[00:00] One of the worst feelings whenever you are a small streamer is whenever you are trying so hard to grow your stream, but it just seems like nothing is working. [00:12] Leave a comment down below if you have ever felt this way, because this sucks. So what a lot of streamers will do whenever this happens to them is that they'll get upset at outside forces, like maybe the platform itself or other creators or maybe just dreaming up something totally nuts [00:29] like boobie streamers are stealing your viewers. However, the problem with this is that whenever you blame everyone else for your lack of success, you're unable to see the impact that you have on [00:42] the success that you want for yourself. And so you're not able to make any internal or external changes in order to improve your situation. And so, in this video, I'm going to help you [00:54] understand what you need to be doing if your stream isn't growing. Let's do it. Own TV is a great resource for overwaves, alerts, panels, even emotes for streamers. [01:07] If you need new graphics for your stream, Own makes it super easy for you. You don't have to worry about making garbage graphics yourself or trying to fit into a busy commission schedule. [01:20] Just go to owned, pick a design, check out, and download your new graphics. So the thing is, when your stream isn't growing, you're likely at a point of very high frustration internally, [01:32] and it's very difficult to understand what you need to do in order to create solutions to the problem that you're having if you have a highly emotional internal state. And so that's why the [01:44] first thing that we need to do is first get your mind right. Something that is really important for you as someone who creates content on social media is that you need to understand that your outcomes, [01:58] also known as the success you have, is almost completely determined by your identity plus your processes. So I want you to think of your processes like your habits. These are the things [02:10] that you do every single day in order to be successful. But your identity is also a really large part of your success as well that I haven't really talked about a ton on this channel before. [02:22] Your identity is really important because it's going to dictate the way that you see the world and everything that you do inside of it. And so for that reason, it's very important that you work on the beliefs that you hold about yourself. If you believe that you aren't worthy of the [02:39] success that you want for yourself, or if you believe that the content you create isn't good enough and will never be good enough to get you where you want to be, it's going to be very [02:51] difficult for you to act against that identity. Meaning the day-to-day habits that you have aren't actually going to be the habits that will succeed in getting you to where you really want to be. [03:04] Now, for this reason, it's really important that you take care of your mental state and you learn to have a belief in yourself. Now, I know just believing in yourself seems kind of like frou-frou and it's not actionable. [03:18] However, it's really important that you understand that it is backed by science. So James Clear is a person that I talked about a few times on this channel but he is an incredible habit researcher and his blog is just absolutely mind However he published a book I believe last year called Atomic Habits that has been completely life for myself and millions of other people [03:44] So if you want to learn more about creating better habits and creating a better identity, a belief system in yourself, that is the book that I recommend. I've actually created a reading list for you on Kit. [03:58] There's a link for it down below in the description, so go and check that out. You can also learn a lot more about my journey through imposter syndrome, not believing in myself, having 20 viewers for four years, to having 250 plus viewers, making five figures [04:14] a month, being featured in Ninja's book, and my ebook, Build Your Dream Stream. There's a link for that below as well. Now, if you feel like your identity is pretty strong and your habits seem okay, why are [04:26] you still not growing on Twitch? Well, there are a few reasons that this could be happening. What I want you to do is analyze all of your content and see whether or not you have every component that you need in order to be successful on Twitch this year. [04:44] There are a lot of different pieces that you need in your content ecosystem in order to be discovered by viewers, nurture those relationships with your viewers, and also get paid by your viewers. [04:56] Now, in my seven years of experience on Twitch, this tends to look like a funnel. It starts at the top with discoverable content, then it leads into the middle of your funnel, [05:08] which is your relationship nurture-based content, and then it leads to the bottom of your funnel, which is your paid content. These are usually subscribers or people who buy products or services. [05:20] I talk a lot more about this funnel in this video right here, so make sure that you go and check that out if you haven't already. Now I'm reworking this funnel as time goes on. There are a couple of changes that I made, so let's run through it here. [05:32] So these are the components to Twitch success. These are the pieces that you need to have if your stream is growing. So it starts at the very top. This is any content that is created to grow awareness of you. [05:48] Then it goes into the middle with your nurture content. This is where you are developing relationships with the people who have discovered you. And then at the bottom, of course, it is your paid content. These are the people who have actually bought in and want to support you because they like you so much. [06:04] If you've watched a bunch of streaming YouTube videos, you've probably heard that as a streamer, you need to be on YouTube. However, I don't think that this is actually true because this top of funnel discoverable content that people are telling you has to be YouTube videos can actually be created on a lot of different platforms. [06:25] It's not about whether or not you're on YouTube. It's about whether or not you're creating content that is being discovered through algorithms on any platform. This might mean that your top of funnel content is on Instagram or maybe it's on TikTok. [06:40] Whatever platform this stuff exists on that you are being discovered on, all you have to remember is that it needs to do something very specific for your audience. So what you have to do with your top of funnel content is solve problems that your audience [06:57] is experiencing. This problem can be as simple as they're just really bored and you're freaking hilarious and they watch your stuff to laugh. That is a totally valid problem because I know some of you are going to be like I don know how to educate anybody This one is totally fine Now there a little bit more to it than just know what people are struggling with like solve their problems freaking for them so I [07:22] actually created an Instagram post for you that just went up that you can go to to learn a little bit more about getting close to the problems that your audience has a link for that is down below and I also know that there are a lot of you who are interested in getting started on YouTube [07:38] but you are a little bit intimidated, a little unsure of how to start, I've got an entire YouTube playlist for Twitch streamers that you can go and check out that will help you get started. Okay, now let's say you have your top of funnel content figured out. [07:53] You're being discovered on another platform. You are telling people to come into your stream and all the content that you create on that platform. Now, why are you still not growing? Well, after someone has discovered you and your toddler funnel concept, they move into [08:08] the middle of your funnel, which is into the relationship nurture phase. Your job when they are in this relationship nurture part of your funnel is to get closer [08:20] to them as people so that they trust you and they want to progress downward into the rest of your funnel so that they actually pay you. So what you need to do here is you need to be focusing on relationship development with [08:33] the people who are in your stream and the people who are in your discord server. If you haven't started a discord server yet, I have a video that is all about how to set one up. Whether you've had a server for a long time or you haven't, that video is going to give you some stuff that you [08:49] definitely need. The way that you can improve this relationship nurture part of your funnel is by focusing more on the relationships of the people in your space. And the way that you do this is that you give more of yourself and your time to your community. [09:05] So what I want to challenge you to do is in your streams, share more of yourself. Talk about your goals, your dreams, aspirations, things that have happened in your life. Don't be scared to open up because by opening up, [09:19] you're going to impress upon the rest of your audience that they can open up as well. And the more that you all are sharing freely about your life, the closer you're going to get. It's like your real friends hanging out together. [09:32] Don't just talk about the game. Talk about yourself. So now let's say someone loved the experience that you gave them in your Discord or your Twitch stream, and now they are ready to progress down to the bottom of your funnel, [09:45] which is where they're actually going to pay you. So this is where they're going to become a subscriber on Twitch, or maybe they signed up for some kind of product or service that you offer, and now is your time to really impress them. [09:59] Now this is your bottom funnel VIP experience and you need this because it is a hundred times easier to get someone to pay you who has already paid you before than it is to get someone who hasn't paid you to pay you. [10:14] And this is why it's so important that you reinvest back into the people who are helping you grow your streaming business. This is actually something that we're starting to experiment with inside of Stream Coach Academy, which is my stream coaching program. [10:29] We are about to start surprising our students and having a little community get-togethers and things, because we're finally big enough to start reinvesting back into the community that we've grown in. [10:43] And we know that because someone has signed up to work with us that it really important that we continue to have a great relationship with them And that why I get so frustrated whenever Twitch doesn really invest into their community [11:02] Don't tell Daddy. Now, there are a lot of different ways that you can reinvest back into your viewers. There are different sub-perks that you can have. There are community nights. There's all sorts of stuff that you can create for them. [11:16] So I've actually made a podcast for you that goes deeper into different sub perks that you can have for people who pay you to support you. There's a link for that down below. Man, I'm tired in this video. [11:28] Does that help across? Can you help help? Now, what if your mind is right, you believe in yourself, you have great habits, and your top, middle, and bottom funnel are fully functioning, but you still aren't growing on Twitch. [11:44] This means that you need to look closer at each piece in this funnel and verify that it's actually working. Because I promise you, whenever you spend a little bit of time going over everything that you are creating, [11:57] you will probably find a massive missed opportunity somewhere. So you look at your top of funnel content. Remember, the goal of this content is awareness. It's meant to get you in front of tons of people and expose you to a lot more new potential viewers. [12:14] Are you getting a lot of views there? If you aren't, you know that you need to create better stuff. Think more about search engine optimization and optimizing for human beings so that you can get in front of more people. [12:27] If the views are really good but people aren't coming over to your stream, that probably means that you need to mention your stream in that content more so that people understand that that is an option for them to be able to experience. [12:41] If people are coming into your stream or your Discord server from that discoverable content that you're creating, that's really awesome. That means that the topic funnel is working. But if those people aren't progressing down and paying you, that means something too. [12:58] It could mean that they don't have the money, which is totally fine, but it also could mean that they aren't enjoying the experience of hanging out with you in your Discord server or your stream. So that might mean that you need to warm up a little bit more [13:12] and you need to convince them that you are someone worth paying attention to and worth investing into. You can do this by showing them how hard you work, so showing them behind the scenes a little bit more. [13:24] You can do this by explaining what your vision is for yourself and for your content. And you can do this by just point blank telling them what you are going to help them with. If they are progressing from your streamer, your Discord server, down into the bottom of your funnel and paying you, those are your VIPs. [13:43] Those are the golden children. You want to get as close to these people as you freaking possibly can. and understand how you can get more of them based on feedback that they give you about what they [13:56] specifically enjoyed from your content that led to them wanting to support you. When you know who the people are that are paying you, it's going to be a lot easier for you to go out and find more people like that. Now, what if you just straight up don't have all of these components? [14:13] Well, these are the necessary components that you need to grow your stream. And if you don't have them, now you know what you need. So you can go out and make it. This was a really good video to help you get started. [14:25] I'll see you all in the next one. Bye.
