[00:52] than I thought was possible, you know, [music] making six figures in a month via my trading. And none of those numbers hit me the way it does right now. I think it's because this is one of the few moments where

[01:48] to Dawn M episode that we did in China, you [music] would have seen where my mom grew up. >> They're like five siblings crammed in one room. Yeah.
[02:12] like the floor. There's like seven siblings together. siblings together. Crazy.
[02:25] like this, you realize how far-fetched this moment is compared to where she this moment is compared to where she started.
[02:40] I was young, my mom used to cut my own hair instead of going to a barber, once again just to save a few bucks. And there was this one time where my grandma would scold my mother because she went downstairs to get a packet of
[02:53] chicken rice for like $4. And then after that, she would come back home and she that, she would come back home and she would cry silently in her own room. that really make me feel like
[03:06] I got to do something about it, right? And moments like this just stay with me throughout my entire life. I grew up watching my parents do everything they can just to keep us afloat. You know, my dad would work odd jobs to put food on
[03:18] the table. My mom would also try to work whatever job she can find just so that she can feed her two kids. And back when I was in high school, we were actually on government benefits.
[03:32] called the financial assistance scheme where the government paid for our textbooks, our uniforms, our school materials and shoes. >> And I remember very vividly there was this one day where my friends found out
[03:46] about it and [music] they ridiculed me for it, right? They laughed at me for >> [snorts] >> I felt super duper embarrassed, and then mom, "Mom, can we just stop using these
[03:59] government benefits? Can we just get rid of this financial assistance scheme because it's so embarrassing to know that you're like a poor kid in class?" And she told me, "No, son. We have no choice. You have to
[04:13] go through this so that you can eventually study hard, make it to and then make us proud." So, those were the exact words that she told me. And that is where a big part of my hunger and drive comes from, wanting
[04:28] >> and just give her a life that we never had growing up. I guess that was me working out of desperation. And then nowadays, I'm working out of inspiration so that I can fulfill the promise that I made to my mom back then, which is also
[04:43] that when I do get rich, I want to help others get out of poverty. And that is why I make all of these free trading content because I know what it feels like to be poor. I know what it feels like [music] to be insecure. I know what
[04:56] it feels to live a life of scarcity. And I just wanted to help others get out of that stage because I was in the exact position.
[05:12] really two things that I wanted to accomplish when I do become successful at trading. The first one was to retire my father. The second one was to buy my And the first one, you guys have watched me accomplish that, right? For the past
[05:27] 2 years or so since I made my first million dollars, I've just been giving month, [music] just allowing him to fully retire and just do whatever the hell he want, whenever he want, travel to wherever he

[05:52] this to Korea where he can see all the beautiful mountains, the ocean, [music] the waterfalls, you know, the beautiful sea view. But yeah, so yeah, he's he's good, man. He's really satisfied, happy, fulfilled. I've actually never seen him
[06:06] this happy before. Like he's getting older but his gray hair is like kind of not growing because of the fact that he's [music] just so happy with his life. And the second one was always this, right? Is to give my mom
[06:20] her dream car because she actually got her driving license about 10 years ago. But because we couldn't afford a car, she never got a chance to actually use [music] the license. Uh so yeah, owning a car just felt
[06:33] completely out of reach for us growing up. But now she got a chance to utilize the license again. That's why this was never really about like buying her a Mercedes. It was more about like keeping a promise that I made to myself all of
[06:46] a promise that I made to myself all of these years.

[10:29] Cuz she forgot to turn left. Yeah, but like, you know, this is uh her training like, you know, this is uh her training grounds. gas in Singapore? >> Yeah, man. My first time pumping gas,

[11:50] I think it's because for the first time this wasn't a win for me. It wasn't enjoy. But rather it's actually something for my loved ones to enjoy. You know, it's a form of like giving back to my mom and
[12:05] even like just a good way to give an opportunity to send my sister to school and just send my father to like wherever he wanted to go. And I think like just worth it. Like I said, all the blown accounts, all the funded funding
[12:19] challenges, all the times where I doubted myself. And all the times where I was just like pushing on even though there's no light at the end of the tunnel. But yeah, seeing her
[12:32] just made me feel like that it was all worth it, man. And I think this is one of those few times where success actually feels meaningful because it's tangible. You can see it, you can feel the love that comes from, you know, the
[12:46] the love that comes from, you know, the gift to the loved ones and like describe this feeling, but I hope that you guys watching this actually get the chance to experience something like this as well. You know, like just a
[12:59] a smile on your loved one's face. treating them to like a nice meal at Like just doing something for the loved one.
[13:13] Because as Nietzsche once said, "He who has a why can bear almost any how." So, if you have a strong why there is no way you cannot endure any suffering or trials or tribulations that life or the market throws at you. So,
[13:29] that strong compelling why that gets you off the bed. And to me, this was that off the bed. And to me, this was that why for for the longest [music] time.
[13:43] [music] is not just about making a lot of money, buying flashy [ __ ] just so that you can enjoy yourself. I believe that real success is [music] the ability to look after the people that you love and give them a life that
[13:59] is worth remembering. Give them the experiences that they will remember about you on that they will remember about you on your deathbed. Give them love and a life
[14:11] >> [music] >> I think that's what real success is. And I just believe that no one is really self-made. No one gets to the top alone. Behind every win, behind every success, behind every profit, there are family
[14:27] members praying for [music] you, cheering you on. There are friends supporting you, pushing you up. There is God or the universe conspiring behind your back to make you a success. So, yeah. I don't think that I got to
[14:43] where I am today just purely based on hard work and consistency. thank the universe, thank God, thank my family, thank my loving friends for And that is why when you get rich, you have to share it with them
