## Transcript

Shiftup CEO, the creator of Stellar
Blade, made a public response in
interview with IGN about the character
design of Eve and how they will not be
censoring the character design and that
Eve's outfits will even be more
appealing than Eve's design in the
original Stellar Blade game. Can I get a
based in the comments by the way? Like
I'm so freaking happy that the CEO just
straight out went on to an interview
with IGN and said, "Look, I have seen
your hit pieces. I know people are
upset, but I do not care." Like I am so
happy that a CEO is standing their
ground, not bending the knee, and they
are even making public statements in
interviews saying, "Nah, we are not
censoring. We're not listening to you
guys crying about this character saying
the character is a kid when the
character is far removed from being a
kid." I am so happy to see that the CEO
is not budging on this and not giving a
rat's ass about what these hit pieces
are having to say. Because after this
public interview that was made late last
night, Kotaku and a few other
journalists have decided to start making
hit pieces about Stellar Blade Blood
Rain and trying any way they can to
slander this game and make sure that
this game never sees the light of day.
Like let's go down to the very last
statement here on what the Kotaku game
journalist had to say about Stellar
Blade Blood Rain after this interview of
the CEO clarifying about the character
design.
So Kim is the CEO. Kim did however talk
about the new outfits that will be
available for Eve in Stellar Blade Blood
Rain. And the quotation was what the CEO
said, "It will be even more appealing.
That's all we can say." And then
Kotaku's game journalist responds with,
"Good lord, I hope more appealing
doesn't mean what I think it means in
this context. The jiggle physics
presented in the reveal trailer were
disturbing enough. Thank you very much."
They are scared of jiggle physics. Like
we have reached the point now to where
we have now shifted the goal post of
like, "Okay, so Eve is a kid. Like her
face is too young looking. She's an
Asian. We can't have the games or
anything. They're deemed problematic
now." That's what these journalists are
trying to do and a lot of people and
content creators are trying to say. And
now they're trying to attack the angle
of jiggle physics. So, okay. So, you you
you you see the character having like
like jiggle going on all over her body
and suddenly your mind instantly
gravitates towards she's too young. Like
there's some weird stuff going on and
I'm just going to say if you're having
this thought and you're seeing like
basically a real living being and a kid
in this image, you need professional
help. I've already said this before but
I want to reiterate this because you
need professional help, especially when
it's very clear that even Kotaku's game
journalist is noticing there is jiggle
physics in the actual trailer. And so
they are
obviously being very blatant and like
trying to be disingenuous with trying to
say that Eevee is a problem, that her
character design is a problem. And then
now they bring up jiggle physics on top.
That's like
this is ridiculous, absolutely
ridiculous. But we need to get into what
the CEO actually said. So, basically
this is the full-blown interview that
was made with IGN and I'm just going to
read it from start to finish. The boss
of Stellar Blade Blood Rain developer
Shift Up has discussed the design of the
new main character Eevee, highlighting
the differences between her and the
protagonist of the first game Eve. Shift
Up announced Stellar Blade Blood Rain at
Summer Game Fest last week with an
eye-catching trailer that revealed
Eevee, a brand new main character who
prefers to punch her way through enemies
than take the slice and dice approach
favored by her predecessor. The biggest
talking points out of the trailer reveal
was the design of Eevee herself, with
some expressing concern about her
seemingly childlike face and the context
of her more adult-sounding voice acting
and body design. And then if you scroll
down here are some screenshots, but this
is what the interview gets into with
Kim, the CEO of Shift Up, you know,
clarifying. So, in an interview with IGN
following the Summer Game Fest reveal,
Shift Up CEO confirmed that Eevee being
Eve's junior was a conscious design
decision. "Yes, she is younger, she's
smaller in size, she's shorter than
Eve," he said, "but she has a stronger
personality and engages in much tougher
fights. And she's actually part of the
special squad that chases after a group
of terrorists who caused terror attacks
here and there in the city. Eve in
Stellar Blade is a highly sexualized
character, so we asked Kim if he was
worried that by using a young-looking
character for Blood Rain, Shift Up was
running the risk that some people would
view Evie in a way that developers
doesn't want. And then he responds with,
"If you play the game, you will not
think that." He replied, "I definitely
like how Evie looked in previous the
previous Stellar Blade, but this time
Evie, not just her physical looks, but
her personality, the way she talks, the
way she engages in battle, all that will
combine together, and you'll see that
she's a very lovable character." So,
this right here is such a based freaking
statement. He just straight up said, "If
you actually play the game,
you won't have this complaint cuz you'll
realize that it's not a kid."
I love the CEO, man. Like quickly, Shift
Up is becoming one of my favorite
studios, and especially now that they
don't have to deal with Sony breathing
down their neck and forcing them to
censor content of Stellar Blade. I'm
very happy to see this. It just I I I'm
I hope the CEO continues this de- design
philosophy and just never bends the knee
because I respect this. Mass respect,
honestly, for the CEO even willing to
make a statement like this. Pretty much
saying, "If you actually play our games
instead of complaining like a game
journalist, you'll see the actual
difference here and also fiction and
reality and stuff like that." But, uh
absolutely based freaking statement. So,
the first Stellar Blade is known for its
revealing unlockable outfits, and from
the sound of things, there are no plans
to tone things down for the sequel.
"It'll be even more appealing," Kim said
on Evie's outfits. "That's all we can
say." Elsewhere in our interview, we
asked Kim why Shift Up has decided to go
with a new protagonist instead of
sticking with Evie in the first place,
giving her popularity with players. He
replied to tease a plot point that will
eventually help to explain the decision.
"We cannot tell you everything right now
because this would be a spoiler," Kim
said. "But, once you have played the
sequel, you'll see that Evie's backstory
will be more memorial, it will be more
attractive in a in a way. So, is Eve's
story over or will fans get more Stellar
Blade story involving Eve? And he
responds with, "Well, first of all, the
sequel story, it stands alone. So, you
don't have to know the previous story to
properly enjoy this," Kim said. "But, if
you did play the first one, you'll see a
lot of points here and there, very
memorable and impressive moments where
it's like, oh, that's what happened.
That's what it turned out to be." And I
love this shot, by the way, absolutely
amazing. Shift Up has said, "Blood Rain
is the next chapter in the celebrate
franchise. It's set in the same universe
as Stellar Blade and it continues the
story beyond the events of the first
game. It's still early in development,
but Shift Up has said the development
team has made incredible progress." So,
basically, to make a long story short,
after this interview of the CEO
clarifying the design philosophy of Eve
and not willing to basically censor
anything, you have game journalists
absolutely crashing out, not happy with
the fact that the CEO is holding their
ground, not wanting to censor anything,
not even humoring that she looks too
childlike. Just straight-up saying, "If
you actually play our games and know,
you'll know that this is completely
untrue." And the response to these
statements, by the way, Kim, the actual,
you know, creator of Stellar Blade and
CEO, has since been going on a retweet
spree, retweeting of different Eve fan
art, like your Eve fan art, like here's
one right here. You just see a bunch of
retweets and stuff going on. So, it's
very obvious just yeah, like he doesn't
care. Like the actual the actual creator
of Stellar Blade and Eve and all that
just does not care and is not bending
the knee. I love to see this because now
that we have an actual official
statement, and we also have this going
on, it is just beautiful. And it is so
beautiful to see this cuz we live in a
society now where people can't stand on
principle and do like um
basically hold their ground and hold
their morals. They have to bend the
their knee to modern audiences. I'm glad
to see that this is not happening. I
also want to point out something that's
very fascinating someone mentioned which
I thought was pretty humorous because it
is true. Have you noticed one of these
already has a flood of cosplays and fan
art and the other has none?
>> [laughter]
>> I mean
yeah, I'd say yeah. It It speaks for
itself. I think it does. So, I will
leave it at that. If you enjoy my
content, please subscribe. It does help
me out a lot, but be safe, stay healthy.
Chibi out.
