[0:08] Can I just say I hate this girl so much [0:10] I might turn sexist. [0:13] The fragrant flower blooms with dignity. [0:16] A lot of people in the comments [0:17] recommended this anime to me and I will [0:19] fight every single one of you. I want [0:21] everyone who told me to watch this show [0:23] to give me their discord cuz I swear I [0:25] will ebox you. Before I get out of hand, [0:27] listen, it's a good show. There are only [0:29] nice things I can say about the romance [0:31] in Fragrant Flower. But I cannot accept [0:34] how we had to get here. It is so [0:36] unrealistic, so manufactured. I've seen [0:39] Kdramas less dramatic than this. Let me [0:41] show you why I'm pissed off. [0:47] This is Kiko Private Academy, a [0:49] prestigious all girls school described [0:51] as a historic institution for young [0:53] ladies where only the noblest of female [0:56] students receive the most premium of [0:58] education. A vast intellectual cohort [1:00] exuding nothing but elegance and class. [1:03] Immediately next to them is a a a [1:07] public school. [1:11] Chidori Public High School is apparently [1:14] known as a bottom feeder, low-ranked [1:16] school where all the idiots in Japan go [1:19] together. Because, as we all know, [1:20] anyone with a public school education [1:22] doesn't deserve human rights. They [1:24] should not be respected and should be [1:25] treated like garbage every time they're [1:27] seen in public. I hate poor people. [1:30] Renter is one of these idiots and our [1:32] main character. Together with his [1:34] friends, they're constantly ridiculed by [1:35] the girls at Kiko who can only let out [1:38] disgusted faces from the mere sight of [1:40] them. Literally all of them do this. [1:42] What kind of [ __ ] cult? [1:45] All except for one student, Waguri. [1:49] Waguri is a girl who is as sweet as the [1:51] cake she eats. She loves sweets so much [1:52] she always stops by this one bakery to [1:55] indulge in her cravings. Coincidentally, [1:57] this bakery is owned by none other than [1:59] Rtoro and his family. And after visiting [2:01] so many times, Waguri has taken a liking [2:03] to Renterro, who also likes her back. [2:05] But when Renaro finds out that she goes [2:07] to Kiko, he's left conflicted knowing [2:10] the strained rivalry between the two [2:11] schools. I just don't know why. I mean, [2:14] I know why they have class segregation [2:16] as a plot device because it's [ __ ] [2:18] easy. It's lowhanging fruit. It's like [2:20] choosing between the Allied forces and [2:22] Nazi Germany. Who would even think to [2:24] side with Hitler? Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. I just [2:29] don't know why it's so dramatized and [2:31] over the top. Seriously, the entire [2:34] school hates the public school next door [2:36] because of what? They're stupid. They're [2:39] poor. You're telling me the only [2:40] response you can pull off when seeing a [2:42] stranger is this face? Really? You can't [2:46] even pretend for a second to hide your [2:47] disdain? Imagine being at a public [2:49] school trying your best to study. Maybe [2:52] your parents couldn't afford a nice [2:53] school, but you still make it work. You [2:55] bust your ass doing part-time while [2:57] barely passing, and you think, "Well, [2:59] it's not the best life, but at least I'm [3:02] in school making my family proud." And [3:04] everyone next door is looking at you [3:06] like you deserve to be caged for [3:08] breathing. The problem I have is that [3:10] they're painting Chidori as this school [3:12] full of delinquents, and they just look [3:13] like regular high schoolers. The main [3:15] guy works at a bakery for Christ's sake. [3:17] If you're going to call them [3:18] delinquents, tell them to delinquize. [3:21] Make them destroy windows. Give teachers [3:23] wedgies. If these are terrible people, [3:25] they better start acting like dudes from [3:26] Windbreaker. Otherwise, I'm left to [3:28] think Kiko are a bunch of spoiled, [3:30] pissy, rich kids who can't formulate [3:31] their own opinions. But the worst part [3:34] is that they act so comically evil. No [3:36] one acts like this in real life. I can [3:38] tolerate this [ __ ] in battle shownen, [3:40] but I don't like having to suspend this [3:42] much disbelief in romance cuz I value [3:45] realism a lot more when it comes to this [3:47] genre. If only they put as much thought [3:49] into the premise as they did with the [3:51] main couple because it's good. I like [3:53] it. The interactions between Reno and [3:55] Wageri are incredibly wholesome. I'd be [3:58] sitting in my chair kicking my feet and [3:59] [ __ ] watching this. Like, their faces [4:02] are close to each other. The little [4:04] moments that Ruro and Wageri have [4:06] genuinely put a smile on my face. I felt [4:09] like a [ __ ] therapist, though, cuz [4:11] Rtoro would be like, "Damn, I really [4:13] like Wageri." And she said she was [4:15] really happy to see me. She also agreed [4:17] to study together and wants to get to [4:19] know me. She also said that in 20 years [4:21] we should get married, buy a house, have [4:23] kids, settle down, grow old together, [4:25] and have a picnic on a hill where she [4:26] falls from her illness and passes away. [4:28] But her memory still lives on within me [4:30] as our house. So I fulfill her lifelong [4:32] dream of moving it on top of a cliff [4:34] overlooking the waterfall. [ __ ] I think [4:36] she just wants to say friends. Mom, what [4:39] do you think? [4:41] You are actually brain dead. Whoa, [4:44] chill. It's not that deep, my guy. One [4:46] thing I will commend about him is that [4:48] he's not repetitively stupid. I've seen [4:50] shows where the guy stubbornly refuses [4:52] to change his mindset. Like, he'll [4:54] believe in AI deep fakes of me and [4:56] LeBron passionately making out before [4:58] believing a girl likes him. Huh? You [5:00] want to come to my place so I can [5:01] measure your boobies for cosplay? How am [5:04] I sure you really like me, though? You [5:06] only made me dinner at your place one [5:08] time. Holy crap. I'm on a date at home [5:10] with the guy I love. Jesus Christ, I [5:14] want to kill myself. And while Renterro [5:15] has the skeleton of your stereotypical [5:17] shownen romance MC, shy, timid, and [5:20] oblivious as [ __ ] at least he gets the [5:22] memo right away. Whatever mental brain [5:25] knot he puts himself in gets resolved in [5:27] one episode and doesn't get dragged for [5:29] an entire season so they can sell 40 [5:31] kinds of Marin bikini merch. The thing [5:32] he says at 15 minutes and 51 seconds in [5:35] episode 4 is the reason why he feels so [5:38] different, because he's actually honest [5:40] with his feelings. Wageri is the biggest [5:42] sweetheart of the season. This girl was [5:44] formulated and designed to be the [5:46] perfect romance lead. She's quirky and [5:48] eats a lot of sweets. A so cute, right? [5:51] Hum. She's outgoing, so she'll always [5:53] drive the conversation. Don't even worry [5:55] about thinking of things to talk about. [5:57] But she's also as innocent as a puppy, [5:59] so everyone wants to protect her, [6:02] including me. I will murder anyone who [6:04] tries to hurt her. Listen, I love our [6:05] main girl, but so far she's had one job. [6:08] Sit still, look pretty. And yes, I said [6:10] two things. Shut up. I only say this cuz [6:12] seven episodes in and RTOR has gotten [6:14] more of the screen time, hence more [6:16] character development, which leaves [6:18] Waguri feeling more one-dimensional than [6:20] I would have liked. But again, the [6:22] season's not over, so this could change. [6:24] I also appreciate that Wageri is honest [6:26] with her feelings even more than RO. She [6:28] wears her heart on her sleeve and [6:30] doesn't hide her emotions or bend to [6:32] anyone. This is exactly why drastic [6:36] measures must be taken. We need to [6:38] inject some drama. This shit's too [6:40] boring. And that drama comes in the form [6:42] of a psychopathic best friend. Subaru is [6:45] the guard you run the ISO on so your [6:46] homeboy can have a shot at the main [6:48] girl. Cuz if not, this will happen. [6:53] Savages. She calls them savages. He [6:56] literally just looked at Waguri up close [6:59] and you freaked out like a cartoonishly [7:01] obsessive mom. Like, if she's going to [7:03] be pulling these moves because a guy [7:05] sticks his face a little too close, I'm [7:07] expecting a whole generation's worth of [7:09] past trauma. And the reason why Subaru [7:12] hates men is because kids used to bully [7:15] her for her hair color. It's like, I get [7:18] it. It's a terrible experience. But I [7:20] can't imagine the mental leap going from [7:22] kids were being mean to I hate an entire [7:25] gender. I've been made fun of for being [7:27] skinny in middle school. Can't say I was [7:28] bullied cuz it didn't happen often, but [7:30] sometimes this fat kid called Jack would [7:32] bump me onto the lockers on purpose, [7:34] calling me weak. But I never developed [7:36] any hatred for fat people. I just [7:38] thought Jack was a dick. And yes, [7:40] everyone treats and reacts to trauma [7:42] differently. But come on, her reaction [7:44] was just too much. I can already picture [7:46] the comments. Wow, a man telling women [7:49] how they should react from trauma. [7:51] Typical. Oh, so women have to act demir [7:54] in the face of confrontation, but men [7:56] can scream and shout as much as they [7:57] want. Huh? [7:59] I What? She's not real. And I never said [8:03] that. And she literally apologized for [8:06] acting out of pocket. So even she knows [8:08] she overreacted. My girlfriend heard me [8:10] ranting about this anime and she [8:12] suggested that maybe the entire school [8:14] is girls girls banding behind each [8:16] other. She's better than me. I think [8:18] they're all savages. I'm going to stop [8:20] my rant about Subaru here. and she seems [8:22] to be turning over a new leaf in the [8:23] most recent episodes. So, at least the [8:25] characters are able to own up to their [8:26] mistakes and communicate, which shows [8:28] their maturity. Real [ __ ] people just [8:30] got to start acting like the boys. [8:32] Funny, unproatic, and surprisingly [8:34] mature and empathetic to the emotions of [8:36] others. I'd trade an arm and a leg for [8:38] Kiko girls to have one of these traits. [8:40] I'm glad the anime is starting to [8:41] integrate the side characters into the [8:43] story, cuz on God, I was convinced [8:45] everyone in the show sucked except for [8:47] the main couple. They better start [8:48] explaining the conflict between the [8:50] schools, too. Like I'm enjoying the [8:52] romance between RTOR and Waguri, but [8:54] sooner or later it's going to get [8:55] repetitive. They need to introduce some [8:57] new life to it. And that's what side [8:58] characters are there for, to provide a [9:00] different flavor to the main dish. [9:02] Overall, I think this anime has a nice [9:04] budding romance that never fails to make [9:06] me giggle whenever they're together. But [9:08] the premise is some of the most [9:09] blatantly concocted drama that exists [9:12] for the sole purpose of getting in [9:14] between Renter and Wageri. It's [9:16] literally, I love you so much, but the [9:18] entire world is against us. modern Romeo [9:20] and Juliet type beat. If that's your [9:22] thing, then you should definitely check [9:23] it out. And if you've watched this far [9:25] into the video, then you should check me [9:26] out and this video right here. Thank you [9:28] so much for watching. See you soon. [9:32] [Music]
