## Summary

This video addresses the common struggle of expressing thoughts clearly and confidently, both on camera and in person. The speaker identifies seven habits that undermine confidence and authority, offering practical alternatives to improve communication skills.

### Key Points

- **Stop Over-Explaining** [00:32] — Over-explaining weakens your message and makes you seem insecure. Experts speak less but with more impact. Cut your script in half to force clarity.
- **Stop Fussing** [03:06] — Body language speaks louder than words. Nervous movements like fidgeting or twitching distract and reduce trust. Replace them with calm, precise, and slow movements.
- **Say What You Truly Believe** [04:50] — When your words match your internal state, you project integrity and confidence. Honest speech builds a strong skill of clear thinking.
- **Take Pauses** [06:12] — Pauses show confidence and give weight to your words. They allow you to formulate thoughts precisely and make your speech more impactful.
- **Avoid Filler Words** [07:32] — Filler words like 'um', 'like', 'sort of' appear when speaking faster than thinking. Two habits: listen to how your words end, and keep your mouth closed until ready to speak.
- **Surround Yourself with Literate Speech** [09:09] — Your speech reflects the language you consume. Reading quality texts and listening to expressive speakers improves your vocabulary and clarity.
- **Tune Your Voice Like an Instrument** [10:42] — Voice tone, rhythm, and intonation are crucial. Reading poetry aloud is a fast way to develop a melodic and expressive voice.

### Conclusion

Improving speech clarity and confidence is achievable by eliminating these seven habits and adopting their positive counterparts. This not only changes how others perceive you but also enhances your earning potential through effective communication.

people decide one thing. This person can be trusted or is it better to scroll through. And it YouTube, performing on stage, or selling your idea to an investor, client, or audience. The problem is never charisma or talent, as many people think.
The problem is that you're doing things that are quietly killing your confidence and authority, and you don't even notice. Today I'll show you seven habits that ruin your confidence in front of the camera and in front of people, and what to do instead. And the
first piece of advice: stop over-explaining. You can have the most brilliant ideas, but if you can't communicate them clearly and understandably, you will always lose to someone who can. And here it is important to understand one important thing. Trust
is destroyed every time you indulge in weak behavioral habits. To be taken seriously, you don't need to add anything new. It is enough to remove what makes you weaker in the eyes of others. The smartest
people in the room almost never talk the most. They usually speak less than others, but every word they say hits the mark. I myself used to constantly re-explain and chew over the same idea. And I did this for several
reasons. Firstly, it seemed to me that if I didn’t dump absolutely every thought in my head on the person, he simply wouldn’t understand the idea. Although, in fact, the problem wasn’t with him, but with the fact that I simply didn’t know how to simplify complex things. Secondly,
I myself wasn’t entirely sure of what I was saying, so I kept going around the same idea with different words until I began to doubt whether the person understood what I wanted to say. And thirdly, if I didn’t get
the reaction I was hoping for, I would feel unsure and doubtful, and I would just keep talking, purely out of nervousness. It was only when I started rewatching my videos and
analyzing viewer retention that I noticed a pattern. The moments when I started going in circles and repeating the same thing, the retention graph just switch off. They have roughly the same thing in their heads . You've
already said this thought six times, we already understood, no need to repeat, right? Plus, at such moments I stopped sounding confident. And when a person sounds unsure, they are no longer perceived as an expert. Because experts and confident
people don't chew on ideas endlessly. They simply say it, assuming they have been understood, and move on. And here's what's important. If you know how to pause and aren't afraid of silence, you give people time to process what you've said and begin to respect
your words. Authority is felt when a person speaks as if he should already be listened to, and not as if he hopes to be heard. When your speech becomes shorter and more precise, your thoughts begin to appear clearer and
sharper, even if they are not perfect. The first practical advice I give my students to increase their confidence in front of the camera is to cut the video script at least in half. I deliberately limit the time a person can
speak because it forces him to leave only the most important things. Otherwise, you almost always end up over-explaining, and over-explaining, again, makes you look insecure in the eyes of the viewer. This is why you are not
listened to and not taken seriously. Second piece of advice: stop fussing. It doesn't matter what you say if your body language says the opposite. People won't listen to those who look insecure. If your voice and body don't
match, people won't trust either one. Because you look nervous and unsure, and no one wants to follow a person who looks nervous and unsure . It's clear? So instead of fidgeting, chewing
gum, twirling your hair, picking your nails, constantly touching something and making a bunch of unnecessary movements, you need to become more focused, precise, calm and slow. Why does this work at all? Firstly, strong posture, confident
stance, straight shoulders, straight back, calm hands. All this shows that doubts inside. And what’s more, it’s a signal not only to others, but also to yourself, that you’re collected. Secondly, the way you carry yourself literally shows others
person who is confident in himself, how he stands, how he behaves. Stand the same way, straight, use gestures, appear open, take up space, and
move calmly. Now imagine a person who is not confident in himself. Most likely, he is hunched over, twitching, making some unnecessary movements, and that he's not confident in himself. It is important
some nervous movements or start talking a lot without stopping. And all this distracts from the meaning of what they are saying. It takes away your confidence, takes the audience's attention away from your words and towards your strange movements. Therefore, your
task here is to replace nervousness, slouching and chaotic gestures with calm, precise, slow movements and a stable posture. And then people instinctively begin to trust you much more. The third piece of advice, and
probably my favorite, is to say what you truly believe. Your words must match who you really are . When speech and internal state do not match, people immediately feel it and trust disappears immediately. And when you
speak honestly and accurately, a feeling of confidence and integrity appears, and people begin to take you seriously. Before, most of what I said sounded empty. These were words for the sake of, I do n’t know, looking smarter,
winning an argument, or getting my way. But sometimes, at certain moments, I managed to say something truly precise. And then there was no feeling of shame, no then there was no feeling of shame, no doubt, there was a feeling that my words
stood firmly in place. This is the state we should strive for. Many people think that successful people can speak beautifully because they are smart. Often, it's just the opposite. They became smart because they learned to ask
questions and look for the right words. If you speak honestly, without wanting to impress, if every word you say reflects what you truly believe to be true, you gradually begin to build a very strong skill,
the ability to think clearly. And this is one of the most powerful skills that can ever be developed. Fourth piece of advice. Take pauses. Learn to understand the power of silence and its influence on speech. In modern society, we have almost completely
forgotten how to pause. We think that if we fall silent, it means we are stupid, slow, or don’t know what to say. Although more often than not it's the other way around. A pause shows that you give weight to your words, that you choose them consciously and
do not speak automatically. A pause shows confidence and respect for the listener. In general, pay attention to how this works with strong speakers. When a person pauses before answering, the listener feels this
tension and interest. And the speaker himself has time to formulate his thoughts precisely and calmly. Silence before a phrase allows you to collect your thoughts as a whole, instead of starting to speak and then
say. Most people do the opposite in conversation. They start talking before they even realize where their sentence and don't know how it will end. That's why we say something
hastily, then rephrase it, add extra words, explain it again, and in the end the idea only becomes less and less clear. When you pause before speaking or between key thoughts, you have
more connection with your words and have time to think about what exactly you wanted to say. At this time, the listener finds it easier to perceive the speech, because it sounds more precise, slower, and more confident. And the fifth piece of advice: to avoid the
words of parasites. Stop using words like eh, well, like, sort of, or expressions like in principle, essentially, as if, and so on. Filler words appear because we often speak faster than we think. The mouth
starts working before the thought has formed, and we have to catch up with it as it goes. That's why we insert extra sounds, just to gain time. Another reason is discomfort from silence. We feel uncomfortable
being silent, and we are ready to fill the pause with anything , just to maintain the feeling that we are continuing to speak, even if it is an empty sound that does not add anything empty sound that does not add anything to the meaning. I succeed. I can't say that I've
completely gotten rid of filler words, but I've almost succeeded thanks to two simple habits that I want to share with you now . The first thing is to pay attention to specifically listen to how my words, the words I pronounce, ended,
my speech automatically became slower, and my attention switched to the words themselves, to their precision. This forces you to choose your wording more consciously and speak less automatically. The second habit is to keep your mouth closed until you are ready
to say the first word. Many of us have an automatic reaction to start talking to Elina. If this sounds familiar to you, try formulating the first words in your head first and only then start speaking.
Keep your mouth closed until you understand how the sentence will begin. This simple technique helps a lot in clearing up speech. Sixth tip: surround yourself with literate speech. Pay attention to what language you let into your
life. The way you speak now is the result of the cumulative influence of all the language you encounter. Just as we are exposed to the product of our environment, our speech reflects the quality of the words and expressions we
interact with, listen to, read, or filter through our internal filter. If you constantly read or listen to primitive, careless phrases filled with slang, rudeness, and vague vocabulary,
you begin to unconsciously adopt these language patterns, and over time, such words come up more and more often in your active vocabulary, and then they begin to appear automatically in your speech. This is why it is
so helpful to consciously surround yourself with richer and more expressive language. Among people who can speak beautifully and precisely, it is rare to find those who read very little. Reading good texts introduces you to powerful
words, broadens your horizons, deepens your thinking, and all of this is directly course, we're not just talking about books here. I advise you to take a broader view and analyze all the language sources you encounter every day.
listen to, the content you consume. Of course, you don't need to drastically change your entire life just because you watched one video. But if you notice that most of what you hear and read is not
expressive and literate speech, it is worth consciously adding more sources of quality language to your environment in order to gradually get used to more precise to use them in your own speech. The seventh tip is to tune your voice like an
instrument. When people talk about good speech in general, they usually think only about the words, but they greatly underestimate how important the voice itself is. If you listen to people who speak especially convincingly, you will
notice that there is rhythm, music, some kind of melody in their speech. The words themselves are just a shell, and the meaning and this emotion are conveyed through intonation, volume, tempo of speech, and their changes, buoyancy. Yes, the
same word, spoken monotonously, can sound boring and unconvincing, but spoken with the correct intonation can sound expressively beautiful and impart a completely different meaning. Pay attention to what strong speakers say:
trained voice. There are always pauses, changes in tempo, clear pauses, changes in tempo, clear pronunciation of each word. Even if you speak with a perfect accent, you can still learn to make your speech
more melodic. Try to treat sentences like music, where each word is a note that should sound in harmony with the others. When speech becomes rhythmic and lively, listening to you is much more pleasant. And it turns out that
one of the fastest ways to develop your voice is to read poetry out loud. Because poetry makes you pay attention to intonation, pauses, stress, because otherwise you simply do not sound it. When you read poetry, you automatically
noticing it. Therefore, if you regularly practice these techniques, expand your vocabulary, pause, remove filler words, monitor the language that surrounds you, and work with your voice, your speech will become More precise,
confident, and expressive, and over time, you'll begin to feel much more fluent and confident in the language. When you start speaking more confidently, it's not just how people perceive you that changes; it's how much money you can
make. Imagine how important this skill is. Over the years of working on this platform, I've realized one very important thing. Those who know how to effectively convey their thoughts through content earn the most. I recently made a video about
the smartest way to make money on YouTube, where I demonstrate a model that can bring in hundreds of dollars a day. If you haven't seen it, be sure to check it out. I Thanks for watching until the end.
Thanks for watching until the end. See you in the next video. Bye-bye.
