[00:16] this video as we talk about episode 2. Coming&nbsp; back after the major cliffhanger of last week,&nbsp;&nbsp; this entry takes us back to 2016. In it, we see as&nbsp; Hal and Jon continue to investigate the seemingly&nbsp;&nbsp; alien invasion of Rushville. However, as the&nbsp; mystery continues to unfold, both Jon and Hal&nbsp;&nbsp;
[00:31] are confronted with the realization that they&nbsp; could be at the center of a massive conspiracy&nbsp;&nbsp; centering around Hal's predecessor. Just like with&nbsp; episode 1, episode 2 is loaded with Easter eggs&nbsp;&nbsp; and references to the comics. And throughout&nbsp; this video, we'll be breaking it all down&nbsp;&nbsp;

[00:58] let's get into lentance. Sinestra Hal. Now,&nbsp; we start this episode in the year of our Lord&nbsp;&nbsp; 2016. Jon is taking a muchneeded nap after the&nbsp; events of episode 1 until Hal comes in and gives&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:12] him a little wakeup call by dumping a bucket&nbsp; of water on his head. And right from the off,&nbsp;&nbsp; the guy is just a [&nbsp;__&nbsp;] I thought Guy Gardner&nbsp; was bad, but dear me. As a man who's been woken up&nbsp;&nbsp; by a bucket of water before, this also killed me.&nbsp; But Hal is ready to get today's training started,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:27] which will probably also be terrible for Jon.&nbsp; Jon also asks Hal what the Guardian said about&nbsp;&nbsp; everything that's going on in Rushville, but he&nbsp; says he didn't even bother telling them. This&nbsp;&nbsp; shows once again how Hal is sort of this renegade&nbsp; cop while Jon wants to follow the proper chain of&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:42] the football field by wanting to tell Sheriff&nbsp; Kelly about the alien that was still there,&nbsp;&nbsp; which we saw didn't work out too well. So maybe&nbsp; Hal has a bigger reason than just being a shitty&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:55] lantern for not wanting to call the Guardians just&nbsp; yet. If you saw our last video as well, then you&nbsp;&nbsp; will have seen that we did a theory about Jon's&nbsp; dad, John Stewart, Senior. We did think he might&nbsp;&nbsp; be connected to the lanterns and may have been&nbsp; the original one that was supposed to get Hal's&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:09] place. Huge shout outs to Cull's door 9785 on our&nbsp; last video as well, who pointed out that Hal keeps&nbsp;&nbsp; calling John Jr., which I think highlights that&nbsp; Hal did indeed know his dad. As I've talked about&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:21] in the last couple of videos, I've been playing&nbsp; Marvel Strike Force and I've been having a lot of&nbsp;&nbsp; fun building up my roster and checking out the new&nbsp; content. So, I wanted to give you guys an update&nbsp;&nbsp; of where I'm at. Since my last video, I've been&nbsp; making some serious progress. I've been putting&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:34] the new amazing Avengers through their paces, and&nbsp; Blade has been a great addition to my team. It's&nbsp;&nbsp; been really fun actually getting to play around&nbsp; with the team rather than just talking about them&nbsp;&nbsp; in a breakdown. We're also now in the final part&nbsp; of the Spider-Man Webs Assemble event, which runs&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:48] until August 27th. If you've been following along,&nbsp; you'll already know about the Spider-Man Tower&nbsp;&nbsp; and the new content that's been added through the&nbsp; event. I'll see you in the game. How then takes&nbsp;&nbsp; Jon outside to finally give him his first flying&nbsp; lesson, which is basically just him giving him&nbsp;&nbsp;
[03:57] the ring and telling him to fly. Great training.&nbsp; Jon is reluctant though and kind of just wants to&nbsp;&nbsp; focus on the mission because that's the priority.&nbsp; Also love how Jon puts a ring on his middle finger&nbsp;&nbsp; and shows it to Hal as a way of flipping him off.&nbsp; And Hal kind of steps back for a second like,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:12] "Wait, what? Did you just do what I think you&nbsp; did?" Hal then proves once again how great&nbsp;&nbsp; of a teacher he is. And he doesn't give him any&nbsp; other advice than to just fly. He says how he was&nbsp;&nbsp; a fighter pilot, so he just thinks of flying and&nbsp; it happens automatically. So all Jon needs to do&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:27] is focus and think flight. Now that sounds easy&nbsp; enough. Uh but as we see, Jon struggles to take&nbsp;&nbsp; off. He lifts his heels off the ground and just&nbsp; ends up going nowhere. And you may have seen the&nbsp;&nbsp; fan edit that people thought was real where Jon&nbsp; farted whilst doing this. And part of me did wish&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:41] it was real. Some men just want to watch the world&nbsp; burn. And while Jon isn't able to get off the&nbsp;&nbsp; ground, we then see his intense focus on flight&nbsp; manifests itself as a bird. This kind of impresses&nbsp;&nbsp; Hal and he's clearly taken a back when the bird is&nbsp; still there after Jon takes off the ring. However,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:56] Hal will never admit that and says the bird is&nbsp; just a one-time party trick because the ring&nbsp;&nbsp; is low on power. He then slams this on the trunk&nbsp; of his car to give it a little extra juice. Uh,&nbsp;&nbsp; which is kind of like hitting a battery. And it's&nbsp; also like one of the most powerful weapons in the&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:10] universe. And we see how he treats his stuff. Now,&nbsp; we will talk more about this in just a bit. Uh,&nbsp;&nbsp; but it is very, very important, the whole&nbsp; bird thing. Um, and the reason that HAL looks&nbsp;&nbsp; so shocked here is because creating a living&nbsp; construct is not something that every Green&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:22] Lantern can just do. Now, the way it works is the&nbsp; ring can create anything the wearer can imagine,&nbsp;&nbsp; and as long as they have the will to bring it into&nbsp; existence, it will come forth. Because of this,&nbsp;&nbsp; the construct is only as powerful as the&nbsp; willpower of the lantern who created it. And it&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:36] can only exist as long as it's being fueled by the&nbsp; lantern's will, regardless of its appearance. So,&nbsp;&nbsp; for example, you know, something like a&nbsp; tank that would be more intricate in design,&nbsp;&nbsp; but creating a living construct independent of&nbsp; its creator, like a bird, that would require an&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:50] immense amount of willpower, which Jon did almost&nbsp; instinctively. This is the power that Hal's been&nbsp;&nbsp; shown to have in the comics, but it was only after&nbsp; he got a massive upgrade after creating his own&nbsp;&nbsp; ring from the willpower of an old manhunter. Hal's&nbsp; living construct also worked more as an illusion&nbsp;&nbsp;
[06:04] rather than an independent construct. And uh if&nbsp; you want to check that out, Greenland issue 3.&nbsp;&nbsp; Why I'm bringing that up though is because we&nbsp; can see that isn't the case here as the bird&nbsp;&nbsp; flies around on its own without Jon looking at&nbsp; it. I also feel like this is a good example of&nbsp;&nbsp;
[06:18] the difference between Jon and Hal. Hal says he's&nbsp; a pilot, so things like flying or evading danger&nbsp;&nbsp; comes naturally to him. Juxtaposing this, Jon is a&nbsp; soldier who's had to face his problems head-on and&nbsp;&nbsp; figure out the most practical solution to overcome&nbsp; his obstacles. Whether in the military or just&nbsp;&nbsp;
[06:33] throughout his life, Jon has never been able to&nbsp; just take off and escape quickly. He's always been&nbsp;&nbsp; a foot soldier, so it's harder for him to envision&nbsp; himself flying away from something. And instead,&nbsp;&nbsp; his thoughts of flight manifest as something&nbsp; realistic that actually does fly. But right now,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[06:47] he's still grounded. And Hal sends him off to his&nbsp; home in Coast City. This is in order to retrieve&nbsp;&nbsp; his lantern so he can recharge the ring. He then&nbsp; hands Jon a plane ticket, which he's already paid&nbsp;&nbsp; for, showing that even if Jon was able to fly,&nbsp; he would have still made him travel by plane.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[07:00] It's just another [&nbsp;__&nbsp;] errand to mess around&nbsp; with Jon while Hal screws around Nebraska. And&nbsp;&nbsp; he also says to make sure to feed Earl, who&nbsp; we'll meet in just a moment. Beyond that,&nbsp;&nbsp; he must also take the bird with him and keep it&nbsp; alive on the journey. He says that if Jon loses&nbsp;&nbsp;
[07:13] his concentration, it disappears and he fails.&nbsp; Also, there's an admitted stretch here, but we can&nbsp;&nbsp; see Hal is staying in room 16, which could be a&nbsp; nod to Green Lantern issue 16. There, Jon and Hal&nbsp;&nbsp;
[07:25] team up to fight the rogue lantern mo who's been&nbsp; corrupted by the Red Lantern's Light of Rage. Now,&nbsp;&nbsp; normally I try and avoid doing stuff like there's&nbsp; a number there, so it must be a reference to this&nbsp;&nbsp; cuz often random. But, we do get a Mogo reference&nbsp; later in the episode, and hey, we're just I want&nbsp;&nbsp;
[07:40] to cover all our bases here at Heavy Spoilers.&nbsp; We then see Hal back at the football field where&nbsp;&nbsp; he's once again just surveying the scene. He&nbsp; looks at the scoreboard, the broken fence,&nbsp;&nbsp; and the blood still left on the field, which were&nbsp; all things that Jon pointed out last week. This&nbsp;&nbsp;
[07:52] made me think that Hal is sort of going through it&nbsp; in his head and double-checking Jon's work. And he&nbsp;&nbsp; might even be thinking, "God damn, that kid is&nbsp; actually pretty good." But this scene also has a&nbsp;&nbsp; much darker undertone to it as well, given that&nbsp; we know this is the place that Hal's body will&nbsp;&nbsp;
[08:07] be found with him even sitting in the exact&nbsp; same seat on the bleaches. As Halen continues&nbsp;&nbsp; his investigation, he becomes interested in the&nbsp; metal detectors and realizes that he doesn't set&nbsp;&nbsp; it off when he walks through. How then decides&nbsp; to further this test by prying the grill of his&nbsp;&nbsp;
[08:20] car and taking it through the detector, which also&nbsp; doesn't set it off, knowing that something doesn't&nbsp;&nbsp; quite add up here. We then see Hal driving&nbsp; through the town as he tries to call Sheriff&nbsp;&nbsp; Kerry. He doesn't answer and then he notices&nbsp; Rushville is a ghost town, so he hovers up and&nbsp;&nbsp;
[08:34] spots everyone's cars at a building opposite the&nbsp; police station, which is basically where our next&nbsp;&nbsp; scene takes place. How about before he's able to&nbsp; fly on over his ring then dies. Also, I couldn't&nbsp;&nbsp; find out who voices the ring in the credits.&nbsp; Uh, but it did sort of sound like James Ortiz,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[08:47] who recently did the robotic voice for Rocky and&nbsp; Project Hail Mary, but that is just a guess. This&nbsp;&nbsp; ring will soon run out of charge. My first thought&nbsp; was that it sounds like Kit from Nightrider, but&nbsp;&nbsp; that would be insane cuz William Daniels is like&nbsp; 90. They're going to make him do this till he's&nbsp;&nbsp;
[09:02] 90. And hey, Hollywood will never let you retire.&nbsp; But Haren crashes the town's meeting where they&nbsp;&nbsp; were obviously talking about him. He also notices&nbsp; another metal detector that doesn't go off as he&nbsp;&nbsp; enters the building. And despite Sheriff Carrie&nbsp; telling Hal to politely [&nbsp;__&nbsp;] off, he decides&nbsp;&nbsp;
[09:15] to stick around and find a seat. I love how brash&nbsp; and direct that Hal is as well. And how he chooses&nbsp;&nbsp; the most awkward seat possible, even though you&nbsp; can see there's an open seat right at the front&nbsp;&nbsp; of Kerry. Billy Min then creeps in to tell Hal&nbsp; that his charges have been dropped and that he's&nbsp;&nbsp;
[09:29] free to go home, which is not so subtle. Yeah, you&nbsp; get leave, please. However, Hal is more concerned&nbsp;&nbsp; with how Billy's daddy knew who the aliens were&nbsp; on the football field and how they were able to&nbsp;&nbsp; identify and kill them. This causes Billy to&nbsp; kind of scramble until Carrie interrupts them&nbsp;&nbsp;
[09:44] for continuing to disrupt the meeting. Hal also&nbsp; shoots a shot with Carrie again right in front of&nbsp;&nbsp; Billy when she calls out honey and Hal responds,&nbsp; which I respect. Also, I love how annoyed Sheriff&nbsp;&nbsp; Kerry is by Hal with her grabbing the mic super&nbsp; close and saying the meeting will take as long&nbsp;&nbsp;
[09:58] as it takes. Now, we know from the events of&nbsp; last week that Sheriff Kerry, at least stays in&nbsp;&nbsp; touch with Jon after the events of 2016. So, I'm&nbsp; very curious to see how this dynamic between them&nbsp;&nbsp; shifts throughout the series. She may even be an&nbsp; alien disguised as a human. And I'm I'm going to&nbsp;&nbsp;
[10:14] say it. We're all thinking it. Noah is an alien&nbsp; as well. But now, I did notice how throughout&nbsp;&nbsp; the episode that they kept referring to the big&nbsp; bad as he and um little trick in screenwriting&nbsp;&nbsp; for you guys there. uh if you're doubling down&nbsp; on something to reveal a twist or something,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[10:28] normally you're like you keep saying the gender&nbsp; over and over again if the gender is different.&nbsp;&nbsp; So, the fact they kept doing that, kept saying&nbsp; he all the time, assuming the bloody gender,&nbsp;&nbsp; uh that did make me wonder if the uh the identity&nbsp; of the alien was going to be revealed to be a&nbsp;&nbsp;
[10:42] woman, and it might even be Makin's wife. But&nbsp; we have another off-the-wall theory for that&nbsp;&nbsp; instead that you you want to sit around for cuz&nbsp; it it does seem actually like it makes sense.&nbsp;&nbsp; Also want to point out that we can see the town&nbsp; meeting is being held at the Legion Post 161.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[10:56] But I want to point this out because it may be a&nbsp; subtle reference to a character called Legion from&nbsp;&nbsp; the Green Lantern comics in that the Green Lantern&nbsp; cause discovered an aggressive race of insects on&nbsp;&nbsp; the planet Chick and the Latin stopped them from&nbsp; spreading throughout the galaxy. This then forced&nbsp;&nbsp;
[11:12] them to try and merge into a hive mine using a new&nbsp; mechanical body and they named themselves Legion.&nbsp;&nbsp; Now, why I'm bringing this up is because Legion&nbsp; was actually the ones responsible for Abinser's&nbsp;&nbsp; death in Green Lantern's original origin story,&nbsp; Pre-Infinite Crisis. That happened after Legion&nbsp;&nbsp;
[11:26] swore revenge on the lanterns and it managed to&nbsp; kill the lands of space sector 2815, 2816, and&nbsp;&nbsp; 2817. They then encountered Abins, but they were&nbsp; unable to harm Legion due to its yellow coloring,&nbsp;&nbsp; which forced Abinser to escape to Earth. Here,&nbsp; the ring then chose Hal Jordan as his successor.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[11:42] However, like I said, this was recconed after&nbsp; Infinite Crisis with Abinser's death being caused&nbsp;&nbsp; by the Red Lantern atrocities, who we will also&nbsp; talk more about later, and I do think they're&nbsp;&nbsp; teasing him as well. Legion was never seen again.&nbsp; Um, and I'm not sure if that was intentional,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[11:56] but regardless, it's a nice nod to an important&nbsp; character in Hal's history. Now, as Jon arrives&nbsp;&nbsp; at Hal's place in Coast City, he calls Hal because&nbsp; he can't find the key. We then see that Hal lives&nbsp;&nbsp; in a giant mansion, which makes the fact that he&nbsp; hides his key in a fake rock that much funnier.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[12:10] Hal's joke about the rock having either a smiley&nbsp; face or a frown could also be a subtle reference&nbsp;&nbsp; to the red lantern Zillia socks and his Green&nbsp; Lantern counterpart Galia said they're basically&nbsp;&nbsp; giant heads with limbs and Zelius pretty much&nbsp; looks like a boulder with teeth. However,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[12:23] Hal admits to Jon that he got the house for free&nbsp; after saving some rich guy's kid and we can see&nbsp;&nbsp; various pictures of him with powerful people such&nbsp; as the Pope, former US President George W. Bush&nbsp;&nbsp; and the cast of Harry Potter, which is quite funny&nbsp; and explains why Hal asked the alien suspect about&nbsp;&nbsp;
[12:39] Hogwarts in the last episode. And here's the full&nbsp; picture on screen right now if you want to see it.&nbsp;&nbsp; As Jon goes through the house, you also get Hal&nbsp; going through the morg, which sort of creates a&nbsp;&nbsp; parallel between the two. We then get some penis&nbsp; h because it's HBO and legally they have to have&nbsp;&nbsp;
[12:52] nudity in every single show. And Jon also comes&nbsp; across something phallic shaped as well. But&nbsp;&nbsp; beyond that, we have him mirroring Hal's steps and&nbsp; he will literally be following in his footsteps.&nbsp;&nbsp; discover that Hal doesn't really stay here that&nbsp; often. And I feel like this is meant to parallel&nbsp;&nbsp;
[13:05] Carrie's line in the last episode about how Hal is&nbsp; very lonely and no one cares about him and nobody&nbsp;&nbsp; cares about him. He's not [&nbsp;__&nbsp;] fearless.&nbsp; He's lonely. Looks like she was pretty spot&nbsp;&nbsp;
[13:17] on as well as the only thing he really has is a&nbsp; mattress and his Harry Potter picture of course&nbsp;&nbsp; which isn't even hung up. However, we don't see&nbsp; any photos of Hal with his family or friends and&nbsp;&nbsp; instead it's simply him meeting famous people.&nbsp; In the 60-minute segment, he talked about how&nbsp;&nbsp;
[13:30] losing a parent is the worst thing that can&nbsp; ever happen to you. And I think since then,&nbsp;&nbsp; he's decided to shut himself off to avoid the&nbsp; pain. I think this line also connected with Jon&nbsp;&nbsp; as potentially he lost his mother as well. As&nbsp; Hal is dragging the alien body out of the morg,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[13:43] Jon then finds Hal's closet where he keeps a&nbsp; lantern. But first, he stops to check out Hal's&nbsp;&nbsp; Green Lantern suits. Can also see his little eye&nbsp; mask sitting on the table behind Jon. And we then&nbsp;&nbsp; get some more foreshadowing as Jon puts the suit&nbsp; up to himself in the mirror and imagines himself&nbsp;&nbsp;
[13:56] as an official Green Lantern. can see just how&nbsp; much it means to him with how he handles it so&nbsp;&nbsp; gently when taking out of the closet and almost&nbsp; looks at it in awe. Just shows how much respect he&nbsp;&nbsp; has for the job. And it's like a great parallel to&nbsp; how the young John was mesmerized by seeing Hal on&nbsp;&nbsp;
[14:12] TV. He even sneakily asks Hal if he wants to bring&nbsp; it just in case. And it's clear that he's enamored&nbsp;&nbsp; with seeing it in real life. Having a physical&nbsp; suit is also somewhat of a change from the comics&nbsp;&nbsp; is there. It's manifested by the ring and it's not&nbsp; like an actual piece of fabric which is probably&nbsp;&nbsp;
[14:26] why we see Hal has three different versions of&nbsp; the same suit cuz you know washing them h it's&nbsp;&nbsp; not going to be easy and I doubt he's doing it&nbsp; regularly. We also get a funny line from Hal&nbsp;&nbsp; about how hard it is to take a piss when you're&nbsp; wearing the suit. Teach me how someone takes a&nbsp;&nbsp;
[14:39] piss in one of those goddamn things. Which a lot&nbsp; of actors have said was the hardest thing about&nbsp;&nbsp; wearing supersuits. What's your advice to him&nbsp; slipping into that suit? Oh, same as for Ben. Just&nbsp;&nbsp; you want some clothes that look great on you that&nbsp; you can take a piss in as well, then why not check&nbsp;&nbsp;

[15:08] summer where the more you get, the more you save.&nbsp; As Halen hauls off the alien body to his car,&nbsp;&nbsp; Jon finds the box containing the lantern battery,&nbsp; which leads to a pocket dimension. In the comics,&nbsp;&nbsp; hide them anywhere. And Hal originally kept it&nbsp; in his locker at Ferris Air Force Base. However,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[15:25] the Green Lantern ring is also sort of its own&nbsp; pocket dimension within itself with Steel telling&nbsp;&nbsp; John Stewart and Green Lantern War Journal issue&nbsp; 4 that the ring is a pocket dimension governed by&nbsp;&nbsp; the mind instead of the laws of physics. Pocket&nbsp; dimensions have of course also appeared in the&nbsp;&nbsp;
[15:39] DCU before and I like that they're this constant&nbsp; thing throughout a lot of the projects. However,&nbsp;&nbsp; to access a dimension, Jon needs a passcode and&nbsp; Hal says the phrase over the phone which is Moo&nbsp;&nbsp; doesn't socialize. Again, this is a reference to&nbsp; the Green Lantern Mo who was tasked with guiding&nbsp;&nbsp;
[15:54] rings to a new sentient being when a host dies.&nbsp; Moo first appeared in the backstory for Green&nbsp;&nbsp; Lantern 188 titled Mo Doesn't Socialize by Alan&nbsp; Moore. But why doesn't he socialize, Paul? Well,&nbsp;&nbsp; thanks for asking. Uh, but the reason that he&nbsp; doesn't socialize is that he's actually a sentient&nbsp;&nbsp;
[16:10] planet and he's unable to attend Green Lantern&nbsp; meetings because his gravitational pull would rip&nbsp;&nbsp; apart everything that it got close to. The issue&nbsp; is also where Jon reveals his true identity to the&nbsp;&nbsp; public after officially becoming Green Lantern.&nbsp; So, having that be the password used for Jon,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[16:25] it feels quite fitting as Jon reaches into the&nbsp; box to find the lantern, we then see the pocket&nbsp;&nbsp; universe as a black empty void that goes on&nbsp; forever. And while Jon is able to find it&nbsp;&nbsp; pretty easily, notice how the little bird flies&nbsp; in the box when it first opens, almost as if it's&nbsp;&nbsp;
[16:39] leading the way. The lantern battery is a source&nbsp; of the lantern's powers. So, it makes sense that&nbsp;&nbsp; a construct would be instinctively drawn to the&nbsp; battery. Sort of like how canaries used to detect&nbsp;&nbsp; dangerous parts of a coal mine. However, this also&nbsp; shows how strong of a construct that the bird is,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[16:54] as it leads Jon to the battery without him even&nbsp; being aware that he's doing it. We can also see&nbsp;&nbsp; Jon showing the same level of respect and awe&nbsp; to the lantern as it's one of the most powerful&nbsp;&nbsp; objects in the universe as so he probably wants&nbsp; to handle it with care and I can imagine Hal just&nbsp;&nbsp;
[17:10] smacks it about and stuff. With the Latin secured,&nbsp; we then meet Hal's mysterious pet Earl who turns&nbsp;&nbsp; out to be an alien plant. Though it seems vicious&nbsp; at first, it's actually pretty sweet and just&nbsp;&nbsp; chows down as Jon shoots the [&nbsp;__&nbsp;] with him. Jon&nbsp; also brings up how burgers used to be his thing,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[17:24] too. Hamburgers used to be my thing, too. Now,&nbsp; this is a nice little nod to how his dad took&nbsp;&nbsp; him for a burger after almost blowing his head off&nbsp; last week. Yay, some father and son time. Also, I&nbsp;&nbsp; love how Jon is trying to connect with Earl here,&nbsp; as both of them are clearly neglected by Hal.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[17:39] Earl is also a super deep cut reference to one of&nbsp; Hal Jordan's earliest sidekicks, Iddy. This was a&nbsp;&nbsp; little starfish planned alien that Hal picked up&nbsp; in 1959's The Flash 238. Al just sort of took it&nbsp;&nbsp; everywhere with him for a while and it helped him&nbsp; out on his adventures until Eddie randomly died&nbsp;&nbsp;
[17:54] in Green Lantern 104 which rest in peace Eddie.&nbsp; We then cut back to Halen Rushville as he arrives&nbsp;&nbsp; at the football field with his car full of dead&nbsp; bodies which kind of killed me that he just kept&nbsp;&nbsp; dragging them around. He then realizes that these&nbsp; set off the metal detectors and also notices a&nbsp;&nbsp;
[18:09] little camera watching him from the corner. Now&nbsp; able to prove how Megan knew who to target at&nbsp;&nbsp; the game, Hal starts to head towards the ranch and&nbsp; this is when he's pulled over by the sheriff. She&nbsp;&nbsp; tells him that it's a very, very, very bad idea&nbsp; to confront Makin and that she already knows all&nbsp;&nbsp;
[18:23] about the detectives, which I get that Carrie&nbsp; hates Hal, but she would have saved herself a&nbsp;&nbsp; lot of trouble if she just told Hal this from&nbsp; the beginning. However, Carrie decides to go&nbsp;&nbsp; with Hal after he asks what side she's really&nbsp; on. She stipulates to let her do the talking,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[18:36] but once at the ranch, Hal, of course, can't keep&nbsp; his mouth shut. The god then tries to get them to&nbsp;&nbsp; leave, which is when Megan rides in on his horse.&nbsp; Yeehaw! I'll give me a yee-haw. However, Min isn't&nbsp;&nbsp;
[18:49] interested in being grill buds with Hal anymore,&nbsp; and he tells him to get the hell out of his town,&nbsp;&nbsp; and he even has a Kevin Feige style sniper waiting&nbsp; in case he doesn't back down. Hal then tries to&nbsp;&nbsp; question him about the alien detectors, saying&nbsp; that he's been all over the galaxy and has never&nbsp;&nbsp;
[19:03] seen something so sophisticated. He says the&nbsp; detectors were a gift from his mysterious boss,&nbsp;&nbsp; but can't say anything else because of the NDA.&nbsp; Hal also asks if Makin's boss is even real or&nbsp;&nbsp; if it's a Is he even real or is just some Kaiser&nbsp; Soi situation? This is of course a reference to&nbsp;&nbsp;
[19:18] the 1990 film The Usual Suspects and their Kevin&nbsp; Spacy's character Roger Kint helps the cops in&nbsp;&nbsp; their investigation of a crime lord named Kaiser&nbsp; Sosi but by the spoiler alert. Well, yeah, we&nbsp;&nbsp; are going to spoil it. It's 1995. At the end, it's&nbsp; revealed that they're actually the same character,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[19:33] the same person. Spoilers for that movie. It's&nbsp; over 31 years old at this point. But the pair then&nbsp;&nbsp; argue with him, calling Makin's bluff about the&nbsp; shooting, while Makin also does the same thing to&nbsp;&nbsp; him. He then flashes his ring and says he can just&nbsp; stop the bullet, which we know is not true because&nbsp;&nbsp;
[19:47] it's dead before Hal can even finish the sentence.&nbsp; He then gets shot. And I know these are the bad&nbsp;&nbsp; guys, but Hal did kind of deserve that one.&nbsp; You can also see when the camera zooms out that&nbsp;&nbsp; there's a sign above the Min property that reads,&nbsp; "Study the past." This plays into Makin's obvious&nbsp;&nbsp;
[20:03] obsession with history and colonization, and it's&nbsp; just a nice little nice little bit of set design.&nbsp;&nbsp; Meanwhile, as Jon's leaving Hal's mansion, he gets&nbsp; jumped by three dudes who take him hostage. We get&nbsp;&nbsp; a nice little action scene that leads to a highway&nbsp; and also get some of Aaron Pierre running again,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[20:17] which he is a fantastic runner. We know that&nbsp; from episode one. My name is John Stewart and&nbsp;&nbsp; I am the fastest Green Lantern alive. There's&nbsp; also the baddy showing how powerful that they&nbsp;&nbsp; are. And we get a whoosh sound effect that&nbsp; you often get with a superhero landing.
[20:34] We then see Jon waking up surrounded by the&nbsp; goons and their boss. Now though we don't get&nbsp;&nbsp; his name here, the credits do list him as Antan.&nbsp; He apologizes to Jon for the violence it took to&nbsp;&nbsp; get him there and asks how Hal's able to project&nbsp; the construct when he's so far away. He's shocked&nbsp;&nbsp;
[20:49] to learn though that this is Jon's and it just&nbsp; highlights how strong his will is. And Tan then&nbsp;&nbsp; reveals the reason they took Jon is to find out&nbsp; what he knows about the Manhunters. No, I tied you&nbsp;&nbsp; up to ask about manhunters, which he says super&nbsp; dramatically. air, but I do think it might be a&nbsp;&nbsp;
[21:04] misdirect because of the way they talk about&nbsp; them um and build them up. I do wonder if the&nbsp;&nbsp; surviving one is going to turn out to be someone&nbsp; who just wants to lie low and that they might not&nbsp;&nbsp; be the threat that they've been built up as being&nbsp; kind of like um what they did with the scrolls in&nbsp;&nbsp;
[21:18] the MCU. However, Antan thinks Jon is just playing&nbsp; dumb, saying that it's hard to believe he doesn't&nbsp;&nbsp; know anything about the Manhunters given his&nbsp; proximity to Hal Jordan, which Jon clarifies&nbsp;&nbsp; that by proximity he means closeness and that&nbsp; obviously human isn't their first language because&nbsp;&nbsp;
[21:33] he's nowhere near close with Jordan. Also love&nbsp; how this sort of parallels Hal's interrogation&nbsp;&nbsp; with the alien suspect last week, except this&nbsp; time Jon's in the hot seat. But last week,&nbsp;&nbsp; the guy's ignorance of Harry Potter completely&nbsp; blew his cover. But here, John's able to deduce&nbsp;&nbsp;
[21:47] these people are aliens from just one slip up.&nbsp; And may I started questioning myself as well, like&nbsp;&nbsp; I say proximity a lot, too. Heavy spoilers as an&nbsp; alien. I do think he should have double checked by&nbsp;&nbsp; asking if he knows Neville Longbottom, but yeah,&nbsp; these guys aren't human. John then says they're&nbsp;&nbsp;
[22:03] about to torture a guy who doesn't know anything,&nbsp; but Antan assures him they don't want to torture&nbsp;&nbsp; him. They want to recruit him. He says there's&nbsp; no time for subtlety and that one of the most&nbsp;&nbsp; dangerous beings to ever exist knows it's been&nbsp; found and is preparing its brutal response. He&nbsp;&nbsp;
[22:16] then asks if Jon really thinks the Green Lanterns&nbsp; came first. Realizing that Jon really doesn't know&nbsp;&nbsp; what's going on, the alien boss says this is&nbsp; actually a good thing because he doesn't need&nbsp;&nbsp; to change Jon's mind simply just to enlighten him.&nbsp; We then get the rundown from Antan that there was&nbsp;&nbsp;
[22:31] a time of chaos in the galaxy until the Manhunters&nbsp; came on the scene. They were mysterious synthetic&nbsp;&nbsp; beings able to take the form of any species and&nbsp; embed themselves within the society. Able to build&nbsp;&nbsp; technology far beyond the planets they inhabited.&nbsp; The manhunters carried out their own form of&nbsp;&nbsp;
[22:45] brutal justice that destroyed entire planets until&nbsp; they mysteriously disappeared. However, the boss&nbsp;&nbsp; says that one of the manhunters stayed behind&nbsp; and quietly orchestrated a holocaust on their&nbsp;&nbsp; home planet. He asks if Jon has ever been betrayed&nbsp; by someone he loves and that if he has, then he'll&nbsp;&nbsp;
[23:00] understand when he experiences what the manhunters&nbsp; did to them. We then see the alien goons loading&nbsp;&nbsp; up what looks to be a laser gun and throwing Jon&nbsp; on the ground before stabbing him with it in the&nbsp;&nbsp; neck. This then makes him scream in pain and&nbsp; we see the gun flooding his brain with what I'm&nbsp;&nbsp;
[23:15] assuming are brutal images of the alien genocide&nbsp; that Anttown was just talking about and definitely&nbsp;&nbsp; not pictures of Ryan Arie which would have sent&nbsp; me over the edge. But yeah, we've just had a lot&nbsp;&nbsp; of stuff thrown at us at once. Whoa, what? Stop&nbsp; throwing your stuff. So, let's take a moment to&nbsp;&nbsp;
[23:29] talk about these manhunters. Now, in the comics,&nbsp; the Manhunters were the Guardians first attempt at&nbsp;&nbsp; creating a galactic space core. They built a race&nbsp; of alien androids that they called the Manhunters,&nbsp;&nbsp; who were meant to be the ultimate force of good&nbsp; in the universe. They then gave them stun guns&nbsp;&nbsp;
[23:43] powered by the Green Lantern's power battery and&nbsp; sent them off across the universe with the oath,&nbsp;&nbsp; "No evil escapes the Manhunters." Now, while the&nbsp; Manhunters fulfilled their duties for almost a&nbsp;&nbsp; millennium, their programming was altered by&nbsp; a rogue guardian known as Croner. This led to&nbsp;&nbsp;
[23:56] them developing a narrower definition of evil in&nbsp; which crime is a result of emotional responses.&nbsp;&nbsp; In the end, this caused them to realize that&nbsp; the only logical solution to stopping crime is&nbsp;&nbsp; to kill all organic life. That's one way to do&nbsp; it. The oath was then changed to no man escapes&nbsp;&nbsp;
[24:13] the manhunters. They then declared war on the&nbsp; guardians to take their power for themselves.&nbsp;&nbsp; This didn't go well for them, though, and when&nbsp; they tried to claim the central power battery,&nbsp;&nbsp; it destroyed all their stun guns and lantern&nbsp; batteries throughout the universe, which left&nbsp;&nbsp;
[24:25] them powerless. The Guardians then banished them&nbsp; to live on whatever planet they'd been recently&nbsp;&nbsp; inhabiting, and they believed that without the&nbsp; powers of the Central Battery, they would never be&nbsp;&nbsp; a threat again. However, over time, the Manhunters&nbsp; began to regroup and discover that the Guardians&nbsp;&nbsp;
[24:39] had replaced them with the Green Lanterns. They&nbsp; then vowed to get their revenge, and this would&nbsp;&nbsp; come at destroying the Green Lantern Corps.&nbsp; The manhunters then quietly continued dealing&nbsp;&nbsp; out their special brand of justice over eons&nbsp; as they regained their numbers. Eventually,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[24:52] they made their way to Earth during the Middle&nbsp; Ages and discovered it had been abandoned by the&nbsp;&nbsp; Guardians and had no Green Lantern to protect it,&nbsp; which I always thought this line in Justice League&nbsp;&nbsp; was a little bit of a reference to. No protectors&nbsp; here, no lanterns, no Kryptonium. But this made&nbsp;&nbsp;
[25:09] it the perfect place for the manhunters to hide&nbsp; themselves until they became powerful enough to&nbsp;&nbsp; take on the lanterns. Interesting uh comic history&nbsp; fact as well. Yeah, the manhunter was originally&nbsp;&nbsp; a character created by Jack Kirby in 1975's first&nbsp; special issue 5. There there was a man named Mark&nbsp;&nbsp;
[25:25] Shaw who discovered an ancient society called the&nbsp; Manhunter cult. And after joining them, he then&nbsp;&nbsp; took on the mantle of Manhunter and started to&nbsp; fight crime. It wasn't until 1977's Justice League&nbsp;&nbsp; 140 that Shaw returned as the manhunter to arrest&nbsp; Hal after he accidentally blew up a planet. The&nbsp;&nbsp;
[25:41] secret origin with the Guardians was then revealed&nbsp; in issue 141. Now, I think this mind control gun&nbsp;&nbsp; that Antan is using on Jon here might actually be&nbsp; one of the Manhunter's original stun guns. While&nbsp;&nbsp; the ethics of it are debated amongst the core, the&nbsp; lantern ring is also capable of altering someone's&nbsp;&nbsp;
[25:57] mind and it can project information into the mind&nbsp; of others. So, if this is one of the Manhunter&nbsp;&nbsp; stun guns, it seems to have just a little juice&nbsp; left or Anton was somehow able to recreate the&nbsp;&nbsp; power somehow. You also notice that the light on&nbsp; the gun is orange and not green. In the comics,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[26:13] not familiar with Green Lantern law, the powers&nbsp; of the various lanterns come from energy created&nbsp;&nbsp; by the emotions of sentient beings. This is called&nbsp; the emotional electromagnetic spectrum. Green is&nbsp;&nbsp;
[26:27] powered by will, red by rage, yellow by fear,&nbsp; and so on and so on. Not really sure how greed&nbsp;&nbsp; fits into it and how they're projecting these&nbsp; images into Jon's head, but given everything in&nbsp;&nbsp; the Green Lantern world and how it revolves around&nbsp; colors. I couldn't help but go down this road of&nbsp;&nbsp;
[26:42] reaching. But this leads us into our next part&nbsp; of Antan's little speech about how his world was&nbsp;&nbsp; destroyed by the manhunters. He said this resulted&nbsp; in the death of an entire species. In the comics,&nbsp;&nbsp; this event was known as the massacre of sector&nbsp; 666 or 666. You you you get the subtext there,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[27:00] mate. During 2008 Green Lantern issue 33, it was&nbsp; revealed the Manhunters went on a full-on murder&nbsp;&nbsp; spree before being stopped by the Guardians.&nbsp; They killed all sentient life in the entire&nbsp;&nbsp; sector and left only five remaining survivors.&nbsp; After the Manhunters were exiled, the Guardians&nbsp;&nbsp;
[27:15] then refused to accept their failure and basically&nbsp; covered up their crimes. Oops. Better delete that.&nbsp;&nbsp; basically basically greenwashed the entire thing.&nbsp; However, the five beings who survived the massacre&nbsp;&nbsp;
[27:32] came together to form a group known as the five&nbsp; inversions led by being known as Atrocidus. They&nbsp;&nbsp; swore revenge on the Guardians of the Universe&nbsp; for creating the Manhunters. Over the years,&nbsp;&nbsp; Atrocidus became so consumed with rage that it got&nbsp; to the point that it physically manifested into&nbsp;&nbsp;
[27:46] a red lantern. He then used this to bludgeon one&nbsp; of his fellow inversions to death and discovered&nbsp;&nbsp; the red spectrum. Atrocidus then killed the rest&nbsp; of the inversions and used their blood to create&nbsp;&nbsp; a red central power battery and also the red&nbsp; lantern rings. Now based on what Antan says here,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[28:00] I think it's pretty clear that the massacre of&nbsp; sector 666 is what the character is talking about&nbsp;&nbsp; and it means that he's closely he might be or&nbsp; could be connected to Atrocities. My first thought&nbsp;&nbsp; was that this little crew of his were the other&nbsp; five inversions. But we can see that there's six&nbsp;&nbsp;
[28:15] of them, including Antan. We also have the four&nbsp; of the members who were killed in Rushville. So,&nbsp;&nbsp; I am thinking that these might be the members&nbsp; of his Red Lantern core, which could also be why&nbsp;&nbsp; Antan says they want to recruit him. The gun could&nbsp; also basically transfer atrocities rage into Jon,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[28:30] and this would expose him to the Red Spectrum and&nbsp; would allow him to become a Red Lantern. After&nbsp;&nbsp; getting his mind blown by the horror show, they&nbsp; then pick Jon up and Antan tells him the effects&nbsp;&nbsp; of their collective loss will remain in him for&nbsp; some time. Antan then continues on with his story,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[28:43] saying that eventually the Guardians became aware&nbsp; of the Manhunter's crimes and sent a Green Lantern&nbsp;&nbsp; to arrest him, which also apparently guaranteed&nbsp; them he would be executed. However, Antan and what&nbsp;&nbsp; was left of his people thought this was [&nbsp;__&nbsp;] and&nbsp; believed the manhunter was still alive somewhere.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[28:57] So, they spent years searching for it until&nbsp; they discovered a radiation signal specific&nbsp;&nbsp; to the manhunters on Earth coming from good old&nbsp; Rushville. And like I've been saying, Noah is the&nbsp;&nbsp; Manhunter. However, since the Manhunter is able to&nbsp; disguise itself as human, they had to send a recon&nbsp;&nbsp;
[29:12] team to locate it, which obviously we know ended&nbsp; pretty badly and they were shot up by Makin's&nbsp;&nbsp; crew. However, after they were killed, who just&nbsp; so happened to show up even not an hour later, but&nbsp;&nbsp; Hal Jordan. This has led Antan to believe that the&nbsp; lanterns are protecting the manhunter. And they&nbsp;&nbsp;
[29:27] basically want Jon to be their inside man so he&nbsp; can identify this figure. They have an ultimatum&nbsp;&nbsp; that if he can't find the manhunter in the next 48&nbsp; hours, they'll have to resort to drastic measures&nbsp;&nbsp; and blow Rushville to high hell. So yeah, Jon is&nbsp; pretty screwed. And considering we've seen what&nbsp;&nbsp;
[29:42] the place looks like in 2026, I'm not sure if it&nbsp; works out well for them. if, right? And it's a big&nbsp;&nbsp; if, but yeah, if our Red Lantern theory turns out&nbsp; to be true as well, I think it would be a really&nbsp;&nbsp; cool way to test Jon throughout the series. This&nbsp; would present him with a choice to give into his&nbsp;&nbsp;
[29:56] anger and resentment, which we can see clearly&nbsp; has for Val, or if his will can overcome it. Red&nbsp;&nbsp; or green pill, Jon, you decide. There's still a&nbsp; lot about Jon's backstory that we don't quite know&nbsp;&nbsp; yet, but I do imagine based on what we saw of his&nbsp; childhood that there's a lot of trauma to unpack&nbsp;&nbsp;
[30:12] there, especially regarding Hal Jordan and how&nbsp; he was found by the Guardians. One last thing as&nbsp;&nbsp; well, because I know we've gone on a massive Green&nbsp; Lantern law dump there, but if it wasn't obvious,&nbsp;&nbsp; the lantern Antan is likely talking about, I&nbsp; think, has to be Avinc. As we learned last week,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[30:27] Rushville is where Hal found Avenern claimed&nbsp; the ring, which also plays perfectly into our&nbsp;&nbsp; Red Lantern theory. As we touched upon earlier as&nbsp; well, the Infinite Crisis event retconed Abinser's&nbsp;&nbsp; origin with Legion and instead had it at the hands&nbsp; of Atrocidus. The villain was captured by Abinser,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[30:42] but he was able to instill fear in him, weaken&nbsp; his willpower, and this then gave Atrocidus a&nbsp;&nbsp; chance to escape. He mortally wounded him and left&nbsp; him for dead on Earth. And if Antan is Atrocidus,&nbsp;&nbsp; this would be a great way to test how alongside&nbsp; Jon. We could then learn the truth about Abinser's&nbsp;&nbsp;
[30:56] death and the Guardian's role in the death of the&nbsp; entire sector and how they've unknowingly played a&nbsp;&nbsp; part in their cover up. Hal even said last episode&nbsp; that Abinser's crash never sat right with him and&nbsp;&nbsp; that he believes it wasn't an accident. That's why&nbsp; my gut always told me that crash was no accident.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[31:13] Back in Rushville, we then see Hal waking up in&nbsp; hospital after being shot by Min. And Carrie then&nbsp;&nbsp; asks about Sinestro. Why did you say that name?&nbsp; Yeah, how h how does she know that name? She's&nbsp;&nbsp; not authorized to talk about it. However, Carrie&nbsp; says Hal talks about him a lot in his sleep and&nbsp;&nbsp;
[31:28] pulls Sinestro up on Google. She then gives a bit&nbsp; of backstory, saying Sinestro was a Greenland who&nbsp;&nbsp; attempted a coup and killed a guardian before&nbsp; being stopped by Hal, which all jokes aside,&nbsp;&nbsp; yeah, I'm curious as to where Carrie looked&nbsp; up this information. I don't know if Google&nbsp;&nbsp;
[31:42] has access to Greenland history, and it would be&nbsp; a bit weird if you could just go and look this&nbsp;&nbsp; up. Does also make me wonder a couple things&nbsp; about Carrie. And as I'm sure you've guessed,&nbsp;&nbsp; I've still got my suspicions around her. Now,&nbsp; if you're unfamiliar with Green Lantern law,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[31:55] um Sinestro is basically Hal Jordan's arch nemesis&nbsp; in the comics. Sinestro was once considered the&nbsp;&nbsp; greatest of all Green Lanterns, and he kept his&nbsp; home planet Kuraga on sector 1417, completely&nbsp;&nbsp; free of crime under his protection. Trained by&nbsp; Aban Sir, Sinestro became Hal Jordan's mentor,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[32:11] and the two quickly bonded. Sinestro became sort&nbsp; of a father figure to Hal as he learned how to&nbsp;&nbsp; control his anger and mastered the ring. They&nbsp; even got in trouble with the Guardians for being&nbsp;&nbsp; two good old friends, and they were two guys that&nbsp; basically always hit the thumbs up and shared each&nbsp;&nbsp;
[32:24] other's videos. However, back on his home planet,&nbsp; Sinestro became obsessed with making it a paradise&nbsp;&nbsp; free of all crime and proving the true potential&nbsp; of the Green Lantern's power. This turned him into&nbsp;&nbsp; a dictator and he ruled through fear. And when&nbsp; Hal became aware of what Sinestro was doing,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[32:38] he called the Guardians for backup. Sinestro was&nbsp; then arrested, stripped of his Green Lantern ring,&nbsp;&nbsp; and banished to an anti-atter universe. How about&nbsp; during his imprisonment, Sinestro swore revenge on&nbsp;&nbsp; the Guardians and Hal Jordan for their betrayal.&nbsp; And for the first time in his life, he felt fear.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[32:53] With the help of weapons smiths from the planet&nbsp; Quad, Sinestro manifested his fear into a new&nbsp;&nbsp; yellow power ring and became the first yellow&nbsp; lantern. He then harnessed the power of fear&nbsp;&nbsp; and the yellow spectrum of power, which is the&nbsp; opposing power of will and why Green Lantern rings&nbsp;&nbsp;
[33:08] don't work on things that are yellow. Sinestro&nbsp; has done lots of awful stuff in the comics,&nbsp;&nbsp; though. Um, but I couldn't find an instance of him&nbsp; murdering one of the guardians as Kerry mentions&nbsp;&nbsp; here. So, I am interested to see how they'll&nbsp; change things up. Um, and basically alter&nbsp;&nbsp;
[33:23] Sinestro and House history together. Also, since&nbsp; we're talking about Sinestro, where me and you may&nbsp;&nbsp; having this little chat about Sinestro, this will&nbsp; be an admitted reach. I'll admit that, which is&nbsp;&nbsp; kind of becoming a catchphrase of the video. Uh,&nbsp; but the the little snowflakes on Hal's hospital&nbsp;&nbsp;
[33:35] down here did look a bit like the Sinestro&nbsp; core symbol. I know they're just snowflakes,&nbsp;&nbsp; uh, but it it was just nice to think of this&nbsp; as a little bit of visual symbolism. Anyway,&nbsp;&nbsp; back to the scene. Sheriff Carrie then lays&nbsp; down the law and tells Hala it's time to cut&nbsp;&nbsp;
[33:51] the [&nbsp;__&nbsp;] and start listening to her. Every&nbsp; time he goes rogue, all he's doing is making&nbsp;&nbsp; things worse and also undermining Carrie. Going&nbsp; rogue just reinforces the idea that Makin's the&nbsp;&nbsp; one who really controls Rushville and that carries&nbsp; some sort of stand in sheriff which surprisingly&nbsp;&nbsp;
[34:06] Hal actually agrees with and even apologizes for.&nbsp; We can also see they kind of have a little moment&nbsp;&nbsp; together too that indicates Carrie is warming up&nbsp; to Hal a bit. How about Carrie also makes it clear&nbsp;&nbsp; that she's not on Hal's side or Makans but is&nbsp; just desperately trying to hold the town together.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[34:21] We then see the two have a little truth bonding&nbsp; session where Kerry reveals the reason she was&nbsp;&nbsp; trying so hard to get Hal to leave. She didn't&nbsp; want Megan to use the incident to make everyone&nbsp;&nbsp; in town paranoid about being invaded. And Hal then&nbsp; tells her the reason that he refuses to leave is&nbsp;&nbsp;
[34:35] because he has a gut feeling that something more&nbsp; is going on here. But he agrees to stay out of&nbsp;&nbsp; Kerry's way now that they're friends. In a moment,&nbsp; we also see Hal trying to bond more with Carrie&nbsp;&nbsp; and learn that she's originally from Gotham.&nbsp; This is obviously a nod to Batman, mate. Uh,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[34:49] give let's give ourselves a pat on the back for&nbsp; spotting that one. Uh, but we also learned last&nbsp;&nbsp; episode that Kerry's last name is Kane. Batman was&nbsp; of course co-created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger.&nbsp;&nbsp; And this sort of made its way into the comics. The&nbsp; Canes are the immediate family of Bruce's mother,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[35:04] Martha. Why did you say that name? What? And some&nbsp; of you may also recognize the name Kane from the&nbsp;&nbsp; the comics. So, the name Kane is pretty important.&nbsp; Now, no, before you start, mate, we've done enough&nbsp;&nbsp;
[35:19] reaching in this video, and I don't think Sheriff&nbsp; Carrey will be Batoman. Uh, but it's a cool little&nbsp;&nbsp; node to some DC comic history. How about despite&nbsp; Hal and Car's newfound understanding as they go&nbsp;&nbsp; to leave the hospital, Hal notices that he's&nbsp; the only patient. Carrie just brushes this off,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[35:33] saying it's a small town, but Hal also points out&nbsp; how all of the equipment looks like it just came&nbsp;&nbsp; out the box. So, it seems like Carrie may have&nbsp; some more secrets up her sleeve, and I've bloody&nbsp;&nbsp; figured it out. She is in fact the Manhunter. We&nbsp; then meet back up with John as he's getting back&nbsp;&nbsp;
[35:47] to Rushville and he stops at a diner for a quick&nbsp; bite to eat and who just so happens to be there,&nbsp;&nbsp; Makin's wife, Zoe. She just chalks it up to&nbsp; being a small town as well and invites Jon to&nbsp;&nbsp;
[35:59] sit with her. Now, I really hope that we learn in&nbsp; a couple of episodes that Jon was on to her from&nbsp;&nbsp; the start because come on, mate. This lady is very&nbsp; suspicious. She is the manhunter. You can even&nbsp;&nbsp;
[36:11] see she's already watching Jon before he notices&nbsp; her. And the only thing she has is a coffee. Also,&nbsp;&nbsp; notice how Jon's bird flies over to the light&nbsp; directly across from her and not onto Jon's&nbsp;&nbsp; shoulder, almost like it's watching her, too.&nbsp; But Jon seemingly takes the bait and sits down.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[36:27] He tells her that he wouldn't have slept with her&nbsp; if he'd known she was married, but she isn't very&nbsp;&nbsp; sorry about it. Zoe then goes on to explain&nbsp; that the reason she's with Min is for the&nbsp;&nbsp; security that it offers. And despite him being&nbsp; a rich guy lpping as a cowboy, they do in fact&nbsp;&nbsp;
[36:41] love each other. However, she quickly brings the&nbsp; conversation back to Hal and Jon admits that he's&nbsp;&nbsp; still trying to figure out if he can trust him,&nbsp; which Zoe says, "If you have to ask the question,&nbsp;&nbsp; then you already know the answer." Now, I know&nbsp; I've been super suspicious about Zoe since the&nbsp;&nbsp;
[36:58] first time we met her, but come on, mate. She&nbsp; just shows up to this random diner Jon just so&nbsp;&nbsp; happens to stop at on his way into town, brings&nbsp; up how the first chance she gets, and even tries&nbsp;&nbsp; to subtly pit Jon against him. To me, it's clear&nbsp; she's trying to play Jon for information about&nbsp;&nbsp;
[37:14] who clearly has a thing for aliens, but I don't&nbsp; think that's much fun. So, what we're going to&nbsp;&nbsp; do is the biggest theory time of the video, and&nbsp; that is that she is in fact the Manhunter. Now,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[37:27] I actually have a wilder theory than that. And I&nbsp; think that perhaps Zoe Makin could be the daughter&nbsp;&nbsp; of Sinestro. This is someone known as Sonic&nbsp; Natu. And you might be thinking, "Wo there,&nbsp;&nbsp; Paul. Excellent. Nailed the pronunciation." H.&nbsp; But you might have also lost it this time. So,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[37:42] let me explain. So, this scene comes right&nbsp; after we get our first mention of Sinestro. And&nbsp;&nbsp; the place is filled with lots of yellow things.&nbsp; Like we talked about earlier, this is the color&nbsp;&nbsp; of Fier. And I do think it is some kind of visual&nbsp; foreshadowing. Specifically where Zoe is sitting,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[37:58] you can see a bottle of mustard on the table. And&nbsp; there's a chicken statue behind her that appears&nbsp;&nbsp; yellow due to the lighting. When Jon notices&nbsp; her from the bar, we can also see two more&nbsp;&nbsp; mustard bottles with Jon framed in the middle of&nbsp; them. And I mean, for Christ's sake, even the the&nbsp;&nbsp;
[38:11] wallpaper's yellow. Now, in the comics, when&nbsp; Sinestro was still at Green Lantern and best&nbsp;&nbsp; friends with Abins, he fell in love with Aban's&nbsp; sister, Aaron Su. Together, they had a daughter&nbsp;&nbsp; named Sarinik. But when Sinestro started becoming&nbsp; more and more hinged, Aaron secretly gave her a&nbsp;&nbsp;
[38:24] way to save her. Hidden from Sinestro, Saurin grew&nbsp; up to become a neurosurgeon on their home planet.&nbsp;&nbsp; After Sinestro then enslaved the planet using&nbsp; his Green Lantern ring, the Lanterns became a&nbsp;&nbsp; symbol of oppression. How about Saurin eventually&nbsp; became a Green Lantern herself after a ring came&nbsp;&nbsp;
[38:38] to her following the death of the newest Latin&nbsp; of sector 1417. It was later revealed that after&nbsp;&nbsp; Sinestra went full on bad guy and became a yellow&nbsp; Latin, he found Sony and marked her with a family&nbsp;&nbsp; coat of arms. And I'm trying my best to get the&nbsp; pronunciation as cool sounding as possible. But&nbsp;&nbsp;
[38:53] this coat of arms contained a microtransmitter&nbsp; that basically meant he could secretly watch her&nbsp;&nbsp; and follow her her entire life. Wasn't until&nbsp; the prelude to the Blackest night event that&nbsp;&nbsp; Sinestro then returned to her and revealed his&nbsp; true identity to his daughter. Now, while she&nbsp;&nbsp;
[39:06] remained with the Greenlands and is typically&nbsp; on the side of good, Sarnick later joined her&nbsp;&nbsp; dad and even became the leader of the Sinestro&nbsp; Corps herself for a time after he was injured.&nbsp;&nbsp; If Zoe does turn out to be her, it would then&nbsp; explain why she's so interested in Hal Jordan&nbsp;&nbsp;
[39:21] and trying to cozy up to Jon. Given that we just&nbsp; learned from Carrie that Hal was the one who took&nbsp;&nbsp; Sinestro down. It is possible that she blames Hal&nbsp; and the Green Lantern Corps for what happened to&nbsp;&nbsp; her father. She could also be trying to use Jon&nbsp; in order to get Hal and free Sinestro. And there's&nbsp;&nbsp;
[39:34] also the fact that Hal's predecessor Abinsur is&nbsp; Sauronic's uncle. Since even Hal believes there&nbsp;&nbsp; was some kind of cover up involving his death in&nbsp; Rushville, the pieces would all fall into place.&nbsp;&nbsp; This would give her even more motive to come after&nbsp; Jon and Hal, either for revenge or to find her own&nbsp;&nbsp;
[39:50] answers as to what really happened to Avenir. This&nbsp; would also explain why Zoe came to Rushville in&nbsp;&nbsp; the first place and got with the one guy who is on&nbsp; constant alien watch. Now, I know I'm filling in a&nbsp;&nbsp; lot of blanks here. I've seen your comments last&nbsp; week about reaching, but I think this would be a&nbsp;&nbsp;
[40:06] really cool reveal if it happened to be true.&nbsp; She's obviously playing some kind of game with&nbsp;&nbsp; Jon here. And I just think it would be kind of&nbsp; underwhelming if she's just trying to get info for&nbsp;&nbsp; making. There's even a recent story line in which&nbsp; Sinics possessed by the fear entity parallax and&nbsp;&nbsp;
[40:20] transfers it to Jon, which I I don't think that's&nbsp; where they're going, but hey, who knows? So,&nbsp;&nbsp; yeah, went on a went on a bit of a crazy theory&nbsp; time there, especially this early in the show,&nbsp;&nbsp; but I think it would be a great way to give Zoe a&nbsp; bigger role in the series and another way to test&nbsp;&nbsp;
[40:35] Jon. The show very much emphasizes the whole Green&nbsp; Lanterns can't have fear thing and Jon having to&nbsp;&nbsp; prove himself by facing the literal embodiment&nbsp; of fear be such a great way to show how Jon was&nbsp;&nbsp; always destined to be a Green Lantern. Speaking of&nbsp; Jon's destiny as well, we then see Zoe drop him at&nbsp;&nbsp;
[40:52] Hal's motel. There he gives Hal a lantern and gets&nbsp; caught up on Hal being shot and his theory that&nbsp;&nbsp; Mak's hiding something on the ranch. We also see&nbsp; Hal recharge his ring and I love how he just goes&nbsp;&nbsp; through the oath very, very fast. However, it's&nbsp; clear that Jon is still trying to decide if he&nbsp;&nbsp;
[41:06] trusts Hal and tries to just go back to his room,&nbsp; which is when he notices blood all over the rental&nbsp;&nbsp; car. Haren cracks a joke about the insurance,&nbsp; which Jon does not find funny, and he decides to&nbsp;&nbsp; confront Hal about the Manhunters. He immediately&nbsp; drops his [&nbsp;__&nbsp;] though, and asks, "Why did you&nbsp;&nbsp;
[41:21] say that name?" He then rushes through a recap&nbsp; of what's just happened and says how they suspect&nbsp;&nbsp; Hal and the Guardians are the ones hiding the&nbsp; manhunter. How about we can see that regardless&nbsp;&nbsp; of what the Guardians are doing, Hal is not a&nbsp; part of it. He then takes this as confirmation&nbsp;&nbsp;
[41:33] that his gut feeling was right and that Abins must&nbsp; have been killed by the manhunter while bringing&nbsp;&nbsp; it to Earth. Jon then tries to ask Hal more about&nbsp; the manhunters, but he brushes him off saying it's&nbsp;&nbsp; simply above his pay grade. However, Jon says&nbsp; it very much is now, and that the kidnappers&nbsp;&nbsp;
[41:49] also told him that creating a living construct&nbsp; and keeping it alive without wearing a ring is&nbsp;&nbsp; so advanced that it's practically impossible.&nbsp; Jon says it can't be true because if it were,&nbsp;&nbsp; Hal would have at least acknowledged it. to which&nbsp; Hal sarcastically gives him a hurrah. He then asks&nbsp;&nbsp;
[42:04] Jon why he manifested a bird and says that he&nbsp; brought it to life from his subconscious so&nbsp;&nbsp; it must mean something to him. But Jon says it's&nbsp; just a bird and it turns to dust in his hand which&nbsp;&nbsp; he can see despite what he's just said seems to&nbsp; make both him and Har a bit sad made me made me&nbsp;&nbsp;
[42:20] sad that like was kind of hoping Jon would have a&nbsp; little bird sidekick for for the whole series. But&nbsp;&nbsp; I do wonder, getting serious again, if this comes&nbsp; from his past and he's just acting nonchalant,&nbsp;&nbsp; as it might cause trauma in him and then make&nbsp; him feel fear. Like I mentioned before as well,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[42:35] creating living constructs is not something every&nbsp; Green Lantern can do. And this is what makes Jon&nbsp;&nbsp; Stewart one of the most powerful lanterns to ever&nbsp; wear the ring. In the comics, Jon's insane level&nbsp;&nbsp; of willpower makes his constructs some of the most&nbsp; powerful of any lantern. designs them from inside&nbsp;&nbsp;
[42:50] out, constructs them piece by piece, and this&nbsp; is all in order to make them work practically&nbsp;&nbsp; on a much stronger level. Jon's willpower is so&nbsp; great that he's even able to channel the power of&nbsp;&nbsp; will without wearing a ring. This is how he was&nbsp; able to maintain the bird construct throughout&nbsp;&nbsp;
[43:04] the episode and why Antan said it proved Jon&nbsp; could do the impossible. Jon has even a ring&nbsp;&nbsp; into existence from nothing and this happened&nbsp; when he was part of the Justice League and fought&nbsp;&nbsp; against Sinestro. Now, while Jon and other Latins&nbsp; have made constructs of people before, it wasn't&nbsp;&nbsp;
[43:18] until Philip Kennedy Johnson's Green Lantern War&nbsp; Journal that showed Jon could also create life. He&nbsp;&nbsp; created a construct of his deceased sister Ellie&nbsp; to watch over their mother who was suffering from&nbsp;&nbsp; dementia. However, unlike the other constructs,&nbsp; Ellie was fully sentient and was able to exist and&nbsp;&nbsp;
[43:32] make decisions entirely independent of Jon. So,&nbsp; while it may just be a little bird in the show,&nbsp;&nbsp; this is no small feat and shows how insanely&nbsp; powerful Jon's will is. It's also something&nbsp;&nbsp; Hal probably doesn't really want Jon to know&nbsp; either, and he almost doesn't want to give&nbsp;&nbsp;
[43:48] him that acknowledgement, as it would be like&nbsp; admitting that he's better for the job. After&nbsp;&nbsp; John kills his bed and retires for the night, Hal&nbsp; isn't quite ready to just sleep this all off. So,&nbsp;&nbsp; he grabs his bag and puts on his suit for the&nbsp; first time in what I imagine is a very long&nbsp;&nbsp;
[44:02] time before then flying off into space. We then&nbsp; see Hal flying over what looks like a desolate&nbsp;&nbsp; planet with a gigantic crack in the middle. I did&nbsp; even wonder as well and when the trailer came out&nbsp;&nbsp; if if the the crack that we see in this shot was&nbsp; created by Lex Luthther and Superman, but yeah,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[44:16] this is taking place in 2016. So, I don't know&nbsp; why I'm telling you this, but I'm debunking my&nbsp;&nbsp; own theory. We then see him walking through&nbsp; some kind of alien prison. And in the comics,&nbsp;&nbsp; these are called sign cells. This is where the&nbsp; Guardians keep their most dangerous prisoners. And&nbsp;&nbsp;
[44:30] this is because they refuse to kill any sentient&nbsp; beings because yeah, life is precious. Each sign&nbsp;&nbsp; cell is also specifically designed to contain&nbsp; each villain and neutralize their power. However,&nbsp;&nbsp; in the comics, sign cells are also located on the&nbsp; Guardian's home planet, OA, which I don't think&nbsp;&nbsp;
[44:45] is the planet we see here. I mean, it could be.&nbsp; Uh, but OA in the comics has a massive city with&nbsp;&nbsp; oceans and forests and all kinds of regular planet&nbsp; stuff, but this place looks frozen in time. At&nbsp;&nbsp;
[44:57] least from the bird's eye view of it we get here.&nbsp; This makes me think the show could be pulling&nbsp;&nbsp; from some earlier Green Lantern comics where the&nbsp; Guardians sent their prisoners to a prison planet.&nbsp;&nbsp; There they created artificial time divisions&nbsp; to stop the criminals from ever escaping or&nbsp;&nbsp;
[45:09] contacting each other and this also prevented them&nbsp; from aging and basically made their imprisonment&nbsp;&nbsp; eternal. As Hal makes his way through the prison,&nbsp; we then see him come to a cell that he has to&nbsp;&nbsp; unlock by stating his identity. And it's at this&nbsp; point we're introduced to the infamous Sinestro.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[45:23] Hal has come to question him about the manhunters.&nbsp; However, Sinestro is a bit insulted that Hal&nbsp;&nbsp; doesn't even ask him how he's doing. He then says&nbsp; that if a manhunter still existed, it would be the&nbsp;&nbsp; second biggest problem he's facing before asking&nbsp; him to tell him about John Stewart. That's where&nbsp;&nbsp;
[45:38] we end the episode. H, and we have a lot to unpack&nbsp; there, but I'll try and make this very quick&nbsp;&nbsp; uh because we've gone through a lot of comic&nbsp; book lore already today. The way Sinestro asks&nbsp;&nbsp; about Jon seems to imply that he's Hal's biggest&nbsp; problem next to the Manhunters. I think this is&nbsp;&nbsp;
[45:52] more of a loaded question than it seems though&nbsp; and given everything that we've talked about in&nbsp;&nbsp; this episode with the Red Lanterns Sinestro his&nbsp; daughter Abinser and so on and so on. I think the&nbsp;&nbsp; real problem that Sinestro is referring to here&nbsp; is the prophecy of the blackest knight in the&nbsp;&nbsp;
[46:06] comics. The blackest knight is something that&nbsp; fetals the end of the universe after the seven&nbsp;&nbsp; cores of the emotional spectrum fighting a war&nbsp; of light that would awaken the primal darkness of&nbsp;&nbsp; the universe and destroy completely everything.&nbsp; While the guardians were aware of the prophecy,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[46:20] they refused to believe it and hid it in the&nbsp; last chapter of the book of Oah. However,&nbsp;&nbsp; after Atrocidus and the other five inversions&nbsp; were imprisoned by the Guardians, they performed&nbsp;&nbsp; a ritual that allowed them to peer into the future&nbsp; and discover the prophecy themselves. Atrocidus&nbsp;&nbsp;
[46:33] and the other inversions then told the prophecy&nbsp; to Aban Sir when he visited their planet on a&nbsp;&nbsp; rescue mission along with how he would die and be&nbsp; replaced by Hal Jordan, but he was forbidden to&nbsp;&nbsp; speak of it by the Guardians who told him that the&nbsp; inversions were demons that told lies. Abins then&nbsp;&nbsp;
[46:49] continued to visit the inversions to learn more&nbsp; about the blackest knight and Atrocidus convinced&nbsp;&nbsp; him that the source of the black that would&nbsp; consume the entire universe was located on Earth.&nbsp;&nbsp; This is when Abinser took Atrocidus captive on his&nbsp; ship which resulted in his death. The prophecy of&nbsp;&nbsp;
[47:04] the blackest knight was also the reason that&nbsp; Sinestro became a tyrant and what led to him&nbsp;&nbsp; becoming a yellow lantern. There after he and&nbsp; Hal arrested Atrocidus for the murder of Abins,&nbsp;&nbsp; Atrocid gave Sinestro a prophecy of his own of how&nbsp; his home world would descend into chaos. This then&nbsp;&nbsp;
[47:18] led onto him becoming a tyrant out of fear of it&nbsp; coming true. And that kind of works everything&nbsp;&nbsp; together and fits perfectly. And Paul, you are&nbsp; a genius. Now, I know I'm kind of working on&nbsp;&nbsp;
[47:31] the assumption here that all our previous theories&nbsp; are right, which they probably aren't. Um, but it&nbsp;&nbsp; seems like this is possibly a direction that the&nbsp; show might be taking us. Blackest night is widely&nbsp;&nbsp;
[47:43] considered one of the best Green Lantern stories&nbsp; from the comics. Um, so it wouldn't be surprising&nbsp;&nbsp; if uh that's something they're adapting. It's a&nbsp; massive event that spans across multiple titles.&nbsp;&nbsp; But another major character that sets this all&nbsp; off is the Green Lantern villain, the Black Hand,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[47:56] who we theorized last week could be William Min.&nbsp; This scene with Hal visiting Sinestro in prison&nbsp;&nbsp; also seems like it's directly pulled from 2005's&nbsp; Green Lantern issue 28. There Sinestro tells Hal&nbsp;&nbsp;
[48:08] about the Blackest Night and sets the whole event&nbsp; off following the Sinestro core war. Obviously, I&nbsp;&nbsp; think a lot of what happens in the comics will be&nbsp; changed for the show, but with both of these first&nbsp;&nbsp; two episodes putting such a focus on Abinser's&nbsp; death and connecting it to what's going on in&nbsp;&nbsp;
[48:22] Rushful, I feel like it might be a safe bet. But&nbsp; that wraps up our episode 2 breakdown of Lanterns.&nbsp;&nbsp; And though I wasn't fully sold on the episode&nbsp; last week, I really enjoyed this one. I love the&nbsp;&nbsp;
[48:36] new factions coming in, and pacing wise, this is&nbsp; kind of what I wanted from last week. coming from&nbsp;&nbsp; a comic book nerd perspective as well. I love all&nbsp; the little details and references that the show is&nbsp;&nbsp; throwing out there to hint what we might be seeing&nbsp; moving forward. I know it's my job and all that as&nbsp;&nbsp;
[48:50] well uh to point this stuff out, but I was really&nbsp; surprised while going through the episodes at how&nbsp;&nbsp; many references and story lines out there that&nbsp; they're kind of stitching together here. I mean,&nbsp;&nbsp; we're only two episodes in and we've got like five&nbsp; theories going already, but that's what makes it&nbsp;&nbsp;
[49:04] fun, isn't it? I am a little disappointed that&nbsp; we didn't get at least one scene in 2026, though,&nbsp;&nbsp; especially since Yeah. Last week's cliffhanger was&nbsp; such a massive moment. All in all though, I'm way&nbsp;&nbsp; more on board with the show than I was last week.&nbsp; And I'd love to hear if this has done the same&nbsp;&nbsp;
