[0:00] young creators are burning out it is no [0:03] surprise that you're gonna see headlines [0:05] from the new york times cnn and more [0:08] with big bold headlines saying that [0:10] creators are burning out right we're [0:12] getting this news from some of our [0:13] favorite media we're seeing titles like [0:15] young creators are burning out and [0:17] breaking down or youtube's top creators [0:20] are breaking down in mass i think that [0:23] this is a really important topic [0:25] especially as a creator-centric channel [0:27] here at sidewalker daily we are speaking [0:29] to the creator and we need to speak [0:31] about burnout it's rampant in our [0:34] industry i'm seeing it happen to so many [0:36] of the creators in my community so [0:39] what i want to do for today's video is i [0:41] really want to talk about like what it [0:43] is how to know if you have it um why [0:45] it's happening and then dig into some [0:47] solutions [0:49] some solutions that i think are tried [0:51] and true because we are getting feedback [0:54] from creators who have suffered from [0:56] burnout and are coming back and being [0:58] like this was this is what i did um and [1:01] especially as you know again a channel [1:03] that is dedicated to the creator i want [1:05] to make sure that we nip this in the [1:08] butt before you even get burned out so [1:10] hopefully you can watch this video [1:11] before you're on burnout um to prevent [1:14] it from actually happening now in terms [1:16] of a definition for a creator when a [1:18] creator is going through burnout they [1:20] are really feeling highly unmotivated [1:22] the things that they used to love to do [1:25] they no longer like to do [1:27] we have seen depression being linked to [1:29] depression um being linked to a loss of [1:32] energy just overall a feeling of feeling [1:36] burned out i mean that's why the word is [1:38] called burnout right like feeling like [1:40] you have nothing left to give um and [1:43] it's really obviously [1:45] strongly linked to mental health it's [1:47] something that [1:48] the need for creators to be constantly [1:51] posting constantly doing it and we'll [1:53] get into that in a little bit but it's [1:55] without a doubt that if you don't take [1:57] care of yourself and set up some [1:58] boundaries you are going to burn out [2:00] it's not a matter of if but when if [2:03] you're not protecting yourself [2:05] and creating systems that will protect [2:07] you from getting there now think about [2:09] how many people identify as creators [2:11] know whether it's a youtuber tick talker [2:14] instagrammer on twitch twitter like [2:17] linkedin creators are on all platforms [2:20] producing massive amounts of content a [2:22] day we know that you know creator [2:25] burnout is something that so many people [2:27] deal what will that look like for our [2:29] society in a whole right if we don't [2:31] take measures to prevent it and to do [2:34] the work now ahead of time i think that [2:36] for the outsider when you're not in a [2:38] creator you know when you're not a [2:39] creator they think being a creator is [2:41] like so glamorous it's so fun oh my gosh [2:43] you just post content for a living but [2:45] you guys and i know that that is not the [2:47] truth right that it is so much more than [2:50] what meets the video what meets the eye [2:51] what meets the post it's coming up with [2:54] the concept shooting it editing it [2:57] shooting it again because you messed up [2:59] um you know all the things of producing [3:01] the actual content and that's just the [3:03] tip of the iceberg right because [3:06] the more and more creators are doing [3:07] this full-time and doing this as a [3:09] business then they have to deal with the [3:10] avalanche of being an entrepreneur and a [3:12] business owner i always say creators [3:15] don't realize that they're actually [3:16] entrepreneurs and business owners they [3:18] kind of just think that they're these [3:19] like creative little beings but in fact [3:21] you are building a business right that [3:23] means taxes that means all the [3:25] administrative work that requires [3:27] setting up a business and running one [3:29] and hiring people and outsourcing and [3:32] like literally all the things right [3:34] comes to no surprise that so many [3:35] creators are feeling like the sense of [3:38] overwhelm but don't worry because [3:39] today's video is going to give you some [3:42] good insights on how to prevent it from [3:44] happening i do want to state that i am [3:46] not a believer in quick fixes i don't [3:48] think like taking a day off um is going [3:51] to relieve you of burnout [3:54] a lot of times it requires doing a [3:55] little bit more self digging and [3:57] understanding the symptoms of it um [3:59] instead of you know i don't think it's [4:01] just taking some time to realize that [4:04] you really need to self-analyze like why [4:06] are you feeling this way um and then [4:09] come up with a plan and i'm gonna help [4:10] you and start recognizing the patterns [4:12] that are leading to your burnout i think [4:14] the biggest sign of burnout is when you [4:16] don't want to do something that you used [4:17] to love doing right that's like the [4:20] biggest one yes there's depression lack [4:21] of motivation um we're seeing all those [4:24] other symptoms but i think if you love [4:26] doing something like if you loved [4:27] posting on tick tock and now it's like i [4:29] don't want to post another video like if [4:31] you're getting to there [4:33] that is not a good sign i think that's [4:35] what it looks like um when you are [4:37] really feeling that sense of dread of [4:39] doing the things that once brought you [4:40] so much happiness [4:42] and again let's talk about why creators [4:44] are facing burnout right the number one [4:46] reason being this unrealistic [4:48] expectation to produce on every platform [4:51] um producing for so many platforms is [4:54] really really tiring producing for one [4:56] is tiring enough imagine having to [4:59] produce for all of them i think there's [5:00] just also like a fear of the algorithm [5:03] like if you don't post you're not gonna [5:05] you know the algorithm is gonna punish [5:07] you whether it be the youtube algorithm [5:08] or their tic talk or instagram like [5:09] there's this fear of algorithm and [5:11] there's also this fear just kind of [5:13] missing out like will i be forgotten if [5:15] i don't post will people even care will [5:17] i be replaced by another person i think [5:20] so many people like they're watching [5:22] they're spending their time on tick tock [5:23] and they're seeing all these other tick [5:24] tockers so they're like if i don't post [5:26] you know they're going to get the [5:27] attention or the business or the leads [5:30] or whatever so there is a sense of like [5:32] seeing other people do it and doing it [5:34] so freely and like this constant [5:37] comparison game that's what's driving us [5:39] to go on this you know mode of having to [5:42] constantly create there's this huge [5:45] sense of competition on social we all do [5:47] it we all say oh look they're doing so [5:49] much more than us oh look they're on [5:51] tick tock and we're not oh look they're [5:52] on this and we're not so we have to do [5:54] it we have to push ourselves we have to [5:56] you know participate and this will lead [5:58] to burnout if you don't have the systems [6:00] in place so let's go ahead and talk [6:02] about some solutions um that are going [6:04] to help you the creator prevent this [6:06] from happening and if it's already [6:07] currently happening to you hopefully it [6:09] will provide you with some questions [6:11] answered and some relief so the first [6:13] step is obviously recognizing it right [6:15] being like okay [6:17] i am burnt out this is no longer working [6:19] for me um and in this moment you know [6:22] depending on the severity of your [6:23] burnout you are going to want to hit [6:25] pause you need to hit pause because you [6:27] need to find clarity to think all the [6:29] things that you're afraid of fomo and [6:31] the algorithm and all of that i'm here [6:33] to tell you it can wait your mental [6:35] health comes first you are nothing [6:37] without your sanity so if you're gonna [6:38] break down and you're not gonna even [6:40] have a platform to post on if you're [6:42] like not physically well so the first [6:45] step is obviously we're gonna need to [6:46] take a break and take pause the second [6:48] thing i want you to do during this pause [6:50] is take a look at your habits where are [6:52] you spending most of your time on um are [6:55] you on your phone all the time you know [6:57] is there a way for you to track it to [6:58] see how much time you're spending on [7:00] your phone is this sucking up your [7:02] energy and your drain and causing you to [7:04] get into that competitive space i know [7:07] for me like i always put my phone in the [7:09] drawer during certain hours of the day [7:11] there are even apps out there we just [7:13] found the forest app that you can put to [7:15] like kind of help you be more productive [7:17] and focus and not spend the time again [7:20] that the phone can end up doing and [7:21] bringing us in take a look at your [7:23] habits in the sense of what do you do [7:24] for fun outside of work outside of [7:26] content are you meditating are you [7:28] spending time with friends and not [7:30] shooting content um what are you [7:32] investing your time in in your habits [7:34] because a lot of maybe your burnout is [7:36] coming from your poor habits right maybe [7:38] you're just constantly in this space of [7:41] content content content and what you [7:42] need to do is kind of outline okay this [7:44] is my content time and then this is my [7:46] off time you know you may want to look [7:47] into meditation or a morning routine or [7:50] something that is completely quiet time [7:53] and allows you the time you need to fuel [7:55] your engine so for me at sidewalker one [7:57] of the things that i started this year [7:58] was a really good morning routine a 5 [8:01] a.m challenge i did it with the [8:02] sidewalker daily inner circle community [8:04] and it's been really really great [8:06] because during that time i am not [8:08] working it is not work time when i'm up [8:10] at five it is not work time it's growth [8:12] time it's reading it's journaling it's [8:14] meditating it's all the things that help [8:16] me in entrepreneurship um that fuel my [8:19] engine so that i can be better at work [8:22] if you guys are interested in any of [8:23] those sort of topics also let me know in [8:25] the comments below if you'd like to [8:27] learn more about routines and systems [8:29] that i personally use i'd love to create [8:31] that type of content if you guys are [8:33] interested in it the third thing that i [8:35] think is going to help you if you are [8:36] going through or if you're going if you [8:38] feel like you're approaching burnout [8:40] is to create some space between you and [8:42] your work right so not only is it doing [8:44] activities but a lot of times [8:46] because you are your brand a lot of my [8:48] creators and influencers they are [8:50] forward-facing they are their own brands [8:52] what happens is you get too emotionally [8:54] attached and you need to create space [8:56] between your physical persona and what [8:59] you post online you have to remember you [9:01] are not your work and you need to [9:03] basically be focusing on the things that [9:05] bring you joy that bring you excitement [9:08] that light your soul on fire [9:10] and find a way to delegate the rest [9:12] especially if you're growing as a [9:14] creator this is like a really important [9:15] transition you're going to need to [9:18] invest in help [9:19] and i don't mean like mental health help [9:21] that could be something as well but i [9:22] mean help like get someone to help you [9:25] with the things that you don't want to [9:26] do and spend most of your time in the [9:28] areas that you are really good at now [9:30] i'm not gonna go like you know sugar [9:32] coat it as a business owner creator [9:34] entrepreneur you will need to do things [9:36] that you don't like to do right that's [9:38] just in all businesses the question is [9:40] is how long are you doing those for and [9:43] are you able to get someone to support [9:46] you in those tasks so that you can do [9:49] what you're really good at because if [9:51] you're focusing on what you're really [9:52] good at that's going to bring you in the [9:54] most money and help your bottom line [9:56] this comes to my next tip for burning [9:58] out to helping prevent burnout is [9:59] delegating tasks again as a creator you [10:02] want to do it all you want to do every [10:03] single piece of your business but you [10:05] need to let go this is how you scale [10:07] this is how you grow you need to let go [10:11] get people to help you delegate tasks [10:13] you know whether it's joining you know a [10:15] fiverr or finding someone on upwork or [10:17] getting an assistant or whatever it is [10:19] delegate delegate delegate get stuff off [10:22] your you know table um in order for you [10:24] to flourish now if you're like i don't [10:26] have the money to do so um you have to [10:29] again think of this as a business you [10:30] need to invest [10:32] in this and the time and the money that [10:34] you invest in having someone help you [10:36] should be time that you are putting [10:38] towards generating more revenue a huge [10:41] way to help prevent burnout i have seen [10:43] is join a community of people like you [10:46] um here at sidewalker daily we have a [10:48] creator community it's called the inner [10:50] circle i'm obsessed with it we have [10:52] weekly calls we're always in base and [10:55] creators will come being like yeah i [10:56] feel like really unproductive [10:59] and that's okay right you have a safe [11:01] space to kind of vent you have a safe [11:03] space to see other creators that also [11:05] may feel like how you do you need to [11:06] find your people your tribe um you can't [11:09] do it alone okay you can't be in a [11:11] little room creating content all day [11:12] alone you need your humans that is [11:14] what's going to help you push through [11:16] especially when you feel super down and [11:19] low and again i will leave a link to our [11:21] inner circle it is a waitlist program [11:24] but go ahead and sign up the waitlist is [11:25] always opening it's on a rolling [11:27] admission so go ahead and sign up so you [11:29] can be a part of our community i think [11:31] another great way to help a creator when [11:33] they are [11:34] experiencing either burnout or getting [11:36] close to it is think about you know an [11:38] accomplishment [11:39] think about something that used to [11:41] excite you in your biz [11:43] and a lot of times it's like finding [11:44] inspiration inspiration is not something [11:47] that i don't think will just come to you [11:49] you have to go look for it i find it [11:52] really hard getting inspired in my [11:53] office on my desk sitting looking at the [11:55] computer [11:56] it's just not my zone right i'm inspired [11:59] when i'm out in nature when i'm out when [12:00] i'm in new places around art around [12:02] creative people smart people networking [12:05] that's when i'm inspired that's when i [12:06] feel alive so you need to find where do [12:09] you feel alive [12:10] where does the inspiration come to you [12:12] where and next time you are in a moment [12:14] of inspo and you feel those floodgates [12:16] coming in and you're like on a high [12:18] remember it so you can go back and [12:20] revisit it when you are feeling again a [12:22] bit down anyways guys i know today's [12:24] topic was a tough one and i hope that if [12:26] you are [12:27] feeling any sense of burnout you are [12:29] getting the help that you need whether [12:31] it be professional help or business [12:33] support um make sure that you do invest [12:35] in yourself because remember without [12:37] your sanity you are nothing and the [12:38] platform is nothing and it all means [12:40] nothing if you're not doing well [12:42] i hope you guys enjoyed today's video [12:44] let me know in the comments what you've [12:46] done to prevent burnout in the past for [12:48] you you never know who you're inspiring [12:50] along the way leave that comment we can [12:52] all learn and share together and i will [12:54] see you guys in the next video
