[0:00] Welcome to the Heavy Spoiler Show. I'm your  host, Paul, aka your friendly neighborhood   [0:04] spoiler man. In this video, we're  breaking down Spider-Man: Brand New Day. [0:11] With a brand new trailer just being released,  I thought we'd do a video breaking down some of   [0:15] the biggest unanswered questions about the movie.  Throughout this video, we'll be going through the   [0:19] teaser's biggest mysteries and hopefully clearing  up what you've heard about the movie. Now,   [0:23] the first thing I want to talk about is the  inclusion of Greyhulk. This is something that's   [0:27] been rumored for quite a while now. Um, with it  being reported as early as the start of the year.   [0:31] Posters then started leaking as well, which showed  the Hulk had a slightly gray coloring to him.   [0:36] Though the company behind them came out and said  this was simply a printing error, this did nothing   [0:40] but add fuel to the fire. The trailer then leaked  with the Hulk looking gray with this being down at   [0:45] the preial effects. So, the debate raged on. Now,  in our breakdown, we did talk about the two sides   [0:50] of the coin and how it might just be a number of  errors. The printing could definitely be the case   [0:55] and the finished trailer show that the Hulk was  indeed green. But rumors have persisted and due to   [1:00] the Hulk returning to his more savage form, they  could be going back to the character's roots. Now,   [1:04] in case you don't know, the Hulk was originally  colored gray and this was due to ink prices. If   [1:09] you go back to the old copies, um you'll see him  in his big gray form, and this was then homaged   [1:14] by Jeff Loe and Tim Sail in the book Hulk Gray.  I have that book here with it kind of going back   [1:19] to the character's roots and exploring why Hulk  gray. Before the Hulk was green, there was Hulk   [1:25] gray as it says on the back. And personally,  I do think it was likely just errors and that   [1:30] the stuff with the trailer was yeah, all just  previsual. But who knows, Marvel might even end up   [1:35] turning the character gray. And we have seen how  they've changed effects in trailers before. Hell,   [1:39] even the original Homecoming trailer has loads  of shots of Spider-Man with Iron Man that aren't   [1:44] in the final movie. But the scoopers have  walked back the reports though. So yeah,   [1:48] I do lean more towards the Hulk being green  throughout the movie. But if he is gray,   [1:52] I think that would be such a cool touch. They  did a big Fandango thing yesterday where the   [1:56] cast kind of touched upon it. And judging by  the poker faces, I think the Hulk might be gray,   [2:01] mate. Hulk is green. No, the Is he though? I don't  know. I don't know. Why do you think there's other   [2:11] There's other colors. There are. Yeah, there's  other colors of them here. I didn't say that,   [2:15] by the way. They said that. So, I'm  getting hacked. You poor dear. I'm sorry. [2:26] Either way, the pair fighting creates such a good  dynamic as both are battling the monster within   [2:30] them. Spidey even remarks that the Hulk's gotten  bigger, which could play the character mutating as   [2:35] well. The Hulk represents losing control, and this  is all something that could happen with Peter.   [2:40] Now, this video is sponsored by the DC Studio  Showcase Podcast. Massive thank you to the DC Studio  podcast as well for sponsoring this video. Now,   [4:08] let's get back into the breakdown. Now, the  second big question is what's really going on   [4:13] with Peter's mutation? The new trailer heavily  emphasizes his genetic evolution, and we've got   [4:18] his powers going to the next level. He's developed  organic webbing, has black insect-l like eyes, and   [4:23] is seemingly stronger than he's ever been before.  Tom Holland has actually described this as his   [4:28] spider puberty with the pressure of the job making  him evolve. We do know that the web shooters will   [4:32] have a green light on them, too, and that he's  going to try and suppress this much like the Hulk   [4:36] does. Banner, of course, uses his wrist inhibitor  to stay human, which helps suppress his mutation.   [4:42] Now, this might simply be Peter revolving as the  first trailer said that all spiders have three   [4:47] life cycles. However, I do wonder as well if it's  going to have us go into the man spider story,   [4:51] which comes from the comics and animated series. I  think that having Peter fully morph into a spider   [4:56] would be such a big way to take things, especially  since the films about him wrestling with his   [5:01] identity. Peter Parker no more is what they're  kind of tackling with him fully embracing the   [5:06] spider persona. I think they could take that  to the next level, though, and show that in him   [5:10] becoming more like Spider-Man, he becomes a man  spider. doing this would just add so much horror   [5:17] to the story because yeah, it's a spider. It's  scary in general for some people. Not me because   [5:21] I'm big. I always get the spider out the house.  I am the biggest guy in the the house. But yeah,   [5:26] I think uh if they did that, they could really  do some body horror stuff as well. And yeah,   [5:30] we might even end up with a man spider trilogy. If  not, then the Venom story line's also perfect for   [5:35] this as well. The symbiote is currently out there  in the world, and the black eyes are akin to what   [5:39] Tom Hardy's version gained at certain points of  his films. So, either or could really be in the   [5:44] place to enhance his abilities. And yeah, hell,  give us a man spider venom, mate. Give it. Do it   [5:50] now. Do it. Now, another big mystery around the  movie is well, not really a mystery cuz I think   [5:55] it's pretty obvious now. Uh, but the the big  question is who is Sadie Sync playing? We We   [6:00] don't know. Now, based off the recent trailer,  uh it's pretty much all but been confirmed to be   [6:05] Gan Gray. Hell, even when the movie was announced,  there were rumors that Gene would be in the movie,   [6:10] and Sink being cast just seemed to cement this.  We also know she's got a several picture deal,   [6:15] and therefore won't just be a oneanddone villain.  Red hair, green, and yellow color schemes,   [6:20] they all added weight to the theory. And  yes, seeing her powers in these new looks,   [6:24] it's got to be it got to be Gene, mate. Well,  put the house on it. Not only can she possess   [6:28] extremely powerful figures like Hulk and Scorpion,  but she's also able to freeze people in place.   [6:33] Blasts like this have been done by Gene in the  comics and TV shows. And yeah, I think all the   [6:38] signs are pointing to the X-Men. Now, we are going  to be fair, mate. Uh, we will be fair and talk   [6:43] about how she may be Shatra, who's a spider queen  that possesses psychic powers. Gene is portrayed   [6:48] as an antagonist in the teasers and she's clearly  threatening MJ. So, yeah, I don't know if that's   [6:54] in character for Gene, even if she's been pushed  to her lowest point. To be fair though, who it is   [6:58] characteristic for is the Phoenix, which is the  entity that's of course buried within her. So,   [7:03] they may even set up the Dark Phoenix storyline  here for down the line and a third time lucky,   [7:08] mate. Just do not get Simon Kinberg involved in  any way. I beg you. Also, wonder what Jean's real   [7:14] goal is. Personally, I think the film will show  her as being persecuted and have damage control   [7:20] constantly on her back. This has likely pushed  her towards having to act against the law out   [7:24] of necessity. sort of like Sylvie and Loki where  the [ __ ] TVA is just always chasing her down.   [7:30] If that's the case though, in order to survive,  she just has to keep running and ultimately this   [7:35] will get people hurt. So, I do feel like the film  might culminate with her going to the ex mansion   [7:39] where she'll finally find a home amongst the  mutants. This will mean that she's no longer on   [7:44] the run and can finally be at peace. Think Traml  Tilman's character will likely be revealed as the   [7:49] baddie and he could even be using villains like  Scorpion as part of his arsenal. In the comics,   [7:53] Matt Gogggin was given a suit by J. Jonah Jameson,  as this would be a way for him to go and get   [7:58] Spider-Man. So, Goen being armed up to fight for  damage control could also explain why he's already   [8:04] out of jail. What you mean it's been 9 years  since Homecoming. Oh god. The teaser also ends   [8:10] with Spider-Man fighting SWAT team members that  I don't think are possessed by Gan. Uh but yeah,   [8:15] maybe maybe Spider-Man turns against them to  help her. Now, how Peter is able to withstand   [8:20] her abilities may tie to his spider sense,  which is potentially also a vault. We talked   [8:24] about this in our breakdown of the trailer, but  just in case you missed it, uh I brought up how   [8:28] No Way Home kind of gave the answer. There, Peter  was pushed out of his body by Doctor Strange, but   [8:34] his physical form still kept him from danger. His  spider sense was working on autopilot and making   [8:40] it so that Strange couldn't grab the box. So, do  wonder if this spider sense basically autopilots   [8:45] his brain and means that he can't be controlled by  others. Also wonder how this is going to play into   [8:50] the grandest scheme of things and it'll likely  heighten the stakes for Peter. From what we've   [8:54] seen, he's been fighting lower level criminals and  just kind of being the street level neighborhood   [9:00] Spider-Man again. But as powerful as Scorpion is  as well, he's not this like omega level threat   [9:05] that Gene could bring in. I do wonder how the  landscape of New York's going to be explored   [9:09] and if this will be due to the fallout of Kingpin  leaving the city. The power vacuum could lead to   [9:14] all the baddies trying to seize control and this  might be why the hands involved as well. They   [9:18] seem to be in a damage control prison, further  hinding to Peter going against the organization,   [9:23] but I think the constant attacks could heighten  the necessity. You might also notice that in the   [9:27] trailer, Punisher seems to be unaffected by the  wave as well. Though there has been the theory   [9:31] that he's been put under control, you can actually  see that the wave stops right before it hits him.   [9:36] If you look at the people behind him, you might  also notice that they're running away from it. So,   [9:39] I think the blast stops just before it hits Frank  rather than him having some ability that also   [9:44] makes him immune. I think it it is important  that Peter is the only one who can do this for   [9:49] the plot. And if you look at the wave, you can  see that it stops just before hitting him. Now,   [9:53] the next big question is, will MJ and Ned break  the illusion? Well, in our previous videos,   [9:59] we talked about how we think they'll find the key  to the city. We know from the trailers that Peter   [10:03] gets presented this by the mayor and that he  also has this in his apartment. So I think the   [10:08] pair might discover this. However, I also think  that subliminally the spell is something that   [10:13] both are kind of sort of breaking out of. Ned has  a full wall of Spider-Man pictures and is trying   [10:19] to find out who he is so he can thank him. But I  think deep down he's probably doing it because he   [10:24] just wants to be back with his mate. As for MJ,  her new boyfriend's rumored to also be Boomerang.   [10:29] And it could show that sublimly she longs for a  man to mask. I think if Peter takes her swinging   [10:34] throughout the city, it might also jog some  memories and that she might start to remember   [10:38] things. Also wonder what the broader implication  of the movie is going to be in terms of where   [10:43] we leave things with Doomsday. From what we can  gather, Peter won't be in it. So I wonder if the   [10:48] film ends with implications that remove him from  the picture. If you've been paying attention to   [10:52] the updates on the film, then you'll know they've  said test audiences were divided on the ending.   [10:57] Apparently, it's supposed to be quite da and yeah,  might leave Peter in a peculiar place that means   [11:03] he can't be in doomsday. The biggest unanswered  question, though, is who the [ __ ] is working   [11:08] in security at Sony? I And I just want to make  it clear, it is not my uncle. But yeah, it seems   [11:14] every week um something new leaking and I actually  feel quite bad for them cuz I can imagine behind   [11:20] the scenes it's a [ __ ] nightmare. There was  even rumors that the entire movie had been leaked   [11:25] and was being sold and stuff and it's just like  at this point mate like come on give the guys a   [11:31] chance. I know I do spoilers and stuff as well but  I don't report on everything I hear and just just   [11:37] going crazy out there on the internet.
