اس سونامی کے بعد جاپان نے اس پورے ساحل پر تین سو پچاس کلومیٹر لمبی کہیں پر دس میٹر اور کہیں پر پندرہ میٹر اونچی سریعے اور کنکریٹ کی دیوار کھڑی کر دی ہے اور یہ دیوار اتنی مضبوط بنائی گئی ہے
کہ لہروں کو توڑ کے رکھ دیتی ہے اور انجینئرز کا کہنا ہے کہ یہ دیوار سونامی کی سپیڈ کو آدھا کر دیتی ہے اور اس سے بھی بڑھ کر جاپان نے صرف یہ دیوار نہیں بنائی بلکہ اس پورے ساحل پر لاکھوں کی تعداد میں دوبارہ سے درخت بھی اگا دیئے ہیں
