i timed every single thing I did for 30 days Brushing my teeth eating working even going to the bathroom After being really unproductive for months I wanted to try to figure out a way to increase my output and take better control of my time I experimented with a dozen apps to get started and settled on one called Toggle to help me track everything that I do in a given day The results I realized I was only working 20 hours per week This is just like way worse than I possibly thought it could be If I had a boss I'd probably be fired by now The reason is because I ran this experiment in the first year of becoming a parent So a significant amount of my time was going towards my family and I had a hard time prioritizing work Not exactly a bad thing but going forward this is helping me get more intentional and helping me shift my behavior a little bit But also I spent 4 hours on the toilet this month so maybe I can steal some time from those tasks as well Tracking my time has helped me to become more accountable to how I'm spending my time every single day
