[00:01] all about to start saying Magneto was wrong. I'm Genie Delgado, and season 2 of X-Men '97 just dropped the first three episodes on Disney Plus, and details, and references to the original animated series. So, I'm going to be
[00:14] everything you missed and what it might mean for our favorite mutants. In the season 2 premiere, Days of Future Past, we get our previously on X-Men from Jean You can go check out my video recapping [music] everything you need to know from
[00:27] the original series. It shows Nightcrawler telling Jean that it was Madelyne Pryor who gave birth to baby Nathan and not her, since she has it happened to her. Then, there's Cyclops and Jean saying goodbye to
[00:39] went to take out Asteroid M and destruction of Asteroid M and the X-Men in the vicinity being pulled through future, meeting Mother Askani and young Nathan, and another group landing in the
[00:51] past and meeting En Sabah Nur, the first mutant who will go on to become Animation title card, which flips through Storm flying from season 1 of '97, and Spider-Man thwipping through. Then, from the Eyes of Wakanda episode,
[01:03] Legends and Lies, we see Bak Kai, aka M'ennonia, then Zombie Scarlet Witch from What If in Marvel Zombies, then the Gambit and Wolverine team-up from season 1 of '97, with a close-up of Gambit's face right before it cuts away. A lot of
[01:15] season of X-Men '97 is leading up to Gambit being resurrected and turned into Apocalypse's Horseman Death, based on the post-credit scene from the end of leaning into that theory here by focusing on Gambit. Then, we get a new
[01:28] opening, still set same amazing theme song. The original theme song was updated here by the Newton brothers, who reportedly created eight different versions. There's the planets behind the X, just like last season, the Blackbird
[01:40] flies in, and so do Storm and Rogue. We get the team lineup, Cyclops with his optic blasts, then it goes to Jean, then Storm, who has her original series hair season. In the original series, Wolverine came after Scott. Here, we get
[01:52] him after Storm in his '80s Uncanny X-Men John Byrne-designed yellow and their human male form to their blank form. We don't see Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Professor X, Bishop, or
[02:04] point in the openings last season, but this is focused just on the team that shooting up at Apocalypse. This is from the OG series season 4 episode 18 Beyond Good and Evil part 1 when Cable and his son Tyler bust into Apocalypse's Lazarus
[02:18] Chamber to destroy it. That was a trap laid by Apocalypse to steal Cable's time opening sequence last year for the episode remember it. Then we see Bishop walking into the time stream with baby Nathan from last season's episode 3 Fire
[02:30] with tears in her eyes. Then Jean, Scott, and Cable crash in the Scott's safe in Jean's psychic bubble from '97 season 1 episode 8 Tolerance is Extinction part 1 after Bastion's prime sentinels were activated. Then Magneto
[02:44] body from episode 9 Tolerance is Extinction part 2. Then just like in the the left in front of the X-Mansion. Storm, Wolverine, Morph, Scott, Bishop, Then Scott is blasting robots in the danger room. This is just like in the
[03:00] flies in with her lightning and then it cuts to her and Forge from Life Death. Mr. Sinister. We saw this in the opening last season as well. Then Forge and Wolverine's adamantium skeleton floating in it. This is from the original series
[03:14] episode 12 Days of Future Past part 2. Then Cable and some rebels fight from the original series season 2 episode 7 Time Fugitives part 1. Then we see Storm flying, then Jean, Scott, Nightcrawler, Storm, Rogue, and Morph
[03:27] in the original series, we see the heroes and villains running towards each other with Magneto, Juggernaut, Emma Frost, Lady Deathstrike, Pyro, Mystique, the right. Humans running from sentinels in the middle, and then Cyclops,
[03:41] Charles, Jubilee, and Jean from the left. Then Charles uses his powers and Magneto uses his and they all crash into each other as the X-Men '97 logo comes up and electrifies. The title of this episode, Days of Past Future, is a
[03:54] the story arc from the original series season 1 episodes 11 and 12. In that arc, Forge sent Bishop back in time to stop the assassination of then Senator assassin, but it was actually Mystique in disguise working on Apocalypse's
[04:08] assassination, but returned to his time to find things were somehow even worse. traveler visiting the X-Men, the X-Men are the time travelers. This episode was written by Brian Ford Sullivan, who also wrote on Arrow. It was directed by Emmet
[04:22] artist on a bunch of animated stuff and directs a lot of these episodes. It opens in Forge's house, which we first saw last season in Life Death Part 1. Trish Tilby, voiced by Donna J. Falks, is on the TV reporting for FC News, and
[04:34] transformation into a Prime Sentinel. It's crazy that she's still a reporter human Sentinel hybrid. Like, I know they didn't really know what they were that months have passed since the X-Men disappeared. Bishop says that ever since
[04:49] to look more like Bishop's future. Again, we saw that future in a few was always some different version of a dystopian nightmare. Bishop is voiced by by Philip Aiken in the original series. Both men are prolific voice actors.
[05:04] time portal, creating the wrist temporal receivers that we saw in Days of Future Past. Those stabilize a time traveler in time. Forge can invent anything he can the tech that he'll one day use to send Bishop back in time in the first place.
[05:18] who you'd recognize from a ton of stuff, including the Twilight movies and Mars and Buffy. In the original series, Forge was voiced by Mark Strange. The different time traveling groups: Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Morph, and
[05:32] Wolverine in 3960 AD, the 40th century, in the Atlantic basin, apparently the Atlantic basin is the area that holds the Atlantic Ocean, and it covers a huge portion of the Earth. And in the past, 3000 BCE, before the common era, in the
[05:46] Nile Delta, Charles, Magneto, Beast, Nightcrawler, and Rogue the dawn of Apocalypse's first reign. The Nile Delta is in northern Egypt. It begins in so that Forge can go to the future and reunite with Storm who he got romantic
[05:59] with last season. In 3960 AD, we see the blue flash as Forge arrives. fly in. These are the same as the ones from the original series season 2 episode time fugitives which were modeled after Terminator's T-1000s.
[06:12] and dead coral reef everywhere since this is an apocalyptic Atlantic basin fights the cyber hounds and is saved by Wolverine voiced by Cal Dodd same as the on tin cans just like he did in the original whenever he'd refer to the
[06:27] >> Got to get moving before another round of those tin cans gets a bead on our >> Wolverine now has bone claws since his adamantium was ripped out by Magneto at claws extend here, they're given this ripping flesh sound instead of the clean
[06:41] metal sound of the shwing when his adamantium claws would come out and you grimaces in pain and at one point those bone claws even actually break. Forge >> To quote my dear friend, Oh my stars and garters.
[06:55] >> This is a frequent Beast saying. Storm is also voiced by the original actress immediately get everyone back to the present but there's a complication. without Nathan who they still haven't told is Scott and Madeline's son. Since
[07:07] Jean has all the same memories as Madeline, she considers Nathan her son sending Nathan into the future and landing him in this hellscape. Jean is voiced by Jennifer Hale who's done a ton of voice acting for cartoons and video
[07:19] on. Original Jean voice actress Catherine Disher was actually brought back to voice Val Cooper. Scott is voiced by Ray Chase. Original series voice actor Norm Spencer passed away in 2020. Scott and Jean wear their X-Factor
[07:31] Askani. They convince Forge to give them the day to say goodbye to Nathan. Runner looking citadel are a ton of dead humans and mutants and even more are locked up awaiting their fate. In the original series, we saw Cable in 3999 AD
[07:46] arc. This looks like the same pyramid citadel structure from that episode. So, in under 40 years, if things stay on track, it should get destroyed by Cable. voiced by Tony Amendola, who you'd recognize from a ton of stuff. He served
[08:00] recruit his horsemen and find him new vessels. He has a granite body, can animate stone, and is immortal. He tells Apocalypse and if he takes over his body, he won't ever have to regenerate again. In the
[08:14] original animated series, Apocalypse was voiced by John Colicos. He played Balter in the OG 70s Battlestar Galactica. In season 5, James Blendick took over horseman and descent. Colicos passed away in 2000. Here, Ross Marquand takes
[08:27] over the role. He also voices Charles, whose original voice actor Cedric Smith is now 82 and I think mostly retired. In the original series season 5 episode The Fifth Horseman, Jubilee was actually going to be the vessel for Apocalypse,
[08:39] but after she escaped, Apocalypse used Fabian Cortez instead. This was after expelled Apocalypse in the Axis of Time. With his regeneration chamber destroyed thanks to Cable, he existed formless in a void. Apocalypse tasks his four
[08:52] are horsemen we didn't see in the original series, and this is awesome. They're known as the final horsemen to be called upon only as a last resort when all else is lost, and they are: Ichisumi as Pestilence. She's a Japanese
[09:04] mutant that can unleash a horde of Yumi beetles stored in her own body. She can mentally linked to her, so when they're harmed, she feels their pain. Decimus Furius as War. He's an ancient Roman mutant that looks like a bull. In his
[09:16] minotaur god. He's extremely strong, can heal, and his axe can inflict war blood loss on someone if they're hit with it. Jeb Lee as Famine. He was an American Confederate soldier who dressed like a Union soldier to spy. Using his drum, he
[09:29] eats away at anyone who hears it. And He's ancient Persian mutant. He can inflict terminal illnesses on people. contained mostly to his arm. Jean helps him telepathically control the virus.
[09:43] Apocalypse, which we saw in the original series. But right now, Nathan sees constantly fighting through the pain of the virus, and so he has a hard time to Mother Askani about Nathan, and they talk about fate and hope and prophecies.
[09:57] Johnston, and Mother Askani is voiced by Gates McFadden. Askani has the power of telepathy and telekinesis, and I'll talk more about her and who she is in a episode. In the corner of the room are various items from Nathan's childhood,
[10:10] including the X blanket he was wrapped in as a baby, some drawings, one of a woman with red hair who presumably is his mom, a tree with stars around it, portal that Bishop took him through, and a drawing of what looks like the
[10:22] bear. This kind of looks like the one that was in his nursery in the X-Mansion was showing everyone their nightmares. Although Bishop didn't seem to have that stream. Mother Askani says that Nathan will shatter the cradle of Apocalypse's
[10:36] original series. Scott asks her who she is, and she avoids answering. Morph other than try and toss a baseball around with Nathan. Morph is voiced by Rubin in the original, who voices President Kelly in this current
[10:51] in the original. Scott and Jean take off with Nathan, but the cyber hounds with them, and they get taken. Mother Askani says this. >> According to the prophecy, [music] the one destined to destroy Apocalypse
[11:06] will rise from the cradle that birthed his power, an ancient craft that came from the stars, forged by beings some >> She's talking about Apocalypse's ship, and in the original series season 3
[11:20] episode obsession, Beast said something similar when he encountered it for the booby-trapped by Apocalypse to trap the X-Men and try to kill them. Hence "We've seen this bucket of junk before. Ship eventually helped the X-Men and
[11:34] shot him out into space before Ship itself crashed down into the ocean. Ship and Hank had become friends, so he was very upset about this. It's never stated the ones who created Ship. Apocalypse's slave train is bringing Jean, Scott, and
[11:48] it inside the Citadel, the others won't be able to get in. Forge says he can lot of power. So, Askani convinces Storm to harness a solar storm. This is comics, but never on the show. Askani says that in her timeline, she's seen
[12:02] her do it before. Mother Askani reveals that she was the one who sent the X-Men to train Nathan to help him destroy Apocalypse, and the past team was sent to try and thwart En Sabah Nur before he even turns into Apocalypse. As Mother
[12:14] the Phoenix Force can be seen in her eyes, and I'll talk more about this and On the slave train, Jean tries to get Nathan to guide the techno-organic virus out, but he's feeling too weak and starts spiraling, wondering why his
[12:29] special. Jean and Scott speak the words that Madeline spoke to him when he was and realizes what's up. He digs deep and sends the virus into the collar and parents. They fight the Horsemen again, better prepared this time. Then we get
[12:44] others arrive. They each get their powers on. Storm uses arctic winds to into Thor and bashes him with his hammer, shattering the drum. Forge uses his guns, Wolverine his bone claws, Cyclops his optic blasts. Then Nathan
[12:58] uses his telekinesis skills a cyber hound gun and starts blasting away. Jean looking distinctly cabley in this moment. Right before the train crashes near the Citadel, Ozymandias turns into sand and blows away. He tells Apocalypse
[13:11] is pissed that the X-Men always spoil his plans. So, he decides to time travel to strike them at their most vulnerable, the 1990s. He takes off and the enslaved Nathan is going to help and lead them, and that they will turn into the rebels
[13:24] we saw him leading in the the series. Ship greets Nathan, and he links up with The animators give nods to Ship's celestial origins here with all the swirling gold circles and tech designs. In the original series, Cable, adult
[13:36] Nathan, carried Ship with him on his arm computer and she helped him with upgrades his arm, which contains a virus, and then it cuts to adult Cable with his arm outstretched in the same pose. Cable is voiced by Chris Potter,
[13:49] who, fun fact, voiced Gambit in the original series. Original series Cable was Lawrence Bayne, who voiced the Executioner in season 1 of '97 and is lot of the original voice actors who are still around got new roles in the
[14:01] series, which is awesome. As Cable talks, there are a ton of Easter eggs a post-it note that reads Apocalypse sighted in Genosha. That might have been the end of season 1 when he picked up Gambit's playing card. There's an image
[14:14] to be worshipping him. There's a piece of paper with located hideout and a bunch of red circles on it connecting to one another. A Polaroid of what appears to be Apocalypse standing in the window of a brick building with the date 786 on
[14:26] barber who does X-Men inspired haircuts and uses the hashtag 786X-Men on social that's more redacted than the Epstein files. There's a picture of Apocalypse intelligent and highly dangerous and Horsemen follow. There's a notebook
[14:41] filled with info on Apocalypse including info about Ship and it reads, "A mighty ship designed by creatures from beyond the stars and periodic dormant times They are the secret to his longevity. He uses them for hibernation every 100
[14:54] photographs. Last season a corner of a Polaroid photo held the clue that there's a partially visible Polaroid with the last name Kyros on it. That's Apocalypse turned into his Horseman War in season 1 episode 10, Come the
[15:09] Apocalypse. Another photo has M N Rolfson on it. That's Autumn Rolfson, same episode. Another Polaroid reads Plague. Plague was a mutant member of Horseman Pestilence. During the time these three were Horsemen, Warren
[15:23] Archangel, the Horseman Death, but Rogue used her powers to drain him just enough control. After that, he became obsessed with killing Apocalypse. There's a on it. This is an image of Bennet du Paris, the mutant Exodus. We saw him
[15:38] massacre, and he was in the trailer for season two, so we know he's coming. In Horseman War. There's a notebook with info about the Horsemen and another probably has info on X-Men in this era. Then we see some places and dates. 1996
[15:53] South America, 1997 Ruins of Genosha, 1993 Stonehenge, Paris, France, FOH Headquarters, 1994 New York City. Most of these are dates and places we saw Apocalypse in in the original series. In that come the Apocalypse episode, his
[16:06] Stonehenge. I think Cable is keeping track of all the places Apocalypse revealed that Cable is talking to Archangel and Psylocke, who were both used by Apocalypse. Archangel when he was turned into Death, and Psylocke when
[16:18] psychics to try and end existence itself. Psylocke is voiced by Ngo Vu Mori, who just had a hilarious role in the final season of The Boys. Tasha Sims Archangel is voiced by Christopher Barger. In the original, he was voiced

[18:07] so it's time for a few spoilers. If you to the breakdown of episode 2. So, in the comics, Mother Askani is, again, spoiler alert, Rachel Summers, Scott and Jean's daughter and Nathan's sister.
[18:21] hence why you could see that in her eyes in this episode. Like her brother, she point. Her comic story is sprawling and a little convoluted, but basically, when Cable destroyed Apocalypse, the version of her that was Rachel lost in the time
[18:35] stream became the main version of her, and she only retained some vague know if we'll find out who she is this season or not, but maybe we'll get that story in season 3. Okay, on to episode 2, "A Force to Be Reckoned With." And
[18:47] that force is X-Force. This episode is written by Anthony Salicci and Mariah credit for them. It was directed by Emmett Yonemura, just like the last one. The previously on X-Men is said by Cable this time. We get a recap from season 1.
[19:00] Roberto talks about how his mom handed him over to the Prime Sentinels. Then he Bastion. Asteroid M blows up and Jubilee is sent spiraling away in the blast. in this episode. The fact that they were back on the ground by the time the
[19:13] asteroid blew up probably explains why they weren't also pulled through time. goodbye to Cable, then Asteroid M blows up and on the ground Jubilee, Dr. Cooper, Roberto, and Forge look up at the explosion. The episode opens in
[19:26] present day 1997 with a shot of a playground. One swing on a swing set childhood activity was cut short because of all the crap mutant kids are dealing see a group of five mutant kids running
[19:39] kids who will go on to become the group Generation X, the next gen superhero team that first appeared in Uncanny X-Men number 318 in 1994. Here we see the members Monet St. Croix, also known as M or Penance. She's the one in the
[19:52] red-skinned, spiky-haired mutant. She has heightened senses and abilities and is telepathic. Wing is the one in the blue jacket and yellow shirt. He can Quentin Quire, aka Kid Omega, an omega-level telepath. We see a few other
[20:05] members of Generation X later in the episode. As the kids run, a spotlight shines down and we're about to get our second non-X-Men team in a matter of they were going for, the X-Mansion, but Xavier's school is still abandoned and
[20:18] who we saw in the original series episode Cold Comfort. X-Factor here is made up of Lorna Dane, aka Polaris, Magneto's daughter who has his power of metal manipulation, Alex Summers, aka Havok, who is Scott's brother, although
[20:31] the animated series and they didn't know they were brothers. There was a fun wouldn't work on one another and they were both confused. Multiple Man is the kids run through. Wolfsbane and Strong Guy are also there. In the original
[20:44] Havok says this. >> We're definitely the good guys. Sunspot in the season one premiere. >> Definitely the good guy. the US government and here it seems they're rounding up mutant kids claiming
[21:00] violence against mutant youth is on the rise. On the TV news report, Havok and Polaris take in Jonathan Starsmore, Chamber, another member of Generation X. Jubilee watches on the TV, on the wall next to her is a menu. One of the menu
[21:14] items is mall babe chili fries. This is a reference to a Jubilee line from the two-part pilot of the original series "Night of the Sentinels". >> Does a mall baby chili fries? >> Jubilee is voiced by Holly Chou. In the
[21:26] Court. Court came back last season to voice Absissa. Roberto is voiced by Gui Agustini. Jubilee and Roberto are in a mall arcade, maybe the same one from annoyed that they're not doing more to help mutants and that Roberto is playing
[21:40] episode I mentioned earlier, Iceman Bobby Drake talks about how Polaris, his more for mutantkind after both of them left the X-Men. Jubilee brings up Polaris' former X-Men status later on to guilt her. of them and while he talks,
[21:54] he eats chili fries and an ice cream float. Probably way better food than is Roberto have luggage with them, which means they've probably been hiding out end of last season. Cable recruits them for his mission, hands Jubilee the
[22:07] folder we saw last episode, and we can see some new details here. In the upper there by a photo of the worship temple where he tried to force Jubilee to be original series episode, "The Fifth Horseman". On a posted note is a list of
[22:21] Apocalypse's followers with F. Cortez, then Caliban. He was a Morlock that Apocalypse's hounds, not the cyber hounds we saw last episode. Three of the right in the red and black suits. And under that are the names of the Four
[22:34] Warren Worthington was able to break free from Apocalypse's control. There's flying from the episode "Come the Apocalypse". Under an FBI wanted note is obscured, but the ones I can read are L. Simonson and J. Guice. That first one is
[22:49] book writer who co-created the character of Cable. The second is for Jackson Guice, a Marvel Comics artist. On the other page, in addition to what we saw reads legacy virus. That was a plague Apocalypse engineered to wipe out humans
[23:03] Fugitives arc. Above the poster reading En Sabah Nur is an image of him from an artifact that's the same one from the episode Obsession found by Archangel killing Apocalypse. Jubilee asks Cable if this new team has a name and we get
[23:16] an awesome alt opening that mirrors the original. Instead of Storm and Rogue Archangel and Sunspot in a different aircraft, the plane Cable flies is Jubilee, Psylocke, and Cable with Cable standing just like his dad was in
[23:30] X-Men logo, it's X-Force. Then the lineup, the explosion, and Cable instead of Cyclops shooting at Sentinels. Then Jubilee, Sunspot, then Psylocke, then Archangel. We get some new images mixed in with the old ones. Jubilee and
[23:43] Absissa from the Motendo episode, Sunspot powering up. Then X-Force runs The Generation X kids do the run-up to the chain link fence that Jubilee did in the OG series and Sunspot did in season 1. Val Cooper freeze Magneto, X-Factor
[23:57] convert Warren from the cure and come Archangel is from Obsession. Jubilee trains with Psylocke. This explains why later in this episode. Then the villains run in from the right. Apocalypse, his
[24:11] Caught in the middle are the young mutants being pursued by a Sentinel. The one we saw playing on Genosha in Remember It who could turn into a parrot. Chamber is there, too. Then X-Force runs in from the left. Cable
[24:23] place occupied by Charles and Apocalypse takes the place of Magneto. Then they X-Force logo that gets electrified. Then we're in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil during Carnival. Psylocke uses her mental powers to try and find war as Archangel
[24:37] Sunspot dance just like they did in the club in season 1. They spot war walking Jubilee and Sunspot do a pair-up move similar to the fastball special. The probes his mind. This is something Charles usually avoided doing, probing
[24:51] Jubilee is uncomfortable with this and she's about to get a whole lot less comfortable in a second. Psylocke sees Apocalypse praising War as War brings a casket in. This is almost definitely Gambit's casket that we saw in bright
[25:04] eyes. With Archangel out of his control, Apocalypse needs a new death and baby, that's going to be Gambit. The name's death, remember it. Apocalypse says we blood. He said this in the original series. Then Psylocke comes across a
[25:17] wall of diamonds blocking her. Archangel kills War after explaining to Jubilee Archangel was able to break free from Apocalypse's control was because Rogue diamond wall and psychic block must be the work of Emma Frost, so they visit
[25:31] tells X-Force that War needed her to help him smuggle cargo into Switzerland. conversion tech that Apocalypse uses to turn mutants into Horsemen and it's more advanced than what he used on War in just a few years ago. Again, they're
[25:44] really laying out the clues that Gambit was recently raised and then converted. waiting for them. They fight with Archangel sending his metal wing blades control powers to redirect them. Then
[25:57] Strong Guy tells Cable, "Don't bring a gun to a fist fight." A great twist on the don't bring a knife to a gun fight actual quote. Also, I think Cable has no whenever he's facing down Havok. Strong Guy is voiced by Adrian Hough, who also
[26:09] voices Nightcrawler. Most of X-Force escapes, but Jubilee gets nabbed and center in Washington D.C. where all the mutant kids wear power-dampening collars. Polaris and Havok interrogate her. After Polaris and Iceman left the
[26:21] together with Havok after she joined the team. Jubilee calls Havok knock-off more if he knew that that was his brother. Polaris always had a strong Jubilee appeals to that here asking if Charles would be proud of what she's
[26:36] with the other mutant kids. We see the kids from the opening scene, Quentin This is Everett Thomas, aka Synch, copy other mutants' powers when he's near them. Across from that cell is a
[26:49] girl with antlers and this is Lin Li, Nature Girl. She can communicate with bubbles on his head is Artie Maddicks. He's a telepath and at some point he'll is Dust, Sooraya Qadir. She can transform into a dust cloud. The blonde
[27:03] girls with the pigtails are the Stepford Cuckoos, Celeste, Esme, Irma, Sophie, later on when they're outside you can see all five of them. They're actually clones of Emma Frost. The little alien-looking girl is Maggie. She has
[27:15] and tragic. In the original series episode Have Yourself a Morlock little X-Mas, Jubilee bonded with the green, big-eyed Morlock Ariana. So, she's little mutant girls. And seeing Maggie with the collar on and terrified sends
[27:29] through to Polaris, who shuts down the cameras and deactivates her collar, allowing Jubilee to try and fight her way out of the facility. And fight her moment where the blaring alarm leads into the music on her headphones, Veruca
[27:42] it's evident how far she's come in that arena, thanks to Cable and Psylocke's power from the bottoms of her feet to push off a wall, a move we haven't seen and we see that Glob Herman is there. He's the pink skeleton blob guy that we
[27:57] saw last season on Genosha. The green spiky mutant is Victor Korkowski, aka could turn into a parrot that I mentioned earlier are there, too. She gets clotheslined when she's almost
[28:09] afraid to escape on her own. She fights off more goons and then puts Maggie on her back. There's a famous comics cover by Alex Ross that has Angel flying up with Maggie in his arms. So, this girl is always being carried places. When
[28:21] off to Nature Girl and then fights some more. Cable and the others arrive, and Cable is such a proud papa, seeing Jubilee fight like this. Archangel picks up a bird-looking kid. This is Barnell Bohusk, also known as Beak, one of the
[28:34] stranger-looking X-Men characters. He has bird-like powers, like hollow bones and talons and the ability to glide. Val Cooper, consistently on the wrong side stops Jubilee, who rollerblades off the helicarrier and is caught by Roberto, a
[28:46] move he also pulled last season. Cooper gives a press conference denouncing says that where they're going is no place for kids, and Cable says kids are tougher than he thinks. And it cuts to him as a kid, young Nathan, getting his
[28:59] computer cube tells him that he needs to send the X-Men back to their time. And him, Nathan makes the hard decision to send them anyway. Episode 3, Rise of Apocalypse Part 1. Magneto does the Previously on X-Men for this one. During
[29:13] Season 1, assuming X-Men didn't make it through the explosion. Bishop reminds several times in the original series run, including in the Days of Future Past storyline. Rogue, Nightcrawler, Beast, and Magneto land in the past and
[29:26] new opening title sequence in as many episodes. These animators are really is the same as last season or the original series, but in terms of new to the past, we get Magneto first, then Rogue, Beast, Nightcrawler, and
[29:40] Professor X. Long-haired Bishop swirls through time. This is from Season 1, Episode 11 of the original series, Days of Future Past. Apocalypse marches Charles puts on Cerebro. Magneto puts on his helmet. Then Charles enters
[29:53] Magneto's mind, which we saw last season in Tolerances Extinction Part 3. Rogue episode, Bright Eyes. We see Beast sweating at the computer from Tolerances swords is from Tolerances Extinction Part 1. Magneto rising up is from Part 3
[30:07] again. Then we see the past group flying through time. This episode was written writer, J.B. Ballard, and it was directed by Chase Conley. DeMayo was let stuff went down behind the scenes that I don't have time to get into here. We
[30:20] with the team that went to the future back in the present, wondering where Bishop and the rest of the past team are, and why they're not back yet. It advanced tech here that shouldn't be in this time. Magneto talks to En Sabah
[30:33] Waterson, after being voiced mainly by David Hemblen in the original, although filled in when Hemblen wasn't available. Hemblen passed away in 2020 and Moyer in 2017. En Sabah Nur is voiced by lost actor Adetokumboh M'Cormack. Magneto
[30:47] burden to be the first of your kind. When the original series was made, En first mutant in the canon of the MCU, although they've since retconned that a this show, the characters still understand him to be the first. It's
[31:01] trying to guide En Sabah Nur in the hopes that he can both sway how future and that he'll never turn into Apocalypse. But, Magneto tells him that he could become a god among insects, so I'm not sure if he's the right one to
[31:14] Apocalypse referred to others as insects a lot of times. The Sandstormers ride tribe of raiders who believed in the survival of the fittest, an idea part of that tribe at one point, and they later took in En Sabah Nur as one
[31:29] of their own. Then, we get some very interesting scenes when the camera pans to Rama-Tut himself, a Kang variant. In the original show, in the Beyond Good and Evil arc, we saw Immortus, another Kang variant, guarding the Axis of Time,
[31:41] most of those episodes. Rama-Tut is clearly the reason there's all this anachronistic tech here. Rama-Tut is voiced by John DeLancie, who a lot of speaks to him is Candra. She appeared in the original series, and we saw her in
[31:54] series, they never said her real name. She was only known as the External. This was in the season 2 episode Externally Yours. At that point, she was a powerful entity accepting tithes from the Guild of Assassins and the Guild of Thieves,
[32:07] the comics, Candra was one of the Externals, a group of powerful immortal mutants. They can only be killed by another External. Rama-Tut seems Sandstormers are being led by En Sabah Nur, which makes sense since he and his
[32:21] happen in the past and future and in other timelines. He doesn't want En Sabah Nur to get to the temple and the power he seeks before he does. I'll talk more about this and what that power is later on. Rama-Tut tasks General Logos
[32:33] comics, Logos was Rama-Tut's right-hand man when he was in this time period. the voice of Mr. Sinister in both the original and the new series. We see some Rama-Tut uses for enforcement and security. He created a few different
[32:47] looked like mummies and others modeled after Egyptian gods, and we see almost all of them here at some point. Slaves erect statues around the city. Logos to feel very bad for this poor elephant in a minute. En Sabah Nur plans his
[33:01] voiced by Michael Dorn. Michael Dorn is the goat. He played Worf in Star Trek, any animated show you can imagine. It's always awesome to hear him show up in En Sabah Nur into the Sandstormers. Magneto watches this along with an
[33:16] that Magneto is risking their fate from a mutant who can't be trusted. This is usual debates, since Magneto is trying to guide Nur while Charles has too much this. In the original series in the Beyond Good and Evil arc, when
[33:30] Apocalypse had all the psychics kidnapped, including Charles, Magneto he'd promised him that he would resurrect Magneto's dead wife. But 1, we got all the Magneto was right moments, and this season I think Charles
[33:43] right when En Sabah Nur turns into Apocalypse. But hey, it's cool to see Magneto being the optimist for once. Nur gives his people an inspirational mutant who will become Apocalypse with more depth is very nice. We get shades
[33:57] future belongs to the strong." And when they all start chanting, "Survival of give looks. And you know Charles is like, "Dude." And Magneto is like, "Dude, yeah." The Sandstormers attack, but Rama-Tut has a lot of robot-y
[34:11] single-handedly fights his way through them. I love how Logos has jawbones adorning his outfit as if the elephant wasn't terrifying enough. Then Nur grabs nothing to do with any of this, and he swings him around and flings him into
[34:26] one of the structures. Nur walks up on a struggling Logos, and Nur's shadow is Apocalypse's shadow for a brief moment, his footsteps echoing a brief moment, his footsteps echoing the sounds
[34:47] way home. But while he's a genius, he doesn't have the same ability Forge does or the access to as much power and tech and so far it hasn't worked. The team tech they need to succeed. Nightcrawler says he wasn't seen although the locals
[35:01] demon among them. His referring to himself as a demon is a callback to his episode Nightcrawler where German locals and even some of the monks who sheltered I mentioned earlier, Nightcrawler is voiced by Adrian Hough who also voiced
[35:16] who voices Beast and Lenore Zann who voices Rogue are also the original that he still wants to crush Logos like the insect he is and Magneto responds with this. Only a coward feels mighty when stepping on ants. And if that
[35:30] another, I'll eat my hat. Ball is clearly not happy that someone else has his prize mutant's ear and is using that influence to preach mercy. Magneto season to heart as he tells Nightcrawler that mutants need to resist their darker
[35:44] The rest of the team meanwhile isn't on board with this after everything they've Even Beast is frustrated. The death glare they all give Nightcrawler when he fellow mutants and gives them credit for today's victory is amazing. Magneto and
[35:59] Nightcrawler's shoulder and go back and forth arguing about the day's battle. him he had a destiny and Charles is not happy with this. Magnus says I have a destiny. I can do more than just conquer the world. Magneto still blames himself
[36:13] bringing the mutants there but he also blames Charles since everything Magneto was doing was to carry out Charles's dream. But Magneto argues if they play they can return to a future that's better for mutantkind. Charles is
[36:27] get the info he needs, lest it alter the past too much. Nur tries to get him to reveals that he was the one who took baby Nur from the desert after his mother had abandoned him and turned him into a slave.
[36:43] from an unjust past, it's Magneto. He imparts on Nur a bit of the lesson he his mind to try and get him to release some of his anger. >> You are not your past, En Sabah Nur. You are our future.
[36:56] >> Logos tells Charles and Magneto that Rama-Tut is looking for a lost temple of divine beings from the stars that has the means to turn him into a god. than to go brain fishing in some scary waters, and he enters Logos's mind by
[37:09] force. We see a bunch of images. Charles floats through a night sky filled with pyramids. He approaches one and bangs at it with his fist, ordering Logos to free and reaches into the darkness, but a blue glow emanates forth and Charles
[37:22] is pulled inside. A cracked red moon or planet hovers above some desert sands as Charles stands on his own two legs. There seems to be the outline of a form in a second. Charles gasps as he's pulled down into what turns out to be
[37:34] the sand in an hourglass. Now, ever since Loki, hourglasses are sure to make any MCU fan think of the TVA, the Time Keepers, and Kang variants. As Charles around him everywhere, a voice says this.
[37:47] this. >> I am the tide that carries all to the rocks of the eternal shore. Crash against them and be broken. >> Now, a variation of this was famously spoken by Apocalypse in Obsession.
[38:02] >> I am the rocks of the eternal shore. eternal shore. Crash against me and be broken. said, "I am the rocks of the eternal shore. Crash against me and be broken."
[38:16] Whereas when this disembodied voice says it, it says, "I am the tide that carries all to the rocks of the eternal shore crash against them and be broken. Something that seems distinctly black hole-y starts sucking everything towards
[38:28] wave that crashes against rocks and he's standing in front of a temple as the voice says that everything finds its way here. The end. Charles urges the voice to reveal himself and it says, "In time all will see. He is where the end
[38:40] begins." Then Charles is suddenly out of Logos' mind. So, I'm going to explain what we just saw and who that voice actually is. In the end credits, the voice calling to Charles is identified as Eson. In the most basic terms, Eson
[38:52] was a celestial who helped shatter the cosmos to form the multiverse. I think that shadow in the red moon was of Eson. Now, we know that Ship was created by Mother Askkani used to explain where Ship came from is very similar to what
[39:05] Logos said Rama-Tut is looking for. So, I think Eson is attempting to bring En into Apocalypse. Rama-Tut is also made immortal and given the gifts for his own reasons, but also probably to
[39:17] becoming. I think Magneto is about to find out in the next few episodes that he grossly miscalculated here and Nur is in fact going to make it to Ship. Logos' mind and when they return to their hidden room where they've been
[39:30] they find Ball, Nur, and the Sandstormers waiting for them. Magneto tries to explain, but Nur is having none of it and beheads Logos right then and destroy them. Luckily, Bishop got there just in time to disguise himself as a
[39:44] and aids in the fight. Logos' death alerts Rama-Tut to En Sabah Nur's location and there is some very celestial-looking tech and architecture Nur's location as Bishop tries to convince the others to return with him
[39:58] and Rama-Tut laughs maniacally and that's where the episode ends on a hell of a cliffhanger waiting for episode 4. So, that's it for this breakdown of the loving it so far and I don't think they missed a beat from season 1. Go over to
