I swapped my smartphone for a flip phone for 30 days. If you're anything like me you're tired of letting your phone run your life. First thing in the morning phone on the toilet, phone, waiting for coffee, phone. So, I decided to go full digital detox and see if a flip phone could make me happier. The good, I wasn't doom scrolling every spare second. I found myself more present and more patient. The bad, texting took a really long time. I basically became a caveman. K was my new love language. and the GPS completely useless. I had to print directions like it was 2005. But the biggest downside that I didn't expect in the beginning was that I stopped capturing memories. My smartphone had become my camera, my journal, my map. The trade-off between convenience and happiness wasn't as simple as I thought. A flip phone might not be realistic for most of us, but I found it to be a great experiment to reset my scrolling habits. But maybe it'll work for you.
