Can I just say I hate this girl so much
I might turn sexist.
The fragrant flower blooms with dignity.
A lot of people in the comments
recommended this anime to me and I will
fight every single one of you. I want
everyone who told me to watch this show
to give me their discord cuz I swear I
will ebox you. Before I get out of hand,
listen, it's a good show. There are only
nice things I can say about the romance
in Fragrant Flower. But I cannot accept
how we had to get here. It is so
unrealistic, so manufactured. I've seen
Kdramas less dramatic than this. Let me
show you why I'm pissed off.
This is Kiko Private Academy, a
prestigious all girls school described
as a historic institution for young
ladies where only the noblest of female
students receive the most premium of
education. A vast intellectual cohort
exuding nothing but elegance and class.
Immediately next to them is a a a
public school.
Chidori Public High School is apparently
known as a bottom feeder, low-ranked
school where all the idiots in Japan go
together. Because, as we all know,
anyone with a public school education
doesn't deserve human rights. They
should not be respected and should be
treated like garbage every time they're
seen in public. I hate poor people.
Renter is one of these idiots and our
main character. Together with his
friends, they're constantly ridiculed by
the girls at Kiko who can only let out
disgusted faces from the mere sight of
them. Literally all of them do this.
What kind of [ __ ] cult?
All except for one student, Waguri.
Waguri is a girl who is as sweet as the
cake she eats. She loves sweets so much
she always stops by this one bakery to
indulge in her cravings. Coincidentally,
this bakery is owned by none other than
Rtoro and his family. And after visiting
so many times, Waguri has taken a liking
to Renterro, who also likes her back.
But when Renaro finds out that she goes
to Kiko, he's left conflicted knowing
the strained rivalry between the two
schools. I just don't know why. I mean,
I know why they have class segregation
as a plot device because it's [ __ ]
easy. It's lowhanging fruit. It's like
choosing between the Allied forces and
Nazi Germany. Who would even think to
side with Hitler? Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. I just
don't know why it's so dramatized and
over the top. Seriously, the entire
school hates the public school next door
because of what? They're stupid. They're
poor. You're telling me the only
response you can pull off when seeing a
stranger is this face? Really? You can't
even pretend for a second to hide your
disdain? Imagine being at a public
school trying your best to study. Maybe
your parents couldn't afford a nice
school, but you still make it work. You
bust your ass doing part-time while
barely passing, and you think, "Well,
it's not the best life, but at least I'm
in school making my family proud." And
everyone next door is looking at you
like you deserve to be caged for
breathing. The problem I have is that
they're painting Chidori as this school
full of delinquents, and they just look
like regular high schoolers. The main
guy works at a bakery for Christ's sake.
If you're going to call them
delinquents, tell them to delinquize.
Make them destroy windows. Give teachers
wedgies. If these are terrible people,
they better start acting like dudes from
Windbreaker. Otherwise, I'm left to
think Kiko are a bunch of spoiled,
pissy, rich kids who can't formulate
their own opinions. But the worst part
is that they act so comically evil. No
one acts like this in real life. I can
tolerate this [ __ ] in battle shownen,
but I don't like having to suspend this
much disbelief in romance cuz I value
realism a lot more when it comes to this
genre. If only they put as much thought
into the premise as they did with the
main couple because it's good. I like
it. The interactions between Reno and
Wageri are incredibly wholesome. I'd be
sitting in my chair kicking my feet and
[ __ ] watching this. Like, their faces
are close to each other. The little
moments that Ruro and Wageri have
genuinely put a smile on my face. I felt
like a [ __ ] therapist, though, cuz
Rtoro would be like, "Damn, I really
like Wageri." And she said she was
really happy to see me. She also agreed
to study together and wants to get to
know me. She also said that in 20 years
we should get married, buy a house, have
kids, settle down, grow old together,
and have a picnic on a hill where she
falls from her illness and passes away.
But her memory still lives on within me
as our house. So I fulfill her lifelong
dream of moving it on top of a cliff
overlooking the waterfall. [ __ ] I think
she just wants to say friends. Mom, what
do you think?
You are actually brain dead. Whoa,
chill. It's not that deep, my guy. One
thing I will commend about him is that
he's not repetitively stupid. I've seen
shows where the guy stubbornly refuses
to change his mindset. Like, he'll
believe in AI deep fakes of me and
LeBron passionately making out before
believing a girl likes him. Huh? You
want to come to my place so I can
measure your boobies for cosplay? How am
I sure you really like me, though? You
only made me dinner at your place one
time. Holy crap. I'm on a date at home
with the guy I love. Jesus Christ, I
want to kill myself. And while Renterro
has the skeleton of your stereotypical
shownen romance MC, shy, timid, and
oblivious as [ __ ] at least he gets the
memo right away. Whatever mental brain
knot he puts himself in gets resolved in
one episode and doesn't get dragged for
an entire season so they can sell 40
kinds of Marin bikini merch. The thing
he says at 15 minutes and 51 seconds in
episode 4 is the reason why he feels so
different, because he's actually honest
with his feelings. Wageri is the biggest
sweetheart of the season. This girl was
formulated and designed to be the
perfect romance lead. She's quirky and
eats a lot of sweets. A so cute, right?
Hum. She's outgoing, so she'll always
drive the conversation. Don't even worry
about thinking of things to talk about.
But she's also as innocent as a puppy,
so everyone wants to protect her,
including me. I will murder anyone who
tries to hurt her. Listen, I love our
main girl, but so far she's had one job.
Sit still, look pretty. And yes, I said
two things. Shut up. I only say this cuz
seven episodes in and RTOR has gotten
more of the screen time, hence more
character development, which leaves
Waguri feeling more one-dimensional than
I would have liked. But again, the
season's not over, so this could change.
I also appreciate that Wageri is honest
with her feelings even more than RO. She
wears her heart on her sleeve and
doesn't hide her emotions or bend to
anyone. This is exactly why drastic
measures must be taken. We need to
inject some drama. This shit's too
boring. And that drama comes in the form
of a psychopathic best friend. Subaru is
the guard you run the ISO on so your
homeboy can have a shot at the main
girl. Cuz if not, this will happen.
Savages. She calls them savages. He
literally just looked at Waguri up close
and you freaked out like a cartoonishly
obsessive mom. Like, if she's going to
be pulling these moves because a guy
sticks his face a little too close, I'm
expecting a whole generation's worth of
past trauma. And the reason why Subaru
hates men is because kids used to bully
her for her hair color. It's like, I get
it. It's a terrible experience. But I
can't imagine the mental leap going from
kids were being mean to I hate an entire
gender. I've been made fun of for being
skinny in middle school. Can't say I was
bullied cuz it didn't happen often, but
sometimes this fat kid called Jack would
bump me onto the lockers on purpose,
calling me weak. But I never developed
any hatred for fat people. I just
thought Jack was a dick. And yes,
everyone treats and reacts to trauma
differently. But come on, her reaction
was just too much. I can already picture
the comments. Wow, a man telling women
how they should react from trauma.
Typical. Oh, so women have to act demir
in the face of confrontation, but men
can scream and shout as much as they
want. Huh?
I What? She's not real. And I never said
that. And she literally apologized for
acting out of pocket. So even she knows
she overreacted. My girlfriend heard me
ranting about this anime and she
suggested that maybe the entire school
is girls girls banding behind each
other. She's better than me. I think
they're all savages. I'm going to stop
my rant about Subaru here. and she seems
to be turning over a new leaf in the
most recent episodes. So, at least the
characters are able to own up to their
mistakes and communicate, which shows
their maturity. Real [ __ ] people just
got to start acting like the boys.
Funny, unproatic, and surprisingly
mature and empathetic to the emotions of
others. I'd trade an arm and a leg for
Kiko girls to have one of these traits.
I'm glad the anime is starting to
integrate the side characters into the
story, cuz on God, I was convinced
everyone in the show sucked except for
the main couple. They better start
explaining the conflict between the
schools, too. Like I'm enjoying the
romance between RTOR and Waguri, but
sooner or later it's going to get
repetitive. They need to introduce some
new life to it. And that's what side
characters are there for, to provide a
different flavor to the main dish.
Overall, I think this anime has a nice
budding romance that never fails to make
me giggle whenever they're together. But
the premise is some of the most
blatantly concocted drama that exists
for the sole purpose of getting in
between Renter and Wageri. It's
literally, I love you so much, but the
entire world is against us. modern Romeo
and Juliet type beat. If that's your
thing, then you should definitely check
it out. And if you've watched this far
into the video, then you should check me
out and this video right here. Thank you
so much for watching. See you soon.
