So, what took another four flipping years? Everything. That prototype, while a decent sock, ended up having insufficient padding, the wrong material composition, subpar
breathability, got stinky, and maybe most importantly, it just plain didn't last long enough. But then, one by one, across over 20 prototypes, we ticked off all those boxes until finally, we arrived on this.

Costco. They were thick, satisfying to wear, and then every couple of years, that had holes in them. I wasn't even a huge sock snob. But then something happened. Like seemingly everything else these days, my
socks got instidified courtesy of skimpflation. number of socks in the package, but it was like there was a little pope living in my closet blessing all of my new packs of them.
That is to say, making them holy. But, then meanwhile, my older packs were still holding up pretty well. Now, to their credit, I don't think Costco ever significantly raised their prices on my socks.

Well, then, thought I, if I'm going to be spending the extra money anyway, I might as well have nicer socks that last longer, which is what led me to Darn Tough. Their merino wool blend foot cushions completely changed my world.

going to let her tell you about it. >> Hello, my name is Tatiana Devich. I'm at Creator Warehouse. I help to manage product from development to bring to market. Copper is great, essentially has been used for antibacterial and
thousands of years. It's essentially binding copper to fibers at a molecular level to create a functionalized fabric. It inhibits odor-causing bacteria. You still have to wash the socks. However, it will allow you to prolong the
freshness during use. Cheema is a third-party lab that we use in China. Wash samples. Once we specify the care instructions, we wash it for three to don't see any fuzzing, that we don't see any loose threads, as well as the
dimensional stability. So, we measure before and after wash and we calculate the percentages to ensure that it stays within plus or minus 3% cuz that is the standard that I set. Next is abrasion. So, Martindale abrasion. Essentially, it
is just rubbing for a specified amount of times. We tested for both 20 and 30,000 rubs. You'll see that there's not a lot of loose fibers. So, that is slipping on and off into the shoe, you want to make sure that you don't have a
>> that occurs while you're wearing it. These ones are color fastness. Color fastness is up against color transfer, either against another color or something that's white, or against different washing, perspiration, and
laundering instructions. So, what's funny is that you we literally have the chemical formula to make a standard sweat because sweat is all different, but it's funny that you can go into a lab and actually make a standard
solution to test against sweat to see if it bleeds or has any color transfer. And lastly is the color fastness to crocking, which is essentially up against a white piece of cotton, and you can see both dry and wet. And again, you

fiber compositions. Some higher in merino wool and others more blended before eventually settling on sample SXG-015-11-V2
at 33% polyester, 30% merino wool, 18% nylon, 13% acrylic, and 6% spandex. This actually surprised me. I was expecting one of the other yarns with a much higher merino content to outperform this cuz like
>> more premium material, more better, right? But as it turns out, natural fibers do come with some tradeoffs. And we found that the other finalist sample that had 60% merino wool, it did not meaningfully
outperform our 30% sample on desirable traits like all-day comfort, behind when it came to pilling and fluffing, especially after heavy wear and washing. Both samples used the same construction that has made its way to
the final product though, and that's looser loops on the top to help with thermal regulation, and then denser loops all the way from the Achilles to the toe box to provide a soft cushion. This is great for when you're wearing a
shoe with a slightly higher back so you don't get chafing on the back of your Achilles, and we actually had some of our wear testers point out that while because of the cushioning on the bottom, they didn't feel like they needed them
>> And for me personally, I find that with our final material composition, I don't for different seasons anymore. Your mileage may vary a little bit if you live in a more extreme environment. Hi Europe.
But for my day-to-day, everything from snowboarding to wearing with my sandals or with my Vessis in the summer, these things are freaking awesome. Oh, and they're also perfect for court sports. As an avid badminton player, I
