[00:17] that you can be working on right now so in today's video I am going to go over with you guys step by step how I created this listing here on Etsy this is my listing on my shop and I'm going to show
[00:30] you guys how I created the design how I uploaded it I'm going to show you titles uploaded it I'm going to show you titles tags price everything so if you would like to learn how to do this please stick around we are going to start here
[00:45] on printify that is the print provider that I used for the journal and so the first thing you would do is pick your product and so for this one you would go over to catalog and there's lots of different products here you can choose
[00:58] from the journal I'm going to show you today is going to be under home and living and you'll go down to where it says journals and notebooks and you would go ahead and click that now there are several different choices for
[01:10] journals and notebooks um so as we can see there's some Post-it pads those those may be new um hard cover journals some big Post-it uh cubes and so lots of
[01:23] different ones here's a ring binder soft cover Journal um hard cover Journal so so there's lots of different ones here for you to choose from so what you're going to do is start by choosing the journal that you want to use so let's go
[01:39] ahead and pick one and we can go from there so the journal that I selected the one that's being shown in my shop is this one here it is hard cover Journal mat um and so this is the one that I'm going to show you guys how to design for
[01:54] so the first thing that you're going to do is actually go to start designing and so we'll just go ahead and hit the start design button here and what that's going to do is it's going to show us the dimensions that we need to design for so
[02:06] when we look on the left hand side it'll give you the print area and so that is 46 Sorry 4,065 by 2850 pixels so that is the size that we're going to be working with and so
[02:19] once we know the size we can go ahead and jump over to canva and start designing um and so we're just going to remember this and we're going to go right over to canva and so here I am on can homepage and we're going to go ahead
[02:32] and start by selecting a custom size so we'll go over to the right hand corner of the page where it says custom size go ahead and click that and we're just going to go ahead and put in the dimensions that we just got off of um
[02:44] dimensions that we just got off of um printify and so those were printify and so those were 4,065 by it was 285 Z and we're going to go ahead and hit create a design and this is going to pull up our blank page
[02:59] this is going to pull up our blank page AG so this is our Journal mockup um and so one of the things I like to do is start with some rulers and guides so I've got my rulers and guides on the top and the bottom here um if you
[03:14] don't have that hit shift r on your keyboard that will pull up your rulers can start by doing things like creating a center line so I know where the center of my journal is so now I know that the right side is going to be the front of
[03:27] the journal and the left side is going to be the back of the journal I can also start by putting in just some bleed lines so if I wanted to do that I can throw in some bleed lines at the top of top and the bottom and then some more
[03:42] top and the bottom and then some more bleed lines are going to go side to side and so right now I'm just kind of eyeballing these you can you know get eyeballing these you can you know get the actual template off of printify and
[03:56] use that as well and so that might help but for right now something like that would do so if you can imagine your bleed lines so now this is the front this is the back this will be the binding and you won't get print
[04:11] along the outside so you want to keep your design kind of right in the middle front and back and so that's how that is going to look if we were to go ahead and going to look if we were to go ahead and go back over um to printify here we
[04:23] could go ahead um and download the design template right there so if you hit that you can download the design template and that's just going to save it as a zip file you are going to have to open up that zip file and then you'll
[04:38] just get your your individual file pull it into your downloads now I can go back over to canva and upload that so if I go over to the side where it says uploads and I click that I can hit upload files and I
[04:52] can find the template that I just got okay so if I go ahead and use the template we'll see how close I was on my kind of guidelines here so here is the template that I downloaded and so if I just go ahead
[05:05] pull that out just like that I was relatively close with most of my lines except for the binding was a little bit except for the binding was a little bit wider than anticipated so I can move my
[05:18] guidelines so that they match perfectly with the template and then I can just go ahead and get rid of the template so that it's not the way so for example I've got my guidelines there now and I was pretty close and now I can get
[05:32] guidelines are perfect with the templates not that you can't design with to have to get rid of it obviously before you download the design anyway so I just like to have it out of the way um and so that is the you know easy way to
[05:47] go ahead and decide what sizes and everything you're designing for so now background color now you can do this as a solid color um or you can do it as a graphic or a photo and so I'm going to do that way but you can do any color you
[06:03] do that way but you can do any color you want you can also offer um custom colors solid colors so if you wanted to pick something like five or six solid colors that you wanted to offer um you could do it that way as well for this one to keep
[06:18] it simple I'm going to go ahead and just do one color um with more of a graphic or photo background and then from there we'll go ahead and offer custom um like custom name um personalization sorry so I'm going to
[06:35] go over to the left hand side where it says elements and I'm going to go ahead tan background So Tan oops background and so we can start by looking at photos and I think this is
[06:48] where I got it just sort of this muddled background here so this one's a good one and so what this does is it just gives a little bit of texture to your design um so it's not going to be a solid flat
[07:04] um color but again you can go with solid flat colors there's no problem with that had a little bit of texture here you can do that as well actually I think maybe I like there's another one that has sort of that muddled design to
[07:25] pretty good too if I wanted to make it lighter the easiest way by the way to to make it lighter and go over to edit and just do my adjust features and I could go ahead and make it a little bit brighter and I could go ahead and
[07:40] take the saturation down a little bit so it's a little bit more muted and so I could do something a little bit more like that if I wanted to little bit more like that if I wanted to go a little bit more in the tan
[07:56] looks cool and so you can see how we can just sort of play with these I was on photos I mean I could also go with graphics and again there's lots of different kind of tan backgrounds that I could pick um you can do any background
[08:10] you want for a journal you probably want it to be relatively solid in color meaning just no patterns I wouldn't do any patterns and then put text it's would do something that's a little bit more solid like this um it can have a
[08:24] wouldn't do anything that's got a lot of small patterns um or you can of course just go with solid and that works too okay so I played with it a little bit I okay so I played with it a little bit I brought down the saturation I brought up
[08:39] the um brightness I brought down the contrast until I got something that was sort of a light subtle background that just gives a little bit of sort of that just gives a little bit of sort of that textured or oldfashioned look to it um
[08:53] and just kept that light color Journal there and so again you can pick any color any style background you want no problem solid colors textures photos Graphics gradients I mean you name it you can be as creative as you want with
[09:08] the background or as simple as you want with the background but once you have decided what you want on the background we're going to go ahead and create our not you want anything on the back or whether you want the back to just be
[09:21] something that has the design on the front and a design on the back and so the one that I made from my shop because my shop kind of specializes in more like um the medical field students and and professionals so I went with a physical
[09:37] therapist so it just made sense but I'm going to do one that's just going to say DPT it's going to say doctor of physical therapy and then it's going to be person's name on there and so what this
[09:50] a physical therapist or a graduation gift for example um and so instead of gift for example um and so instead of using just a regular uh text to create using just a regular uh text to create the DPT I decided to use um graphic
[10:05] letters and so there's lots of great graphic letters that canva has that look really nice and so if I was to go over to elements for example let's say I just to elements for example let's say I just wanted the letter d i could put letter D
[10:19] and search and search through my Graphics here and what you're going to Graphics here and what you're going to see is a whole bunch of different letter D's and there's some cool like floral looking ones ones there's cartoony ones
[10:31] I mean pretty much if you scroll down all sorts of different ones ones that look like they're lights one that looks like there's a balloon Christmassy one there um some different scripty ones this one has a cut through in it already
[10:44] so I'm looking for something that's a little bit more elegant a little bit more floral because I'm selling this on Etsy Etsy does tend to have a little bit of that more kind of feminine feel and so this would probably be targeted more
[10:56] towards the female um audience anyway so we're looking for something that's going to look cool here's a really neat one oh that's a really cool D so I could
[11:08] detailed and I could pick whatever color I want for that and so that's a cool one you can go to magic recommendations and then it will usually show you the rest of the letters in that group so if you just start with one letter and kind of
[11:22] find the style you want then it's a little easier to find the rest here is another D that's kind of got that uh floral look to it this one has more of a glitter color to it so I'm not really going to go with that one so I'm still
[11:37] just looking for something a little bit floral this one has colored flowers on it um which is one way that you could do it would be to have colored flowers versus just having it all one solid color little graffiti style golden
[11:57] one's got those flowers in it but it's really all over and a little bit tough to read so I want something a little bit more simple by the way if you know what you want you can refine your search even more so I went with letter D I just did
[12:11] another search that said letter D and then floral and it's going to pull up all the floral ones so if you know that that's what you're looking for it'll make it a lot easier to scroll or if you knew you wanted letter D like cartoon
[12:23] style or you wanted letter d gold or you wanted letter D glitter or letter D balloon you can be specific if you know what it is that you want so with that in mind I found this one looks pretty cool and I did like that because it's a
[12:36] little bit more subtle with the flowers so that's a good one there and then I can click on the magic recommendations and see if I can find my other letter so I have a d i want to here's a p and there's a couple
[12:50] different ones so this one just has you know more of like the leaves this one has more of the flowers I like the flowers PT so actually that looks pretty
[13:03] good there so I like these let's say I'm going to go with these they're nice and floral they look pretty um unless I find other ones that I like of course there's just again tons and I can also go back to my
[13:17] little bit more too to see if there's something else that I like different styles of flowers flowers in different areas so lots of ones that I can look through here so I've settled on this so what we're going to do is we're going to
[13:32] start by shrinking these down and lining them up so that's easy enough to do shrink down line up until I get them about the size that I want so that looks pretty good there I'm going to move them maybe
[13:48] good there I'm going to move them maybe a little bit more in so something like that looks pretty good can always use the arrows on my keyboard too to move them just like one
[14:02] pixel at a time if I have trouble adjusting but like right there that looks pretty good now I do have another little tip here sometimes it's easier to group all of these together and then move and resize them as one but because
[14:15] we've got this background on here it would group that in there so what you can do if you want to go ahead and group these and move them would just be to temporarily slide that background out of the way and then I can go ahead and
[14:27] group these and now I can take this group and I can move it anywhere I want the page so if I want it up a little bit more if I kind of want to center it um within my lines I can do it that way and so that's easy
[14:41] and then I can go ahead and just put my background back and so that's a piece of cake um now I also want to change the colors of these two so right now they're going to go with something that was more of like a navy
[14:55] blue so let's see if I can pick a navy blue that I like and then I'll go ahead and use that for all of them so I was looking for something maybe a little bit softer maybe something a little bit more in there and right now this is actually
[15:11] giving me two different colors too so there's a blue and a black so I mean I that one a different color if I wanted to if I wanted to make it again another blue but a lighter blue I could do something like that make them different
[15:26] shades of blue or I could just make them both the same color and then that works as well I might just go with the same color just to keep it really simple here and so let's go ahead and just change all three of these I'm going to just
[15:40] change the colors on all of these to that navy blue that I picked and so there now I've got my navy blue I really like that I'm going to go ahead and zoom in on this too so it's a little easier to see okay now we're
[15:52] going to add a line of text here that's going to say doctor physical therapy and going to have the name and so I'm just going to hit t on my keyboard that'll pull up my text box and so the first thing I want to write is
[16:05] of physical therapy and so that is my first line of text it's going to go right under here I'm shrink that down a little second and then I'm going to add one more line of text so I hit t on my
[16:21] keyboard again and at the bottom I'm going to put the custom name so for right now I'm just going to put my name so there we go custom name there at name so there we go custom name there at the bottom shrink that in a little
[16:34] bit and so that's going to be kind of the layout there and of course these I'm matching color so I'm just going to go ahead right now and change the color to that navy blue and so what I'm thinking here is to
[16:47] do a nice light scripty font for this that'll kind of accent the light lightness of like the flowers here and then for this more of a professional font that is going to match more of actual letters up here the DPT so this
[17:01] floral this one's going to go kind of more with the letter style and so if I'm more with the letter style and so if I'm starting here I would go up and I might do a search for like um script for
[17:14] would work and I could start going through the different scripts and see if I find a script that's going to work I'm looking for something that is going to be a little bit lighter so thinner as opposed to some of the thicker scripts
[17:30] so something that looks a little bit formal so if we were looking at that for example that might be a good one and so that's kind of flowy formal nice I want it to be pretty simple what you're looking for is something again that
[17:45] matches so for example I wouldn't want to do that that's a lot thicker and it doesn't really go with the style at all so I am just looking for something that's going to be light more like that and you can again pick any style you
[17:59] want it doesn't matter what font you choose to use so I went ahead I looked for a while and I decided on a font that was called Geraldo Island so let's see
[18:11] Geraldo Island regular and so that looked nice it was a little bit scripty but not like too over the top it looks handwritten um and so I really liked that and I just put it simply underneath and then I was going to go down here I'm
[18:26] going to pick another font so for this one I'm looking for something again that's a little bit more formal you might try searching corporate and so corporate fonts and you can go ahead and scroll
[18:38] through those some of the corporate ones that I tend to like are alike I like a lot uh the text uh gy what termis I like a lot too so those are both ones that I use a lot for more
[18:52] of the the corporate style or the professional style look I ended up going professional style look I ended up going with a like for this one and I kept it pretty simple there so I'm gonna go ahead and make
[19:07] that a little bit bigger in the bottom I can Center it within my guidelines which can Center it within my guidelines which is nice and so that would be the front of my journal right there and so that looks pretty good and then for fun for
[19:19] the back you could leave the back plain or you could put little like Floral a little flower that kind of matched these just a light flower and put a Floral Accent Accent on the back because this is obviously targeted towards a
[19:32] female anyways I don't see a man necessarily wanting this not that they couldn't but you can do different styles as well so I thought let's go ahead and pick a nice simple flower to put on the back so you can get in go back to
[19:45] elements and I can put simple flower and see what comes up so flower drawing flower outline um I guess you would want something that's a little bit more of a flower outline and there are just some really like simple flower
[20:02] things that you could put so for like example like here's flower I could make that navy blue and stick it right there and I could make it big or I could make it small depending on how you know how I
[20:15] be the back of the journal and you could pick anything you want so I mean that's a pretty big one you could do something that was a little bit smaller you just want it to kind of look as though it goes with this style so you wouldn't
[20:28] again I wouldn't want to do this style and then do like that flower right that wouldn't look like it goes together so just you know if you pick something that just you know if you pick something that looks you know relatively cohesive then
[20:41] that'll work just fine here's another pretty one oops and so there's another just kind of thin line drawing of a flower flowers that kind of look pretty I can go to the magic recommendations too and see other
[20:56] similar ones with this kind of style that look good and so just lots of really kind of more simple ones anything that you want to do is going to work just fine so let's say I just decided to go
[21:11] with this so this is pretty simple so this is now my template so when I get the custom orders this is what I'm going to have to go back to and just change the name here for the custom orders but so right now I've got my template so
[21:25] it's titled I'm just going to go ahead and put and we're going to share this so I'm going to hit download and no transparent everything it's covering the whole thing so it's just as is I can save it as a
[21:40] PNG and download it and once it's downloaded now we can go ahead and we can go over to uh printify and we can go ahead and put it up so I'm going to go back over to my printify so I'm still on my journal page
[21:54] here and now I'm going to go ahead and upload my design so I can go over to the upload if you click that then you can click my device it should pull up your downloads and from there you can go ahead and pick your um your design that
[22:11] you just made so there you go so it put it up and you can see how it's going to look it fits just fine inside of the template we can go ahead and go over to preview if we like to go ahead and make sure it looks good and so I do like that
[22:26] if there's any little changes you want to make now would be the time so for example I think the name looks a little bit too low on the page and even this I might go ahead sale and um bring it down so this is a great place to make any
[22:42] changes you want because once you've got your template that's the template you're going to stick with so let's go ahead I'm going to jump back over to canva I'm going to make a couple little changes so I'm going to take this and I decided I
[22:54] wanted to move it up on the page just a little bit more and maybe I even want to take this and move it down the page now remember if we're grouping things I just have to get the background out of the way so it doesn't get grouped and then I
[23:06] can group all of that together and now I can take this whole thing and maybe I can take this whole thing and maybe I want to move it you know a little bit lower in the page put my background back on make sure
[23:21] I'm covering the whole thing there we go oops maybe it's not here we go make sure I'm covering the whole thing there we go and now I'm going to go ahead and download it again and we'll take two so easy to go ahead and change but make
[23:35] sure you have everything the way that you want it because once you have it the that's going to be your template going forward so I'm going to jump back over to printify again and all I have to do is go back up to uploads and repeat the
[23:49] process from my device I'm going to go ahead and go with my second version open it up and so now it has put up the second version which just moved the name a little higher and this a little bit lower by the way if you go over to the
[24:03] right hand side you'll see different layers up here so this is the layer that's on Top This is the old one you don't need the old one you can go ahead and just delete that and so that's easy enough to do um and so it looks pretty
[24:16] good and so now what I can do let me shrink that back down would be to go shrink that back down would be to go ahead and go back up and look at my my mockups here so I can hit preview and that looks a
[24:31] higher I think that looks a lot better and so that is now the front of the and so that is now the front of the journal if you flip it over we can see this is now going to be the back so very simple elegant style you can see how you
[24:45] get sort of that light marbling effect but all in all it is nice one nice color if I do the full view here you can see the front and the back there and so as long as your happy with that we're going to go ahead now and
[25:00] we're going to publish it to our shop so I am going to go over here to save product and here's where you're going to pick your your mockups so the selected mock-ups right now it's only showing the front so to get the rest of the mockups
[25:14] we're just going to sort through so let's say hit the back here's the back I want that I'm going to click it and it's going to go into there opened I would ahead and click that I actually kind of like all of them because I think they
[25:27] all add something so Inside Yes people want to know what the inside is going to [Music] cover here we go so the whole thing together context if you want the context one sure why not we'll just add them all
[25:42] so once I've clicked through and added all of them keep getting popups I'm going to go ahead and say save selection and now we are going to go ahead and work on publishing so we can pick whichever one we want to be our
[25:55] primary image up here by just kind of clicking on it so let's say we wanted that one or we wanted that one doesn't really matter cuz I'm going to create my really matter cuz I'm going to create my own mockup as my main thumbnail and I'm
[26:07] so just pick whichever one you'd like to start with and we'll go ahead and scroll start with and we'll go ahead and scroll down now we've got our title right here and so you can do anything that you want for the title um there's lots of
[26:22] different you know SEO hacks that you can kind of look up but for this I went pretty simple because this is for or physical therapist so I think I started with like Physical Therapy gift or physical therapist
[26:35] physical therapist gift right uh doctor oops of gift right uh doctor oops of physical therapy graduation
[26:50] um custom custom physical therapist and I can put hard covered Journal right something like that I can
[27:03] do gift for physical therapist so any of those are going to be kind of good ones and so once I've got my title I come down here it's a little bit too long let's go with oh four characters too long bummer how
[27:19] about gift for PT boom now I can come down here you can edit your description here or you can add to it you can also do this in Etsy so you don't have to do it here but if you do it here it makes it a little bit
[27:35] several versions of this because then I can just go ahead and kind of duplicate and it'll save everything so here I could put let's say uh this lovely could put let's say uh this lovely Journal hard cover let's say hard
[27:53] covered hard cover Journal makes for a wonderful
[28:10] therapist great let's say thank you oops great thank you or graduation
[28:24] doctor or a doctor of physical therapy
[28:36] top and the reason is when we go ahead and we look at our Etsy listing it's not unless you click the only thing that's really going to be up top is that Top going to want to kind of make a little bit custom you know be specific to what
[28:54] it's for so a gift for a physical therapist a thank you gift a graduate ation gift so I'm going to put those in my description up top just a really sure because that Top Line is going to be the one that shows I can go ahead
[29:08] description is you know if there's something you want to get rid of you can but otherwise looks good I like to put a little space here so I'm going to do little space here so I'm going to do that if you plan to sell it um in the UK
[29:23] or anywhere in the EU you are going to have to now include have to now include um gpsr uh descriptions so you can just go ahead and add the description and it will add it right there now I'm G again
[29:38] space that down and I also by the way like to add another description here and so I'm going to put something like so I went ahead and added in a little blurb here towards the bottom it says this
[29:53] soon as you place an order which is why it takes us a bit longer to deliver it to you making products on demand instead of in bulk helps reduce overproduction so thank you for making thoughtful purchasing decisions and then down here
[30:08] I put message me for custom designs or custom gifts at therapy design uh Kelly at therapy designs and so that's just a little blurb there and then I've got the you know gpsr information down at the very bottom and so that's the whole
[30:22] description there I can then go ahead here and put the tags now again all of these things I could add in the Etsy listing itself so I don't have to do this on printify but I can um and so you know however you
[30:36] like if you wanted to skip it you can add it in on your Etsy listing or you add it in on your Etsy listing or you can do it here so for tags again I did Physical Therapy physical
[30:54] gift um let's say thank you um let's say thank you gift gift for I'm put DPT PT doctor of for physical therapy I can
[31:10] put um DPT student for her let's go with 2025 maybe custom or
[31:28] that's all of them you're only allowed 13 so there we go I put in some tags personalization okay this is a new setting on printify you used to have to do this on Etsy but now you can do it here and this is even better because
[31:41] printify doesn't put the order through until you manually approve it which gives you you know the opportunity to then go ahead and you know change the custom order and then approve it
[31:53] manually and so that's a little bit easier to do so I enable personalization and I can go ahead and change this a little bit so it says Please add only the text you want put it on your product reach out to us for any additional
[32:07] reach out to us for any additional requests um I could put please add let's requests um I could put please add let's see please add the name you want printed on your on your Journal be specific and then I can put
[32:27] name Katie Richards I just made that name up and then reach out to us directly with any additional requests and so that is the just the you know instructions
[32:40] just the you know instructions there keep coming down you can um choose the different shipping method I'm going to go with just the standard 599 you do want to make sure that the
[32:52] shipping stays under $5.99 or sorry under $6 really um because Etsy is now prioritizing um products that have a shipping cost of less than $6 if you
[33:05] of more than $6 I would change the shipping cost for the customer down to $5.99 and just take the extra and add it to the price of the product so that shipping always remains under $6 or you can offer free shipping
[33:20] sure no matter what product you're selling shipping stays under $6 and then price if you want and so that's the easy way to do that but that is under $6 so that's okay automatically assign a new shipping profile that is
[33:36] okay um if I wanted to you know put free shipping here on the pricing I could so printify has added a lot of different um things to make it easier for Etsy but that's
[33:49] fine yeah see here it starts starting October 1st so that's already gone listings with domestic shipping under $6 will receive priority and search results so keep that in mind and so here we're going to um come up with what our price
[34:04] should be now there's a lot of things to think about when we're thinking about prices but for example you've got your production cost you know it's going to cost you $930 you know Etsy fees here is going to
[34:19] be at least $228 now there can be additional fees if it comes from offsite ads or you've got marketing on it so you have to consider that two assume that the buyer is going to pay for the shipping so I'm going to
[34:33] make them pay for the shipping so I know that this is going to cost that this is going to cost me oh boy let me do the math in my head it's gonna cost me about $11.60 right say I wanted to make $3 off
[34:48] $11.60 right say I wanted to make $3 off of the journal at about $12 plus $3 would be about 15 14.99 seems like a good price right it's not a high-profit good price right it's not a high-profit margin but it's very competitive so
[35:02] let's say I'm G to go with I'm G to sell it for $4.99 I want to run an ad because you'll get more sales um or sorry sale you'll get more sales if it's on sale and whenever you put something on sale what
[35:16] you're gonna do is pretty much artificially mark up the price and then put it on sale so that the price is what you intended to sell it for so for you intended to sell it for so for example if I intend to sell it for .99
[35:29] example if I intend to sell it for .99 and I want to run a sale where it's 30% and I want to run a sale where it's 30% off I'm going to have to take that 14.99 divide it by 7 to get the price that I'm going to have listed as the price so for
[35:43] that I did the math and it is going to be $214 so if I went ahead and said my retail price here is going to be retail price here is going to be $21 41 and then I'm going to put it on
[35:57] sale for 30% off the cost of the customer is then going to be $4.99 they are going to pay for the shipping and then I'm going to get $3 shipping and then I'm going to get $3 profit um so there's lots to think about
[36:10] when you're picking prices so whatever strategy you want to go with there but your retail price here um and they have stuff here about different pricing things come on down here product
[36:25] storage don't know why you would want to do that I do want people to be able to do that I do want people to be able to see it I do want to show see it I do want to show variants um that are in stock now here
[36:37] it'll say best for SEO optimization would be to put sold out as the variant now I've only got one version of this but for other products like the candles where you've got multiple cents I would want to do the one that says sold out so
[36:50] it'll just say sold out but you'll know that they offer them versus it totally being hidden and nobody knows that it was ever an option was ever an option um and so I'll select that one sync
[37:02] product details so it will sync everything um you can unclick like the mock-ups or the tags but I'm going to just go ahead and sync everything and I'm going to hit publish now right now it is publishing so it'll say publishing
[37:17] to Etsy and you can see right here it says personalizable and so what that means is that when order comes through it'll say personalizable under the order and you will go ahead and click on that order and edit it and we change out the
[37:33] um we'll change out the print file okay before we finish the order but we'll give this a second here while this is busy uploading it to my Etsy shop I can go ahead and work on the um custom thumbnail that I want to include so to
[37:49] do that all I'm going to have to do is I can click here and it's going to pull up those images for me and what I'm going to do is I'm going to select this this top one here I'm going to rightclick and I'm going to save this image and so I'm
[38:04] going to save it I'm just going to put Journal mock I can do while I'm waiting is go ahead and go back over to
[38:17] canva and I'm going to go to Canvas home so I'm going to leave this alone here and I'm just going to go to the homepage and we are going to create our own mockup so I can custom size and I'm just going to make a simple
[38:31] Square mockup here and so I like them to be as big as possible so we'll just go be as big as possible so we'll just go with 4,000 by 4,000 pixels create a new design and here is where I'm going to create my mockup so I'm going to go over
[38:45] to uploads and I'm going to upload um the mockup that I just downloaded off of printful or printify sorry okay so here it it is so here is my blank Journal I'm going
[38:58] to put a background for it um what you can't tell right now is it is on a white background remover so for example if I just change this background color really quickly now you can see it's on a white background so I can easily go ahead hit
[39:12] background remover so that I can end up with just that journal and so there we with just that journal and so there we go I've just got the journal now perfect and now we are going to find a background that we can put it on um and
[39:24] can have it looking like it's laying on a t table you can you know do any kind of background mockup sometimes I get ideas by going to elements and seeing if they already have mockups for the particular product so if I wanted like a
[39:39] notebook mockup I can look to see if they already have some in photos and so some of these are giving me more like the laptop look but like here I could use that for a mockup and
[39:52] put the journal right where that tablet is for example and so those are things um here's another one I could put it right here and use just that simple different ideas that I could
[40:07] do so if there's one that I particularly like I can put it right on top and so one I like there's lots of them here so pretty pretty find a good one find one
[40:19] that sort of says Etsy you know again here's another like kind of floral looking pretty one so I decided I liked this mockup here I liked the composition I liked the colors and so this is the one that I
[40:33] decided to go with so I put it in the you know in my frame the way I want it and now I'm just going to go ahead and send it to the back and bring my journal forward so now I've got mine and quite literally all I'm going to do is cover
[40:47] literally all I'm going to do is cover up the existing journal with my journal as best as possible and that may require playing with the angle and the size a little bit and so that looks pretty good I think I'm covering up everything it
[41:02] looks nice there if I want it to have a little bit of a shadow under it too like on that side I could go to edit here and I could go ahead go to Shadows I can throw a tiny drop shadow on it so what I would do would be to blur it quite a bit
[41:18] probably bring that distance down maybe the intensity down a little bit so I've got just a little bit of a shadow here when you do that you're going to have to resize this a little bit but that's okay and so now it just
[41:34] threw a little bit of a drop shadow around it just to make it look a little bit more like it is actually sitting there and so that is going to be my mockup that I've made now so I'm just going to call this let's put
[41:47] Etsy Journal mockup okay and then I'm going to go ahead and download this and so it's a PNG I don't have to do anything else I'm just going to hit download now by now everything should be uploaded onto my
[42:03] Etsy shop from from printify so we'll go ahead there next and we'll take a look at the listing so when you go over um you're going to find your listings here and under your listings it should pop up as the newest listing and so you're
[42:17] going to go ahead and click on that and this is going to pull up the listing that you just made and so here is where if you wanted to you could edit anything that you already put in so your title if you wanted to edit your title now you
[42:30] know you could hopefully you got it the way you wanted it here are our upload the thumbnail that I just made so I'm going to go ahead and click on one of the empty buttons it'll pull up my downloads and I'm now going to
[42:44] upload my custom thumbnail now when it comes to thumbnails you want your best thumbnail to be your you know your main thumbnail because it's the one that people are going to see and then click on on on the link to to to view your
[42:59] I'm going to put that in the number one spot that's going to make it my primary of the other ones because I do want to make sure that people can see the front the back the inside all of that um but this is the same as this thumbnail here
[43:15] so you can see here it was just against a white background now we made it a more that I don't need that anyways um here it is plain here's the back inside you know you can do these in any order
[43:29] that you like um here's another lifestyle one I like to put branding information in my listings so if you have a logo for your shop you can add that logo into one of these spots if you have it so I'm going to go ahead and add
[43:44] have it so I'm going to go ahead and add in my um my logo here so there is my logo and so we can go down here's our thumbnail if you needed to adjust it you that that looks I've got my description here where I
[43:59] already put my custom first line and I've got all the information here it already includes the personalization um but if you hadn't done it in printify this is where you would go ahead and click
[44:12] would go ahead and click personalization here's my price my 2141 there um come down category it's journals and notebooks this does this automatically but that's where you would go ahead and search for it occasion you
[44:26] can pick a so for example if I wanted this to be more of a graduation gift I could put graduation there here is where I could change any of my tags if I wanted to um some of these things are optional
[44:39] like materials you know I don't include a lot of these a lot of these are going a lot of these a lot of these are going to be included you know up here um in your description a lot of these will be included here so like for the shirts and
[44:51] the description um so then we come down I've got my standard um print profile that's automatically put on there for me so I don't have to do anything to change
[45:07] don't have to do anything to change that um your return policy I have no returns because these are print on demand you know things so I don't allow returns shop section if you've got sections so for me I would put it in my
[45:21] medical profession section and then you can pick whether or not it's manually or listing the way you want it you'll go ahead and just hit publish changes and then it will be up there now once you have it the way that you want it we're
[45:36] remember I marked up the price pretty high with the you know intention of putting it on sale so to do that I would then go over to the side where you're then go over to the side where you're going to he uh see marketing so you're
[45:51] going to hit the marketing tab go up to sales and discounts if you don't already have a sale go you would hit run a sale so let's just for this percentage off I wanted to do it 30% off where is it valid is it
[46:07] everywhere or just the United States I usually just do the United States just in case I end up paying for shipping overseas which can be very full price so it's just one way to offset what could end up being you know
[46:23] a lot of shipping let's say they bought two things or um or taxes or whatever reason I just I usually just do the sales in the United States sale duration so today is the 12th let's say I wanted to make this
[46:37] 12th let's say I wanted to make this sale last for like through the weekend right so let's say through the 16th right um if there's any terms you can write it in here you're going to have to put sale name I usually just go with the
[46:49] month and the percent off that I'm doing but this is an example so I'm just going to go ahead and put Journal 30 and that's my sale name that's just for worry about what your sale name is and
[47:04] where you can pick what you want to put on sale so I'm going to go with the select listings um and I'm just going to search for my DPT Journal let's see if I have it come up here so the one that we just
[47:20] made right here so you would go ahead then and select the journal it's going to add it to the listing and then you can go ahead and put review and confirm it'll give you the dates the discount all of that if it's good then you hit
[47:34] all of that if it's good then you hit confirm and create and done and so now your listing would be on sale and it would show it as 30% off so now if I was I showed you at the beginning of the video
[47:48] oops that's this one right here which is what we just kind of recreated it shows what we just kind of recreated it shows it at it was originally 2141 it's 3 % off so it's showing it for $4.99 I've got my thumbnail so I've got
[48:02] my custom thumbnail that I made all of the other thumbnails including my shop logo down here and people would go ahead and flip through it this way so that everything and so that's how they're going to go through it offers the
[48:16] personalization so that they can go ahead and pick whatever name they want ahead and pick whatever name they want down here um you could also if you were doing personalization again could offer different colors and so you could allow
[48:29] them to select colors lots of different ways that you can go about making personalized stuff they can add it to the cart there um when we start to scroll down on your listings you'll have you know all of your reviews there and
[48:42] going to get the description and everything for that product now right now I have it pulled open if I was to close it okay here's where it's going to say so when they first pull up the listing the description is way down here
[48:56] and are only going to show the first couple lines so right here the only thing you're going to see of the description unless they click that button is going to be the great for you know this one says great for newer
[49:08] Physical Therapy student perfect thank you a graduation gift and so it's just that first line that they're going to see and then if they go ahead and click the full description and everything else that you put on there and down here
[49:24] it'll tell you you know order today get it by when ever returns and exchanges it by when ever returns and exchanges not accepted cost to ship $5.99 and you know other products from your shop and then Shop reviews with
[49:38] photos there and so that is what your listing will look like if you've got a social media page you're going to go ahead and copy the link for this and go ahead then and share it on your social media too and so that is how I create a
[49:53] media too and so that is how I create a personalized listing for Etsy so that was pretty thorough now I know people are going to ask well what happens when are going to ask well what happens when the sale comes in and you get you know
[50:05] whatever the personalized order is well they will send you an email saying that they will send you an email saying that you got a sale and it'll include the personalized you know description that people want so let's say somebody
[50:17] people want so let's say somebody ordered it and they wanted it to say Dr Amy Wilson okay so what we're going to do then is we would have to go back back to canva um let's go home here and you
[50:30] would go back to your original template so I'm going to open up my original template now I'm not going to change the original I'm just going to duplicate it so I would come down here hit duplicate and now I'm going to change this to
[50:44] say they put Dr Amy Wilson okay and depending on the person's name you might have to resize it to make it bigger or smaller okay so now now I would put let's say I put Amy
[50:59] now now I would put let's say I put Amy Wilson right there Journal I would now go ahead and download this so my new version so hit download I only want page two perfect and it should really be super fast and
[51:14] easy I mean it should just take you a second and then you can go ahead and jump over to printify now I don't actually have an you guys so you would have to go over to
[51:26] your Ord page and you would find the order for that and it would say personalizable so it wouldn't go through yet you'd have to approve it okay so for example here are some of my orders um here's my order and it says
[51:38] personalizable right there so if I was to click it it won't go through essentially it won't show you the order until you click on it and edit it and when you click on it you know there'll be a place to you know edit the order
[51:55] change out the print file and so really the way that that would look let me go back to my products would be if I wanted to take this product and edit it now I could just go to edit
[52:08] design it's going to show you this and then all you're going to do is change the design out so just the way we did when we redid it we'll go to uploads my device I'm going to find the new one that I just made for Amy Wilson boom
[52:21] it's going to put that on Dr Amy Wilson and then I can finalize the order um and so it's really fast and easy you just have to do it a few times I just don't have an you know I don't want to share anybody's
[52:35] personal information or addresses or particular specific orders right now so this is as close as I can get to showing you the process but it really is pretty easy and intuitive once you start getting orders you will not be instantly
[52:49] inundated with orders by the way I know people are freaking out about how can I do this do I need like software that's going to do this automa ially for me really it only takes a second to do you unless unless you suddenly blow up and
[53:02] are getting 10,000 orders a day which probably won't happen right away you can do this manually really fast and easy so it's that simple um if you have any
