[0:57] works exactly the same in the app the
[0:59] first tip tip is to use pinned buttons
[1:02] now Elgato added a feature somewhat
[1:05] recently that allows you to pin your
[1:07] most used buttons so that they're always
[1:09] available on your stream day so even
[1:12] when you navigate through folders or
[1:14] swipe through pages those buttons will
[1:17] always be there you just right click on
[1:19] any of your buttons and pin it and it's
[1:21] going to turn gray so you know that's
[1:22] been pinned I like using this for things
[1:25] like my view count stats my most used
[1:27] OBS scenes or like my mic mute button
[1:30] and as you can see when I navigate
[1:32] through folders those buttons are always
[1:34] on the stream deck you can still
[1:36] override your pinned button so if there
[1:38] are certain pages where you want to use
[1:40] a different function where that pin
[1:42] button is you can still use it but if
[1:44] you delete that button it's going to
[1:46] revert back to whatever you had pinned
[1:49] in that slot number two is to use hot
[1:51] keys this sounds pretty obvious but if
[1:55] there's anything that you want your
[1:56] stream deck to do that it doesn't have
[1:58] native actions for you can just drag
[2:01] over a hot key button and then that
[2:03] button will simulate any key combination
[2:05] that you enter you can give it a label
[2:07] or even make your own custom icons so
[2:09] you don't have to remember what that key
[2:11] combination does you just look down and
[2:13] then you just read it and it just tells
[2:14] you I know some of you are like wow
[2:16] nutty that's great I I I figured I could
[2:18] have figured that out on my own but I
[2:20] have Microsoft power toys on my
[2:23] computers and power toys has a lot of
[2:25] hot keys for doing really useful things
[2:28] for example if you press Windows shift C
[2:31] it pulls up this really useful Color
[2:34] Picker or if you press Windows shift uh
[2:38] Tilla the little Dash thing uh it pulls
[2:41] up fancy zones which is like a super
[2:44] Advanced Windows snapping feature this
[2:46] is amazing I love this but did you know
[2:49] that Windows also has a built-in emoji
[2:52] keyboard so if you press Windows period
[2:56] you can search for whatever Emoji you
[2:58] want you can also navigate through
[3:00] virtual desktops by pressing Control
[3:02] Plus Windows left and right or if you
[3:05] use like a video editor there's like a
[3:07] million different hot keys to remember
[3:09] if you use like d Venture resolve like
[3:11] how the hell am I supposed to remember
[3:12] all these keys I don't I have a folder
[3:15] full of hot keys and I don't even know
[3:17] what these key combinations are but they
[3:19] have labels on them so I know exactly
[3:21] what these buttons do if you have a
[3:22] stream deck plus you can even use the
[3:24] knobs to do anything you want this works
[3:27] really well for video editing you can
[3:29] set up the dials so that when you turn
[3:31] left on a dial it presses left right it
[3:34] presses right and then when you click
[3:36] into the dial it presses control
[3:38] backlash so that way you can scrub
[3:41] through your timeline in Daven Kai
[3:43] resolve just by turning the dials or you
[3:46] can make Quick Cuts by clicking into it
[3:50] number three is quick folders I'm going
[3:53] to take full credit for this feature
[3:55] because I had a meeting with Elgato like
[3:57] two years ago and I suggested this idea
[3:59] to one of the technical managers alato
[4:01] back me up this story definitely
[4:02] happened okay I'm 100% that it happened
[4:05] I call it quick folders but I believe
[4:07] the actual feature is called folder Auto
[4:10] exit basically if you're in a folder
[4:12] there's a little radio button that says
[4:15] Auto exit and if you turn this on it
[4:18] automatically backs you out of that
[4:20] folder as soon as you tap on one of the
[4:23] buttons within that folder it doesn't
[4:25] sound like a big deal but I find this
[4:27] really useful because I have a lot of
[4:29] OBS scenes and rather than making 20
[4:32] different buttons on the top layer of my
[4:34] stream deck I can shove all of my OBS
[4:37] scene buttons into a single folder so
[4:40] that way if I want to switch scenes it
[4:42] only requires two button presses to
[4:45] change scenes as opposed to three it
[4:48] sounds like a really minor thing I get
[4:49] it but you guys know how it is when
[4:51] you're a streamer you have to be the
[4:53] onscreen Talent the producer the
[4:55] lighting guy the audio guy all at the
[4:58] same time and these little shortcuts and
[5:00] little ways to save brain energy just
[5:03] make a big difference and allow you to
[5:04] focus more on entertaining your audience
[5:07] rather than worrying about how your
[5:08] stream is
[5:10] produced hey so I need this video to be
[5:12] 7 Seconds longer so I can put Min roll
[5:14] ads in it um so I wanted to wish you a
[5:17] very happy
[5:19] birthday there's like a 1 in 365 chance
[5:23] that I nailed it okay back to the video
[5:25] number four is global Styles now you
[5:28] probably already know this but every
[5:30] button on your stream deck can have
[5:31] their own labels with different fonts
[5:34] sizes alignments and the thing is if you
[5:37] want to change all the fonts on all of
[5:40] your buttons all at once you used to
[5:43] have to do that one by one and if you
[5:45] have like 60 different buttons that's
[5:46] super annoying but thankfully a little
[5:49] bit ago they added a new setting that's
[5:51] basically like a global style setting so
[5:54] you can set up the default font and text
[5:56] alignment for all of your buttons and
[5:58] then apply that that style to all of
[6:01] your existing buttons from one menu
[6:04] super handy but I do wish that Elgato
[6:06] would expand the font options because
[6:09] it's pretty limited my favorite font is
[6:11] the trebuchet Ms font but if you can
[6:14] copy my settings here I I think this
[6:15] looks pretty good all right last one is
[6:17] a little bit of a silly one but I'm
[6:19] going to call it secure buttons now
[6:22] we've all accidentally hit the start
[6:24] streaming button on our stream deck
[6:26] super awkward when you're like recording
[6:28] a YouTube video and then you mess up
[6:29] like 20 times in a row only to realize
[6:32] that you are actually streaming the
[6:34] whole time we've all been there right
[6:35] some buttons like the OBS record button
[6:38] or the stream button have a long press
[6:41] option so if you turn on this checkbox
[6:45] these buttons will only ever activate if
[6:48] you long press the button if you short
[6:50] press it nothing happens you'll see a
[6:52] little triangle saying it didn't work
[6:54] but yeah this is a really simple idea
[6:56] that I'm glad that Elgato implemented
[6:58] but what if that's not secure enough for
[6:59] you what if you still find yourself
[7:01] accidentally hitting the stream button
[7:04] well for mine I actually made a folder
[7:06] put this stream button inside that
[7:09] folder with a gigantic message saying do
[7:12] you want to stream and then when you
[7:13] click yes that's not the stream button
[7:16] because it's actually another folder and
[7:18] then inside that folder it says are you
[7:20] sure about that and then you press Yes
[7:21] again it goes into another folder and
[7:23] only then will you actually find the
[7:25] real stream button okay maybe that was
[7:27] Overkill but imagine there's like a
[7:29] stream deck plugin where it like made
[7:31] you solve like a capture to start the
[7:33] Stream So you're like you like clicking
[7:34] the button it's like oh find the fire
[7:36] hydrants or something that would be
[7:38] hilarious someone make that that would
[7:39] be awesome anyway just some simple ideas

[7:42] the stream deck if you guys want to see
