[00:02] others don't? Like how did Josh here go from a video that got 66 views to his very next video getting over 3,000? Well, there's actually three specific things that he did and that others are doing with every single video to help [00:17] scores. And just to make sure you know, an outlier score just simply means, to your video, it means that video is over performing your channel's baseline [00:29] at that given time. So, if you have a plugin like VidIQ or something like looking at videos on on YouTube and you see these little bubbles that pop up, 1.4x, 27x, whatever the number is, that's an outlier score. That means that [00:42] have to just be your own, by the way, anybody's. That video that you're looking at did this many times better than that channel's baseline at that time period. So, that just means, "Hey, if you typically get 100 [00:56] views." That's an outlier. Like you're hitting the peaks of your channel. And I about this is you can actually just be one video away from doing this. Let's [01:09] take a look here for just a quick second. This screen is filled with just a few people, um some of our students that have literally gone from one video counts the next video being outliers. That's what all these splits are here [01:23] left. You just saw Josh. Then you've got other creators here who are literally thousands of views in their very next video. And this frame here, I mean, these are like, you know, weekly posts. These are like five [01:37] videos that you're seeing, and the views are drastically different. And the same three things are at the core of each of these videos, which is what we're going to start with today. And the very first one is evaluation. [01:50] Evaluation. And you've probably heard similar words to this like research, mind, especially if you're hanging out around Think Media. Like, I mean, you know, Sean has pioneered this and we live and breathe researching before we [02:04] press record. I'm choosing the word evaluation simply because I actually want you to start thinking about in your researching process, not just gathering information, but actually starting to develop the skill [02:18] to pattern recognize, to pattern spot. And across all information that you're Maybe I should back up for a second. Are you researching? Because if you're not, just start doing that. But if you've been researching and if you've been at [02:31] kicking your butt and you're just keeping it real, I get it. Like, we need to start evaluating better. We need to develop the skill set of not just seeing like, "Hey, like, what is working?" but being able to say, "Why are things [02:45] working?" And once I know why things are working on other videos for for other creators, video topics, video thumbnails, titles, video structure, it actually know, "Why is that thing working over there? And then how can I [02:59] get a slice of it? You know, [laughter] like, how can I apply that to my next of the game. And I actually want to walk through a quick example here, an actual example. These are This is Kat and Cho. [03:12] They run a kettlebell fitness channel and I got to coach them And so I it's I chose this this example here. So, I'm going to tell you exactly what we did to go from their video over [03:25] here on the left getting 629 views to the very next video, which was posted a week later, getting 8,000. What changed? Maybe if you if you looking at the titles and thumbnails, you're a legend. Let me know. I'd love [03:40] about what changes happened here. When we started with evaluation, that's the first of three things that we're going through here to create outlier videos, to create videos that perform better than our baseline. How What did we do to [03:53] didn't run to the camera. We didn't start pressing record. We actually started looking at two different things. The first was outlier videos. This is an actual screenshot from our research document. Which side quest, if you don't [04:07] while you're coming up with ideas, so you have a good idea for a video, and you're looking, I sure hope all that's being compiled in some place. This was nothing fancy. We were just trying to put stuff somewhere so we could see it. [04:22] You want to be able to see everything you're researching. I wouldn't just rely you're searching or whatever. Like capture the stuff that you see working and start putting it into its own place so that you can actually evaluate it. [04:35] I'm thinking about like all the crime shows or whatever. I don't this, but there's like that big board and it's like a battle board or that's connecting all the dots and it's like you're trying to solve a case and [04:48] weapons and there's the I don't know. Like I think I've watched too many like, you know, you've got your your board. You need a board as a creator. actually what I called this. And so what was on it? Outlier videos. These are [05:01] was on it? Outlier videos. These are videos that were proven to work. You can't get an outlier video unless it's an over performer. So if you see those little bubbles next to videos like the one you're attempting to make and you're [05:13] trying to evaluate what you can sort of copy and paste, what you can take and tweak to help inform how you're going to title and thumbnail your video, how hook that you're going to use, the pacing that you're going to cover. [05:27] helpful. So outlier videos is the first thing, but there was a second thing. We also had a keyword doc. A keyword doc. Keywords, Nathan? Keywords, Nathan? And thank you. Yes, crime board is what I was looking for. [05:41] That's exactly it. You need a creator crime board. different things. I'm going to stick with battle board, but you know what I'm >> [laughter] >> I don't know. You need a murder board. [05:57] run with that one. Back into our teaching. So, when you have your outlier video outlier videos documents and over here and you also have your keywords things. I like to talk I like to call this [06:11] robots. And all I mean is you're covering both ends. Search is not dead, by the way. Search is not dead. things all the time. You and I probably just did it within the last 24 hours [06:24] alive and well. Yes, is the most powerful traffic source on YouTube browse recommended for sure. Absolutely. But search matters and it should be a part of your evaluation [06:38] because keywords, the things that people are typing related to your niche and by video basis here. So, for this particular video when I was working with videos that are working? Why would we do that? Because we're trying to look at [06:53] titles, thumbnails, video content. We're also this content. Because why? It just is proof of how your viewer, the viewer you're trying to reach, your audience, your [07:08] target audience, it's proof of how that person or most people like that phrase things. And that phrasing can be incredibly [07:20] things. It can be so helpful when it comes to your title to have a specific anchor phrase inside of your title. It believe it or not. And so, what do we do? Well, we're evaluating. We're [07:33] putting together our murder board. We got okay, so here's outlier video number video number three. Cool. What are we looking for? Titles, hmm. Thumbnails that do this. Interesting text choices [07:45] their hooks. This hook is like that. Oh, this hook really showed something. Oh, so So, we should show something. You get where I'm going with this? And then okay, cool. That's our content and we get keywords. Here's the ways that [07:58] content and here's the big disconnect. Ready? Here we go. we search for and how we click on things. searching is based off our intent. That's the intention of somebody to be [08:14] content, for example. That person is searching for different things like lose belly fat, how to lose fat, fitness motivation, home workout, interesting, full body workout, fitness over 40 is a search [08:27] people are punching these things into the internet, into YouTube specifically. especially for me as their coach, to be like, "Hey, let's just look at the need to be aware of the language your audience is using. [08:43] So, after we put both of those together, the heart and the robot, that actually now gives us a clear indication of how our content needs to be positioned in order to have a chance at [08:58] standing out. So, here's an This is sorry like there's like uh it's pretty dark over a couple of these thumbnails. I literally screenshotted this from our conversations, um and I did this in a video that I sent to Cat and Joe. I like [09:11] blocked out these thumbnails to say, "Hey, let's not run these. Let's run this thumbnail, the one that was pointing to over here." So, we landed on the actual title that was what, fitness over 40 should actually [09:24] search phrase right there in the middle, fitness over 40. That's the anchor phrase, but we need to package it in a way that someone's actually going to click on. So, we chose this thumbnail. Oh, why? Let me go back. [09:37] a little small. That top thumbnail up there. Can you see what we're emulating? Obviously, it's very different. First first one. There's a girl on the second [09:49] what's working, but we're going to do it our way. So, that's how we landed there. And this is actually the perfect segue into the next pieces of this equation. actually I'm revealing the other two back-to-back because they go together. [10:04] which is all about the title, the thumbnail, and then the content starting someone chose your title and your thumbnail, it shows your video. They're dropped into your content. What literally what happens from right away, [10:19] like the opening line, what is said and what is shown all the way to the end of the video. That's the content piece. But it starts with evaluation. something new. A new rule that at least I am I am [10:32] share it with you here. And I'm pumped that you're here on the live stream so you can get it. But, check this out. I want you to start abiding by the 50/50 I want you to start abiding by the 50/50 rule of YouTube long-form content. [10:46] The 50/50 rule. 50% of YouTube videos come down to the packaging and the other 50% comes down to the content. I'm fully And you know, there this might sound surprising to you if you've been around [11:00] cuz you've probably heard wait, wait, almost more so on the packaging. I've even coached like this. So, I'm happy to update my stance now, which is like, yes, we need to prioritize packaging, [11:13] people are prioritizing packaging so much at the cost of the content. So, spending more time on the title and thumbnail is absolutely not a bad idea. Please do that. But if you spend so much [11:28] your ability to deliver some quality What I'm seeing is a lot of clicks happen. Views can go up, happen. Views can go up, but watch time drops because people [11:41] getting better. Title, thumbnail, what's presented, boom. Yes, I choose you, but then I don't stick with you. Because when I get into the content, it lot of congruency or fit it feels different. Something feels off. We [11:54] didn't put as much effort in the content now. So, I'm fully saying, yes, actually right now, here we are. We are literally halfway through the year, 2026. How do with YouTube long form? I'm all about this. YouTube videos are [12:07] 50/50. You have to get the click, which means you have to get good and get package your videos for the people you're trying to reach. And you also you get someone to click and then they leave, [12:21] negative viewer signal. They cancel each other out. So, when it comes to creating content, the 50/50 rule actually like we have to talk about this wonderful lady [12:33] And she is a recent student of ours and she's the perfect example. She actually epitomize She's a wonderful case study of the 50/50 rule. of the 50/50 rule. At 77 year old 77 years old, her first [12:47] which was on a brand new channel from scratch. She had no experience. She following before. That first video got over 37,000 views, over 500 comments, and actually monetized her channel that one video, [13:01] monetized her channel that one video, her first video, in 30 days. Now, you're you're looking at the title and I would caution you to be so quick to dismiss it that's happening here right now. This is why we're going to use this as a case [13:14] about the content. When it comes to the packaging, look at what's going on. Lean There's a high click-through rate on this video because the title and other. Because, let's start with the title. [13:28] What's great about it? G, the the literal first few words. Losing my dog. I mean, wow. Okay, so already this video's qualifying people even if I didn't even see the thumbnail. This is by the way a great test for your title. [13:42] the title hold enough weight on its own? That's actually how good I think the the thumbnail. They go together, but it's a good test you can run. Losing my dog. Wow, automatically anyone else who has [13:55] ever experienced the same thing under is like gravitates toward it. Like I've here. Then we go further at 77 qualifier. Older in life, legacy years, more congruency, more connection, more [14:09] interest for the right person. Final part of the title. part of the title. Hope. Gave me a new purpose. It's then the thumbnail complements it perfectly. There's just three things on [14:22] it. Simplicity is king. Three things. You have the dog, which I mean Can we to start tearing up, you know, it's like you watch those commercials with like the in the arms of the angels and you're like, oh my goodness. It's like that's [14:36] how I feel. It's like, okay. The dog is so sweet. Why did we lose this dog? And then shout out to Sherry. I mean she is she there's emotion in her face. That's automatically congruency with the title because what's in the title? A dog [14:50] and someone who's 77. Great. I believe it. I trust it. And then the text that says we still matter. I am just trying to say [15:05] look at that title and thumbnail and be like, wow. Okay. Yep, I I understand why little there's a little part of you that's like, okay, I'd love to have that on my next video and you know I've been at YouTube for like five years, Nathan, [15:18] understand. I really do. I'm just trying to say there's a reason that this her first video did this and it's because of this 50/50 rule. I'm telling you. So that's the packaging. Let's talk about the content piece, the other 50%. [15:32] If you look at this video, it's not about dogs. It's not actually not about her dog. It's about identity. It takes like 90 seconds. We get into this video and Sherry's talking about like I It talks [15:46] about realizing I have a purpose again. I'm not done yet. I still have more to offer with my experience, with my time, with my Like she is literally saying all this within [15:58] like 90 seconds in the video and all of a sudden you start to realize, "Oh, this is really good content because it qualified people who clicked, who resonate with losing a dog, being older, and trying to have or just having a new [16:11] start later in life. And that's what she's leaning into with her content. And she's just sharing her story. Sherry is so sweet. I mean, she had some She had where we help people like make a video. And so like she had our coaching and she [16:23] was getting feedback along the way, but this is just her story that she's sharing. It's so authentic and it's so real and the comments prove it. The comments prove it. I know this is a little bit small here, [16:37] but the comment section under your videos are proof that people didn't just watch, but that they resonated. And in Sherry's but that they resonated. And in Sherry's In Sherry's case, they identified. [16:51] "I'm 75, widowed. My dog and cat have passed away. I'm going to foster and I need We need to help a lonely dog or cat, which in turn will help me." 194 thumbs up on that comment. The second comment, "Very inspiring video and I'm [17:06] 57. As long as we have a pulse, God has a plan. Very authentic." 99 thumbs up. What's the point here? The point is the content is doing something else that I'm There's got a new term a new term I'm throwing out [17:20] there. The content was proof of satisfied The content was proof of satisfied views. Satisfied views come from the right person. [17:35] The right person who came exactly for what you promised in your title and and left your content the video piece after they clicked and they left it satisfied from beginning to end. From their search query or from the [17:48] YouTube homepage where you showed up between your packaging and your content they were satisfied. A vanity view is going to be one of And here's the here's a little secret especially if you've been hanging around [18:02] to do YouTube a little bit differently where it's actually not all about the You can actually get less views but if they're satisfied views those kinds of views will stay with you. [18:17] They'll subscribe. They'll return. Your video will pop up on their homepage pop up on their homepage because of how much time they spent with you. These are room. These are also the kinds of views that you want [18:32] for business results. Satisfied views become customers. They take you up on follow you all the way through whatever funnels and landing pages you have to views are the name of the game. [18:49] three things, right? We talked about uh evaluating is title and thumbnail and then we talked about the content. said it's 50/50, right? And we're [19:03] comment section can be a really great indicator of that. This is just recent information but this sort of formula this sort of thing we just went through, rather quickly here today, is something that we go into in great [19:16] what our multiple coaches are doing with multiple people every single week in that I had with someone. Sorry, I'm going to make it a little bigger. The like students that I was working with, [19:29] this is what it This is actually why I'm trying to like share this with you from the behind the scenes. This is where your next great video will be created. On the other side of these three things and spending more time on [19:41] them and being aware of how important each of these three things are. We're time architecting nowadays. actually like we're not even reaching for the camera, and there's a time to be [19:53] the face, and there's a time to just press record, like we say all the time. But, if you are stuck under 1,000 views, if you're at this viewpoint and you're trying to break through, you need you you are actually asking for outlier [20:07] You focus on these three things, and you just get better at them time and time this whole thing is happening each and every week, which is why I mean I'm completely stoked here to share with you. We actually want to bring this out [20:22] you. We actually want to bring this out of our coaching programs and to you. So, if you would like to build your next video together, if you would like to a three-day live event inside Zoom. It's not some [20:37] going to look at your videos, we're going to look at your content. We're just walked through. Evaluate to know making, how to better position your own videos, [20:51] and then everything from titles, thumbnails, the hook, your content, cuz it's 50/50, and then how do you ultimately architect your content to do stuff for your business, because here's the reality, all of us all of us [21:04] the reality, all of us all of us are on YouTube for some specific reason. There's your YouTube videos and then there's what you want to happen because lines that I always ask people in the very first call together is like, "Hey, [21:17] because you posted a YouTube video, what changes?" Because you posted a YouTube video, did you Is it Is it subscribers we're for? Oh, it's your book. You want more people to get your book or get into your [21:29] whatever. Like there's a There's And there's often a disconnect between the and the results that we want to have happen. And that's why we're hosting this event to help you do just that. We want to make your next video together [21:42] video away. You're one video away from changing from the very next upload, like I just shared at the beginning of this overperformer. And if you architect it right, strategic [21:58] calls to actions tied to whatever you want to have happen, it's a video that's made on purpose and at outliers, that's where things ultimately get insanely cool and can change very, very fast. So, full disclosure, this is paid. [22:12] fast. So, full disclosure, this is paid. This is $47 because we are bringing coaching to you. It's Sean and I and our whole team walking with you for three entire days. It's halfway through the year to try to give you a great reset [22:24] with your best video yet with the freshest info that we possibly can. And I will say this as we land the plane, the biggest missed opportunity for most is not preparing for overperformance. [22:37] This is how I like have job security as a coach preparing for overperformance. Getting all your ducks in a row, getting that we need? Is this the right video? Is this like how we want to be [22:50] Because if it happens, if this next video is the one where things change, which you have a lot more control over if that next video is the one that actually changes things, [23:03] attached to all the stuff that we would actually want to have happen, right? We overperformance. And so, you can you can scan that code, you can click the first link in the description below. Um we also are dropping the link in the [23:17] chat as well. Um but we would love to have you join us Um but we would love to have you join us for those three days.
