[00:02] an old Land Rover Discovery, an old Mercedes ML, and an old Toyota Land Cruiser? Well, we're going to find out by comparing them in a series of extreme hardcore, no holds barred, I don't care if I break my car off-road challenges. [00:15] I'm not Watson and you're watching Car Wow. work is simple. What we're going to do is time each car across each challenge. It's not about being careful. All these cars cost less than £2,000. So, we're [00:29] just going to go for it and they'll be timed against the clock. The car that three points. The one that comes second gets two and the one that comes last complete a challenge, then it gets no points. The car with the most points at [00:41] the end could be the only car remaining wins. Simple as that. Let's start off with a race across some really rugged, tough terrain. All right, Sam, >> because you actually have the least power from your 2.7 L diesel, but you're [00:56] a stunt pro driver, so you'll set the time. Graeme's going to start you and >> Thank you, sir. >> 3 2 1. [01:21] Whoa. It's like a blooming dar truck. That is [01:52] >> Graeme, what is the time to beat? >> So, the time to beat is 9.1. [laughter] ML, isn't it? [02:04] >> Nick, you're next with your 4.7 235 horsepower V8. >> Let's do this. >> 3 2 1 [02:36] >> 9.4. >> Yes. Right. My go. So, I've got a 2.7 L V6 diesel, 190 horsepower, but this car is heavy. It's the heaviest, 2.4 tons, is heavy. It's the heaviest, 2.4 tons, and it's a manual, so I just don't know. [02:51] and it's a manual, so I just don't know. >> 2. [03:13] seconds. >> Formal protest. think you jumped the start. >> 100%. I don't need to formal protest >> I can't do it again. The car might break. Was I 2 seconds too soon? [03:27] the two and the one. Add 1.5 seconds to your time. >> It's still going to be 82. >> Yay. >> I got stuck there, Graeme, didn't I? A bit of your car definitely got stuck [03:39] >> Do you know what? This brings us on to another point. I think at the end of the video, you've got to decide which car has too much bits of it missing and you it? >> And you'll deduct points according to [03:52] >> Right. What is the next challenge? All more extreme. Let's go extreme. For this second challenge, we are going to raz through the trees, up the hill, up through another set of trees. There [04:05] big rocks. It's a very treacherous course which you'd normally take very against the clock. I'm going to go first because I won the last challenge even though I started early and had to have time added on. I won't be cheating this [04:18] because I am in a manual. >> Here he goes. >> Please stall. >> Two. [05:07] >> 1766. >> That was quite frightening. Oh dear, doesn't it? >> Possibly the worst thing you've ever said out of contact. >> That has to make the edited. [05:20] >> Here we go. >> 3 2 1 >> Oh, right. No hanging around today. Haven't got time to be gentle. [05:43] Up the hill. Up the hill. >> Oh, >> come on. >> Oh, no. [05:56] >> YES. YES. YOU CAN DO IT. >> He's across now. >> He lost momentum. [laughter] >> So, he got a 2255. [06:09] I've got a feeling that Sam might do better. [06:37] EVERYBODY OUT THE WAY. SUN IS COMING. NO. [screaming] [06:56] >> Give him some advice, Graeme. >> Oh, yeah. Don't go back any further. [laughter] >> Sam is stuck. Very badly stuck. [07:08] >> Is it a disqualification? >> It's got to be. It's got that point. >> It was going quite well until it stopped >> It was going quite well until it stopped going quite well. That's right. [07:35] it WOULD LOOK OH, the old dry ice. stuff. It looked good, didn't it? Anyone watching will really appreciate that. But Graeme is doing it based on time. So >> timewise, believe it or not, [07:50] >> So the score so far then, six Land Rover, four Land Cruiser one. But you do have this nice >> and we all know you're not finishing >> No. So this is all point >> I've just I've got to get as many points [08:05] as I can in the bag before my car breaks down. Okay, let's go. Right, for this down this steep hill in the ruts. Probably just sliding on our bellies, at the bottom and coming up this other hill. If we fall into the rut, we might [08:18] almost at the top because there's a big nest of angry bees. But if we have to get out of the car, we could then be in the angry bee danger zone. Now, these can see how I perform down there and decide whether to go faster or slower [08:33] based on my experience. 3 2 1 >> Oh, immediately in the hole. How fast do I dare go? [09:17] And I'd stall it. Formal protest. >> Oh god. What? This is >> 1796. >> You do have the heaviest car here. quick on the way down. I don't know how you came up again. I think it could have [09:31] gone quicker down the hill. So, my tip to you is go fast. >> Ready? >> 3 2 1. [10:02] COME ON. COME ON. [screaming] COME ON. >> NO. Don't get out. The bees will be angry. You're right in the be zone. [10:14] We can't do this. We can't do this. >> Oh no. This is a disaster. Okay. [10:32] [laughter] >> Do you want to know what the time was? >> See, that's the kind of timing I thought we were going to deal with. What was >> Okay. >> I blame the bees somehow. [10:46] >> Well, they stung your tire. >> They did. They punctured my tire. 3 2 1 [10:59] >> OH, IT'S LIKE IT'S JUST falling down there. [11:14] Oh wow. That was so good. 14.4. [laughter] >> points >> three >> two to Land Rover >> one [11:27] >> So that means that the scores are eight to the Land Rover, five to the Land to the Land Rover, five to the Land Cruiser and four to the Mercedes. It's a simple race around this tree. Once again, Graeme will be timing us. [11:40] challenge. >> 3 2 1 [12:00] Where's he gone? Oh, here he is. Whoa. >> WHAT time did we get, Graeme? 13.08. Graeme, it sounds like something's about >> Yeah, it won't be long. >> Prop shaft. So, my prop shaft is loose. [12:16] >> So, Sam's theory that I might not end up finishing this entire video. >> It's a possibility. >> 3 2 1 go. >> 3 2 1 go. >> Doesn't like it at all. [12:48] FLIPPING IT. [laughter] Nick's face. >> I wasn't standing where that cone was. [13:00] >> Oh, you were 1308. YEAH. >> OH, [screaming and groaning] >> SO CLOSE. >> You tried to kill me and didn't even >> Well, I survived that. Well, I survived this. 3 2 1 [13:16] No holds barred. I'm not messing around anymore. [13:36] >> that's it. >> I think that was quicker. OH, >> NO. >> SO, scores are three to the Mercedes, >> SO, scores are three to the Mercedes, two to the Land Rover, and one to the [13:49] Land Cruiser. So, the scores currently are 10 to the Land Rover, seven to the Mercedes, now in second place, and six to the Land Cruiser, which is now last. >> For this next challenge, we're going to drive up these steps. Hopefully, we [14:03] drive around the back down again. Then go up the other step on this slope next go up the other step on this slope next to it with a more extreme step towards finish line. Fastest car wins. Sam's going first again. [14:16] going first again. >> 3 2 1 go. [14:31] GOING FORWARD? SHUT UP. I'M GETTING COVERED IN something's getting wet. >> I am not dqing. Is it a minute yet? Almost a minute. [15:01] >> I'm stuck. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I'm feeling generous. I'm going to give >> If I finish, can I get a point? >> No. [15:13] >> Shake. >> I'm getting my car. hit me full boore. >> You ready, Sam? >> You ready, Sam? >> Yeah. [15:34] >> Okay, >> hold on. READY? HIT ME. >> hold on. READY? HIT ME. YES. YES. [screaming] [15:47] YES. DON'T BE STUCK, NICK. Come on. [16:00] [laughter] The dream team. [16:39] the bushes. Wow, what an amazing thing. 33.81 seconds. This just keeps on going, >> Yeah. Not for longer. >> There is one more challenge remaining. Hopefully can keep on going. >> Let's see what the Land Cruiser can do. [16:53] >> 2. >> Right. Come on then. [17:10] >> Oh. Oh. >> Oh. This is hungry. [laughter] god. >> Well, that was the RIGHT TECHNIQUE. [17:23] >> Well, that was the RIGHT TECHNIQUE. >> OH, GO ON. COME ON, NICK. [17:35] give that to Nick. >> Not only did I rescue the ML, but three wheels. It was magnificent. >> Three points, two points, >> And I get one point for rescuing the ML. >> And one point for rescuing the ML. Oh, [17:48] >> I tell you what you can do. You can have one more go. It will remove that point that he had for rescuing you. >> Done. [laughter] >> Yeah. >> The jeopardy in it for you is that if [18:02] point deducted. Are you going to take that? Okay. >> 3 2 1 go. [18:23] give you another go. But I think what you did there was quite clever that if you were to be half on and half off and it works for you, it works for you. >> What happened was it didn't work. Yeah, it actually failed quite badly. [18:36] >> Yeah, it did. 3 2 1 GO. >> COME ON. [18:51] >> Yeah. >> And save your car for the next run. >> I don't know if I'm going to sleep tonight not doing this. So, I've got to >> Okay. Go on then. >> Got to do it. [19:13] >> YES. COME ON. OUT the way, everybody. COME ON. OUT the way, everybody. COME ON, SAM. GO, GO, GO. [19:35] want to finish the the day. >> So, we're on four points for the Land Cruiser, two for the Discovery, and minus one for the ML. one. >> I mean, that shows determination, [19:48] doesn't it? >> Okay. So, you're on 6 + 4 10. Discover was on 10 + 2 is 12. You were on seven minus one is six, but we're just going to be kind TO SAY SEVEN STILL. >> Let's do the final challenge. So, we've [20:00] going to do is drive up this steep hill, so we're going to need some power and momentum. But both Nick and I have a slight issue. Nick's tires aren't really, they're not on the wheel, but if he changes the tire, he's going to lose [20:12] a point. My car, the prop shaft's waving about and it's not giving full power anymore. So, I'm getting a full code read on it, but if I want to clear a well. >> So, I have to hope that you either [20:25] cannot do this or have to clear that. >> And I have to do that with three wheels point. You'll lose a point. >> If neither of you get up and I do, do I >> Clutch is too hot. >> The clutch is too hot. I'm going to wait [20:37] >> A few moments later. >> So, Nick, what's your choice? You're >> You're just going to go for it. Do you know what? I'm going to just go for it >> If no one makes it hard, it'll be whoever gets the furthest path. Okay, [20:51] help, I've just realized I haven't pressed my power button yet today. pressed my power button yet today. Three, two, one. [21:04] Look at that front wheel. >> Come on. [21:21] >> I think not taking your tire off was the problem. 3. [21:41] >> I'm very impressed, >> but I'm gutted. seconds. >> This is amazing, but I don't think it >> This is amazing, but I don't think it should be over yet. Three, two, one. [22:09] COME ON. NO. [screaming] COME ON, SAM. COME ON, faster. >> Go faster. Three, two, one. [22:41] All four wheels are in the air. >> Do you want another go? Actually, are >> Do you want another go? Actually, are you all right? [22:56] That didn't go well. I need one more go. >> Three, two, one. [23:13] >> NO, [laughter] >> that's it. It's the same place as >> I don't think you can come in at better than that. The angle was perfect. You got the ground clearance. >> That's all sure. I'm half conceded. [23:25] again. >> Think you deserve two points for trying. >> So, the scores after that one, I think three points to the Land Rover. >> Two points to the Mercedes just for effort. One point to the Land Cruiser. [23:39] >> Where does that leave us? >> Well, the Discovery is in the lead with 15 points. The Land Cruiser has 11 and the ML has nine. But it isn't [music] over yet because now we have to find out which car has lost the most bits. Graham [23:53] will inspect each of them and whichever car has the most missing parts will lose two points and whichever car is the most intact only loses one point. front balance. >> Yeah. Front light. [24:06] >> and the number plate. >> Nothing else. >> Perfect. >> Okay. So four correctly laners. >> Surprisingly nothing has fallen off. [24:21] >> The air came out. >> Yes, but the tire stayed down. >> No, no, no, no, no, no. I didn't get a puncher and Matt didn't get a puncher. >> One. Okay. Oh, fine. Okay, I'll concede. [24:34] >> Right. Let's go have a road on the back. >> Yeah, just there. >> Two. >> Not bad, really. So it means three points off the Mercedes, two points off the Discovery, and only one off the Land [24:47] >> So that means the Mercedes is in last place with six points. The Toyota is second with 10 points, but the winner is the Land Rover with 13 points. And that is a huge surprise. We're expecting that to break at any minute because of the [25:01] >> Yeah. But drive it home, Matt. >> I'm not driving it home. [laughter] there's no blue lights on you. >> The one thing we do know is the police wouldn't be able to stop me. >> But this isn't the end of these three [25:15] going to be putting them through the ultimate mechanical torture test. Who builds the toughest engines? Land Rover, Mercedes, or Toyota? We're going to find don't miss it. And if you want to see which of these cars makes the best daily [25:30] driver, you need to click on the video window to [music] watch part one of this
