[0:04] this video is different because these [0:06] are analytics that you can use even if [0:07] your channel is literally Brand New by [0:10] showing you what I'm doing with a [0:11] channel that started days ago howdy [0:14] howdy everyone Nate here the First [0:15] YouTube analytic we're going to be [0:16] looking at here is your suggested video [0:19] traffic and I'm going to be showing you [0:20] with a client's channel that just [0:22] started days ago here's why we're going [0:24] to be using suggested videos because it [0:26] gives you an early indicator of whether [0:28] your channel is being classified [0:30] correctly by the algorithm and we can do [0:32] that even with a channel like this that [0:33] has 129 views uh 10 subscribers and 2.6 [0:37] hours of watch time so what you're going [0:39] to do is Click analytics then click [0:41] content up here at the top and you're [0:42] going to scroll down to this box how [0:44] viewers find your videos and we're going [0:46] to click suggested videos now what this [0:48] shows is as of right now on this channel [0:50] about 50% of all the total traffic on [0:52] the channel is coming from these [0:54] suggested videos YouTube is suggesting [0:56] these videos from this channel to other [0:58] viewers of other channels videos and I'm [1:01] going to show you why this is so [1:02] significant by sharing a crazy story [1:05] here you see with Chris who owns this [1:07] channel we each independently did a form [1:09] of auditing our Niche auditing the niche [1:12] that we're trying to Target with this [1:13] Channel and if you want to know how to [1:14] do that on your own channel I made a [1:16] video about it I'm going to put up here [1:17] for you to watch after this we each came [1:18] up with a list of competitors or [1:21] channels that had the audience we wanted [1:22] to capture with this channel now there [1:25] was overlap between the two lists that [1:27] we created which was already cool to see [1:29] but then when we came to the suggested [1:31] videos on this channel brand new channel [1:34] look at what we found if you go down [1:36] here and you click see more you're going [1:38] to pull up this which gives you a list [1:42] of all of the videos suggesting your [1:45] videos so stepping back here why this is [1:47] so significant these videos each of the [1:50] videos on this list are a video that [1:52] already existed on YouTube that the [1:54] algorithm has seen and said this new [1:57] channel this channel we're looking at [1:58] right now has a video and we think that [2:01] it might be similar to the videos on [2:04] this other already existing Channel it [2:06] might be similar enough to suggest it in [2:08] the sidebar if they're watching on [2:10] desktop or below the video if they [2:11] scroll down on mobile so here you can [2:13] see the total Impressions given to these [2:16] similar videos as well as the [2:17] clickthrough rate and the actual amount [2:19] of views garnered from these videos that [2:21] already exist on YouTube here is why [2:23] this is so valuable to me those lists [2:25] you remember those lists that Chris and [2:26] I came up with that we were targeting [2:28] these audiences on YouTube then number [2:30] of videos here that were from those [2:32] channels was mindblowing meaning we had [2:35] intentionally targeted these areas with [2:37] the content the metadata and the topics [2:39] the titles and thumbnails of videos that [2:41] we produced to match these already [2:43] existing audiences so we could quickly [2:45] show the YouTube algorithm this is our [2:48] audience on YouTube this this is the [2:50] audience we're trying to Target because [2:52] we're trying to help them out and what [2:53] the suggested list is showing us or [2:55] showing you even if you have a very [2:57] small channel is how clear clearly the [3:00] algorithm is classifying your content [3:02] and as I scroll through this list of [3:03] suggested videos that the YouTube [3:04] algorithm is serving this Channel's [3:06] content to at least 90% of them are [3:09] exactly on point let me put it this way [3:11] if you have a larger Channel with a more [3:13] significant volume of views on your [3:15] channel YouTube adds some very important [3:17] and interesting boxes to your analytics [3:19] one being other videos your audience is [3:21] watching most recently and two being [3:23] other channels your audience is watching [3:25] small YouTube channels unfortunately [3:27] don't have access to those until they [3:29] get a critical mass of viewership but [3:31] what they do have what you do have is [3:34] this so let's get into some actions here [3:35] as you're looking at this on your own [3:36] channel here's what to do if you look at [3:38] these suggested videos and at least 70% [3:41] of them are not matching the type of [3:42] audience you're trying to gather on your [3:44] channel you need to make it more obvious [3:45] with your video content and one of the [3:47] best ways I have found to do that is [3:48] during the entire production of your [3:50] video think of it in terms of this what [3:52] is the audience I'm trying to match with [3:55] my video and let me make sure I make it [3:57] abundantly clear in the words I speak in [3:59] my video as well as the title and [4:01] thumbnail especially and the first line [4:03] of the description this is what this [4:05] video is about make it super super clear [4:08] to make sure your video as you're [4:09] targeting the metadata or the content of [4:11] the video itself does match the audience [4:13] you want all right it's time to move on [4:14] to the next analytic here first if [4:16] you're enjoying this video it's being [4:17] helpful or eye opening to you boop the [4:19] like button on it thank you for doing [4:20] that the next YouTube analytic we're [4:22] going to be looking at here especially [4:24] for new YouTubers or smaller channels is [4:28] the most replayed graph I'm going to [4:30] pull up one of my older videos to show [4:32] you this if you hover over a video and [4:34] you see the gray Hills and Valleys part [4:37] below the video now why is this so [4:39] useful especially for smaller YouTube [4:41] channels it's because you can do it even [4:42] if you don't have a YouTube channel you [4:44] see what you're going to do is after [4:45] you've audited your Niche and understood [4:47] your Niche better shout out to the video [4:49] you should watch after this all about [4:50] that but once you've identified these [4:52] channels is you can then go to their [4:54] videos and see which parts the audience [4:56] is liking the most this right here [4:58] literally shows which which parts of the [5:00] video the audience that watch this video [5:02] of all the thousands of views that [5:04] watched it which parts were watched the [5:06] most you can also use this on your own [5:08] videos as you get more viewership but [5:10] the main thing we're looking for here is [5:12] the high points especially on this [5:15] viewership I'm going to talk about what [5:16] to do with those high points here in a [5:17] moment but first I wanted to address the [5:19] opposite I have watched a lot of videos [5:21] that seem to have a pretty low Point [5:24] throughout most of the video in fact I [5:26] was trying to find an example so I could [5:27] show you here but many of these videos [5:29] have pretty low for the entirety of the [5:32] video now what does that mean does that [5:34] mean that most people don't like the [5:35] video I actually do not think that it [5:37] does a more flattened out Hills and [5:39] Valleys on this indicator more means [5:42] that people are choosing to watch for [5:43] continuous segments of the video they're [5:46] not jumping around as much which if [5:47] you're following me means that that [5:49] creator for the amount of views that [5:51] they have is retaining audience really [5:54] well but for the high points these are [5:55] some of the hints the reasons why you [5:57] see big spikes in videos first first if [5:59] there's chapters in the videos people [6:01] tend to jump from chapter to chapter [6:02] that might cause those high points two [6:04] if it's after a sponsored segment of the [6:06] video a lot of people skip ahead on [6:07] sponsored segments three if a visual is [6:10] being shown in the video people are more [6:12] likely to as they are scrubbing through [6:13] the video say oh there was something [6:15] something happened right there I'm going [6:17] to jump to that section four a joke was [6:19] shared that people need to go back and [6:20] watch again and five a peak moment or a [6:22] big reveal happening in the video all [6:24] right now we're on the bonus round I [6:26] debated including this in here but I'm [6:27] going to do it because it's just so dang [6:30] helpful what we're looking at is your [6:32] audience tab up here go ahead and click [6:34] audience this graph returning viewers [6:37] versus new viewers you've got to [6:39] understand this graph because it gives [6:40] you indicators of what to do next with [6:43] your content if your returning viewers [6:45] is consistently low it means people [6:47] aren't choosing to come back to your [6:48] channel so what do you do about that you [6:50] invite them to watch other videos on [6:52] your channel and you give them clear [6:53] reasons to watch the next video and if [6:56] you want a meta example of that well [6:58] what have I done earlier on in this [6:59] video go back and rewatch and see if you [7:00] can catch what I did but also what you [7:02] want to do here and not many people talk [7:04] about this is you want to make sure you [7:06] have a feeling of Welcome in your videos [7:09] that when people arrive to your videos [7:11] they can understand quickly what they're [7:13] about and feel like they're in the right [7:15] place and if it would be valuable to you [7:17] to have a whole video about what I just [7:18] said please do let me know all right now [7:20] if your new viewers is consistently low [7:22] or lower than your returning viewers [7:24] what that means is your channel isn't [7:26] growing I say that partially in just but [7:29] the reality is a YouTube channel that is [7:31] not acquiring new viewership is on a [7:33] steady decline so what you need to do if [7:35] you're seeing a consistently low amount [7:37] of new viewership is you have to Branch [7:40] out and start trying new ideas the [7:42] number of new viewers that are arriving [7:43] and using the YouTube platform [7:45] consistently goes up I'm not even [7:46] talking about new creators that are [7:48] trying to build or create or share [7:49] content I'm talking about viewership [7:51] just people watching YouTube that number [7:53] is always going up and attention is [7:54] always moving from one location to [7:56] another on YouTube so a channel that is [7:58] not a acquiring new viewership is [8:01] stagnating because of that okay so if [8:03] that's happening to you first try new [8:05] ideas try some fresh ideas to get new [8:07] audience in second improve the quality [8:09] of your videos if your videos aren't [8:10] showing good watch time or watch [8:12] percentage then that means that they [8:14] probably aren't as enjoyable as your [8:15] competitors so now I'm going to say it [8:18] everyone if you want to know the process [8:20] that Chris and I went through to get [8:21] these early wins of the suggested [8:23] traffic to that channel you're going to [8:25] want to watch this video [8:28] next [8:31] and hey don't forget to check out this [8:35] video
