don't know the exact
schedule of the upfronts, but yes, if it
if it looks like big stuff is going to
be announced during the upfronts, we
probably will. If it's during the
workday, there's a good chance that we
live stream during it and cover all the
news as it comes out.
Um, Isord is asking if Magic and Doctor
Strange team up in the Mutant Saga. Um,
I think that'd be a fun way to bring
Doctor Strange into some Mutant Saga
stories. Um, but I do think the the MCU
is going to have their own logic of
which characters can be mutants uh based
off of their genetic condition that they
were born with.
Andrew saying, "Do you think we will get
the Daredevil trailer or the Doomsday
trailer rather with live action Moana
similar to Fantastic 4 and Avatar last
July?" I I'm really hoping we get the
Doomsday trailer before July. I think it
would be too long to wait. I think the
latest you can wait is like the last
week in May. At that point, people are
just going to lose their minds.
What's your guess in where our defenders
and Tom Spider-Man coexist during
Doomsday?
Uh, we have an episode of the sneak peek
coming out on Sunday where Berg and I do
our best to try to like reconcile how
the Daredevil characters fit into the
world of Manhattan as it is in Doomsday.
Now that we have that Avengers Tower is
in the skyline of Daredevil, um there's
a lot of ways it could work. I I think
um they're just gonna be sidelined
during the events of Doomsday and season
3 might take place before or kind of
co-terminus with the events of Doomsday.
We could have a postredit scene to
season 3 that kind of connects
everything like the Ant-Man and the Wasp
postredit scene ended up tying in with
Infinity War um and making Daredevil a
very important character in Secret Wars.
And I don't think Daredevil will be in
Doomsday, but I I do think there is like
I do think there's room for him in a
huge Doomsday movie.
Uh Sarah asking about my dog Darla.
She's doing good. H we're in a new house
that we're renting and she's like
freaking out because the light with
daylight savings time it's now brighter
on that side of the house. So, she kind
of has this cicadian rhythm and just
starts freaking out at all the squirrels
running on the roof of that part of the
house. So, we're just waking up to barks
at like 6:00 a.m. now. It's driving me
nuts. But, she's a sweetheart. She
doesn't like strangers, though. Will you
cover The Testament? I would love for
you guys to cover it. Uh, so the
Testament is the um the movie or the the
Hulu series that's set in the world of
The Handmaid's Tale. I've seen some
clips of it. It's too dark, honestly.
It's too dark. It's too depressing for
me to cover it. I I can't I can't watch
that show right now. I'm sorry. It's
just too scary. It's too dystopian for
me. I hope you like it. Um but The
Handmaid's Tale just started to get too
like I can't watch this. Um it's for
whatever reason just too dark for me.
Um did you find out why Dr. Doom had to
be Robert Downey Jr.? I did not that
that question is not answered in any of
the footage I've seen and it hasn't been
answered in any interview other than
like all the people saying we really
like Robert Downey Jr. and Downey saying
I really wanted this challenging part
after playing Lewis Strauss in
Oppenheimer. Um I think they just wanted
him because they he's a big star. He
means a lot to Marvel fans. They wanted
to show that he can play multiple
characters. I still think it's the new
mask, same task phrasing really needs to
be answered there.
Um, all right. Here's what we're going
to do now. Uh, I made this promise to
people who um who saw this on Twitter
and were tagging me in this. Uh there's
a a YouTube channel called Yellow
Minutes, I believe, who um made an AI
version of the Doomsday trailer based
off of like descriptions that they must
have gotten from new rock stars and
other media outlets who were in the
room. And I know they must have derived
it from us because like in my
description, I worded things in what I
now realize was kind of a confusing way.
And they just like took that confusion
and ran with it like it was fact. And
I'm like, "Oh, no, no, no, no. I wish
you had asked me. I I could have helped
you like a police sketch artist kind of
get something more accurate here. So, um
yeah, I I think the person who created
this is not trying to hide the fact that
this is AI. It's like over 3 minutes
long, so already we know it's
I'm just going to take this bit by bit
and we're kind of la we're going to
laugh at it uh together and I and I want
to like clear the record on like what in
this is actually accurate to what I saw
and what what of it is completely
ridiculous and and AI hallucinatory
because like while you think it's kind
of disgusting to even acknowledge the
existence of AI generated stuff. Uh
there's like way more of you out there
who are legitimately confused and misled
by things like this. And I think it's
important for us who um who cover this
stuff to like set the record straight uh
to try to dispel the misinformation.
Um okay, so I have it up here. Let's
Okay, this is accurate. This is from the
Avengers Doomsday third teaser, the
X-Men teaser released in December. Uh it
is how the trailer begins. Uh you do see
that shot. Um this shot is AI generated
and it's not real. This is not accurate
at all. This is not what you see. I I'm
telling you, I did not see this. This
shot of a red globe in the sky or a
burning treeine. You don't see that.
Also, can we talk about how the angle of
this would have been someone weirdly
hovering 12 ft over the seats on the
floor of the Dolby Cinema. There's no
opera box off the side where you would
get this angle without someone with a
green laser pointer shining the hell out
of you and then leaping across eight
people to tackle you and steal and break
your phone. would not have happened. Um,
you don't see Patrick Stewart in this
angle at all. This is not accurate. You
do see a shot of him doing like this as
he looks out the window, but this
[laughter]
the shot of him wincing is not this is
not real. This does not happen. Um,
okay. This is this shot of Doom kind of
doing a superhero landing in some
outdoor location. Kind of accurate. It's
just the angle's a bit different and you
don't see him from this far away. He it
doesn't look this skinny.
Uh hold on. Yeah. And then uh you they
don't have any of the audio that I
talked about. Notice how when you watch
this, you don't hear the something we
may not be able to deter. You don't hear
it here. So that's another indication.
Um this person's doing their best to to
de to illustrate the Avengers tower as I
described it. No. If you watch
[laughter] look at this three forked
top. No, that's not what it looks like.
And also, that's not where um the Metife
building is in relation to the Empire
State Building in New York City. It's
also not a nighttime shot. Uh it looks a
lot more like the building as we saw in
the Daredevil Born Again uh uh
establishing shot of episode 7. Uh this
logo is correct, but it's way bigger.
And there's like a imagine a giant like
lobster claw, you know, like one that
Punisher or or Bullseye would throw.
Imagine that. But a skinny skinny
lobster claw. Um, that's kind of like
what it is. There's like a separate
thing here. That's kind of an
unnecessary building silhouette thing. I
don't know why they designed it that
way. Uh, this shot at least like clearly
what this person did is they fed some AI
generator the um the leaked uh costume
designs of these characters because
yeah, Reed Richards does have a white
bomber jacket. Um, they all have new
jackets except Ben Grim. They didn't let
Ben Grim have a new jacket. Um, and that
is kind of how Thor looks in it, but
they aren't walking through like the
Fortress of Solitude like this. They're
walking through like the portal of a of
the Fantastic 4 spaceship, and they're
all kind of in a single file line like
Tuscan Raiders. Um, this shot is uh
wrong. It doesn't look like this. You
don't see them clumped together like
this. I I Sam doesn't have a suit like
that. Um,
but clearly this is much longer scene.
It's like literally two shots that we
see and it takes up maybe four or 5
seconds if I remember correctly. Um,
this like lives in it and gives like
individual shots of all the characters.
The sky is not that color of red. It's
just kind of like a red orange kind of
color that filters the light in a
specific way. They took this shot from
the Thunderbolts postredit scene and
kind of told the AI animator to make
something out of it. Um, this is clearly
just taking my description of three
circles. But that's how I know that they
took my video because like in the first
video I did, I said that there were
three circles, but our editors were
working so hard to try to illustrate it
based off of my description. And I for a
later follow-up video we did, I kind of
had to draw my own diagram of showing
how it's like like almost a triangular
pattern of the circles that are
connected by lines in the circle uh or
in the middle. So, this is just like
them doing their own fanfictiony version
of it. This is not how it looks. It
doesn't I don't remember seeing
incursion of it. We don't see a close-up
of the screen at all. And a lot of you
guys are like, "Hey, the person who made
this knew that they weren't they were
doing an AI version. They were trying to
do an imaginary fan edit of it." But I
have to just make it very clear that
this this is not how the Doomsday
trailer looks. It doesn't like live in
these moments that much. I also got to
notice AI forgets how to spell things
like multiversal because it's not a real
word. So it doesn't have a dictionary to
spell something like uh multiversal.
Um yeah, if anything, it's kind of like
this, but it's not like that screen is
against the window and you don't have
Falcon there in that angle. You never
see Captain America's shield in the
trailer, so wrong. You don't see shots
like this. You don't see Thor looking
out the window like that. You don't see
Neymar jumping out of the water. You
don't see I I described it like the Red
Sea parting, but you don't actually see
the Red Sea parting like it's the
freaking prince of Egypt. You just see a
wall of water in a circle around like a
desert floor. Uh but they worked way
harder. These this acres of forest
burning AI engine did to try to to
illustrate this. No, that's not what it
looks like. This shot they just pulled
from the fourth teaser. You do kind of
see Shi in that angle, but she's not
walking between the partings of the Red
Sea. She's walking toward just a wall of
water in the distance. And the pyramid
of Talakhan is some in a different shot.
Um I mean there is something impressive
about I guess some some fan using AI to
do all this in that like they're trying
to reimagine what's out there based off
of descriptions. I don't think it's that
impressive to just feed into an AI
generator and poop it out and confuse
people. I think it's kind of annoying
that that's a thing now. But I can laugh
at it just because I think we are seeing
the AI bubble bursting. We are seeing
the plateau. As like effective as some
of these displays are, we could just see
the slop. And just because the slop is
getting more detailed doesn't change the
reality that it's sloped to all of us.
And it's just kind of laughable that
Sora and Nano Banana and these other
things haven't figured out a way to do
it better despite their promises that
we'd be light years beyond where we are
right now. I think AI has plateaued. I
think there are major risks of AI and
and the specifically some of the jobs it
could it could change forever. Um but I
think it's the fears are mostly out of
people like Sam Alman just over
speculating their abilities to do
things. And I think when it comes this
is just going to be increasingly
derivative. The only reason they were
able to make this is based off of like
the derivative nature of the MCU as it
is already and how it repurposes certain
locations and certain production designs
from past things. Um, if you were to try
to do this with like Digger, the Digger
trailer based off of our descriptions,
no freaking way you'd be able to do that
cuz Initu has done something completely
original and weird and new. It's not
completely original. It's based off of a
source material, but like the production
design is like nothing I've seen before.
And as long as we still have great
production designers and filmmakers, I'm
not too worried about that. And we've
also had four teasers of this already
out. So, they're clearly using a lot of
that. Uh, we don't see them walking off
of Chichinita like this. Um, you don't
see the hand shaking. Um, Shi is not in
a library like this. And he doesn't have
a staff. He uses his 10 rings. You know,
the 10 rings that Shani is known for
having that are not on his wrist here.
Um, they don't fight with bow staffs in
this. They're not in a big like
Beauty and the Beast Westwing library
here. Why are Mystique and Elena
fighting in a classroom that looks like
it's from The Amazing Spider-Man?
There's no classroom in the X-Mansion
that looks like this with desks like
that. Um, yeah, the forest that Doom and
Thor are fighting in here kind of looks
like they used the forest from the
second teaser. That's not where they
fight in the trailer. whether it's in
some other outdoor location that I'm
having trouble specifying. You don't
have this many shots of all these
characters fighting that like this.
We're talking short quick shots. So, no,
that's not accurate. That's not how it
looks. She doesn't shapeshift in the
same shot with Yolena in the background.
In fact, it's just Mystique turning into
Yolena after she catches Vaton. And then
a different shot shows Yolena ducking
under Reed Richard's outstretched arm.
And then you see, oh, there's two
Yolena's fighting. This shot they just
took from the Thunderbolts postredit
scene. I know that's the exact frame of
Florence Pew from that final shot of the
post-redit scene. Oh, here are his 10
rings. About time. It's not how it
looks. They don't fight in this. Like,
this looks like my high school alma
mater, Paxton's um uh classroom in
Jacksonville, Florida on Commonwealth.
And this is where I took a a health
class from PE.
No, that's not how it looks. You don't
see this many cards. You see one card.
You don't see Franklin in the trailer.
That doesn't happen. Uh it doesn't look
like Scott is kissing Cassy's forehead
in front of the the quantum tunnel. Um
you don't see [laughter] you don't see
Cyclops Kim Kardashian behind a corner
like that. Uh that doesn't happen. You
don't see Reed in the cockpit of a ship
like that. I don't know why they just
didn't use the shot that was from the
third teaser. Um, they are not sitting
in like a diner booth like this. You
could just use the shot in the third
teaser to recreate that. Again, they're
not fighting in that kind of forest like
that. I think they're trying to make
like a latian forest, but that's not
where that fight happens. You don't have
this many shots of Doom and Thor.
[laughter] It's just funny to live in
this because it's not You don't have
Thor stroking his beard like this. Um,
you see him walking up with both
Stormbreaker and Muolnir and then
Mujolnir leaves his hand and goes into
the hand of Steve Rogers. But look how
much this trailer lives in it. That Reed
would be in the cockpit. You don't even
know if they're on a spaceship when
you're watching the shot. Um, but there
is Johnny Storm in the background. It
doesn't slowly freaking
2001 of Space Odyssey pen uh towards his
hand. It zips to his hand like it does
in Endgame. And it's not I don't
remember it being fractured like it is
in uh Love and Thunder. Now, this is
kind of how Steve Rogers looks, but it's
a different angle to Steve. And uh they
just got this from the leaked concept
art from January for the character's
costume. So, that's how they know. Okay.
So, that's that's kind of in a nutshell.
Um what's wrong with this? I have some
of my other assets here. Hold on. I want
to show you guys. Okay. So, let's answer
some questions. It's been a while since
I've
um
Yeah, it's just kind of ridiculous.
What's your guess? Uh sorry.
Uh question here. Which Btier Avengers
actor is your favorite performer outside
of the MCU? I like Katherine Newton and
Florence Pew. I wouldn't consider
Florence Pew to be beer Btier. Um, I
guess are you saying the actors are
Btier because Florence Pew is is A-list.
Katherine Newton might be belist. Um,
but I would say um I like Zack Cherry.
He's great. Uh, Jacob Batalon, love him.
Uh, Winston Duke, I guess he might be
A-list at this point.
Um, like half of the actors in Hollywood
are in the MCU. So, but I uh yeah, I
think Florence Pew is awesome. I just
think she's A-list.
A question here. I think just kind of a
another Marvel question. If Earth 616
Wanda died after dream walking, what
happens to the variant Wanda chose uh
whose body carried out the killings?
Could she face consequences or
accountability for the Illuminati's
deaths in future MCU stories? This was a
pitch that I had after Multiverse of
Madness came out that uh that Wanda like
the Wanda of that universe is still
alive and if if there is a Professor X
in that universe that there would be uh
a James Howlet that there would be a
Scott Summers there would be a Gene Gray
there would be an Aurora Monroe who
would hold her accountable. Um I mean
Reed Richards had a wife and kids so
that would imply a Susan, a Franklin and
a Valyriia. all those people had loved
ones who like would hold her accountable
and that that could set up a really
interesting sequel, like a really fun
Scarlet Witch story. Um, I think it's
still there. I I don't know why Marvel
hasn't It seems like Elizabeth Olsen
would be interested.
Very good question.
Shri saying skinny lobster claw is what
they called me back in college. Why
Uber coup? No, it doesn't look real. I'm
sorry. That doomsday. If you think that
looks real, we have failed. We have
failed. I'm worried about the state of
the world. If you guys couldn't see this
as slot because looking real as a
specific frame is not enough. Judging a
three and a half minute video in its
full context is where these battles have
to be fought. And has any movie trailer
lived that long in moments like that? I
like I I think what it is is like these
are fan-made things that due to the
acceleration of AI are able to make
things that have the correct texture and
look to it, but like is the the editing
of it the way any trailer is ever
edited? Um, that's what makes it silly.
Yep. Slap, slap, slap.
Oh, Wong, I think you were talking about
that forest as it looking kind of like
the Skovian forest.
Maybe that's where Thor is when he's
praying to Odin. I think that's what
they use that u they use that setting.
Sincerely, BBX saying 10 cards, 10
rings, I guess.
Um, yeah, a lot of people thinking it's
impossible that Satie Sync is playing
Gan Gray. I'm like 90% certain she's
playing Gan Gray, but sure, maybe maybe
it's Firest Star. It's just her in that
trailer, her power set didn't look
anything like Firestar.
Um, did the CGI look finished in the
trailer? Um, in the two times I saw it,
it looked good. It I mean, yeah, I think
from what I could tell, the CGI all
looked really, really good. It's a lot
of assets of like Stormbreaker emitting
lightning that we've kind of seen
before. Um, but like the way it
interacts with Dr. Doom I thought looked
really cool. Um, more of like the the
creativity of the fighting between
Yolena and Mystique I thought was really
fun. Like I think that's going to be a
really fun fight sequence. Um, Shani and
Gambit fighting was just really inspired
in a way that like I never would have
thought would be that interesting to
see.
Um, but I don't know, maybe they are. I
I often the first two times I see a
trailer, I'm so overwhelmed by just all
of it. I'm not really doing what I
normally do on YouTube and and going
frame by frame to like look at how well
the animation or the VFX was rendered.
So, I don't think if anybody said the
VFX didn't look good uh from the
Doomsday trailer that they showed in Las
Vegas, they're full of it. There's no
way you could get a sense of whether the
VFX unless it looked really bad, unless
like character design was bad. But
Mystique looked awesome. And it's just
because they were using the kind of VFX
um design for the way Mystique's she
kind of has this textured scales and the
way she shapeshifts that has been
unrivaled by any of the shape-shifting
of like the scrolls or anything like
that. Uh Ryan Cougler in your anomorph
show take note from that. Use the
animals texture whether it's fur,
feathers, fish scales, whatever it is to
um inspire the texture of the
shape-shifting. Make it gross and not
pretty the way that Ka Applegate wrote
it to be in the Anamorph's books.
Shapeshifting should be kind of
disgusting and gross.
Um, hello from the Holy Land. I just
really hope my country doesn't go
extreme again and close down movie
theaters. Okay. Uh, stay safe.
Um, okay. Yeah. Uh, I guess someone
saying the VFX didn't look great. I want
to know who said that and how they could
gauge that from like a screaming room
full of film exhibitors even seeing it
twice. I I I don't know. I I I remember
it being good. I remember it being like
this is exactly what I would want to
see. I It's like an Avengers Endgame
trailer if they showed you some of the
some of the time heist scenes from
Endgame. If they showed you the Steve
versus Steve fight from Endgame. Um you
know, I I I thought it looked pretty
good.
Um,
so, uh, oh, let's see.
Yeah, okay. I like those guys from
Escape Pod. I met one of them. I I don't
know how he could have that opinion. Um,
I'd love to go on his show and debate
him on how he could have that opinion
based off of one scene. I don't think it
looked bad. The one thing that looked a
little goofy was Gambit. Gambit looked
goofy, but he looked exactly as he did
in Deadpool and Wolverine. It was more
of a costume thing, but like Goofy, he
looked like a liveaction version of the
Gambit from the X-Men animated series.
So, in that sense, that's exactly what
we want Gambit to look like. So, but it
was just his costume because it was in
the void and he was kind of conceived to
be like a walking cartoon who was born
in the void. It's a little weird to see
him in the X mansion. Um, but I honestly
think like they're they're aiming for
for liveaction versions of the animated
series. So, Cyclops's suit looks like
what we want Cyclops to look like. Um,
Beast in the Marvel's postredit scene is
not in the trailer, but like imagine
that. Extrapolate that to how all the
other X-Men will look. So, I don't
really have a that big of a problem with
how Gambit looked. Um, but I will say
there is like kind of a not uncanny
valley. It's just kind of like, oh, this
isn't
like as gritty and textured as as some
of the other phase 2 MCU characters
looked, but it's how I want. It's what I
want, and I think it's what we're all
going to want.
Um, and if people say it looks like
cosplay, it's like, well, I just think
that's a compliment to cosplayers. Now,
have you been to some of these
conventions? Cosplayers look awesome.
Um, I I I just think like if it looks
like it could be DIY enough, I just
think that's going to be the case. Like
if you go to Disneyland right now and
see Spider-Man, you're not going to be
that blown away. Um, because like we've
seen a lot of great cosplayers as
Spider-Man. I I guess I'm I don't have
as cultured of an opinion on that kind
of thing. The first time I'm seeing a
trailer, I'm just not interested in
that. Um, yeah. I I I also just know
that movies are kind of made up and I
was a theater kid and I'm and I got used
to like enjoying plays where you can see
the paint still drying on the flats. So
I I I'm usually not as critical on the
VFX when I'm seeing a trailer.
Um Arcani saying, "Are you when are you
covering the House of the Dragon
trailer?" We're not going to break down
that new trailer. We're going to do a
big video that catches you up on
everything you need to know in June
before the new season comes out, but I'm
not going to break down every trailer
for House of the Dragon. It's just too
hard. We broke down the first one. It's
too hard to talk about this upcoming
season when we know everything that's
going to happen. Um because a trailer
breakdown is speculative by nature and I
don't want to just it's it would be like
three minutes of like just saying, "Ooh,
cool. Dragon looks big. Fire. Whoa." And
then spoiler dungeon. Let's talk about
what each episode's going to be. It's
It's more fun to wait till those
episodes come out if it's a book
adaptation. Um, it's why we didn't do a
lot of trailer breakdowns for Project
Hail Mary. I wanted to read the book and
then after the movie comes out, then we
can kind of like get into the
nitty-gritty of it. But what are you
going to do with theories about when
Rocky's going to appear 17 minutes in or
45 minutes in, you know?
Um, psycho sweetheart YT said, "The
Russos don't seem like the type to drop
an anticipated trailer on a random day.
So maybe the Avengers release
anniversary on May 2nd." Well, oh, contr
they have dropped stuff on random days
before. The Avengers Endgame teaser in
December of 2018 was just like a random
weekday for I think it was like a random
Thursday. Um, the Avengers Infinity War
first teaser came out the Wednesday
after thing. I think it was like
November 30th, 2017, and it was like a
Wednesday after um
after Thanksgiving. It they do drop
their trailers on random weekdays. Uh,
their Captain America: Civil War trailer
came out on the Wednesday before
Thanksgiving in 2015. Um, yeah. And and
they don't always decide. It's the
studio. It's someone at Disney who
decides when to drop these things. So,
uh, they might consult on it, but
there's a lot of other marketing people
who who come together to make that
decision.
Is Wasp ever coming back? Uh, not after
Evangelene Lily's video this week. I
don't think she wants to. I think she
kind of said she's retired from playing
Hope Vany in the MCU.
U, what's a fight matchup you'd like to
see that we may or may not expect? Talk
about in Doomsday. Um
h
I want to see I want to see Red Guardian
and Beast fight. I don't know why. I
just want to see those two tumble.
Oh, hi. I had an early message, but it
won't let me super it. Well, I'll keep
an eye out for your name, and you don't
have to super the next one. I'll just
read it.
Um,
Alex asking, "Odds the trailers before
Grou?" Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. I'm
hoping they put that in theaters before
The Mandalorian Grou, but they should
just drop it on YouTube.
Um,
uh, I saw that rumor, too, but I just
think they're they're different
audiences. Uh, I don't think that they
would try to market that movie before
The Devil's Prada.
Scott Brown saying, "The reason they
they know they can wait on the trailers
because they know Spider-Man is going to
be huge and the very last thing you'll
see in the theater, Spider-Man will
return in Avengers Doomsday."
I don't think that's part of the
calculus for Disney because Spider-Man
branded day is a Sony release. So all
the marketing for it is governed by
Sony. Disney and Sony are just on
completely different decision-making
processes. So I just I I don't think
that's why uh and I also don't think
Spider-Man's going to be in Avengers
Doomsday. I I think he might be in
Avengers Secret Wars, but I just like I
I don't know how it's going to fit in. I
don't know how Peter Parker will fit in
with Doomsday based off of what I've
seen from Doomsday.
I think the one takeaway from the
marketing is um like the Russos really
feel like the movie they have already
the mo they wanted to show us in 2
minutes a movie that was so big that it
doesn't need any other character of the
MCU to be in it. Sure, Doctor Strange
could be in there or Spider-Man can show
up late in it, but I'm telling you, this
movie looks big enough just with the
people who are on the tote bag that that
is like a billion and a half to a two
billion dollar movie on its own. Uh you
I feel like we're not going to miss the
Guardians of the Galaxy in it. Avengers:
Infinity War made as much money as it
did and it didn't have Ant-Man or or
Hawkeye in it. Um so I think they feel
like they can sideline some characters.
There's there's a cool enough plot at
play with the Fantastic 4 and the X-Men
and the Wakandons.
I want to read Red Guardian versus Steve
Rogers Captain America. Yeah, I think
that will be a fun uh fun interesting
conversation when it happens.
Oh, Steve Rogers, I am you, but from
Russia.
Yes, you taught me everything through
your videos. And Steve Rogers is going
to be like, I don't think about you at
all. He goes, but we are friends. We are
connected. Look, I have shield. You have
shield. Can we be brothers? And Steve
Rogers is like, um, I have to I have to
catch up with Bucky. Excuse me.
Heather, you might be on to something. I
think Marvel realized they can get free
marketing by having us all talk about
the lack of marketing.
Maybe that maybe that's part of their
their 40 chess.
Um,
question here. Why do you think there's
so little Loki? I think because like the
visuals of Loki might be so spoilery and
might require so much VFX that putting
that in the trailer, the VFX might look
a little unfinished there and it might
spoil too much about what Dr. Doom is
doing. I think they really wanted to be
limited what of Dr. Doom they put in the
trailer. And I think if they show what
Dr. Doom is doing with Loki, that would
spoil too much of the plot. I think
that's why we didn't see Loki in the
trailer. And you got to save something
for the second trailer. I think the
second trailer is going to have the
Nightcrawler Beast uh Fantastic 4 fight,
but second trailer I'm talking about
something that will be in like in it'll
be in October. Um I don't think Tobey
Magcguire is going to be in the movie.
Yeah. No. Uh okay. I just disagree with
anyone who said that Steve Rogers wig
looked real bad. It didn't. Uh it looks
fine. It looked like his I don't even
think it was his wig. I I think that's
Chris Evans natural hair and Thor's
lightning looked bad. No, it looks as it
always does. It looks cool. The lighting
of it reflecting off of Doom's mask
looked cool. You guys are nuts. They are
crazy.
Um low. I don't think Captain Hydra It's
just too many steps removed. I'm telling
you, they have they have other bigger
fish to fry in this movie. It's not like
It's interesting. I believe it was
either Lewis Pullman or David Harbor who
said that the movie's not a cameo fest.
And despite the fact that it has all
these X-Men and Fantastic 4 in it, all
these people seem to be playing an
important part in the plot. Uh it
doesn't feel like a kind of movie where
like random people are going to show up
throughout the movie. The Russo brothers
don't like to do that, right? Like what
was the biggest cameo they had in
Endgame? Howard the Duck shows up,
right? uh Captain Marvel shows up, but
we knew she was going to be in the
movie. So, it's not like the other big
cameo was like, "Oh, we got to see a
second Steve Rogers." But that's not so
much a cameo. It's just like the way it
plays out. They don't put like they
didn't put a Nova cameo in Endgame,
right? They put a Blue Man Group cameo
in Infinity War. So, they don't they
like to tell, you know, huge cast, huge
ensemble stories are not cameo fests.
So, I'm not expecting like random Marvel
character cameos like you would see in
episodes of What If, for example.
Uh, a question I think like how does
Thor know about Doom? I think the movie
will just answer that question when Doom
kidnaps Thor's daughter Love or there's
just like a bigger threat that Doom is
posing and and Thor fights him early on
in the movie and then gets defeated and
that scares him. but he hasn't been like
I I think Dr. Doom is gonna be kind of a
stranger to everybody in the movie when
this all starts.
Um I'm under an NDA and as is Berg um on
whether Berg will appear in Doomsday. Um
I can't confirm or deny.
Yeah. Okay. So Brave King gave a good
example, a Red Skull cameo in Infinity
War. Great. Okay. Now, the thing about
that cameo was it was a character from
Captain America's own history. It was
like a returning character who we had
seen in the MCU before that was
connected to an Infinity Stone based off
of what he had to do with the Tesseract
Act. It wasn't some character that we've
never seen before who is now introduced
in this movie. The Rooster brothers
don't like to do that as much.
No, R.J. is not real. It's not real.
Okay. So, Dr. Dream's relationship with
Sentry. An interesting question. Um, we
don't see there's one shot of the big
group in the Avengers Tower penthouse
where you see Sentry on the side wearing
his like, you know, his slacker socks
and sandals. Um, but you don't see him
coming in close-up. You don't see him in
his Sentry suit. Um, but he's going to
be important to this movie. I think he's
his power of the void Doom will use in
some way. Um, I think it will be helpful
for Doom to construct Battle World.
Maybe he uses Sentry as kind of a
conduit when he's absorbing the power
from Loki.
Sentry is going to be important to Doom.
I I there it's just too open-ended right
now for me to make any firm theories.
Um, yeah. I I mean, I think we can tell
from some theories and concept art that
like Dr. Doom, if you follow the
Jonathan Hickman storyline, will become
Doctor Doom's uh Doctor Strange will
become Doctor Doom's sheriff of Battle
World. So, I think we're going to see uh
Doctor Strange team up with him.
Okay, so the real trailer is about 2
minutes long. It's maybe a little over
two minutes, maybe a little under, but
it's like in that two-minute range. It's
not three and a half.
Yeah. Oh, like the trailer was real.
Okay. I I don't think he's wearing a
wig.
Yes, I do think the trailer we saw they
should just release it online.
Um [sighs]
question. Couldn't Steve use the vials
as an insurance policy? Trying to figure
out what you mean by that. Like
as a backup, you're saying in case he
needs to travel back into the future.
Maybe that is how he got back to uh to
Thor in the present. Does he just needed
a backup in case he ever needed to get
to the present? I just think he that's
he wouldn't do that unless like his
family was threatened in the past.
What is the reason you think Shani is
fighting Gambit? So, good question. Why
are these characters fighting each other
when clearly Doom is the shared threat?
Um, I my theory is that uh we're going
to see some characters in the expansion
early and then a different group will go
back to the expansion and the one005
universe and that they're going to have
to get down to Cerebro and that the
surviving X-Men there are going to feel
defensive of like we don't know who you
are. We don't want you to get into our
Cerebro and they're going to be like
trust us you need us to do that and
Nightcrawler and Beast and Gambit are
going to be like uh over our dead
bodies. and they're just gonna fight,
but it's gonna be kind of a scuffle
because they feel like these are
invaders from another universe who are
trying to kill them. So, I don't think
it'll be like a fight to the death. I
just think it's going to be kind of like
what the forest fight in the 2012
Avengers is, is like these kind of big
egos are are are knocking heads and
they're like, "No, we need to get to
Cerebro. Just trust us, bro." And then
Beast is going to be like, "No."
Uh, do you think Doom's mother, Cynthia,
will be in the flashback? Yeah, Cynthia
Doom is Doom's mother. Uh, has an
interesting relationship with Meto.
Actually, Doom ends up playing an
interesting kind of like mental chess
game with Meisto over Cynthia where he
does this kind of triple quadruple fake
of like lets Cynthia see her son in hell
with her and she feels bad that her son
committed enough sins to end up in hell.
And because she feels that guilt, that's
what kind of releases her from hell
because she's a good soul to feel that
way. And so Doom did it all on purpose.
It's kind of a there's an interesting
story. I really hope that we do get a
reference to his mother or maybe Doom
has a daughter that he named Cynthia
after a mother um that we don't even
need to get fully into in this movie,
but I do think the movie's opening scene
will be in the Doomstat armor room. Um,
and maybe we can get a reference to a
late mother, um, or a daughter of some
kind, but we don't need to dwell on it.
Um, I don't know if Victor von Doom will
be friends with Reed Richards in this
movie, but I that's why I hope that like
after Secret Wars, we can recast Dr.
Doom and as someone who can kind of just
live in the universe with the Fantastic
4 as a different Reed Richards, but I
just or a different Victor von Doom. I
just we're years away from that and we
still have to wait for Doomsday and then
Secret Wars to come out.
So Chris thinking that Steve settled in
Earth 828.
I really like that theory. I'm kind of
putting together a a theory video about
that. Maybe that's where Steve ended up.
I I think that would solve a lot of
problems if Steve was just in that
universe in in the history of that
because then we could say like, oh, he
he was in um it was like the early 50s
when he had a kid and then another
decade went by, maybe a decade and a
half and now he's in 1969 of that
universe. That's why his hair is a bit
longer. and then whatever happened in
the 828 universe, it got affected by an
incursion and he leaves with the
Fantastic 4 to join up with the other
Avengers that way. Um, I like the idea.
I really, really do like that theory.
So, that's why I'm kind of stewing on
that.
Thanks for your donation, Arani.
Um, where do you think Dr. Doom was
during the Fantastic 4 first steps?
Yeah, Drew, great question. I uh I
really I really really don't know the
the empty Latverian delegation chair of
the future foundation. I really thought
Matt Shackman would answer in some
interviews that came out after the
movie. Um I think at this point after
seeing the doomsday trailer the simpler
they we would have gotten another
explanation at this point if Dr. Doom
came from another reality. So I think
the fact that Matt Shackman never
answered that question firmly and Kevin
Feige never answered that question
firmly. I think they're going to say
okay well Dr. doom came from the 828
reality. Um, and
uh, and I think he uh, when when we see
things at the UN and there's empty seats
historically in our universe, it means
that that country is at kind of odds
with whatever the overall objective of
the peacekeeping international
organization is. So it would show that
Vira are being stinkers and they don't
want to enter in these global peace
talks and they want to have their own
private army uh and have their own
technology that they don't have to share
with Reed Richards. They don't want Reed
Tech running their public transportation
in the streets of Latvia that Victor von
Doom or whoever is the leader of that
point. Um or maybe there's just some
civil strife that's happening in
happening in Latvia. Maybe whoever the
the delegate who did say he was going to
be there enough for them to set up the
seat with the flag that person got
deposed in some kind of civil war or or
a coup d'eta and then now Victor von
Doom overtook the doomstat
um and that's why they weren't there uh
is that there was just some like there
was some local
disturbance of the peace in Latvia.
Um, no. I don't think any of the
Guardians of the Galaxy are going to be
in Doomsday. I I I just I don't think
the Russo brothers are that interested
in using these characters as James Gun
left them in in that movie. We did get a
promise that the legendary Star-Lord
will return. I think they'll return
maybe in Secret Wars, but just looking
at this movie, Doomsday, I just don't
see like Infinity War, there was room
for the Guardians of the Galaxy, right?
because Thanos was in Guardians of the
Galaxy, so it would make sense that they
would be there, too. Um, they were in
the first teaser when they were talking
to Thor. Looking at this trailer, I
don't know how you have room for the
Guardians of the Galaxy in the movie.
Thank you, Tony. How thick is Robert
Downey Jr.'s accent? Not as thick of a
Romanian accent that I did in our
trailer video. What I did was kind of
like
something's coming, something we may not
be able to deter.
Uh, before this day is finished, we will
be faced with an unthinkable decision.
That's not what Robert Downey Jr. sounds
like. He's like maybe 45% of that. Um,
funny you should ask because let's take
a look at something here.
H
a lot of people were trains coming
through.
A lot of people were asking about this
clip when Robert Downey Jr. was doing uh
Emily Blunt's Hollywood Walk of Fame
star. [laughter]
>> For you see,
I've always been the caretaker.
Uh, let's put some shine on our girl.
>> Uh, he goes, "I've always been the
caretaker." I think what Downey was
doing there was just referencing the
shining, you know, Mr. Torrance, you've
always been the caretaker of Grady in
the bathroom, and he was just doing kind
of a creepy voice. I don't think he was
doing That did not sound like what I
heard in the Doomsday trailer. I'll just
say that to kind of put that to bed.
[snorts]
Alex saying, "Don't recast Doom right
after he's the biggest bad you've ever
had in two Avengers movies. That's just
not how it works." Well, I'm not saying
it's going to be right after. Um I I
just think that at some point in the
future, maybe three or four years later,
you could have a different Victor von
Doom in some new universe that's after
the events of Secret Wars because we're
going to see a new Tachala. I think if
we have a new Tala and a new Tony Stark,
uh maybe even a new Yolena Bova, a new
Wolverine, having a new Victor von Doom,
uh is not going to be as controversial
as a new Tony Stark or a new Tala. You
know, I think you can recast a lot of
characters during the mutant saga of the
2030s.
I just did. And I don't think I did a
very good job because I'm not like that
good of a of a accent guy or an
impersonator. I've just listened to
videos of people speaking with a
Romanian accent. I'm like, that's kind
of what it sounded like. Fancastic
Fantastic 4 first steps Doom. I don't
know what you're asking there. I think
that was just Tony Stark or that was
Robert Downey Jr. playing that Doom.
MF Doom will return in Avengers
Doomsday. No, but he will be in Beyond
the Spider-Verse.
That was a fun Easter egg to see. GSU
Eagle saying, "If Loki now oversees all
of the timelines, how is this version of
Doom allowed? Or was he a result of the
Kangs being set loose on the
multiverse?" This is kind of a big
question going into Doomsday is how much
they're going to address what was the
multiverse logic from the Loki series. I
I do think if it's going to be Tom
Hiddston's Loki, where the Loki series
left him, there will be some line that
kind of references that like there were
other past conquerors of the multiverse
and that the rise of Doom meant that
they all destroyed each other or he
destroyed them. Um, so I don't think he
was allowed. I think he seized power and
he will seize power in this movie using
uh by by by killing Loki by taking
Loki's power by using his magic and and
his sorcery and his science.
How many deaths do you think will happen
in Doomsday? I think of the 26 actors
who were on the tote bag, I think 10 of
them, at least 10 of them will die.
How many kids is Doom taking? At least
four, right? Steve Rogers kid, Thor's
daughter, Tala Jr., maybe Scott Summer's
kid.
Um, yeah, it's going to be the little
kids. [snorts]
Why would you say Romanian and not
another country that's still close to
Romania? Because Latvia is a fictional
country. I I don't know. Uh, do you mean
countries like Hungarian or Albanian?
Cuz it sounds more like Romanian to
Hungarian to me. But Latvian, yes, it is
obviously a Latinian accent. Just Latvia
doesn't exist in our world. Um, it kind
of sounds like honestly if you watch
animated versions of Dr. Doom and that
kind of Eastern European accent that he
does there, that's kind of what Robert
Downey Jr. is doing. It's nothing that
surprising. I get why people are
fascinated by this. I think when you
hear it, it's just going to be natural.
Like everyone who was there in in
Cineacon who saw it like no one was
questioning that voice like oh my god it
was like oh yeah no that's that's how I
would imagine Dr. Doom to sound.
Do you think Sebastian Stan helped him
with the accent? Yeah. Uh that'd be fun.
Sebastian Stan was like uh Romanian. I
think they have other accent experts but
I can imagine it's Have you seen videos
of Sebastian Stan speaking that
language? It's it's kind of insane to
hear but it's just so natural when you
see him do it.
I love Sebastian Stan,
Mobius, uh, Owen Wilson, and Doomsday. I
think we would have heard it. I think if
they're announcing characters like Atuma
and Namora,
um, yeah, I think it's more likely that
we get B15.
Um, because she was in Deadpool
Wolverine.
Um, I'm going to leave it there for this
uh office hours. You know, I said you
guys could ask me anything. I get why
you just wanted to ask about Doomsday.
That's the thumbnail of the video. But,
um, okay. Uh, you've been asking this a
lot. Are you going to cover any indie
shows? What do you mean by indie shows?
Can you give a better example of indie
shows? like shows on like other
streaming platforms or shows that are
not connected to major studios.
Um I don't know what you mean by that.
Um but probably not. We We're a big
fandom channel. We cover major IP on
this channel. We're not like um you know
uh
a idiots like you should watch this
obscure thing. We'll we'll re we'll make
those recommendations in other podcasts
we do. But we uh in terms of like doing
a full video breakdown or review of
something, we we're covering like the
major stuff. Um Resident Evil trailer
reaction. I loved it. Uh Jessica did a
breakdown of it that's on the channel
right now. You should watch it.
Oh, Digital Circus. I don't think any of
us any rock stars watch it, so probably
not. Um I know it's popular, but we're
probably not going to cover it. Um
because like there are other creators
that know more about that than New
Rockstars. Well, we're not going to like
fake expertise in something that we
don't watch.
Uh how long does it take to break down a
trailer or a movie? What's the process
like? I get this question a lot. Um I
think the uh it change it depends on
whether it's a trailer or a movie is
very different. So after I've seen a
movie, I'm not doing a lot of like
theorization because I've seen the
movie. I know what happens in it unless
it's setting up questions for a future
movie. Um, but with a a trailer, it's
all kind of theorization. I'm looking at
every shot and trying to figure out what
the context of it is and and doing a lot
of recap and explaining. If it's a
sequel, I'm kind of recapping what
happened in last movies or in the past.
But you asked a question to break down a
trailer or movie. All I'm doing is I'm
doing the research and writing and
hosting of it. We have a completely
different talented team that's doing all
the editing who after I shoot takes the
footage, breaks it up into pieces,
assigns it out to other freelance
editors. Those editors are all working
on those chunks at the same time
overnight in the following morning and
then send in their edited pieces back to
Josh and Abby who then kind of piece it
all back together and then do a pass
over it and then I review it and then
they'll apply some notes. But my end of
it generally if it's like a indepth uh
frame by frame analysis of something or
if it's a movie breakdown that requires
a lot of research um for every minute of
content you see I spend about an hour of
my time on it including research writing
and hosting. So for a like if it's a
movie breakdown that is 30 minutes long.
Overall I spent 30 hours of my time
watching the movie, re-watching the
movie, transcribing my notes, organizing
my notes, going through trailer shots to
find the right image of something. If
it's uh the Spider-Man brand new day
trailer that we did in March, that
breakdown that's like 40ome minutes.
Yeah, I spent 40ome hours working on
that. I did a lot of prep work based off
of the 1 to 2 second trailer um snippets
that they released the day before. I
spent that full night pulling a near
allnighter just describing what I could
see from those and then writing recap
stuff and just doing other research
based off of what I knew from
interviews. So that when the trailer hit
first thing that morning, I just spent
the rest of that day, it's probably
eight hours or so at least
um researching and writing further to
piece all of it together into that 40
minute whatever however long the page
was, page count was. Um so all in all
and then that plus hosting the video
plus reviewing the video, my time was
whatever it was probably a one minute to
one hour ratio. Um, yeah, that that
tends to be for those types of videos.
Not all videos you see. Uh, if it's like
kind of a news explainer, I can
sometimes write those faster. Um,
you know, if it's a if it's like a a
theory video, sometimes those theories
are kind of like floating around in my
head for weeks and kind of the writing
process is happening on the back burner.
So, when I actually sit down to write
it, I can just like I can just get it
all out there. Um, but yeah, for these
kind of like indepth frame by frame,
scene by scene analyses,
um, that's about as long as I as it
takes.
The sky bay.
Probably not. I I had an idea if like if
I ever moved on or if new rock stars
ceased to exist because YouTube imploded
or I don't know some some Saudi investor
bought us and then broke us up for parts
and then I we'd all have to find new
jobs. I'd be like, you know, would be
really fun just doing a breakdown of the
office dinner party episode. I would
just love to spend a week of my life
just putting together a breakdown of all
the little jokes and little details in
just that. So, if I feel that way about
The Office or for certain episodes of
Parks and Wreck or The Good Place for
VEP or for Silicon Valley, I could do
that with Seinfeld. I mean, just talking
about the nuances of Jason Alexander's
or or Julie Lou Drifus' performance, I
would love to just do that. It's
obviously crazy [snorts]
different from New Rockstars, but I used
to before I I started breaking down
Marvel movies, I used to just talk about
comedy news and I would uh write reviews
about episodes of Community for for a
different website and I would break down
SNL and I would analyze uh Saturday
Night Live sketches every week and I did
that for like five or six years. So
that's kind of like how I got into media
analysis.
Another question here, will Deadpool
actually have some connection from the
previous movie? I I don't think
Deadpool's going to be in this movie. Uh
I the more I see about Avengers
Doomsday, the less I think it's going to
be connected to Deadpool and Wolverine
other than Gambit. Um yeah,
another question. Uh check out there are
two Indian movies coming soon. They'll
be marketed globally. Ramayan Ramayana
and uh Varonasi. First one is
distributed by Warner Brothers. Thank
you for the recommendation. I will check
that out.
An actual question. How do you and the
NR team uh not get burned out from
researching the shows and movies and
interviews over the years or copying
other I don't know.
Um to answer your question, yeah,
burnout is a real thing and we do get
burnt out all the time. Um
it's like
to for this to be your job is a great
privilege and we don't take that for
granted. We we work really really hard
on what we do. Um, and just it takes a
long time to be able to do a 40minute uh
breakdown of a Spider-Man brand new day
uh in like in within two days. Um, it
does require me to be constantly
thinking about and revisiting all the
Spider-Man movies. Um, so I I'll say
that it like I have to just watch other
things that have nothing to do with like
the with any kind of Marvel or superhero
or or major fandom IP. Um, honestly
having a kid really does help me from
getting burnt out because like my
favorite thing to do is to hang out with
my wife and my son. So just like going
to the park with them or going on a walk
with them like that resets me. That's my
home base. So then when I get home, I'm
not just like constantly thinking about
Marvel stuff. Just watching Survivor
with my wife is awesome. Um going out in
the, you know, in the backyard and
kicking the soccer ball around with my
son is just like now just so wonderful
is like that's ah I can just really
disassociate from any of this work. I
think you need to have I mean for a lot
of people it's like going to the gym. Um
it's going out for a run. Um,
it's reading books that have nothing to
do with nerdy stuff. Um, so I I can't
speak for everybody at New Rockstars. I
think some people will play video games
that have nothing to do with that. Um,
watching reality TV, playing with my kid
and my wife and my dog. Um, and yeah,
that's how I not that's how I avoid
getting burnt out.
Thanks for the labor of love. Thank you,
BBX.
Um, Cody asking, "Any advice for someone
who might want to get into your line of
work?" Thanks. Love you all's content.
Been watching for years. Um, yeah, my
advice is to just like
make as much as you can. Um, Mr. Beast
has some quote where it's like you got
to make a hundred videos and each time
try to learn and apply a new lesson. And
I think that's actually pretty good
advice because like you got to make a
lot of stuff. Uh, you have to experiment
a lot. You have to hit publish a lot.
You have to get it out there. And it
doesn't have to be YouTube videos. It
can just be Tik Toks. It can be Reddit
posts. It can be Instagram reels or
whatever. But you have to make a lot of
content. And you will just get better at
it. And if it's on social media, people
will find it. Um, so I've seen a lot of
creators, I've been doing this for about
10 years, and I've seen a lot of
creators in that time go from being
someone no one had ever heard of to
someone a lot of people now follow. and
it looks like they can make their living
doing it just by kind of following that
process by by just like
posting a lot by uh like you know you
can get good at like coming up with like
your analysis of of trailers just by
being in the uh in like the replies of
Reddit like uh like whenever a new
episode of Daredevil drops there will be
that night like our live discussion and
you can just like talk about it with
people and you get good at like hitting
publish um and not being afraid of it.
And I think that's kind of how you get
the courage to just keep keep doing it.
But I'm telling you, this kind of work
like it's not a it's not for the faint
of heart. It's not for casual hobbyists.
Like it it takes a lot out of you to be
a content creator. And I wouldn't
recommend it for most people. You have
to be someone who just like loves to
keep making and publishing stuff. You
have to be broken in that particular way
to do this as a line of work. Um, it's
not easy. I think there's this illusion
for a lot of younger folks that like
being a a content creator or an
influencer is easy. Every influencer I
know who has a following who's who does
it for their does it to pay their bills,
they anytime I see them, they look
exhausted. They look so tired. You could
see that kind of like glaze over their
eyes where they look like they've slept
maybe 10 hours in the past week.
Everyone's hustling and working their
butts off and it doesn't come even
though they kind of look like once the
camera turns on they kind of light up
and it looks like it's really easy.
Everyone's tired. Everyone's hustling.
And uh it might be more advisable to
just work at your FedEx and and go home
and play with your kid. And if you can
pay your bills doing that, I would
recommend doing that. Um because like
it's not like the money is going to come
that fast.
Uh no, we are not.
We can't afford anyone else.
Um,
will lanterns go cosmic eventually?
Yeah, I I think we got a promise from
the showrunner that we'll get an episode
that talks about the uh the guardians of
OA. I can't wait for lanterns. I know
the trailer's been kind of like there's
a weird thing going on with the lanterns
trailer where it keeps being public and
then privated. Uh, but I think it's a
rights issue with the music they used in
it. Very weird stuff going on with that,
but I'm excited for that show in August.
I think it'll be pretty good.
Um, there is an Avengers theme in the
trailer. You do hear kind of a dark
version of Alan Sylvestri's Avengers
music. There's um I'm trying to remember
the the music is something like
here. I'm going to do my best to kind of
like glee club this.
It's like you hear strings going
D.
And over that you hear synth notes
going.
It actually slaps. Uh, and I just had
that in my head. I was humming it as I
was walking back to my hotel room to
record it. Uh, and I made a recording of
myself doing it. so I wouldn't forget
it. Uh, the music's pretty good. Music's
really, really good. Go to coffee order.
Um,
let's see. Cold brew. Just cold brew
black. The strongest, boldest cold brew
you have.
Oh my god.
[laughter]
[gasps]
Uh, thoughts on Supergirl.
Uh, I'm excited after the footage that I
saw. The presentation by Millie Alco and
Jason Mamoa was just weird. No one had
prepped them.
Yes, I think the trailer that I saw, if
you just drop that two-minute trailer on
YouTube, it will break the internet.
It's that crazy.
All right, we're going to leave it
there, guys. We got to I got to wrap it
up. I got other stuff I got to do. Um,
thank you for joining this uh this live
stream. This is a lot of fun. I I want
to try to do this at least once a month.
Come up on a Friday. I got maybe I got
to do a better job of like taking
questions uh setting up an email or
something where you guys can send me
questions ahead of time and then we can
uh set an appointment where I can start
to answer those questions while I take
live stream questions like this. Uh but
this was a lot of fun to be able to do
this to be able to go through that
ridiculous AI version of the trailer. No
shame against Yellow Minutes who made
it. I not crazy about the fact that you
burnt down an acre of forest to make a
three and a half minute AR AI version of
that trailer, but I also understand it's
what a lot of people are doing anyway.
And I wanted to be able to talk about it
just to say like let's do a better job
recognizing when something is AI slop
and not it's okay to watch it and just
like have an opinion about it, but don't
like share it around as if that's a
confirmation of anything, right? But you
know, one way that we can avoid that,
Marvel Studios dropped the freaking
trailer on YouTube so that like the
people who make these fake AI things
can't fool us again. Thank you so much.
A big thanks to um to Joshua Herd for uh
coming up with the thumbnail, for Brian
for setting up this whole live stream,
Brian Kim Berg being in the chat, any
other New Rockstars folks are in the
chat, all of you who have joined us uh
who have given super chats. I'm so
grateful to all of you for joining us,
for supporting new rockstars. Uh if
you'd like this new chest so blessed
shirt is available at nerdriot.shop.
It's a cool new doom inspired design
that goes directly to supporting us. Uh
we have all kinds of fun um exclusive
podcast content on our supercast at nr
underground.supcast.com.
Um I have a whole kind of like reaction
podcast I recorded about my experience
at Cineacon that will only ever live
there. Uh we'll we'll soon in the next
couple weeks put a recording of our um
live Morbius reading that we did at the
UCB theater. We'll put that recording up
on the supercast for people who support
us there. Um thanks guys and um uh go
watch Jessica's Resident Evil trailer
breakdown. It's great.
