[00:08] This time bringing you a look at Fallout 4's latest creation, which is known as Fever Dreams. Stylized with the FEV for the Forest Evolutionary Virus, of course. But right here at the beginning, I would say that this creation is [00:23] perilously close to just being an official DLC. And we'll get into a little more of that in just a moment as it is realistically the main reason I am making a video about it. However, if you did not know, uh yesterday from the time [00:36] of this video was in fact Fallout Day and the entire week prior, we've been most of this was relatively inconsequential as far as this channel is concerned with ultimately this creation being the most important part, [00:51] couple of other creations which are in a slightly different situation. the start date for that Fallout Shelter reality TV show that they are producing, some new Coca-Cola stuff, some merchandise, and another look at the World Pets update [01:06] coming to Fallout 76. But as I mentioned, the Fallout 4 stuff was of interest to me, mainly because the Feverdreams creation here I had heard about previously. If you guys remember, I visited Bethesda Game Studios back in [01:19] March, and one of the things I saw there were uh several creations from King Gath Creations, the people behind Fever Dreams here, and the teaser they threw up for this one was of great interest to me personally. And I'm happy to say that [01:33] the actual release of this thing did not disappoint. I mentioned there that this was like perilously close to being official DLC. And the reason I mention that is that thanks to their relationship with Bethesda, King Gath [01:46] Creations was able to do a lot more for this creation than uh other creations are typically able to. Like they were able to bring back the original voice actors for Nate and Nora. So this creation is like fully voiced, which is [01:59] especially important for what it is. It's also being listed as one of the official creations for uh BGS in particular. That is to say, it will show under the like official creations for them when you go to look at the menu and [02:12] game. And on top of that, it is completely free. So, in many ways, this really is like just a free little DLC, even if it is technically speaking just a creation. It feels like an expanded quest line you would stumble upon and [02:26] if anything. However, it does do some really cool stuff that I want to get it a little more. So, once you've gone into the creation club, uh, picked this up and got it downloaded. In order to get it started, you need to go to [02:40] Diamond City and find a Mr. Gutsy there who will confront you. And due to your history, we'll try to get you to come to a place called Camp Jefferson to give a speech. Now, you will have to dismiss your companions for this. And it's [02:53] actually start this, that is to say, get escorted by this Mr. Gutsy here, you're going to be locked in until this DLC is complete. and your items are going to definitely something to be aware of before you go in. But once you're ready, [03:08] the Mr. Gutsy will take you off to a secluded corner of Diamond City where he style, which is actually pretty funny. And then you are brought to Camp Jefferson where you quickly find out that uh not all is quite as it seems [03:23] because the area is on a lockdown. Now, there is an intelligent super mutant here that you can speak to named Dolores, who explains that her friend Pike came here searching for a cure to avoid becoming a feral ghoul. And so, [03:38] chase after him. But that is a little complicated by the fact that Camp complicated by the fact that Camp Jefferson sits on top of an abandoned FE research facility. And while exploring trying to find a way to lift the lock [03:50] down, you unfortunately, you could say, fall into a vat of FEV, effectively poisoning you. And while there is a sort of stabilizer reversal option available via some antiviral doses, you are running out of time and you need to find [04:04] that stuff fast before uh you know, you turn into a super mutant. Thus kicks off the rest of the creation itself and the quest line. Now, what really struck me here was all of the unique things that this quest ultimately does. The actual [04:18] like full-blown little in-game cutscenes that play out, all sorts of new animations, again, the full voice acting of it, but also how well it fits into the lore, and does also try to do some new things. Now, some of those new [04:30] things it tries to do are as you move through the facility, you are effectively doing like uh escape rooms almost. You'll run into these rooms and need to uh find your way out basically, usually by solving some relatively mild [04:44] direct than others. But you might notice pretty early on that some of these tests really in line with what you would expect for trained soldiers, but rather a lot of them are focused on like just basic manners, that kind of thing. And [04:59] perhaps unsurprisingly, you quickly find out that this is because of the nature of the experiments they were doing down here and what exactly they were trying to accomplish with this FEV research. And you're going to meet some of their [05:11] failed test subjects along the way, which will usually have your unique items and things to have gained from this adventure. However, I do also want to mention here quickly somewhere that it looks like if you miss anything as [05:23] far as like uh pickups and stuff go, like when you actually leave the area, when you get all of your stuff back from the chest outside of the area for this, it had a copy of like everything unique in the creation. So, it doesn't look [05:36] like any of that stuff is like truly missable, but just so people are aware, that's important for some of the items we're going to get into. Now, there are here, like the room with these death claws, but also the flashbacks. A really [05:51] big portion of this DLC is you trying to outrun your impending death. And as such, there are some hallucinations involving your spouse and some throwbacks to the pre-war lifestyle, and how you navigate those does actually [06:05] everything about the DLC, I will say that how you talk to uh the NPCs involved in this story line determines what perk you're going to wind up getting. This is described as a mutation presumably from dropping into the FEV. [06:20] But when you finish the creation, uh you will get one of a few different perks based on how you approached it dialogue-wise. And that's in addition to all of the items and whatnot. Now, I mentioned that all of your stuff gets [06:34] taken and sort of dead money style, the game, in addition to just throwing items and things at you in basically every room, also provides you with challenge tokens. These challenge tokens can be spent on the challenge terminal in order [06:48] to unlock certain items. This can include uh just like consumable stuff you will need to survive, but also a very cool unique rifle alongside some items to help you potentially get into stashes and the like. and just generally [07:02] help you navigate around as you move through this area. But let's talk a little bit about those new items in particular. So, there's quite a few, but the new armor sets. I believe it's called like titanium. This is roughly on [07:16] par with the highest tier uh base game armors stats wise, but looks a little different, of course, and comes with like a new under arour layer of the officer suits and everything if that's something you would enjoy. But much more [07:29] of the new stuff here is really the weaponry in particular. So, in addition to that unique rifle I showed you, uh there's all sorts of other stuff you can pick up like these plasma blasters, a unique piece of the armor that you could [07:42] find, and some overall good rewards there, especially in combination with the perk you get at the end of this. All of that stuff said, and before we wrap up, I will say it's not a terribly long experience. since it's like I don't know [07:54] 3ish hours is what it took me as it is basically just one quest line through a large linear dungeon as you seek to get to the bottom of all of this of course. So while this is not in fact a review or anything of the sort, I mostly just [08:08] wanted to share something that I thought was really cool for the exorbitant price of free. You can check this out for yourself and see what I'm talking about. But overall, I think this easily could have been official DLC given the way [08:20] that they put it all together. I'm kind of surprised they didn't just do that, but technically speaking, it is a creation as mentioned in between the really cool set pieces, the items, the kind of spooky Halloween vibes in a few [08:32] places, which is why I imagine they released this around Halloween, and even the narrative attempt to sort of characterize your character's spouse and have that uh land with a little more emotional impact than the base game gave [08:45] creation that I think is worth taking a look at if you wind up finding the time. Though that is certainly in short supply with everything else going on, which is it. So hopefully you got something out of that. If you did, by all means, like, [08:59] jazz. Let me know how you feel about it down in the comments section below. But regardless of any of that, truly just thank you so much for watching. I really do appreciate it. May you wander in wisdom and have an amazing day.
