[0:01] about YouTube monetization I'm going to
[0:03] cover the different ways that you can
[0:04] make money on YouTube itself once you
[0:07] meet the YouTube Partner program
[0:09] requirements now obviously there's other
[0:10] ways you can make money off the back of
[0:12] your YouTube channel as well and I've
[0:14] got links in the description if you want
[0:15] to dive further into that after this
[0:18] video so in this video we're looking at
[0:20] how YouTube itself pays you so in order
[0:22] to get paid by YouTube you do need to be
[0:24] in the YouTube Partner program and
[0:26] there's actually now two tiers of the
[0:29] program there is a a lower tier and a
[0:31] higher tier so to be eligible for the
[0:33] lower tier you do need to have 500
[0:35] subscribers you need to have three
[0:38] public video uploads in the last 90 days
[0:41] and you also need to have either 3,000
[0:43] public watch hours in the past 12 months
[0:46] or 3 million public shorts views in the
[0:49] last 90 days you also need to be in a
[0:51] country or region that supports the
[0:53] YouTube Partner program so once you've
[0:54] reached this level and you've applied to
[0:56] be in the program you've been accepted
[0:58] this is going to unlock supers for you
[1:01] so super chat super stickers and super
[1:04] thanks and this is really at the core of
[1:06] YouTube fan funding so your fans your
[1:09] followers your viewers have the ability
[1:11] to either donate to you via chat so
[1:14] super chat so while your live viewers of
[1:16] that live stream can send you a promoted
[1:19] or boosted chat message which also
[1:21] includes a tip or a donation for you as
[1:24] well with an amount that they specify on
[1:27] their end very similar to this is super
[1:29] stickers again again while you're live
[1:31] so you need to be doing a live stream
[1:32] that your viewers can send you a sticker
[1:36] which also has a monetary value
[1:38] associated with it again think a tip or
[1:40] donation from your viewers but it also
[1:43] unlocks super thanks which essentially
[1:45] gives you the ability to have that same
[1:47] capability but not while you're live so
[1:50] you can actually have a thanks button
[1:52] that will appear under your regular
[1:53] YouTube videos that at any time when
[1:55] someone's consuming your content they
[1:57] can click on that they can send you a
[1:59] message as you would a YouTube comment
[2:02] and they can specify how much money they
[2:04] want to donate or send you at that point
[2:07] and all of these super chats super
[2:09] stickers and super thanks they're all
[2:11] designed to stand out on your content as
[2:13] well so it highlights the viewer their
[2:15] message or their sticker so that they
[2:17] stand out there as well this lower tier
[2:19] of the YouTube Partner program also
[2:21] unlocks YouTube channel memberships
[2:23] think of this like your own patreon or
[2:26] buy me a coffee but built directly into
[2:29] YouTube so the way this works is you as
[2:31] the channel owner can enable Channel
[2:33] memberships and then you can create
[2:35] different tiers or monetary amounts that
[2:38] people will pay you on a recurring basis
[2:40] to be a channel member and each one of
[2:42] these tiers that you create could be
[2:44] different amounts but also offer
[2:46] different perks as YouTube calls them so
[2:49] a perk could be something like access to
[2:51] exclusive live streams access to
[2:53] exclusive Community posts exclusive
[2:56] content there's also ways to integrate
[2:58] this with external platforms as as well
[3:00] for even sharing course content or
[3:02] deeper dive stuff but this can be a
[3:04] great recurring Revenue model for you
[3:07] where it makes it easy for your viewers
[3:09] to support you if they like what you're
[3:11] doing and obviously to get access to
[3:13] some of these perks that you offer too
[3:15] that's probably worth noting that while
[3:16] you get access to all of these things at
[3:18] these different levels you definitely
[3:20] don't need to have them all set up and
[3:22] running you get to choose and that's
[3:24] what I love about this is that you can
[3:26] build the business or the revenue
[3:28] streams that you want off this so if
[3:30] YouTube channel memberships sounds like
[3:31] a nightmare for you to run and to set up
[3:34] all the perks or whatever then you don't
[3:36] need to do it but there's an opportunity
[3:38] there for you now in terms of the fan
[3:39] funding options that we've covered so
[3:41] far with Channel memberships and the
[3:43] supers you as the channel owner get to
[3:46] keep 70% of that Revenue after YouTube
[3:49] takes a 30% cut and the last thing that
[3:51] you unlock on this lower tier YouTube
[3:54] Partner program is YouTube shopping
[3:56] again only if this is actually
[3:58] functional and accessible in your
[4:00] country or region but this is where
[4:02] you'll have the ability to promote and
[4:03] sell your own products or merchandise
[4:06] directly on YouTube and when you set
[4:08] this up you can actually have your own
[4:09] products and things showing up beneath
[4:11] your videos but also while you're live
[4:13] too now to set this up this is where you
[4:15] will need to be using an approved
[4:16] platform something like Shopify there's
[4:19] other options as well and obviously have
[4:21] your products and everything set up for
[4:22] sale on that and it's going to create a
[4:24] link between the two for you so that's
[4:26] what's available right now in the lower
[4:28] tier of the YouTube Partner program but
[4:30] if you're in that program and you're
[4:32] progressing through your channel still
[4:33] growing then once you reach the
[4:36] requirements to enable the full tier you
[4:38] don't need to reapply because you're
[4:40] already in just those extra features are
[4:42] going to unlock so to be eligible to
[4:44] join the full YouTube Partner program
[4:46] the top tier this is where you will need
[4:48] to have 1,000 subscribers on your
[4:50] channel you'll need to have 4,000 hours
[4:53] of public watch time in the past 12
[4:55] months or you'll need to have 10 million
[4:58] valid public short views in the past 90
[5:01] days now your channel will also need to
[5:03] be in good standing with YouTube as well
[5:05] meaning that you're compliant with
[5:06] YouTube's monetization policies no
[5:09] Community guidelines strikes that you
[5:11] have an AdSense account set up as well
[5:13] but once you're in there and once you're
[5:14] accepted this is when you can turn on
[5:16] YouTube ad revenue and this is the most
[5:18] popular way that people make money from
[5:20] YouTube It's the biggest way that we
[5:22] make money from YouTube paying us
[5:24] themselves so in this higher tier
[5:26] obviously you get access to all of the
[5:28] supers the shopping and the memberships
[5:31] from the lower tier as well and you get
[5:33] to enable YouTube ads but this is also
[5:35] where you get extra revenue from things
[5:38] like YouTube premium so for anyone that
[5:39] is consuming your content that does have
[5:42] a YouTube premium account where they're
[5:44] not seeing ads then this is where your
[5:46] content can earn a portion of that
[5:48] subscription fee based on watch time and
[5:51] this is automatically set up and managed
[5:53] by YouTube themselves and you'll be able
[5:55] to view your earnings from ad revenue
[5:57] and from YouTube premium Revenue in your
[6:00] YouTube analytics now in terms of a
[6:02] revenue split or cut from the ad side of
[6:05] YouTube this is where it's around 55%
[6:07] that the creators get to have whereas
[6:09] the rest the 45 goes to YouTube
[6:12] obviously that's after fees and
[6:13] everything as well YouTube are also
[6:15] currently testing and slowly rolling out
[6:18] YouTube shopping Affiliates for people
[6:20] in the higher partner program as well so
[6:22] with this you don't need to have your
[6:24] own products that you can use with
[6:26] YouTube shopping your own merchandise or
[6:28] whatever this gives the ability to
[6:30] promote and to help sell other products
[6:32] and things that you don't own that you
[6:34] don't need to have in a warehouse and
[6:36] ship out or any of that stuff you can be
[6:38] an affiliate for these products so if
[6:40] you're mentioning them in your video
[6:42] then they can show up below it where
[6:44] people can buy that product from Amazon
[6:46] or wherever it is and you can earn an
[6:48] affiliate commission from that too I
[6:49] think this is absolutely awesome and I
[6:51] can't wait to get access we don't have
[6:53] access yet I think right now this is
[6:55] only in the US but I really love the
[6:57] opportunity here for this and with
[6:59] YouTube shopping in general and it
[7:01] sounds like from what I've heard they've
[7:02] got a big push for this coming on the TV
[7:05] side of things too fingers crossed so
[7:07] those are the ways right now that you
[7:08] can make money from YouTube itself but
[7:11] there's other ways that you can make
[7:12] money from your YouTube channel and I've
