[0:00] Shiftup CEO, the creator of Stellar [0:01] Blade, made a public response in [0:03] interview with IGN about the character [0:06] design of Eve and how they will not be [0:08] censoring the character design and that [0:10] Eve's outfits will even be more [0:11] appealing than Eve's design in the [0:14] original Stellar Blade game. Can I get a [0:16] based in the comments by the way? Like [0:18] I'm so freaking happy that the CEO just [0:22] straight out went on to an interview [0:24] with IGN and said, "Look, I have seen [0:27] your hit pieces. I know people are [0:29] upset, but I do not care." Like I am so [0:32] happy that a CEO is standing their [0:34] ground, not bending the knee, and they [0:36] are even making public statements in [0:38] interviews saying, "Nah, we are not [0:41] censoring. We're not listening to you [0:42] guys crying about this character saying [0:44] the character is a kid when the [0:45] character is far removed from being a [0:47] kid." I am so happy to see that the CEO [0:50] is not budging on this and not giving a [0:52] rat's ass about what these hit pieces [0:54] are having to say. Because after this [0:55] public interview that was made late last [0:57] night, Kotaku and a few other [0:59] journalists have decided to start making [1:01] hit pieces about Stellar Blade Blood [1:03] Rain and trying any way they can to [1:04] slander this game and make sure that [1:06] this game never sees the light of day. [1:08] Like let's go down to the very last [1:09] statement here on what the Kotaku game [1:11] journalist had to say about Stellar [1:13] Blade Blood Rain after this interview of [1:15] the CEO clarifying about the character [1:17] design. [1:18] So Kim is the CEO. Kim did however talk [1:21] about the new outfits that will be [1:22] available for Eve in Stellar Blade Blood [1:24] Rain. And the quotation was what the CEO [1:26] said, "It will be even more appealing. [1:28] That's all we can say." And then [1:30] Kotaku's game journalist responds with, [1:31] "Good lord, I hope more appealing [1:34] doesn't mean what I think it means in [1:35] this context. The jiggle physics [1:37] presented in the reveal trailer were [1:39] disturbing enough. Thank you very much." [1:43] They are scared of jiggle physics. Like [1:45] we have reached the point now to where [1:47] we have now shifted the goal post of [1:49] like, "Okay, so Eve is a kid. Like her [1:52] face is too young looking. She's an [1:54] Asian. We can't have the games or [1:55] anything. They're deemed problematic [1:57] now." That's what these journalists are [1:58] trying to do and a lot of people and [1:59] content creators are trying to say. And [2:01] now they're trying to attack the angle [2:03] of jiggle physics. So, okay. So, you you [2:06] you you see the character having like [2:08] like jiggle going on all over her body [2:10] and suddenly your mind instantly [2:12] gravitates towards she's too young. Like [2:14] there's some weird stuff going on and [2:15] I'm just going to say if you're having [2:17] this thought and you're seeing like [2:17] basically a real living being and a kid [2:20] in this image, you need professional [2:21] help. I've already said this before but [2:23] I want to reiterate this because you [2:24] need professional help, especially when [2:26] it's very clear that even Kotaku's game [2:28] journalist is noticing there is jiggle [2:30] physics in the actual trailer. And so [2:32] they are [2:34] obviously being very blatant and like [2:36] trying to be disingenuous with trying to [2:38] say that Eevee is a problem, that her [2:40] character design is a problem. And then [2:42] now they bring up jiggle physics on top. [2:44] That's like [2:45] this is ridiculous, absolutely [2:47] ridiculous. But we need to get into what [2:50] the CEO actually said. So, basically [2:52] this is the full-blown interview that [2:53] was made with IGN and I'm just going to [2:55] read it from start to finish. The boss [2:57] of Stellar Blade Blood Rain developer [2:58] Shift Up has discussed the design of the [3:00] new main character Eevee, highlighting [3:02] the differences between her and the [3:03] protagonist of the first game Eve. Shift [3:06] Up announced Stellar Blade Blood Rain at [3:08] Summer Game Fest last week with an [3:09] eye-catching trailer that revealed [3:11] Eevee, a brand new main character who [3:13] prefers to punch her way through enemies [3:15] than take the slice and dice approach [3:16] favored by her predecessor. The biggest [3:18] talking points out of the trailer reveal [3:20] was the design of Eevee herself, with [3:22] some expressing concern about her [3:23] seemingly childlike face and the context [3:26] of her more adult-sounding voice acting [3:28] and body design. And then if you scroll [3:30] down here are some screenshots, but this [3:31] is what the interview gets into with [3:33] Kim, the CEO of Shift Up, you know, [3:34] clarifying. So, in an interview with IGN [3:36] following the Summer Game Fest reveal, [3:38] Shift Up CEO confirmed that Eevee being [3:40] Eve's junior was a conscious design [3:43] decision. "Yes, she is younger, she's [3:45] smaller in size, she's shorter than [3:47] Eve," he said, "but she has a stronger [3:49] personality and engages in much tougher [3:51] fights. And she's actually part of the [3:52] special squad that chases after a group [3:54] of terrorists who caused terror attacks [3:56] here and there in the city. Eve in [3:58] Stellar Blade is a highly sexualized [4:00] character, so we asked Kim if he was [4:02] worried that by using a young-looking [4:04] character for Blood Rain, Shift Up was [4:06] running the risk that some people would [4:07] view Evie in a way that developers [4:10] doesn't want. And then he responds with, [4:13] "If you play the game, you will not [4:15] think that." He replied, "I definitely [4:17] like how Evie looked in previous the [4:19] previous Stellar Blade, but this time [4:21] Evie, not just her physical looks, but [4:23] her personality, the way she talks, the [4:25] way she engages in battle, all that will [4:27] combine together, and you'll see that [4:28] she's a very lovable character." So, [4:30] this right here is such a based freaking [4:33] statement. He just straight up said, "If [4:35] you actually play the game, [4:38] you won't have this complaint cuz you'll [4:39] realize that it's not a kid." [4:42] I love the CEO, man. Like quickly, Shift [4:44] Up is becoming one of my favorite [4:46] studios, and especially now that they [4:48] don't have to deal with Sony breathing [4:50] down their neck and forcing them to [4:51] censor content of Stellar Blade. I'm [4:54] very happy to see this. It just I I I'm [4:56] I hope the CEO continues this de- design [4:59] philosophy and just never bends the knee [5:01] because I respect this. Mass respect, [5:03] honestly, for the CEO even willing to [5:06] make a statement like this. Pretty much [5:08] saying, "If you actually play our games [5:09] instead of complaining like a game [5:10] journalist, you'll see the actual [5:12] difference here and also fiction and [5:13] reality and stuff like that." But, uh [5:15] absolutely based freaking statement. So, [5:17] the first Stellar Blade is known for its [5:18] revealing unlockable outfits, and from [5:20] the sound of things, there are no plans [5:21] to tone things down for the sequel. [5:23] "It'll be even more appealing," Kim said [5:25] on Evie's outfits. "That's all we can [5:27] say." Elsewhere in our interview, we [5:29] asked Kim why Shift Up has decided to go [5:31] with a new protagonist instead of [5:32] sticking with Evie in the first place, [5:34] giving her popularity with players. He [5:36] replied to tease a plot point that will [5:38] eventually help to explain the decision. [5:40] "We cannot tell you everything right now [5:41] because this would be a spoiler," Kim [5:43] said. "But, once you have played the [5:45] sequel, you'll see that Evie's backstory [5:46] will be more memorial, it will be more [5:48] attractive in a in a way. So, is Eve's [5:50] story over or will fans get more Stellar [5:52] Blade story involving Eve? And he [5:54] responds with, "Well, first of all, the [5:56] sequel story, it stands alone. So, you [5:59] don't have to know the previous story to [6:01] properly enjoy this," Kim said. "But, if [6:03] you did play the first one, you'll see a [6:04] lot of points here and there, very [6:06] memorable and impressive moments where [6:08] it's like, oh, that's what happened. [6:10] That's what it turned out to be." And I [6:12] love this shot, by the way, absolutely [6:13] amazing. Shift Up has said, "Blood Rain [6:15] is the next chapter in the celebrate [6:17] franchise. It's set in the same universe [6:19] as Stellar Blade and it continues the [6:20] story beyond the events of the first [6:21] game. It's still early in development, [6:23] but Shift Up has said the development [6:25] team has made incredible progress." So, [6:27] basically, to make a long story short, [6:30] after this interview of the CEO [6:31] clarifying the design philosophy of Eve [6:34] and not willing to basically censor [6:36] anything, you have game journalists [6:38] absolutely crashing out, not happy with [6:40] the fact that the CEO is holding their [6:41] ground, not wanting to censor anything, [6:43] not even humoring that she looks too [6:45] childlike. Just straight-up saying, "If [6:47] you actually play our games and know, [6:48] you'll know that this is completely [6:49] untrue." And the response to these [6:52] statements, by the way, Kim, the actual, [6:54] you know, creator of Stellar Blade and [6:56] CEO, has since been going on a retweet [6:59] spree, retweeting of different Eve fan [7:01] art, like your Eve fan art, like here's [7:03] one right here. You just see a bunch of [7:05] retweets and stuff going on. So, it's [7:07] very obvious just yeah, like he doesn't [7:10] care. Like the actual the actual creator [7:13] of Stellar Blade and Eve and all that [7:15] just does not care and is not bending [7:17] the knee. I love to see this because now [7:19] that we have an actual official [7:21] statement, and we also have this going [7:24] on, it is just beautiful. And it is so [7:27] beautiful to see this cuz we live in a [7:29] society now where people can't stand on [7:31] principle and do like um [7:34] basically hold their ground and hold [7:35] their morals. They have to bend the [7:36] their knee to modern audiences. I'm glad [7:39] to see that this is not happening. I [7:40] also want to point out something that's [7:42] very fascinating someone mentioned which [7:43] I thought was pretty humorous because it [7:45] is true. Have you noticed one of these [7:47] already has a flood of cosplays and fan [7:49] art and the other has none? [7:53] >> [laughter] [7:54] >> I mean [7:55] yeah, I'd say yeah. It It speaks for [7:58] itself. I think it does. So, I will [8:00] leave it at that. If you enjoy my [8:02] content, please subscribe. It does help [8:03] me out a lot, but be safe, stay healthy. [8:05] Chibi out.
