[00:00] If you've ever sold a personalized print-on-demand product on Etsy, you know how chaotic it can get, especially with image uploads. In the past, there was no way for a buyer to just come in here and [00:12] click on upload files, for example. They had to actually send the images via messages and it just got really messy really quickly. Well now, Etsy has changed everything. Finally, they've updated it to where we can add our own personalization fields to our listings and I'm going to show you [00:27] today exactly how to create one of these photo upload blankets like this and how to use Printify to tie everything together and automate the actual process because once a customer uploads their [00:39] files, their images, and you can upload up to 10 images. So basically you want your print-on-demand partner to be able to go ahead and automatically process those personalized fields. So Printify [00:52] has updated to basically reflect the changes on Etsy and it is one of the smoothest experiences that I've had creating personalized print on demand products I don't need any other tools it's all built into Printify so let's go [01:04] ahead and jump into this tutorial on how to make this step by step I'm gonna try and make it as simple as possible and I'm gonna show you the updated process for creating these personalized products and selling them on Etsy because it's [01:17] literally never been easier than that so all of these changes are currently live on Etsy to where the customer can upload photos, also text fields if they want to type in text fields, but it literally is part of the checkout experience now on Etsy. So everything is integrated, [01:31] which is something, if you've been listening to me for a while, I've been preaching about how Etsy really needs to make their personalization process better. Finally, we are at the point where they have improved the personalization for the customer, and now I essentially can go from [01:46] uploaded photo from the customer, which can be a JPEG, PNG, many different file types, and then it can go to print file without me having to touch anything. It just happens automatically, which is way easier than trying to spend hours chasing down messages, trying to [02:02] refine the right photos, trying to put it into the right tools to upscale it and everything else, right? So this is going to be a lot more seamless experience for both the customers that we have and ourselves as sellers. Now in Printify, you do have the option to create a free Printify account, [02:18] and again you can manage these personalized listings and create these personalized listings directly inside of the supplier's print-on-demand website. So here we can pretty much set up the entire personalized listing and then it will be posted to Etsy and any orders that we get [02:33] will automatically be handled by Printify, which makes the personalization process so much smoother and faster. So overall, not only should we see a conversion rate increase on the buyer's side, [02:45] we should be seeing a conversion rate increase there because it's a smoother experience for them, but we should also be seeing less time spent on actually fulfilling the orders ourselves, because Printify is going to help us speed up that process. To create a woven blanket in Printify, [03:00] we just need to go to catalog, and if you don't have a Printify account yet, I do have a link in the video description. You can join for free and you will be able to create these personalized orders with up to five personalized fields for each product and that is going to give you the [03:16] ability to, for example, do two images and three text fields or five images that the customer can upload on a single product. Whereas in the past you were limited to one or maybe two personalized [03:29] fields, now you can have up to five personalized fields on each product. So I'm going to go to catalog and then I'm going to go to embroidery and here we should see all the different embroidery products actually I'm just gonna go back up here [03:41] and go to your home and living and then woven blanket the woven blanket is a best seller for a good reason I've been talking about woven blanket whenever they first came out and they were still a new product but their best sellers [03:54] because the pricing is really good on these blankets we can easily price these at all the way up to depending on the size and the designs and basically we can get a really good profit out of these woven blankets. They're also something that is a lot more sentimental [04:09] for personalized photo uploads and things like that that people are going to have in their home. It definitely works well with these personalized niches whether it's your pet, whether it's a memorial photo of someone that passed or whatever it is that is going on with blankets. They make [04:26] really, really good keepsakes. They also appear more handmade and higher quality than many other print-on-demand products that are out there. So I do see it as one of the best options that we have as print-on-demand products to sell on Etsy right now. And I do think that the actual price point [04:43] that we can get this at is more advantageous than a lot of print-on-demand products. I'm going to click on start designing and now we have the option to basically add our personalization fields. Of course if you didn't want to do a personalized product and you just wanted to [04:56] upload your own designs you definitely could but because this is going to be a photo upload product where the customer can upload an image we're going to do a personalized first and personalized image [05:08] and then we're going to choose the image and then just choose a placeholder image. So for this one I'm going to upload a photo from a recent trip that I went on and this will serve as a placeholder [05:21] but it also is going to show on the actual product pages as the sample image if that makes sense like the sample mock-up. So I'm just going to go ahead and place this image here like this and make sure that personalizable image is turned on. You can do like pattern products if you've ever seen anything [05:38] like this where it creates like repeating patterns but I don't really you know recommend that unless you have a particular style that you're going for obviously so I'm going to turn the pattern off and then I'm just going to make sure that the image fits into the space. [05:52] Now I get a lot of questions about different size variants and how you can do different size blankets in one listing. It's just right here by clicking on select variants and then size and then [06:04] turning on the other size options and so if you adjust the image like it is like this it's going adjusted for all of these size variants but that doesn't really work for what we're trying to do so we're going to create a specific size for each variant [06:18] this one actually works 80 by 60 is good but the 60 by 50 we need a different size image now this is where you can either choose a completely different image that is sized to 60 by 50 but personally I would just resize the [06:33] current image that you have by clicking on make a specific design and then we can go ahead and adjust this and then we can go ahead and check the designs one [06:45] more time and now there's no white borders there's nothing getting cut off or anything like that and it works for all sizes of woven blankets so if you want to you can go ahead and preview this if you want to add additional [06:58] personalized elements like let's say you wanted to add additional images you can keep going so this is only the first personalized image that we added you could technically have up to five images on here that the customer uploads for. [07:11] Personalizable text, same thing, you can have a total between your images and your text of five personalized elements. You can keep adding things here as well. Now I am going to remove the text and just have the image, but again you can [07:26] keep going with these fields if you want to. They also have templates that you can follow as well that are personalizable, but I just recommend using the personalizable image for most of the products that you're going to see that are doing really well right now. [07:40] They're photo upload products and so that's why I recommend sticking with it. So we can go ahead and preview this and for each size it going to give you a preview of what this is actually going to look like on the front back folded and in a contact photo These are mock to help you actually sell the product So these are going to go live on Etsy but as you can imagine you might want to do some AI [08:02] mock-ups or use Placeit to get additional mock-ups to make your listing even better. Once you're happy with the preview and how the preview looks we're going to go ahead and save the product. Keep in mind that with woven blankets it [08:14] will have more of an air room pixelated type look to it and that's just the style for these air room woven blankets so that's totally to be expected go ahead and click on save product speaking of ai mock-ups printify actually does have the ability to create eye-catching [08:31] product images using ai directly built in so that was covered in another video but basically you can go here to ai generated and you can start generating some of your own mock-ups without ever leaving printify but from here you want to select the mock-ups that you want to use [08:46] So I'm going to select the front image for all three sizes because it shows me the three different sizes here. Then I can go over to context, for example, and I might only select one of the context images. I might also select one of the folded images. [09:01] And again, you might go in here and do some AI art generation, click on generate mockup, and then you can choose kind of what you want your final image to look like. So maybe you want it to be a cozy room, and then you put in your other things here that you're looking for, [09:14] like your demographic or person that you're targeting. In this case, maybe it's somebody 30 to 40, female, Middle Eastern. And you can go through and select all the different attributes that you want for your actual product mock-up. [09:28] And you can have it with a model or you can have it isolated on its own. So I'm gonna say with model and with a friendly facial expression, generate mock-up. And then I can generate my AI mock-ups right here in PriteFi. [09:42] All right, and there's the mock-up. I think it looks pretty good overall. Now obviously this isn't going to make as much sense. It might make more sense to do a mock-up where I'm holding it because I'm the one on the example blanket. It might make more sense to show images of the person holding the blanket being [09:57] the same as the people on the blanket or the example, right? Hopefully that makes sense. But that's how you can generate mock-ups pretty quickly, maybe 30 seconds for each mock-up. And you can do this 10 times here before you run out of credits. But I'm going to select this mock-up [10:11] And then we can save the selection for all the different mockups that we have. And then finally, this is going to go through and essentially do the listing data for us. So the tags are already done. Description is already done. [10:23] Title is already done. I do recommend if you're going to want to rank for the highest keywords and for the best slots on Etsy, you probably want to go in here and look at other listings that are selling well. [10:35] For example, this one here. and go and look at their title and pull some of the keywords out of their title that they're using. For example, custom gift wedding, grandma personalized memorial blanket. These are all keywords that we could add to our title, [10:50] and that would help us place and rank for those particular keywords. You can also scroll down here to the bottom of the page, and you can see some related searches. These related searches are also sometimes some good keywords you can use. [11:04] These down here can be good keywords. So just adding those to your title to make it a little bit better. Custom wedding grandma memorial something like that will hopefully get you a little bit more traffic a little bit more sales right. [11:18] So otherwise I'm going to leave the rest of this the way that it is. You can come down here and you can fill out the rest of the attributes but I personally find that that doesn't really make a huge difference when it comes to traffic and sales so you can skip past that. [11:31] personalization. This here is just verifying all of the personalizations that this listing will have and as of right now it just has one image upload field. So Printify is letting us know here that they're still in the process of fully integrating so for now only edit the field title, instructions, [11:47] character limits and required settings in the Etsy shop manager So once we publish this it also going to have a listing inside of the Etsy shop manager and that is where we going to go to make any changes to our personalization and stuff So as of right now that where we want to make our changes after we publish this listing [12:06] if we need to change the listing for some reason, and there are additional instructions here for you as well in case you need a refresher on that. But don't add, remove, or reorder any fields, options, or images on Etsy so that you can [12:19] maintain your automated order personalization. Basically, if you mess with the personalization fields, as of right now, it might disrupt the actual orders coming in and it might not [12:31] automatically fulfill those orders for you, which is something that would slow you down in fulfillment. Automatically assign and update a profile for a shipping profile. That's fine. Down here, [12:44] you choose your pricing. This is something that I get a lot of questions on as well. And personally, I think there's no right or wrong answer. You kind of have to experiment with your pricing a little bit. But generally speaking, a 30 to 50% profit margin is a pretty healthy place to be. But that's [13:01] not a steadfast rule. Some people might want to charge more because they're having, you know, maybe a very in-demand personalized product that is something that can sell for a higher price point. Or you might be trying to compete with another listing that maybe is a little bit on [13:18] the lower side. Maybe they sell their woven blankets for $60 and you're doing something similar. And so you might price yourself around that listing. I don't recommend trying to go for the cheapest. It's just a race to the bottom. I recommend keeping yourself between 30 to 50% [13:33] profit margins. And if that is what's converting into sales, then don't mess with your prices. But if you're not seeing sales convert at that price point, then start to play with your prices. Maybe lower the price by $3, raise the price by $3 if you need to. [13:49] Sometimes even raising prices can make the perceived value of your product even better. So you have to experiment with your pricing. And also, I recommend leaving a buffer room, like some room for yourself when it comes to doing sales. [14:02] Because you're going to be offering sales on Etsy maybe 15%, 20%. And so you want to have that built into your profit margin. You don't want to have 30% profit margin and then offer a 20% discount. [14:14] You want to have more like a 50% profit margin. And then when you offer a 20% discount, you're still getting 30%. So just something to keep in mind. And I do feel like running sales is typically a good idea on Etsy to help you get more sales [14:28] and visibility. So from here, you can go ahead and hit publish. And then this listing will go live on Etsy. So let's hit publish. And I'm going to come back and show you exactly what this looks like and some ways that we could improve this listing even further to help us rank higher, get more traffic, and get more sales. [14:45] So let's hit publish, and then it's going to publish and go live on Etsy. And that's pretty much it, guys. It is live and ready to go on Etsy. So at this point, a customer could come by, click on add personalization, and then they could upload an image, even if they were on their phone or their tablet. [15:04] And so the fact that it works on mobile is huge because over 60% of Etsy's traffic does come from their mobile app. And this used to be really hard or near impossible to get these personalized orders. [15:16] The photo upload process on phone was just really bad. So now this is going to be a huge improvement for anyone selling personalized print-on-demand products. If you want additional assistance, I do have a link in the video description for either a one-on-one call with myself [15:31] or my private community on school where I can help you one-on-one with growing your print-on-demand business and helping you become a creator that essentially earns from the actual things that they're making, whether that's video content or print-on-demand, I can help you succeed in your [15:46] creator-driven business.
