[0:00] hey guys the black CR guy and welcome to [0:02] the first video for romance month I'm so [0:05] freaking excited to get this month [0:07] started and what better way to Kickstart [0:09] romance month than by doing a top 10 [0:11] list that many of you have requested me [0:13] to do and that is a list of the top 10 [0:16] cliches in romance anime now before we [0:19] begin this list I want to share with you [0:20] guys a little background information [0:22] about myself especially if you're new to [0:24] my channel and that's the fact that I'm [0:25] a huge huge super mega Uber fan of the [0:30] romance genre of anime particularly [0:32] romantic comedy animes I eat that [ __ ] [0:36] up guys and I enjoy it more than any [0:38] other genre of anime so as I'm doing [0:41] this list I want you to keep in mind [0:43] that this is coming from somebody that [0:44] considers himself a devout fan of this [0:47] genre because I'm not going to deny that [0:49] as much as I love this genre it is just [0:51] chalk full of so many similar motifs [0:55] similar characters similar setups [0:57] similar situations that you see [0:59] repeatedly over the course of many years [1:01] that we have come to consider cliches [1:04] and now I get to count the top 10 that I [1:06] have noticed over the years when [1:08] watching romance animes kickstarting our [1:10] list in a very sexy way at number 10 is [1:13] Beach or pool episodes in almost any [1:16] given romance anime the main characters [1:19] always partake in an obligatory trip to [1:21] either a beach or a pool and most of the [1:24] time it doesn't really connect to the [1:25] main story its main purpose is to serve [1:27] as fan service for the audience the show [1:30] Girls and skimpy outfits splashing each [1:32] other and messing around with the main [1:34] characters and all and them just having [1:36] fun mostly being the center of attention [1:38] at number nine is the average nice kind [1:41] of geeky and completely oblivious male [1:44] leads in almost every single romance [1:47] anime that I have seen the male lead [1:50] always turns out to be this really nice [1:52] guy who doesn't really have anything [1:54] special going on with him he's a bit [1:56] geeky or a little socially awkward and [1:58] completely obl oblivious to the female [2:01] lead's feelings about him or any other [2:03] female for that matter now I can name a [2:06] bunch of romance animes that fall prey [2:08] to this cliche but to name a few you got [2:11] amagami SS dust man of Amnesia Love [2:14] chibio and Other delusions F A Tale of [2:17] Memories and finally one we friends and [2:20] honestly although this is a major cliche [2:22] in romance anime again I don't really [2:25] have much of a problem with this I like [2:27] nice guys in animes and I'm happy when [2:29] they actually get to get with the girl [2:31] so you know as much as it's a cliche [2:34] still really enjoy the cliche no it's [2:36] not what it looks like at number eight [2:38] misunderstandings there comes a point in [2:40] many romance animes where the main [2:42] character gets caught in a predicament [2:44] that leads to a misunderstanding that [2:46] causes this whole drama to spy out of [2:49] control and people are either mad or [2:51] they overreact to the situation and [2:53] coincidentally my number eight cliche [2:55] ties in with my number seven cliche and [2:57] that is trip plus fall falling down [3:00] equals [3:01] overreaction now you could use many [3:03] different variables in this equation but [3:05] the end result is always the same the [3:08] main male character does something by [3:11] accident ends up tripping or ends up [3:13] doing something that pisses off the main [3:15] female character thus she then [3:17] overreacts to the situation kakam matu [3:20] the creator of Love Hena and neima is a [3:23] master at this technique utilizing it [3:25] prevalently in his mangas and adaptation [3:28] of his mangas where the the main male [3:30] character just happens to trip and go w [3:32] w and he lands on the girl like right on [3:36] top of her and she being assum today [3:38] just overreacts and like beats him up [3:40] and he sends him flying or he'll [3:42] accidentally walk into a room while the [3:44] girls are changing just out of [3:46] coincidence and then they would be like [3:48] you perfect and they overreact sometimes [3:51] when used properly it is very funny but [3:54] most of the time it just comes off as [3:56] really forced comedy number six Harms [4:00] just wouldn't be a romantic comedy [4:02] without them am I right animes that fall [4:04] under the harm cliche once again can [4:07] alamu delivers as most of his animes are [4:10] centered around a herum is this a zombie [4:12] this poster behind me also deals with a [4:15] herum in fact even key is responsible [4:17] for some of the most famous Herms in [4:20] anime from Clan ad to shuffle they have [4:22] Herms in them and honestly that's the [4:24] most straightforward cliche on this list [4:26] there's not much more to add most [4:28] romantic comedy have Herms in it but [4:31] tying in with my number six cliche we [4:33] got my number five cliche and that's the [4:36] fact that every girl wants the male lead [4:39] in almost every romantic comedy that is [4:42] centered around a herum every single [4:45] member of the herum just has a thing for [4:49] the main character and doesn't go for [4:51] any other guys whatsoever this bothered [4:53] me in the fact that you know there are [4:55] other guys out there that are [4:57] interesting you know if they actually [4:59] spend spend the time to go outside or [5:01] even develop another male character I [5:03] don't like it when a romance anime [5:06] focuses solely on one guy trying to get [5:09] with all the girls I would actually like [5:10] to see the girls have romances with [5:13] other guys you know their own romance [5:15] why it have to be with the main guy it [5:17] just was so bothersome and extremely [5:19] cliche they always go for the main guy [5:23] I'm sure Japan has more guys than this [5:26] Average Joe that's really nice I'm sure [5:29] there's like a bad boy somewhere a [5:31] really intellectual man a really [5:33] sophisticated person come on ladies [5:35] don't don't just go for the closest [5:37] thing near you go go Spread Your Horizon [5:40] go meet other people either that these [5:42] girls are just horny as [ __ ] and we'll [5:43] jump at any guy near them which kind of [5:46] makes sense because most Herms take [5:48] place in high school when you know [5:50] you're dealing with all these new [5:51] hormones and all that stuff so it makes [5:54] sense but we can just do with less of [5:57] them from time to time diversity that's [5:59] what gets you ahead and once again tying [6:02] into my number six and my number five [6:04] cliche we got my number four cliche [6:06] which is love triangles where there is a [6:10] Herm anime and where there is an anime [6:13] where most of the girls are infatuated [6:15] with the main male lead there is going [6:18] to be a plethora of love triangles [6:22] guaranteed and honestly and I sound like [6:24] a broken record here I don't really have [6:26] a major problem with love triangles as [6:28] long as they handled in a very [6:30] interesting or very comedic way but in [6:33] most romance animes the love triangle [6:36] just comes off as this really forc [6:38] melodrama that's thrown into the anime [6:40] because we got to add more attention oh [6:42] my God who's he going to choose oh [6:44] they're fighting over him oh my God it's [6:46] crazy stop that [ __ ] either make it [6:49] interesting or make it funny otherwise [6:51] don't bother putting a love triangle in [6:53] the anime because it's just going to [6:55] come off as really pointless and stupid [6:57] and once again sounding very very [6:59] repetitive like the cliches on this list [7:02] my number four cliche also ties in with [7:04] my number three cliche in fact my number [7:06] three choice is the most unique cliche [7:09] on this list but that doesn't change the [7:11] fact that it's used so abundantly now [7:14] that it's gotten to the point where it's [7:15] just dull generic and really annoying to [7:18] see and that is the whole flat chest [7:22] versus big bust in almost every romantic [7:26] comedy anime and sometimes in some [7:28] Romance animes the main male character [7:31] has to choose between the adultlike big [7:34] breasted chick or the childlike [7:37] flatchested chick who always turns out [7:40] to be the Sund of the anime the biggest [7:43] offender of this cliche that comes to [7:45] mind is without a doubt Baka and Tess [7:48] where it's shown prevalently throughout [7:51] the entire Series where our main [7:53] character akaha Yoshi will point out how [7:55] heii has these big women likee breasts [7:59] and and that Mami has these really small [8:01] little girl type breast and it was funny [8:04] now and again but it just got really [8:07] really really repetitive afterwards and [8:10] speaking of breast sizes we got my [8:13] number two cliche and I think you all [8:16] know what it is by me referring to [8:19] breast sizes and that is of course Sund [8:24] days almost every romance anime that I [8:28] have seen has had a Sund day in it I I [8:31] can't even right at this moment I can't [8:33] even think of a romance anime that I [8:35] have seen that doesn't have a suay [8:38] character and even if they didn't one [8:41] character will display Sunday like [8:44] characteristics or has a sun day like [8:47] personality but might not be considered [8:49] a full suer day but they are just [8:52] prevalent especially in romantic comedy [8:55] animes and to name all of the sun days [8:58] that I know I mean will be be here [9:00] forever forever there are just too many [9:03] to name not only that I hate that in [9:07] most romantic comedy animes and [9:09] sometimes even in most romance animes [9:11] the main character ends up with the [9:13] sunnd day I mean almost like seven times [9:16] out of 10 he will end up with the soon [9:18] today character of the anime and I'm [9:20] like why there's that girl and that girl [9:24] she's more interesting than her why [9:26] would you go with the suer day such a [9:28] cop out that in itself is a cliche hell [9:31] you can make a whole another top 10 list [9:34] on cliches with soon today characters [9:36] that's how cliché sunnd days are in [9:39] Romance animes but I bet a lot of you [9:41] are shocked not to see sunnd days at the [9:44] number one spot and that's because there [9:46] is another cliche in Romance animes that [9:50] not only are just really annoying but I [9:52] [ __ ] hate them these are the worst [9:55] cliches to have in a romance animes I [9:57] cannot stand this cliche and that is [10:02] melodramatic [10:05] endings every romance anime except for [10:08] one there was one that didn't have it it [10:11] was all my goddess it actually ended on [10:13] a really comedic note and I loved it it [10:15] bucked the trend because almost every [10:17] romance anime at that point and from [10:20] beyond that point too always ended on a [10:23] melodramatic note like something just [10:26] over the top happens or characters [10:28] become really sad and I hate it when [10:31] it's like romantic comedy animes that [10:33] have been relatively funny and enjoyable [10:35] and Lively automatically just turn [10:38] really dark and somber and sad it really [10:41] kills the mood of the anime you're like [10:44] man I was having so much fun then that [10:48] happened I don't really want to watch [10:50] this anymore it is the only cliche on [10:53] this list that I absolutely cannot stand [10:56] I want it gone I don't want to see it [10:58] any anymore in Romance animes especially [11:01] my romantic comedies keep that [ __ ] out [11:04] of the romantic comedies and on a much [11:07] lighter note why does it have to end in [11:10] such a melodramatic [11:12] fashion that was a tiate if ever there [11:15] was one and that's why melodramatic [11:18] endings are the number one cliches in [11:22] Romance animes and that ladies and [11:25] gentlemen was my list of the top 10 [11:27] cliches in Romance anime and I would [11:30] like to know what you guys thought about [11:31] my list did you agree with it did you [11:33] disagree with it did you feel like I [11:34] left any cliches out cuz I'm pretty sure [11:37] that I did and let me know what is a [11:40] cliche that you see a lot in romance [11:42] anime that you just cannot stand anymore [11:45] and you want it to just go away forever [11:47] comment below and let me know and [11:50] romance month guys is off to a great [11:53] start I'm so excited I
