Moving on, Sony now seems to be placing advisory stickers on PlayStation 5 consoles warning players that physical [01:32] games will be discontinued in the not too distant future. One such sticker was spotted on the back of a PS5 box and shared to social media yesterday with a message that reads, "Important notice. From January 2028, newly released games [01:44] on PlayStation will be available for purchase on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital format only. Discs released before January 2028 can If true, this is just another sign that Sony isn't reversing its plans to phase [01:58] out physical game discs. Its chief financial officer, Lin Tao, effectively erased all doubts about its intent to pursue an all-digital future during an investor focused Q&A in late July. She said, "We put in a lot of thought [02:10] this, and we came to this conclusion, and we're going to cautiously move this Speaking of the physical versus digital debate, Resident Evil and Monster Hunter of an impact from the death of physical [02:24] game sales as the vast majority of its titles are already sold digitally. investor Q&A, Capcom replied to a question asking whether the publisher would be impacted by the shrinking physical game market. Capcom said, [02:37] "Approximately 90% of our unit sales are digital. We do not anticipate a significant impact at this time." Interestingly, Nintendo said in its own financial results today that its ratio of digital sales to physical rose [02:50] slightly by 2.2 points to 61.5%. Though this is still much lower than that Nintendo fans, in particular, enjoy for younger players who can share games between family members and friends.
