other place is maritime shipping this is due to one simple fact of the universe water is slippery compared to the rolling resistance of a rubber tire on the road or a steel wheel on a track the friction between the surface of a cargo
ship and the water is significantly smaller once a ship gets going it takes a relatively small amount of energy to have it continue at that speed Maritime shipping has another Advantage all of the ocean is zero meters above sea level
except in America where it is zero feet above sea level this means a ship doesn't need to consume additional energy to cross mountains or other obstacles like that however cargo ships have one major limitation cargo ships
can't move on land so they are restricted to the areas near oceans the interior of most countries are inaccessible to Maritime shipping but what if we could get the benefits of ship-based cargo without being near the
sea this is where my revolutionary New Concept comes in channels big enough to support ocean-going ships are impractical to be built through the interior of most countries however smaller channels able to support a boat
that is more narrow is something that is within the Realms of practicality a boat just wide enough to carry an ISO standard cargo container these boats that are narrow could be powered by efficient diesel engines steam solar
power or even self-replicating biofuel powered motor units while some people might point out that this solution is slower and less flexible than Road slower and less flexible than Road Transport and others will point out that
this solution is slower and lacks the economy of scale that comes with rail I will counter that this system is superior to the Virgin hyperloop by being able to use pre-existing infrastructure in many places and not
