# Focus on What Actually Moves the Needle

> Source: [Focus on What Actually Moves the Needle](https://youtube.com/watch?v=iKcGpQKgSxQ)

## Summary

The video emphasizes that content creators should focus only on elements that directly affect what viewers see, hear, or purchase from their videos, such as scripts, products, and on-camera presence. All other concerns—like posting times, hashtags, and algorithm changes—are distractions that waste time.

### Key Points

- **The Core Question** [00:01] — Ask yourself: does this directly affect what the viewer sees, hears, or purchases? If not, it's a waste of time.
- **What Doesn't Matter** [00:15] — Posting times, hashtags, algorithm changes, and platform campaigns have no direct impact on the viewer's experience.
- **What Matters** [00:39] — Script, product choice, brand partnership, on-camera presence, and tonality are the only things that move the needle.
- **Real-World Proof** [00:51] — The speaker's wife ignored all noise, focused on making good videos, and earned $2,000 in commission her first month on TikTok Shop.

### Conclusion

Focusing exclusively on what viewers directly experience eliminates noise and drives results, as proven by the wife's TikTok Shop success.

## Transcript

you are not directly asking yourself, is the thing that I am doing right now directly affecting what the person can see, hear, or purchase from my video? And if the answer is no, you are wasting your time on that thing. Let's say for
example, that someone says, "Hey, uh you need to post at 3:00 p.m." Is that something that the person who sees your video is directly seeing? No. So, it doesn't matter. Hey, what hashtag should I use? Do they directly see that? Is
thing that they're consuming in your video? No. So, it doesn't matter. Algorithm changes, pilot programs, weird, you know, campaigns that TikTok decides to come up with, they don't matter. But, what does matter is what
the person can see, hear, or purchase from your video. Your script matters. The product you pick, the brand that you're working with, directly matters. video, the way you come off on camera, the tonality, all the things that the
matter. If you're focusing on anything else, I believe you're wasting your time. This is exactly what I did with my wife like a year ago when we got her on TikTok Shop. She didn't know what GMV even was. She didn't even know what that
made good videos, and she made $2,000 in commission her first month doing this. I genuinely believe if you focus on just those things, you can negate all the those things, you can negate all the other noise.
