## Summary

The Cars & Bids live show features host Doug DeMuro and his friend Dave, who discusses his eclectic car collection and impulsive buying habits. The show covers a range of topics from Maserati depreciation to a heated auction for a Lamborghini Murciélago, blending car culture with live bidding action.

### Key Points

- **Dave's Car Collection** [01:03] — Dave owns a 2017 Ford Raptor, a Maserati GTS, a 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit, a Cabriolet, a 1955 CJ5, and his wife's Mach-E. He describes most as impulse buys.
- **Maserati Depreciation** [07:57] — A Maserati Ghibli sold for $16,000, highlighting the brand's steep depreciation. Doug notes it's a lot of car for the money.
- **A-Class Sale and Cross-Country Drive** [13:40] — Dave's Mercedes-Benz A-Class sold for $6,500. The buyer, Kevin, drove it 1,400 miles back to Houston, a journey made difficult by the lack of cruise control.
- **Formula 1 Car on the Site** [20:44] — A 2013 Caterham CT03 Formula 1 car is listed without an engine. Doug sat in it and described the unobstructed pre-Halo view as incredible.
- **Lexus GX Third-Row Complaint** [29:23] — Doug criticizes the new Lexus GX for not offering a third-row seat with the off-road 'Overtrail' package, calling it a major oversight.
- **Ferrari Skateboard Story** [31:18] — Doug shows a Ferrari Challenge Stradale skateboard he received as a gift at age 13, which he has never used to preserve its value.
- **Lamborghini Countach Kite** [33:21] — Doug owns a Lamborghini Countach kite, a factory-endorsed item from the 1980s that he plans to mount but never fly.
- **Toyota 4Runner Memories** [37:26] — The hosts discuss the ubiquity and indestructibility of the third-generation Toyota 4Runner, sharing personal stories.
- **Murciélago Auction** [61:10] — A 2006 Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster with a gated manual transmission sells for $650,000 after a fierce bidding war between 'D71' and 'sixspeed 401k'.
- **E39 M5 Steering Complaint** [59:28] — Doug dislikes the recirculating ball steering in his E39 M5, calling it vague on center, especially after driving a car with great steering.
- **Carrera GT Name Critique** [60:27] — Doug wishes his Carrera GT had a more distinctive name, like '980', rather than the generic 'Carrera GT'.

## Transcript

are we live still yes hello it's not now
being recorded like we weren't live for
a split second and then it's over hello
everyone this is the cars and bids live
show live okay today we have my friend
Dave Dave would you like to tell us a
little bit about yourself what would you
like to know ask me a question Dave what
uh is your favorite color Dave what are
you draw what I my real question is I
want to know who cancel on you to put me
in this seat that's really what I want
to know what cars do you drive tell us
what cars do I drive versus what cars do
I own there's a two very different
things what cars do you own what do you
what do you own right now that that
makes you relevant for our experience uh
I have a uh 2017 Raptor okay Ford Raptor
yep just drove it across the country
damn yep no miles per gallon right as
you can imagine right uh I have a Maan
GTS Maan GTS yep don't really know where
that is right now um okay that's we'll
cover that later y uh I also have
a 1984 Volkswagen rabbit rabbit yep the
rabbit and then I've got Cabriolet yeah
oh it's got a drop top baby uh and then
I've got a uh what do I have I have a
CJ5 a 1955 CJ5 but it's kind of
frankensteined the front half is a CJ5
the back half who knows yeah okay yeah
um and that's all and then no and then
my wife has a uh a uh a Mach EC car this
really runs the gamut yeah so it's I got
all bases covered you know he's got
electric he's got a raptor he's got a
military Jeep looking Jeep uh maon GTS
you don't have a sports car no I had a
sports car and then the wheel broke off
I broke the wheel off hey look happened
to all of us it does
um you had and that BMW station wagon's
gone BMW station wagon thank God is gone
that is that was single that is the
worst purchase I ever made what you
didn't have any problems with it no I
didn't but I I was going to I KN I knew
it e61 it was it was e61 yeah 54 um I
knew my time was uh
my time was limited with that car right
so I got rid of it and uh it's probably
sitting in some Auction Yard in New
England right now and some and some some
high school kid is going to show up
unfortunate person yeah will get it okay
now I can I love okay I'm on the chat
here this is great and Robbie's there
too Robbie is Our IT guy he's great um
I'm gonna say hi on the chat okay so
it's a diverse group of cars especially
given the geographic area here's here's
the thing though um I would say the
majority of them with the exception of
the Raptor purely impulse buys yes the
jeep purely the Jeep as I recall and you
can correct me on the story but the Jeep
as I recall this summer uh there was a
Jeep like it that was parked with a for
sale sign on it near where you live and
you drove by it every day yep and
decided I need to get one like that and
then you did yes yeah and not and was I
I I didn't even buy the one that was 200
yard away from my house I had to send
somebody
off the island to another town renting a
U-Haul to meet with this guy bought a
sight on scene I do remember and bring
it
back you buy the one that was just down
the street I tried but not hard enough I
guess wait what does that mean they
already had sold it or you just you were
far apart on price so you spent another
three grand no no I I called I wanted to
go look at it and then I had to actually
do my real job so I couldn't go and give
the guy money it was David car was 800
ft away it was but it was a long commute
for me I don't really walk so I
just what is wrong so then you started
calling people on like believe yeah
believe it or not it was a Craigslist
find yeah it was Craigslist who uses
Craigslist anymore uh people to buy old
military Jeeps apparently so I can't
believe this I didn't realize that this
was the situation so you just bought a
different one to kind of show up that
guy and be like I could you could have
could have sold it to me it's like when
you go to a car dealer and they won't
they don't like take you seriously and
then you come back the next day and like
the the same car you bought from another
dealer and you're like see I was real
look at me now yeah so uh yeah 1955 so
that's now the oldest car I've ever
owned wow yep well that is old however
however many years ago that was no 70
yeah 70 years that was like what was
that height of the Korean War yeah
so for reference did it serve God no
it's just a it's just no this is this
was some guy so when I bought it made it
into a military Jeep yeah so when I
bought it they made it into a military
Jeep it's a Franken Jeep it's got all
different kinds of Parts but they wanted
it to look like one of the Jeeps in Mash
so the first so for one of the the first
things I did was I peeled off all the
mash
stickers ni yeah exactly make it look a
little less are all the stickers off of
it um you know me well enough that you
stopped at some point I stopped at some
point you were like and I was like you
know at least it doesn't say Mash
anymore so probably has the numbers
still somewhere or a star right a star
yeah um now what percentage of these
cars work that's the question they all
work yeah almost
um the
rabbit needs some work you spent all
last winter yeah I did I uh I spent way
too much time and money getting that
Volkswagen Rabbit going and then I drove
it and it was in perfect shape and
people were offering to buy it and I was
like No And then I didn't drive it for
months and now now now I need to do
stuff and deep Montana plates on that
rabbit yeah yeah so I started the whole
LLC just for the just for this thing you
know I got my reasons because he'd have
to he'd have to get inspected I didn't
want to get inspected because there was
no way in hell it was going to pass
inspection I got it perfect it was
running perfect meanwhile wouldn't pass
inspection yeah not even close guy said
something no my my 355 passed in
California I was very proud of that
although California to be clear has only
emissions in inspection Dave's problem
is that they have safety safety come
on so that wasn't going to be now does
he take his child in it yeah he does
yeah I did Dave so you got six cars or
something yes I did it okay you got six
cars or something and several
motorcycles probably yeah I got a lot of
motorcycles we don't care about those we
don't care about we don't do motorcycles
here where do you keep all the Surly you
have a garage nice big heated garage no
so here's the thing um I don't I have my
own used car lot uh by the grace of
other people uh where I keep all of my
cars yeah you planning on getting a
garage or you just going to like let
them all kind of wear away no no so I
don't actually sell things I just let
them rot away I accumulate and then and
then rot and then when they get bad
enough then you sell it after it was
worth 40% of what it could have been
worth well either either that or I
decided the other night I decided that
that
rabbit I may pay to ship it to Slab City
I may plan to ship it there and just
just visited Slab City on his drive out
here and become a real thing now I'm a
I'm a I'm a slab guy now um okay there's
a lot to discuss and I'd like to discuss
it um can we start with uh someone asked
a question about Maserati depreciation
this is something actually for you Dave
can you pull up that gibli we sold the
other day Ken this was an unbelievable
situation we sold scroll down to the
results that car we sold that which is a
that's the current gen for
$16,000 that had 58,000 mil even bad it
had accident or anything I mean you talk
about like looking Rich for no
money yeah I don't think the only thing
you're looking is Rich oh interested
interesting interesting I no I agree not
my favorite car this would make a this
would actually make a great turo car if
you bought it would make a good turo car
because if you showed up in Miami and
you rented one of these people people
think you're legit and for 16 Grand you
could buy it and throw it up on T well
right that's what I'm saying 16 Grand
throw it up on turo I mean you'll
probably you could actually make
probably some decent money with it but
anyway to this day I get people who
don't know anything about cars texting
me who see this and they're like look I
saw Maserati today yeah I have and I
want to be like you saw a $166,000 car
today I saw a Ford Focus you see the
Maserati on anet the really the the one
that has about 40 different W colors on
it yeah I know the exhaust yeah Grand
Turismo he's talking over over by the
car wash I will say that every time I
see it which is pretty frequently it
gets progressively better really yeah it
get like almost all the panels match now
oh I mean look at that interior that's
nice this yeah I I very famously did a
video where I made merciless fun of this
car because it was trash but that was
when what were they 85 yeah that's a lot
now 16 and I got to tell you it doesn't
feel like trash at 16 what did you put
in that it was toothpaste wasn't it was
toothpaste I put a tube of toothpaste in
that panel
Gap and I haven't been invited to a
Maserati press launch since
but man but for 16 for 16 Grand that's
something I would buy it starts to look
somewhat appealing it's something you
would buy yeah impulsively yeah right if
someone if someone showed up with that
next to your house to the four sales set
on it you'd probably go to Vermont to to
pick one up nah right yeah if somebody
didn't sell me that then I would go to
Vermont and buy something like that fite
okay can we talk about the a class we
have an a class that's ending
today uh in 3 minutes Dave share your a
class stories Dave is first friend of
mine who actually saw the a class Dave
yeah give us your opinions about it you
saw so you
know my first opinion right you know the
like the covered wheelchairs that you
see like the the little tiny things the
the doors it's like a like a like a
scooter it looks like that for the road
it does cuz it's kind of narrow and
unusually tall yeah yeah I feel like
it's one of those with a license plate I
will never forget I was very proud of
this car when I got mine and I brought
it to your your place over there Y and
one of your people who works for you who
is from Italy yes she is she looked at
it and said my my grandmother has that
car back in Italy this was like the
second day I owned it and I was like
well this is a we're not off what was
the why did you buy it cuz it looks cool
you can't tell me it looks interesting
this window look at that window going on
right there I'm not so sure that do you
know what the difference is between that
car and your car is that your car you
have one window and in this car you have
two windows there both triangular I
might add and you really like Mercedes
with triangular Windows especially I've
got that G wagon that's right so they're
that that looks cool to who you don't
think that looks cool I always thought
it was kind of like a funl looking thing
and then I realized when I bought it it
is only a funl looking thing and so
where is your your your I sold it to a
man who was on the show last week never
seen it Kevin okay you didn't watch the
Kevin one no it's great you should watch
it Kevin was great cuz he was about to
embark on this journey where he drove my
a class back to Houston yep which the
update is that he made he made it by the
way he made it to Houston in he made it
in the a class he sent me pictures today
with from next to all of the state
welcome signs so like an a class next to
it welcome to New Mexico and I'm
thinking to myself this has never
happened
before signs you should said that to me
soon I would have coll it for this but
I'll do it for the night and he asked me
when he was on the show he said will it
make it the 1400 miles back to to
Houston I said Kevin I've only owned the
car I've only driven the car 500 Miles
myself so I don't know but now he's
tripled the M Houston that's like he's
got to go across yeah that's that's
Texas I told him I told him it was
probably the only time you ever wished
he lived in El Paso yeah I know well
might also be the greatest distance in a
class has ever been driven oh yeah you
got to assume history I mean that's a
significant cuz it doesn't have cruise
control which I forgot about he told me
that his his legs hurt and his thighs
hurt and all cuz the seats have no it
just wasn't made for long drive that
yeah that was a I did like the interior
that yeah with the the weirdo which by
the way this one does not I'm anxious
that um oh go back go back go back look
above the stere that little that little
whirly thing you had that that was the
only I didn't spend much time in your
car that was the no but you mocked it
mercilessly around town of course people
were coming up to me like hey man you
know Dave's talking about you in this
car well they were saying you know times
must be tough for Doug he's driving
around in our a class I thought it was
cool I thought people would think it was
cool only select people well Kevin did
Kevin thought it was cool yeah Kevin's
living life in the fast you know Kevin
said that this one is nicer than his uh
he's actually decidedly living life in
the slow L
yeah but I think that mine was um just
as nice I want to go back I I want to
talk about Kevin for a what was his
other what's his he owned a uh an S3 an
Audi S3 and a Volkswagen Pat station
wagon okay and he kind of had thrown a
bit up and then he won it you know and
it was yeah but I was like I told him I
right he's like you I said Kevin if you
fly out on Wednesday morning you can be
on the live and so what any thoughts he
had about bailing on the whole thing he
was like yeah okay I'll do this one sold
$ 6,5 $6500 Dave your thoughts on 6,500
for an a class um I hope to God that
wasn't my wife that thought
that um 65 yeah that sounds fine I mean
I don't want to say anything because
somebody just paid for it uh oh you
don't you think that's not worth 6,500
come on that's like a car yeah okay for
what else could you get for 65
especially cuz that'll you show put Cars
and Coffee in that and people will look
at it you but you know why people are
going to look at it the only reason is
because you had one no people are going
to be like what is this thing you show
up the Carson coffee and Aston Martin
and people are like well another Aston
this is what's happen can actually be
able to make it to cars and& coffee it
makes it everywhere okay well apparently
makes it to Houston made it to Houston
yeah that's true but you're going to end
up with you're going to have a lot of
conversations with people who are from
Europe or spend time in Europe that's
what you're going to have oh I remember
that is the only person that spoke to
about yours guia no several other
Europeans on N came up to me interesting
like bulgar like all of the Europeans
who are like h-1bs were all like oh an a
class and it was like but they all had
some bad Association you know I don't oh
the questions I want to talk about the
questions for a second k um this this is
a
pen and I am going to give the pen I'm
going to mail it personally to the
person who asks the best question today
and by that I mean Kenan will mail it
when he has time when he's at the post
office if he's not too busy I'm putting
this on me you just volunteer you got to
go to you got to go to the uh post
office anyway for uh the thing on your
desk oh yes yes Kevin left his water
bottle here so when Kevin when Kenan
goes to mail Kevin's water bottle to him
if he has time I'm not saying you got to
do this I'm saying if you have like 10
extra minutes you mail the desk the pen
to somebody if you don't you do it next
time this pen will be given to someone
who asked the best question um so let's
go into the questions and see them
okay kenon why don't you pick one pick
one that Dave would be interested in
give Dave one oh don't do that too
here's what because from from our friend
Kevin uh a different Kevin what's the
worst card to drive across the country
and other than the
a140 uh I think like ferari F40 would be
pretty bad it's not built for that and
it would just be kunos would be another
like stradman who did it stradman did it
he break down he that to YouTube yeah
Kos is the probably the answer Kos is
pretty bad Dave did it motorcycles that
yeah I've driven across country I don't
know I probably creeping up on 30 times
cars and
motorcycles motorcycles are tough yeah
they're tough I'm I used to be much more
interested in Cannonball when I was
younger and every they were all like you
know cool records whatever but the guys
who did it on motorcycle solo yeah
that's Insanity I don't know how you
I've always wanted to do that
um but I it's it's so dangerous I've
done one of the yeah but
not not only just like because of the
speed you have to do but like to remain
concentrated on a motorcycle for well
that's the biggest thing so like on a
motorcycle obviously there's so many
other factors uh at hand but like you're
you're dealing with the weather you're
dealing with the speed you're dealing
with fatigue you're dealing with all
these things um the weather and the the
ambient temperature that's the hardest
part yeah I can but anyway no that's a
fair point I never really thought about
that a car you can listen to stuff on a
motorcycle you were listening to the
wind the to I listen to music but
there's only so many times you can
listen to Abba across the country so and
you can't put on uh TV did you watch any
TV on your cross country drive me no
okay no no you would no I don't break
the not allow cruise control at the
speed limit cruise control at the speed
limit yep yeah what happened you got
that ticket last time you drove across I
yeah I got last time I came out here to
did I come to see you well and you did
things but I came out to see yeah yeah I
had to I had to check in on my property
in Slab City um so no when I came out uh
I got a ticket in uh Illinois and I was
talking to you and you're like oh
hypothetically maybe you should reach
out to some ticket lawyer people I yeah
yeah you were like do it and I was like
okay nobody wanted anything to do with
me nobody want they were like this is in
it was in such a rural area that they're
like that you know yeah I had that
happen the cop is probably related to
the judge and thing I got a tiet North
Carolina once where uh I I had to send a
lawyer from Charlotte and I had to pay
for his time and it was like hours and
they didn't know him at the court they
didn't him so he got down slightly LGE
and I couldn't go to Carolina for like
90 days I had I was like 25 over and
there's some speed threshold where if
you're that much over in North Carolina
you're you're not allowed to to drive
that so it happened to and he wasn't
able to get it pled down this was 10 12
years ago but in I say similar thing
happened to me in Virginia I was driving
from New York I don't know where on the
what's it what's the outside part of
Virginia or Maryland the to ches the B
Bridge
oh yeah the that rural part yeah yeah
the the Eastern Shore yeah so I got hit
for 85 in a 50 or 55 in Virginia you got
that ticket you go to jail no so I so
whatever it was he was nice enough to
bring it back down um but then I had to
show up for court and so I couldn't send
anybody I was poor I still am but then I
had to I had to go home and then I had
to come back you know 30 60 90 days
later to the courthouse in this place
and plead guilty cuz I yeah was guilty
of it uh and uh yeah had to pay my
ticket and haven't been back since you
just pled guilty I'm not going to I you
went all the way back down there just to
plead guilty and pay fine I had no
matter what I had to go I couldn't pay
it I had to go um I want to discuss
briefly a couple of cars that we have on
the site right now that are very special
before we get into the next car there
are some special cars we have on the
site right now and they are
special uh some special ones Canen and
talk us through okay okay let's talk
talk about that we have a roof rt12
Coupe
Canon well it is it is a very special
car admittedly I don't know that much
about roof 911 I really never got that
into them but it's an in it's a pretty
insane car 650 horsepower in a 997 Turbo
with all the Mazza has is cool think
this is a 997 Turbo I guess it is
doesn't have the that's what it was
based on doesn't have the little
openings but you know it it that's what
it was based on you know this car has
its own special roof Vin it doesn't have
a Porsche VIN rt12 right is that what it
is
W it's like a real roof situation yeah
roof is just an interesting company
because they're clearly recognized by
Porsche but also not recognized by
Porsche it's it's kind of like Alpena in
away cuz I can I don't I pora and them
are buds they're definitely buds um more
importantly I want to talk about the
Formula One card can you pull up the
Formula One C Dave are you wear this no
we have a form one car the site now so I
reviewed this car I can tell us what it
was like when you drove
Hollywood Bev well see thing it has as
it has no engine I could drive it anyway
um it was so cool a lifelong Formula 1
fan um Dave's a big Formula One gu yeah
and to be like that close to one granted
I mean this the Kum of ct03 which is
what this car is called was not very
successful in 2013 uh the previous year
the previous chassis was substantially
more successful this car was kind of a
disaster but even so it's a Formula 1
car and one that was actually raced um
and it was just like so cool to be up
close to everything and like really look
at it and then to like get inside the
car and sit in it was incredible because
you sit it's obviously very low but I
always had been led to believe like you
know your feet are like elevated way
above you to get your center of gravity
really low that really wasn't the case
you just kind of sit flat on the ground
yeah um and to have like that view like
in Reverse looking out and seeing like
the tires in front of you like just
brought Formula One to life for me in a
way that um
that's preh Halo too so you got that
unobstructed view yeah completely
unobstructed um that is cool and it was
just like it was legit um I have to say
they uh you know that it was funny the
dealer they were like oh it's got this
you know it's got this scratch here that
I'm like yeah it was a race car like
actually was race like that's very cool
where uh where is that located it's in
La it's in La well the cool things the
dealer told me about this car like
whoever buys this I suspect you can put
an engine back into it that's what I was
thinking
and you could race it which would be or
you know what a track toy that would be
but but most people do what they do is
yeah oh that's cool you show for the GT3
I have a Formula One
card of course You' need a team to keep
the thing running and all that stuff no
if I threw an LS in it right Dave let me
tell you something Dave could buy this
and over a winter he could put an LS in
it and get it running yeah I could do
that well the thing the thing so what
they used it what this dealer used it
for and what I suspect a lot of people
use it for is advertising like if if cuz
it draws attention like nothing else the
dealer you can see the road in the main
picture like right behind and so they
would park it right here outside the
dealer and people would just like to it
cuz it's a form one car sitting outside
is it just exotic cars or what are what
are they selling so yeah they had a
bunch of exotic stuff uh when I was
there when I filmed it they had an F40
which they put behind it for me which
was very cool and they had like they had
a yeah Diablo K they have some really
cool stuff but the and like wonderful
people to when does that five days five
days you got to think it through it's
not impulsive enough it
is if there was if there was five
minutes left man I'll send you a text
right before I'd be on my way up to LA
right
now this is so cool 13 uh how many
different can you see how many
individual people have bid or is it 13
people yeah I've never been to the
website I'm not really sure how it works
you you have been Dave wants to buy a k
truck by the way that six wheeel one
that I sent to you the tracks how they
go for for real money 25 Grand oh my God
that could have been you that could have
been um that thing is yeah pull that up
I I don't think it was a highet oh you
can't type in K truck I think it was a I
think it was a Honda there you go wow I
beg I begged Dave to buy this I'd
imagine that driving New Hampshire
winter could have easily done it look at
that could have been you man that could
have been me really they really are just
tracks put on the yeah but to be honest
that's like what it what how that works
I I guess that's true I'm not that but
it's like an obscure concept what do you
mean why you know what your problem is
you don't understand what it's like to
have like a really muddy property I got
a bog yeah I have if I have a bog I am
I'm probably not the kind of person
that's driving that no dude I got a bog
down south of here I got three of those
yeah yeah and an actual tank and an ice
cream truck what was that go back one
and a Formula One car what is that one
in the upper right we sold this yes boy
$5,600 yeah I bought it for a bog could
have had this for what's in the back
what do you do in the back what's that
yeah that one on the side you do
whatever you want it's a shaved ice
vehic you could sell shaved ice out you
could probably you could probably live
back there you know what the problem
would be with this is that you sell and
shaved ice and then someone comes up and
just picks it up and walks away with
your whole business yeah like the
Bulgarian guys yeah so I got these
Bulgarian guys that that work for me and
uh my rabbit they one of them
single-handedly lifted up the whole rear
end wow I bet them that they could there
was some geot TR that was parked on the
street I bet them that they could lift
it they didn't want to lift up somebody
else's car I was like it's probably been
lifted up okay go back to the main page
there's something else I wanted to
discuss oh yeah that that uh Cadillac V
wagon yeah a big fan former owner I had
a v wagon it was a tip I drove that AC
cross country in back what color was it
silver I sold it to a man also in
Houston and he total it like 6 months
later he fell asleep at the wheel wow
such a shame and like to like fell
asleep at the wheel thing went off the
road tree he was fine but the car that
was the end of that no this this is the
one you want manual manual V wagon V
wagon and black diamond which is the
coolest color in the world that looks
cool I'm a big fan of wagons how come
you haven't got this one this car uh
when's it end that's a great picture in
like 20 minutes you buy
them there's impulsive impulsive maybe
these who took these photos they're good
pictures which again makes all the
difference World absolutely all the
difference in the world and it looks
like may like I'm even considering it
non impulsively God I love this car so
much I have to say this is like the
poster child in my opinion for a vehicle
that has held value I have a buddy who
bought one a blue one and 10 years ago
and he said to me he said do you think
this will hold value at the time it was
a three-year-old car and I was like of
course not you complete idiot it's a GM
product it's not going to hold its value
all Wagon in America you're laugh yeah
it's a wagon in America no one wants
this thing you're a laughable person and
I think he's up I think he's still
laughing at you I can hear him from here
he lives in Atlanta I think I I think
that looks really cool with those wheels
too you know who owns this you know who
owns this is a uh a funeral home
director oh interesting you know who's
like doing pretty well for right but
he's like doing well like I want it to
look like a her he's and he's got to
have like a Cadillac Wagon to like feel
the part like he's he's cruising by
retirement homes you know just like
dropping off a few business cards like
he's he's wheeling and dealing I think
this guy's is someone who owns several
like several funeral homes cuz you it's
a fast car got get between them you know
make sure he gets all the funeral yeah I
think so either black or but I think I
would the one that I had the price on
this the problem well right now it's 555
you want it you want this you want a bid
you want to sign in remind me in uh six
minutes when I had mine the drawback was
that it was more it was less wagon and
more sports car the Mercedes that wagon
AMG wagons that I had were always too
much wagon and not enough sports car it
was like a lot of engine anything that
ever struck the balance perfectly the we
stried it best BB strike the best
especially with three pedals yeah you
know rowing your own I'm I'm I love
these cars my uncle had one um I just
think that it was the red that red uh
the red was so cool the red with the
chrome wheels this is also one of the
few cars I think chrome wheels look good
on he loved it because in like where he
lived in like rural Ohio he was just
like he'd find like a Mustang that like
wanted to go to stoplight and he would
just like lunch them did a few times
people didn't really realize drive
around a Cadillac hatchback you look
like a back and then you got 556
horsepower and then I remember the sound
oh man like sounds like thunder it's
just such a wonderful car it was such a
wonderful car such a big
engine 556 horsepower is more power than
all of Dave cars Dave's cars combin yeah
yeah that's probably true y you click on
the interior I want to see the interior
white wow good for children that ALC
staring wow kind of heavenly none of
those have aged well no and I had I had
one in 13 and it was at 11 and the alant
ter had already faded yeah that sounds
right but man I mean and it's so it's at
55,000 right now and it has 85 th000
miles on it I mean yeah well they don't
they're reliable and they don't lose
they've just never lost value reliable
fast cool pull up a question or two well
we wait for that one to to close down
okay Jameson writes opinions on the new
2024 Lexus GX I got an opinion I sent
this opinion to Lexus the other day and
I'll send it to you right now I'm
serious sorry jamus it doesn't seem like
you're the one who's getting the pen
yeah I got an opinion my opinion is the
following Lexus coming out with the new
GX can you pull up a picture of this
thing cuz it's really cool looking M
Lexus GX new type in new cuz there's a
lot of old ones and Dave and I don't
want any to do with that yeah I think
it's all right P pull that yeah look at
that look at that square thing go to k
look at that look at that square little
cutie so Lexus comes out with this and
I'm very excited I want a car like this
so I I look into it you know a little
and when I discover is that they do not
sell the third row seat with the
off-road stuff they're pitching this as
an off-roader there's a model called the
over trail that has all this off-road
stuff you have to choose between a third
row and the over trail and I don't want
to choose it's most of those any one
yeah but now I have to choose that's the
over tril and I'm look at that so I
can't get that with a third row even
though all the other new gxs have a
third row the overt trail with all the
off-road stuff is two row only and
people are like well why don't you just
modify it because it's got all this
hardware and software that you can't
just put in a regular one and I'm
extreme extremely upset
now H thank you for your question Jamon
that is I can't even tell you how much
this upsets me I'm dead serious I think
it's going to be so cool it's got a
great power train cuz that's what you
would definitely buy I'm going to get a
seoa I'm going to have to buy
a yeah this would be cooler than a
sequoia if it had a thing look at that
you know what you need no forget the
Sequoia yeah you know what you need what
this what that uh that uh lifted Sienna
I do in the neighborhood that that's
what we need that's I do need a lifted
Sienna that's the dream they still offer
the Sienna with all wheeel Drive the
drawback is that the driver AIDS are not
you don't need those did you use them on
the way across the country no you don't
have self steering though in that car no
I have like Lane yeah but it's not going
you use adeptive Cruise no I don't have
it cuz I got that big old steel bumper
and none of the sensors up front work
you're kidding no you does cruise not
work at all no Cruise works I just I
have to like look you have to look yeah
I don't like to look yeah um okay
let's do another question
here K what do you like pick a question
oh here's a good question J no Ken this
is a great one James why is there a
skateboard in the background kenon show
us your skateboard yes well I can't I
can't get up to get but there I will get
up all right oh man Doug's getting up
okay oh boy there is a story behind the
skateboard so I don't remember which
birthday it was I think it was my 13th
14th birthday something like that thank
yeah you can I tou thing I don't and now
I can't get to it um so here you take it
thank you so when I was 13 or 14 my
uncle for some reason got me this
because I loved Ferrari now I everyone
knows this is not the sort of thing that
I would use as I don't skateboard and i'
and I haven't and I don't and in general
Ferrari gifts are kind of tacky yes but
people know that's what I like however
this you could get these they only sold
them at the Ferrari store which used to
be a thing you go into actual physical
stores and buy Ferrari stuff at the win
in Las Vegas and they sold this
specifically there and so I have the bag
that it came in still that has like the
wind like thing on it but you could get
this there like this was a brand from
somebody the coolest part is that it's
like a challenge stad yeah and it's a
challenge stali skateboard because it
has the same stripe that the stradal had
more or less down the center exactly now
it came out at that time it was and I
think it is Roso scooteria which is the
color it was like the color now of
course like every good Ferrari I've
never used it to retain its value and
because I'm too afraid of breaking it no
I was too afraid of breaking myself
fairness but I've never used it but I
thought it would make a nice prop so
that's why it's back there um it's I've
been told the trucks on it are pretty
you want to do an ollie yeah no my uh my
skating days are behind me you know
you're not doing that anymore you know
but that's where that's the story behind
the Ferrari skateboard it is a it is a w
one of the wild a challenge Trad
skateboard it is so cool it's like oh
you have a regular Ferrari skateboard
challenge Str exactly and admittedly
I've never known what to do with I got
it then at like age 13 I'm like what do
I do with
you were smart as a kid to not do
anything with it cuz someday that's
going to be someday it's going to you're
going to be selling a challenge TR
people are going to be like does it does
does have the skateboard does it come
with the skateboard so you 360 challenge
trol owners you got to go out and find
the skateboards you want to have a
complete car when you go to sell it you
know what a great question would be that
wasn't asked and maybe I'll give the pen
to myself is what is the most ridiculous
Automotive I have a Lamborghini Countach
s kite
and when the count s came out which must
have been 82 now this is Factory and
endorsed correct it had to have been
it's got the logo pull see if you can
pull up a picture of the kite that might
be tough it might be tough what we
getting Kos kite and when the kite when
the car came out and by the way this
wasn't the original C yes there it is
that's it right
there oh man zoom in on that when the
when the Kos s came this was only $249
when the Kos s came out in 80 or
whatever they made these Kites and you
know it's of course
absurd why did they do this recommended
age eight to adult well as an adult I
possess one of these and I can't wait to
mount it someday but never use it of
course right like the challenge toly
skateboard look at that that's so wild I
that's a really great question though
that might be it the a class Teacups are
pretty great the a class Teacups are
good did we show the kach kite on screen
if not no no pull it back up Alissa I
want I want everybody to really
beautifully
view the K kite wow that's got to be one
of in that's that's a decent size I
didn't even realize that that's of K
I'll never be able to mount it anywhere
nobody flies a kite anymore especially
last time when was the last time I saw
somebody fly a kite um yesterday on the
beach I was with you that doesn't count
it doesn't count cuz we were together no
it does no it doesn't count because I
was not that type of kite it was not
that was like a kiteboarding kite like
what like a kid like we got to run and
like get it in the air right that was
hard nobody kites anymore right
especially but this one was only $249 it
would have been nice and EAS been deal
only Lamborghini I could have afforded
go back to the uh uh the CTSV bidding is
fast 60 Grand throw a bid on this thing
you don't know where the reserve is you
just throw throw a nice little bid it
resets the clock right it resets the
clock I don't think I have 31 seconds to
create a profile you have a profile do
have you looked me up yeah oh okay I saw
a couple of those bids you threw no yeah
I in the middle of the night I like to
bid just to like my form of gambling you
know right we have some people there are
some people who there are some people
who bid on like almost every car well
the one episode I watched of this uh the
guy what was it who was building bidding
on two things and I think he ended up
winning the second one oh yeah right
yeah I was like okay wow imagine that it
happens there was a guy though there was
a guy who B on like 300 different cars
and didn't win a single one of them and
some dude wrote to us and was like this
guy is a shill and you are working with
him to drive up the prices of cars and
then one day he won one and he paid for
it and it was like well he was real this
whole time and I wanted to email I I
didn't do this but I wanted to email the
guy back and be like you were wrong what
did he end up getting he got out like an
SL just some just like a $155,000 SL but
the point is he he after all these
attempts he finally won and he was legit
wow like I thought was 62 wow going up
Dave this could be you driving V yeah
but I don't want to pay 62 what do you
want to pay for this I want to pay like
72 okay well um can I suggest that
happen right now can I suggest throwing
in a bid the company is buying you lunch
today maybe give some of that back to us
that's true are these cookies props or
can I have no you can have a cookie
really 62 the audio is it good um you
should maybe not chew like into the
microphone the mic also moves to be
what like the microphone it's moving
closer to my mic Dave Dave was like in
production for years he's like
completely aware of everything that's
going on here ridiculous God what a
carve this man some of these pictures
too are really great yeah I know K why
don't you have one of these getting
close to my number I've never yeah never
um can you go back to the main page
while the bidding continues here and we
talk about the Forerunner yes absolutely
Dave can you give this is a question
question we should ask all of our guests
what are your uh can you tell us a
childhood memory with the third
generation Toyota Foreigner everyone in
our age group has one okay I'll okay
I'll tell you yeah what you got you
remember Ken Yo's story I I think I
think it was the third gen
uh why I'm afraid of
horses get out of here the kid that I
went to to this place with his first car
was a flrunner everybody knew he had to
put he had to put grip tape on the rear
bumper because it was rusted through
right yeah right MH when I was in
college my college girlfriend she had
previously in high school dated a guy
who had one of these no she had one and
he that her but boyfriend had it rolled
it in soft grass and they flipped it
over and drove it home as somebody who
has flipped a car and driven it home
yeah that's that's that's uh pretty
impressive that is impressive oh I I
love don't you agree that these were
literally ubiquitous like when we were
young they still are around but like
there were everybody we know it was
either someone's dad had one or someone
had one it was a hand me- down like they
cannot be killed yeah they are just
everywhere cars where can you go back to
it where is it what is it 5700 for a
stick shift one but it's got 250,000
miles that's nothing no it is nothing
this car will run forever that you see
them everywhere there's still you drive
around and it's ready to go
where's that where's that one located it
looks like Illinois plates illo boom
it's in Chicago it's not far enough away
for him to buy though be much I have I
have to be way more inconvenienced he
needs Hawaii and by the way yeah
speaking of you know I want to get this
SE TRD Pro the one I want there's like a
perfect one in Hawaii okay I'll go get
it for you can you make it work
logistically it's not all that hard I
just don't want to do it yeah you know
on some of those like freight ships you
can travel for free if you like help out
there's a pretty there's a pretty
well-known process to just okay I will
go I will fly to Hawaii on your dime uh
I will I will network with a uh freight
company and I will see if I can gain
passage myself my person the Sequoia
Sequoia you can pay for that but I will
accompany it on the way back to uh you
know the port of LA or you're shipping
it to yeah okay great that's that's
great that sounds like that's just
that's the right amount of inconvenience
for me to make it work to get on a
banana ship yep and be like I'll it's
got I'll work for refrigerators if you
let me bring this seoa on yep or
whatever I don't know pineapples what do
they bring back from Hawaii know pineapp
United States service members cars
probably the chief export from Hawaii is
United States military members cars when
they get transferred to America you know
Hawai Hawaii is America yeah is America
just yeah okay I want to be clear about
that but I bet they refer to it as
America just like you do about the
mainland I actually I don't and I hate
that but people do I hate that it drives
me up the wall um speaking of America uh
the ctsb wagon 63 that is a bargain
whoever bought that you I'll give you
64 that is such a so much car I kind of
wish I kind of wish I was driving that
back home yes yeah I still have to drive
the Raptor home man I drove this is not
an appropriate story but I drove one
across the country 10 years ago this was
10 years ago and I got up on I70 next to
I was like e61 actually yeah and uh the
CTSV was quicker put it that way this is
in the middle of Kansas there was nobody
around but it was like the one time I
really open it up on the free I was like
damn all right pull up a question give
us a question Dave choose a question you
like choose a question
well oh wow that's a great question sain
writes do you think Kenan in an F50 or
Randy popes in an a140 would be faster
at Chuck Wala oh God okay let me think
let me think about
this I think even I would be okay I say
oh hold okay I think Popes would
run hold on my name is there no I think
Pop I think pop would be faster I think
pop would be faster barely right the f I
just beat that that's a $5 million car
all right well what car would you like
well I mean I'm sticking to the question
like a an F50 I I very much want to
drive an F50 at some point it's my like
poster dream car uh um and they what I
from everything I've read everything
I've been told they're not new as
intimidating to drive yeah easy drive so
I suspect I could probably get
comfortable the reason one of the
reasons why the M5 was so slow is like
it just rolled so much and it was mine
uh and my only car uh and so I was very
afraid to to damage it do you think
there could be another reason the M5 was
slow yeah the driver is slow generally
yeah but you know maybe I'll just
like maybe we'll work on our track times
some some time I
have much track experience that was my
first time ever really only time or
first time only time I bet beat you I
bet he would lay down in the a class
about a
225 and you in you and your car did like
a 250 no it was a I think it was a 240
something I 247 238 I think or something
like that I don't think you find 20
seconds in an
F50 I bet popes beats you let's make it
happen dude Randy if you're out there
and somebody with an F50 we have well we
have four problems we got to get an F50
that it's a a big one David Lee we got
to get Randy another tough one we got to
get an A40 again because I don't have
that Kevin drive back Kevin will drive
back maybe Randy popes could drive it
from Houston no ry's Dave choose a
question we want to answer not doing
that oh let's
see there's one question the only
question that's directed oh there's
another one uh which one is striking you
uh Corin Hall Dave what would be your
favorite truck off-roader for under
20,000 be also do you have any other
thoughts on International Scouts let's
take those one at a time but let's start
with the scouts do you have any thoughts
on Scouts I I have no thoughts on
original scouts or this weird electric
the new the old ones the old ones um I
think they're really cool um did you
ever have a scout no I didn't you've had
a Defender I've had it I imported a
Defender the old Jeep the old Jeep a
bunch of Wranglers new jeeps do you ever
have
Toyota no but that's a personal thing um
I did Toyota do did you have like a
personal I don't want to talk about
it I I think the international are
pretty cool uh what would be your
favorite truck off-road of uh 20,000 I I
really liked um my previous F-150 was
actually a pretty decent truck you had
built it into a pretty nice yeah I I
built it's a big thing it it is but it's
he's he says he uh no that's that's not
the motorcycle guy um I I liked my F-150
I thought it was good I also I've had a
number of Wranglers um I think they're
pretty cool only a twood door one um
Dave's going to assault the four-door
what if you want to take your family
off-roading what if you want to take
like your kids
off-roading if you have kids and you
want to take them off-roading you could
get a four-door Jeep but I think but
uh no I I don't I know if you like a
pickup truck I would go like an F-150 um
if you want something with a shorter
wheelbase and that's a little more
capable off-road then I think a rangler
would be pretty cool the answer to the
question is always probably a Jeep I
mean like for 20 grand just a Jeep you
just you could just go anywhere anything
I mean I don't know where this person
lives and if they're like on the P
that's the problem with these questions
I wish we had more context like hey
Corin Hall do you need to carry people
around yeah do you have a family or are
you 16 um are you are you the type of
dude who like toes are you to in
cornhall cuz there's another person who
talked about being you know liking
motorcycles like do you need to carry a
motorcycle
um yeah I don't know that that'd be my
my thing probably a TJ Wrangler um Kenan
can we go to the mercy Al Lago oh yeah
we can absolutely Dave are you aware of
this we got a mercy ending in like 10
minutes we're gonna we're going to cut
off the live after the mercy but we got
to do the mercy because I got to be
honest with you this is the greatest
thing that's ever happened wow this is a
200 Lamborghini mercy Al Lago Roadster
man is that cool come on it is orange
yeah it has a g six-speed manual go back
at go back one there's a Chrysler learon
uh convertible up there you also we also
you said Orange it's orange orange Oh
Come okay orange what is that Christ of
the baron convertible I I we'll see it
in other pictures I'm done with the
mercy I only want to talk about the LI
there's another Mercy there's another
Mercy but man I mean come on what's it's
at 500 and something Diablo it's at 50:2
Dave you know I saw this morning I was
walking around La Hoya you know and uh I
saw an orange and black
MX5 and you could buy dozens that's the
30th an wait that's an ND a new one
that's a 30th Anniversary you buy dozens
of them yeah you know people always say
that like the cage T like you know you
could have had 10 for already F 430s I
don't want 10 I don't want dozens of MX5
but
imagine being the guy that has like 45
MX5 that would not be something I would
be that guy you'd have to store them
someplace not me leave the go back one
go back one look at that steio 968 this
is a great inventory this car is so cool
I where is this one yeah where is it I
forgot this one is in uh oh wow Philly
Pennsylvania I want to give my opinion
on the mercy can we all can we return to
the the image of us hello everyone this
car you should
buy and you should bid and you should
bid no I think that these cars are so
special and old Lambos are having a
moment right now they're all shooting up
in value even as the General market is
cooling this car is such a special car
especially with the Gated manual
transmission um I am obsessed with this
thing it's low miles it's not modified
badly like I would paint the wheels back
to stock but like it is a nice car and
it is special and it is cool and as as I
have said in a million of these lives
and will continue to say if you add up
the number of kenon you want to take it
from here no you can fin if you add up
the number of muras kunas Diablos and
mercial Lagos that spans 1968 to
2012 right they still made fewer of all
of those cars added together than
Aventadors this is a special car it's
pretty amazing now of course you have to
I guess yeah so just the big V12 if you
add the previous ones together that is
pretty amazing uh it's also special um
so this is not an lp640 it's the lp 580
as our as our friend Nick who has one
says um name that he himself assigned to
the car right manual LP 640s are are
ludicrously that's a million dollar car
yeah it's a million dollars now I don't
find that it adds all that much to be
perfectly honest I would this car is the
one I would get although I wish I had a
little higher mile so I could use it but
this is the one I would get what I'm
saying
I don't think you lose that much of the
experience and it's you're click
clacking away in a V12 Lambo I drove one
of these with Larry ammo Larry a couple
of months ago a stick but it was a coupe
that we had on the site and it was so
good I love my Countach but I totally
get why some people don't want to put up
with a kunos and this car isn't as
insane and that's reflected in the
values but like it's almost as insane
and it's more modern and you still
driving a V12 Lambo that looks insane I
mean you pull up anywhere with this
thing and it's so legit and the Mercedes
is becoming this really it was always
special but it's becoming now like a
vintage Lambo and it's like a truly
desirable Car Plus so many of them were
heinously modified in period And so like
a nice one is a nice one I drove um our
friend Nick right after driving a a
Diablo um a sixo and the Diablo like I
think is incredibly cool and you just
strap to a big motor and it just and it
feels like that this car I found was you
get that as well but it's also like
actually pleasurable to drive like it's
actually fun the Diablo and the are
cooler cars yeah but very hardcore but
they're hardcore the Aventador is less
cool less hardcore this is but it's
faster this is like the perfect combo
right and this with a manual that's a
Ser that's a very serious someone who is
Hardcore I have a
Countach right like as someone who's
legit like I think we would all agree
Dave it's debatable the a class takes
away from yeah I you know you did own an
a class you know at the same time at the
same time you know I there goes the
skateboard Sor that's all right that's
fine look authentic one uh one yeah
minor crash history on the on the
skateboard fact you know I took a
picture in my garage of the CR GT next
to the a class and I posted on Instagram
and I've since seen that picture come
back to me with no context like just
some guy's garage has a CR GT in an a
class people like harvested that picture
like posted on Facebook groups and I
love that I'm part of the uh Zeitgeist
now you are thank you this car oh look
at those pictures Dave buy this car
yeah it's so cool I never how long how
much longer what 10 minutes see the
thing is you know what's the price at
now 525 see 52 you're try you're trying
to get me to move here to San Diego uh I
would buy that car I just can't live in
it with my family this is the perfect
car for when you live in San Diego yeah
open roof no roof2 we go for drives
every morning at 6:00 a.m. when the
fog's still around before the police get
out there yeah
yeah the only the only price of Entry is
$531,000
wow look at that gated manual so much MO
is such a special car this one is nice
like legitimately nice sh leg the seats
look good it's not like yeah I mean
that's the benefit of buying a 4500 mile
cars it's actually nice yeah how cool
you could rent that pretty easily in
Miami Beach right a mercy no way these
days the places in Miami Beach are
running hurac and they they have Salvage
tit
and they do not have airbags anymore
look at that beveled
glass
know wow look at that cool so cool I
love this car um real super car it
really is nice this is what happens yeah
on a low mileage Supercar my 4G teeth's
starting to get a
little you know I I've scuffed the door
panel the door um sill you know I've
driven the car and you can tell if you
start really poking around it looking at
the leather and looking at I didn't even
need to poke around man here Dave drove
the forg oh ken you'll appreciate this
Dave drove the I primed him for this so
you can guess what happened he was a
horrible passenger it was very annoying
the entire time that's how Doug is I've
refused to drive a car with him in the
passenger seat because he's just
constant like nagging and telling you
you're going too fast you're not going
fast enough you're shifting too slow
you're shifting too fast you're turning
the wheel too much you're not turning it
enough like it's just nothing that
pleases him and he does it to Rattle you
and you're just like I'm annoyed with
this you're
just to Rattle you my favorite is that
you're in the wrong gear I love to tell
people that they're in the wrong GE oh
my God oh my God oh my God you're in
this G you're still in this scar you're
still in fourth fourth here now you're
fourth yeah yeah it was it was never any
the the drive over here was what
cruising at 3 12 minutes yeah 12 minutes
I would say for 12 minutes he was in my
right ear complaining about to be fair
though one of the problems people have
with the for GT and you had this problem
too everybody's afraid of like going at
it and that car you can go at it and so
he's s he's cruising on the 163 he got
passed by a lightning a Ford Lightning
new body it's very expensive it's not
his there's no visibility have you you
don't need visibility you're faster than
everything else on the road you just put
your foot down vroom vroom that's your
visibility you don't need to see what's
around you just go yeah but oh I can't
see my blind spot floor it you don't
have the blind spot here's the thing
here's the thing now what was in your
front spot is in your blind
spot I don't know what kind of insurance
you
have good good insurance I just don't
want to be I I can't be the person who
like crashes one of Doug's cars which is
why I refuse to drive any of them I've
never driven any of your cars and I
don't want to you've never driven the
Ford GT not yours no driven them I will
say I I know I'm in the minority here I
know
this I like the Ford GT better than CR
okay well if you drove the car you
wouldn't if you drove the cour you
wouldn't fail yeah no I I don't want to
I don't need to no
never let looks like a a stretched boxer
it looks like a stretched boxer it
drives like Perfection there is never
been a better dri when when when you
take me out in it
I'll it is the single greatest
experience every time I drive it I think
every time I'm living I think to myself
I have too much money tied up in this
car and then I go drive it and I'm like
I need another one I want two yeah need
more of a driver I want five y um bids
keep coming in on this at 545 let's take
another question or two before we get
back to the mercy closure absolutely
we'll come back okay
uh blue blue blue Lucas writes is that
an Argentine road sign in the background
no it's Colorado State Highway 88 it
does look like the Argentine flag though
um Lucas AR Sean what car if you saw in
Europe would be the equivalent of seeing
an a class in the US Chevy SSR you know
what's actually funny about this I
imported the a class okay and and I
still get emails from Europeans that car
is boring you are stupid you don't
understand like I got so many emails
like that if you go on my Instagram
every time I posted the a class it's
like this car is nothing in Europe
you're stupid this car is boring in
Europe I am bored by this car I can't
believe you got it it's just a regular
car in Europe own meanwhile on Twitter
they're all right by the way they're
right it turns out but meanwhile on
Twitter Europeans will tweet me if they
see a Mustang oh my
God look at this I just saw this in
Belgium it's a Dodge Ram it's a it's and
it's like it's a Mustang reg registered
in the Netherlands like yeah of course
they love Mustangs this is the whole the
whole thing about cars is that context
is important about the like I would get
way more excited seeing a Ferrari 360 in
a rural Town than an F50 in Monaco
because but like yeah to be Point like a
Challenger in Tokyo that would be
something and that's why the a class is
cool and that's why a Mustang in Europe
is cool like I see those pictures and
I'm always like oh that's neat cool but
like I get that you you've normalized
the a class we have not that's what
makes it special and I got so many
emails like this my God stop emailing me
I think well I was as I was looking at
the a class I was sort of thinking about
this so where is that picture so you
kind of get a sense of it here here is
an a class in a normal Suburban town in
Pennsylvania looks weird a trash bin
like it just it looks it doesn't belong
there just that belongs bumper scker go
on these are the big questions here
what's that say No Sleep import okay
well boom but yes context is the most
important component of a car spotting of
of of like coolness of a car right like
that time we saw the F40 on the PC just
driving traff meanwhile we could have
driven down the street to Ferrari
Newport Beach where they have an F50
just sitting in the showroom that's not
as cool not as special right it's a c
it's like see it's like seeing a lion in
the zoo versus seeing a lion on the
savan that's that is exactly what it is
like go to another question Dave I want
you to take this one you pick a question
okay I'll pick the question if Dave if
you could eliminate any car ever from
being made what would it
be that's a good
one oh if you could eliminate any car
from ever being main what would it be uh
I probably uh my uh
e61 what that was horrible I hat that
was a great the correct answer is the
the Lincoln Mark six um no I'm kidding
those were fine too that's you know
that's actually kind of a weird question
but I like the one above it from Jan
what is one imperfection of your car
that you hate and can't fix that's a
wonderful question Jen we all have those
we all think about
those we do the E wagon has none
though unfortunately uh but my other
cars
do kenon why don't you go ahead yeah I'm
trying to think the E39
M5 one one imper Perfection well I I
would say I I disagree with your uh With
Your Wagon assessment on your car you
going to say third row is too small I
rode in the back uh third row seat and
that is not made for somebody that is 61
and I also want to say the windshield's
Apparently not very uh resilient we had
an incident you know it was quite the
incident some guy beat on the windshield
that
broke the okay I wish it had a popmobile
rear end so that the cargo area you
could have a lot of head room third
floor I will say that was the first time
I rode in the third row of a car since I
was probably six really awkward making
eye contact with the people behind you
as a grown man you're sitting in traffic
and there's a person I didn't think
about that right there it's bizarre
Dave's wife was in the back and I cut
off this Jeep and I was like oh God and
then my wife is bearing the brunt of
some guy in a jeep she's like looking at
you then then it's awkward you you got
smile and wave like do you can't do
anything anyway so you were saying what
are what's the imperfection in your car
well the one I could think of um is my
it's probably my least favorite attri
attribute about the E39 and it's kind of
something that's well known about it is
the steering I don't like the steering
on that car it's a recirculating ball
the other E39 the six owner E39 got a
steering rack like a you know rack and
pinion and that car has recirculating
ball so it's very vague on Center um
it's not particularly great I recently
drove my friends boxer spider another
car about and then I got back in that
car I was like wow this steering legitim
Ely sucks and it and it when you drive a
car with great steering and you compare
it to that when you drive that car on
its own it's like it's fine but then you
drive a car with great steering it's
like wow this is really bad and that's
probably my least favorite thing that is
one of the best steering cars right
exactly so I went from the best to you
know they reason BMW put that steering
system in that car is they allegedly
could not fit um a rack and pinion
system in it and that so that's why they
have that and that's so that's an
inherent problem with the car you can do
things to make it a little better but
you can't really fix it here is mine on
the crow
GT the
name oh cuz everybody comes up to you go
it's that it's just that like I think if
they had named it the Vulcan it would be
more special I think that calling it
Carrera but this is is a term they use
on all their other cars and calling it
GT which is a term that every single
automaker has used at least once in the
in their history yeah but think about
think about what it means to Porche
specifically they should have called it
the 980 the GT is always the high
performance version whatever it is GT3
was new at that time that's the
direction they were going so it makes
sense that they said they chose K and GT
is a historical thing too but yeah but
you this is part of it you have to
explain this if if it if it just had its
own name that stood out as a special
thing I think the car would be like the
McLaren Senna this thing is named after
Senna right well yeah I mean we're
talking many generations removed here
but you get the point pora doesn't like
to do that they name I mean they'll name
a model line after you know the Maan and
the and the Cayenne but it's rare it's
very rare they name cars like that you
know so then I mean all the super cars
959
918 I would have taken 980 but they
should have called it 980 they shouldn't
they shouldn't have called it C GT it is
a fairly dull I see the mercy flepp is
over here like oh mercy the mercy you
think I don't see things I see
everything this is going to get a
thousand bids oh all right I'm going to
bid right now prolong the the live
601 6110 there we go that's a bid he's
over here freaking out we're getting
bids bids bids this thing was at 501
like four minutes ago all right fipa you
GNA tell us when the bids are coming
in 61 this is fun to watch who's bid on
this thing is Ed Bolan in here or is he
Tapped Out
620 Tan's in
there n he's low he hasn't he hasn't
been in a while we got two guys kind of
going at it here
d71 and six-speed 401k and you know what
this car is a six-speed 401K it sure
[Laughter]
is man 620 God Lambos are just like
killing it right now sixspeed 401K is
going with the kenon strategy of going
only a thousand over that is not my
strategy my I believe in big bids
consistently that's my this is a big
conversation between us Dave is like
whether you go hard like this dude is
doing and just go 10 up and be like I'm
a big baller and I'm just going to bit
high or whether you go a little at a
time and pris what he's doing he did
9,000 that's what he's doing and the
other dud is doing the other thing we're
going to see today which bidding
strategy actually wins this I want to
see this play out D 71 this is quite an
auction
630,000 for a Lamborghini mercio they
think there's uh couple of people
sitting on a computer somewhere right
now
yep put type in that in 6:30 enter and
that click must feel so confident he
oh man 631 now he's got to he's got to
come back he's got to come back 71 going
to just show up at 640 he kind he's
going to he's going and he doesn't even
wait that's how it's done that's how you
bit that's how you win a car people 6
speeed 401K he I think he can do it
though you got to think that 6pe 401k is
like nervous he's like he's probably
nervous I mean he's got 401K in his name
he's probably like you know my future
but going up only a th this dude's just
big balling him every
time oh man don't don't end here man I I
do like that our this is a great battle
of strategies it is a great battle of
strategies although one thing we're not
factoring it is one of them may actually
have a hard price well no that's the
well that's my point you set the number
but you you work up to it right right
you
know another strategy that the other
strategy is to put your number your
number what you want to pay on as the
first bit like first day 641 which that
is a that's the best strategy I'm I'm
curious but it's a terrifying one it's a
terrifying one look look at look 650
boom he's right back in he doesn't care
I love this
guy who is this guy I can't click on it
probably this guy is so 71 is that what
that says D yeah I'm you know what I am
going to send the pen to
d71 win or lose it goes to it goes to
him but that's yeah that's always been
my belief yeah win or lose and relative
to the value of the car too I mean you
know you're not going to you're not
going to be dropping $10,000 bids on an
a class um but Ed Bolan just commented
amazing I bet he's pretty happy cuz he
paid 700 for an LP right many many it
had 10 million miles on but 650 6 651
651 401K is going to dig deep you think
so oh I know he is well Dallas 71 is not
Los over a grand what do we got 10 N9
come 401K we're delayed by the way
everybody else knows 5 four three two
one
boom is that it is that it is that it
it's got to check for fin Soul that'll
do it 650,000 strategy real money that's
Doug strategy real money for a wheel car
it is Doug strategy thank you very much
Str I did get it from someone but I
don't know where but it wasn't you it
was me it was me you stole that so he's
going to get that car he's going to get
a sweet little pen I think I got it from
Ivano on that RS4 auction that he was
bid against Nick and Nick was going up
by the I have felt this way since we
started to be clear so I just feel this
is Doug strategy Kon I'll loan it to you
no it's wow
$650,000 that is a real result for a
really desirable car you will not find
another one especially when that's nice
Ken let's end with one more question one
more question you've got
it oh I like this one Connor Doug do you
like the 720s 765 LT or 750s better and
tell me the reason why the answer the
answer to the question is no
[Laughter]
Conor yeah one thing about Doug is that
and I actually agree with this he
doesn't know any of the McLaren models
of Tri like can't tell you which one is
with they're all the same as mine
although it's 720s 750s you can't really
tell them aart but uh Dave what do you
think about the
Prius Dave what do you think about the
Prius I'm sorry I I I'm gonna take this
one yeah I
um I like the Prius and I'll tell you
why the Prius is the punching bag for
every
every gasoline or rolling coal diesel
pickup truck and I think there's
something to be said for that they just
they still get into a little car they
they're conscientious about the the
environment I think the PRI you like the
Prius so so that it can be viewed I
think the Prius does a lot for the rest
of us the rest of the people because we
can look at it we can look down on it
not necessarily but they're like they
show up every day they're like you know
what we're going to get you know people
are going to roll coal in our face like
but we're going to like we're going to
hybrid our way through them all you know
they're going to they're good so yeah I
think that's good and you know what they
do oh fake Kenan by the way it's Kenan
right why does Doug Cross his legs like
he need to go potty all right listen I
become very leggy if I don't go back to
that shot of me that this shot actually
is probably even better look at this
look at all these legs why is there
distortion on the bottom of the the
camera you see this you uh well maybe I
just have these legs that are absurd you
look like Woody look at Story You're
Just dangling around like that tiny so I
do this to try to like smallen up my cuz
it's so absurd otherwise you like I'm
doing it too but you kind of look you
know seductive like that you know like
right right uh okay there we go that is
the end I'm trying to see if I want to
do one more question well I have I have
a comment on the PRI I think the new one
is Great's cool I was I was behind
something I don't know if those a new
one but the rear end actually looked
really good and then I drove real fast
my Raptor and you yeah you rolled coal
right into his rolled gasoline coal
right into his sucker oh kenon last one
what brand of jacket is Ken wearing go
ahead I actually don't know uh I got it
relatively recently and God this is a
mistake something it's I know it's made
in Canada oh this is one from to Lone
can you buy Canon a USB extender so his
Hub isn't just dangling there it really
bothers me uh the answer is no uh okay
good night everybody thank you so much
for coming to the live you can you can
find Dave on Instagram or maybe not I'm
not really sure yeah I who knows maybe
you can find me if your life you look
really hard if you go through the people
I follow and type in Dave there's
probably eight or nine one here's Dave
right here's Dave as this thing uh okay
thank you very much Kenan appreciate it
bye everyone see
