The hosts discuss potential Marvel and Star Wars reveals, including trailers for Vision Quest, Ahsoka season 2, and X-Men '97, while reacting to news as it breaks. The stream also features commentary on industry trends, AI in filmmaking, and fan reactions.

### Key Points

- **Disney Upfront Overview** [00:07] — The upfront is Disney's annual presentation to advertisers, showcasing upcoming projects. The stream covers Marvel and Star Wars announcements, including potential trailers for Vision Quest, Ahsoka season 2, and X-Men '97.
- **Anticipated Announcements** [01:25] — The hosts hope for trailers for Vision Quest and Ahsoka season 2, noting that X-Men '97 is debuting at Tribeca Film Festival. They speculate on release dates and the lack of Ahsoka news on May the 4th.

- **AI in Filmmaking Debate** [08:48] — The hosts criticize AI-generated content in fan films and express concerns about Disney using AI to replace human workers, citing layoffs in the Vizdev team. They call for fans to call out bad AI art.
- **Ahsoka's Screen Time Record** [13:49] — Ahsoka Tano is the Star Wars character with the most screen time across all media, yet there are still gaps in her timeline. The hosts discuss the challenges of maintaining coherence in expanded universe.
- **Rise of Skywalker Production Issues** [17:29] — The hosts reveal that 'Somehow Palpatine returned' was a reshoot, and Adam Driver recorded 'You're a Palpatine' in a closet. They criticize the lack of planning in the sequel trilogy.
- **Disney AI and Layoffs** [22:57] — The hosts discuss Disney's layoffs of the Vizdev team and speculation that AI will replace human artists. They note that Bob Iger, not Josh D'Amaro, was responsible for the layoffs.
- **X-Men '97 Success** [26:37] — The hosts praise X-Men '97 for capturing the original series' energy while creating something new. They highlight the risk of killing Gambit and the show's emotional impact.
- **Acolyte Season 2 Hopes** [31:13] — Despite a surge in popularity post-Maul, the hosts are pessimistic about Acolyte season 2 due to Disney's quick cancellation. They note that creator Leslye Headland planned for two seasons.
- **Super Bowl on ESPN** [39:25] — Disney announced that the Super Bowl and Monday Night Football will air on ABC and ESPN in 2027, marking ESPN's first Super Bowl broadcast. The hosts discuss the shift to streaming.
- **Ahsoka Season 2 Delayed** [54:17] — Sigourney Weaver introduced Rosario Dawson at the upfront, but Ahsoka season 2 has been delayed to early 2027. The hosts express disappointment and speculate on reasons.
- **Vision Quest Release Date** [59:58] — Vision Quest is set to premiere on Disney+ on October 14th. The hosts describe the trailer, which shows Vision trying to relearn his humanity, with James Spader returning as Ultron.
- **Mandalorian Movie Uncertainty** [01:10:06] — Rumors suggest Disney may cancel Mandalorian season 4 in favor of the Mandalorian & Grogu movie. The hosts worry about the future of Star Wars TV and the Dave Filoni crossover film.
- **Mace Windu Survival Debate** [01:33:30] — The hosts debate whether Mace Windu survived Order 66. One host suggests he could be kept alive like 'deer piss' to attract Jedi, while others argue he likely died from the fall.
- **Al Capone's Vault Analogy** [01:41:27] — The host compares the live stream to Geraldo Rivera's Al Capone's vault special, where a highly anticipated reveal turned out to be nothing. This reflects the lack of major announcements at the upfront.

### Conclusion

The Disney Upfront yielded few major surprises, with Vision Quest's October release date being the biggest news. The hosts expressed disappointment over the lack of trailers for Ahsoka season 2 and X-Men '97, but remain optimistic about future projects.

## Transcript

notice we're a little bit later today than normal. We normally go on at 2:00. Today we're going on at 4:00 cuz starting right now at the Javit Center and all Disney is taking the stage to do their
annual upfront presentation. Now, here's what an upfront is and here's the reason we're talking to you guys right now. An upfront is basically like Disney corporate going on stage and saying, "Here's what we're doing this year." I
for this kind of thing. They have the earnings call and D23 and all the different conventions we cover, but the upfront's really important because it is speaking directly to the TV people, the movie people, the network people, all
They're trying to get them hyped for what's coming out Disney this year. And it is a big year for Disney this year. It's a big It's already been a big Disney Plus year with Marvel shows like Daredevil Born Again. Wonderman was a
big surprise hit for them, but we've also got a ton of other Marvel and Star Wars shows this year that we are waiting for publicly released trailers and official announcements for instance. We know that X-Men 97 is going to debut at
the Tribeca Film Festival, which is really cool, but we don't know when the release date is. And if it's going to release next month, that probably means we're going to have a trailer tonight. And when we get that trailer, we are
guest that I'm going to introduce in just a second. And maybe we'll have more surprise guests pop in along the way. It's an open stream to our friends. Um, the other ones we're hoping for are Vision Quest and I think we're going to
get an Ahsoka announcement. It was weird to me that we did not get an announcement about Ahsoka season 2 or release date at least on May the 4th. I they don't want to steal focus from the mall finale. But now it's like imminent.
And I think Star Wars, you know, they have the Mandalorian and Grou coming up, but they got to do something on Disney Plus to say, "Yes, this is still a Wars you should be excited about, even if they are going to do way fewer Star
Wars shows a year." So, that's where we're at. I uh we don't have anybody on friends at Discussing Film and other various sites on the Twitters and stuff that we are going to be like uh refreshing and seeing what's going on at
will hear news and you get to hear us talk about it. So, I should introduce the uh the panel that we have here today, the panel of experts. We have you break, Mr. Tommy Betold. What's up, Tommy?
>> Janet, it's after 4 o'clock. You know, I work from 10:30 to 11:45 each day. So, now. >> Ryan, I'm so sorry about that. I
>> pretty clear that I was on break now. In fact, I was concluded with my day, but I guess some people in the corporate world just don't respect boundaries. >> Well, you know what? People in the corporate world respect very little. I
headlines today with these knuckleheads in Washington DC and the various things that they're up to, but I'm telling you man, it's just not right. It's just not >> I get it. By the way, I'm not wearing pants right now and that's my cont. And
you shouldn't have to. You shouldn't have to because you are on break, my friend. And that is just how it is. So, doing a little quick thing in the something up for the stream. As always, I want to remind you guys that super
chats are encouraged, but of course, not required. We're going to be checking in with our super chats and our other fans as we go along. And now, you know her as here and makes the most astute observations on all things Marvel, Star
observations on all things Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, etc. We have the woman who doesn't have a nickname yet, Liz Dean. What's going on, Liz? >> Hi. I did not know that about X-Men, but I'm gonna be on the ground covering
>> No way. >> Yes. >> Um, let me ask you a question before we we dive into like Well, because there's no news yet. Liz, we don't know each other that well, right? Like, we're
write scripts, you come on here every once every few weeks. What was your um personal experience with the original X-Men the animated series and with like X-Men and with X-Men 97?
>> You know what? I will admit to not being super up to speed on X-Men because the movie scared me when I was a kid and ever since then I've been a pretty slow roller with >> it's it's not it's it's the when I was a
kid that really hurt me there. every time you guys come on like Colton being time you guys come on like Colton being like I was nine when the prequels came like I was nine when the prequels came out. I just want to Oh, man. So, what do
you mean they scared you? Which what what scared you? >> I don't even remember. It was that and Ivan Ooze. Those two >> I I know what scared you. It's when the guy turned into water and disappeared.
That it was like the human man just melted away into water. That scared me. melted away into water. That scared me. And I was 49 when those movies come out. Yeah, Tommy's actually older than Stan Lee. He just hides it. Really?
>> Greetings, true believers. >> So, wait, you're talking about the movie, right? Not the cartoon. >> I'm right. That is horrifying when Robert Kelly like melts. And not when he melts like on the beach, but when he
because I didn't even plug this on purpose. Tomorrow, we are going to be watching the X-Men live right right here. This is part of our uh member package. If you're a $5 member, then you get like these monthly monthly watch
for members, it's for everybody. So, what we're going to do is we're going to we're going to tell everybody we have a countdown timer and we're like 5 3 4 3 2 And then when it hits zero, we're all going to hit uh play on X-Men on
whatever medium you have. You know, if you have it on your computer, you can do a PIP. If you want to do it on Disney Plus or another streaming service that going to watch X-Men together. We've never done this before. I know a lot
about the movie. I'm looking forward to being obnoxious and saying things really came out. Like I remember my best friend turning to me and going, "He called him Bub. Wolverine said Bub." That's all we wanted at that point was that level of
come. >> So you're telling me not much on the X-Men? I asked a question and then I told you a story and see I remember really well that day because Yeah. Anyways, I love that movie. I can't wait
>> Yeah, I'll have to check that out tomorrow. I'll be watching along. >> So, you didn't watch X-Men 97? >> I did not. >> Oh, okay. Interesting. Interesting. Um I'm also Let's see. I'm checking here.
I'm looking at new post notifications and nope, nothing yet. They've just um they have a red carpet at the Disney upfront and Tom Hiddston's there >> on the blue carpet actually >> and um I don't know, that's interesting.
We're definitely not getting a Loki season 3, but he is confirmed to be in Doomsday. We just did a video where I kind of laid out a couple theories on Doomsday. My favorite was that I mean, just at some point, there's two things I
what you if you guys have anything. I want to see him ride a jet ski with and use the hammer. >> Yeah. >> What do you guys think about that? >> The jet ski thing is so it's so person
deeply personal to me, Ryan. I I feel like there's been I I think spanning two illustrious YouTube channels, I've probably spent a combined 500 hours him and Owen Wilson to ride on that jet ski together. And when it happens, it's
like if when the Buffalo Bills finally win the Super Bowl, I won't know what to do. It'll it'll be like a chapter in my life has closed and I will lose a part of my identity and I'll be forced to become obsessed about something else
like Ant-Man flying up Thanos's ass or something like that. That'll be my new cross to bear. >> Um, it's a little late for him to fly up Thanos's ass, but this is the multiverse saga. I guess anything can happen,
>> Um, >> it it's funny. So, yeah, you talk about on. And I don't know if you ever saw the show Eastbound and Down, but there's an important scene in that when like Kenny Powers played by um I'll forget his
>> Danny McBride. Thank you. Where Danny McBride's on a jet ski. He's got a woman pictured. Yes, I want it to be set to the song Black Betty. >> That is so funny because every time I have imagined that scene, it is just the
scene from Eastbound and Down, but with those characters instead of Kenny Powers and his lovely gal. That is hilarious. I think, >> okay, look, AI is evil, right? AI generated video is evil. However, I do
think that there's like some itches that can only be scratched by pouring several million gallons of water into your computer. metaphorically. I think you that for us. >> In fact, I'll go a step further. I
believe AI should be relegated to only satisfying the whims of middle-aged men that don't have, you know, creative means to make things. I think we need to take it out of film making in general, take it out of music, take it out of of
any sort of art medium and just become a place where we can kind of babysit insane men in their 40s like myself that need so much supervision and yet society won't relegate them to the prisons we so desperately crave and belong in.
>> That's a that's that's a rant and a half. You know, speaking of AI video, just while we're looking for Twitter, um this platform we're on right now, I was on YouTube and I saw a fan film Ahsoka
tells Luke Skywalker about Ord, you know, how that's cool. That's I remember fan films, how much fun those are. Like Troops, the cops parody where these nerds made their own strooper armor and went down the desert. I was like, that'd
know? And I clicked on it and I thought, okay, there's going to be some. It was just AI and it was like an AI Mark Hamill voice but it wasn't matching correctly. It was, you know, like like like an old Godzilla movie, you know,
of it. I was so disappointed and now I think we should make it. Liz, how's your Ahsoka cosplay? >> Uh, so I actually Philly Fan Expo is coming up and I did an Ahsoka cosplay last year. So,
>> we didn't plan this. I'm ready to go. But I am so frustrated with Ahsoka and really with The Book of Boba Fett for not having any sort of
scene involving an actual conversation. First of all, we didn't get to see Luke and Ahsoka meet each other. They already knew each other by the time we saw that. >> Yeah, >> right. Of course. So frustrating. She
says so much like your father. That's like the one thing we get. Come on. That is such a relationship. H drives me nuts. That >> and she and when she said you're like your father, she was he wasn't even like
do this and she copied it the arm cross. I think he could have at least been >> Yeah. >> I I I still I'm hung up on it should be Ashley Xeen. I don't know why they went another way with it, but Roserio
Dawson's great. I just don't think she has that Ahsoka would play that aside from the voice on the show Ahsoka which hopefully we get a trailer for tonight we it would have felt continuous with her the whole time right but I
don't know maybe not maybe not >> there's some bad blood about that too I bring it to light but I've always gotten the sense that behind the scenes that was not a pleasant conversation >> I have heard um and this is not direct
from anyone who matters this is like a friend of a friend of a friend and it's on Reddit or whatever. I heard that at one point the plan was to do episodes 10 through 12 about Ahsoka. >> And I don't know like how up on rebels
everybody is. I know you are Liz, but the show Rebels, you know, Ahsoka Tano, uh Ezra goes through this portal in time. He rescues her. He pulls her out time. He rescues her. He pulls her out and then um instead of her returning
like her her going to like the future, right? like after the war. Um, which every time I say that I think of Hamilton after the war and if instead of doing that, she just like exits at the same point before the war. So like where
was she during the original trilogy? It's really weird what they've done to It's really weird what they've done to and with that character over the years. >> I sorry. >> No, go ahead. Go ahead.
>> No, I I I agree. And I think that, you know, one of the the blessings and curses of modern media is that we have so much Star Wars, but like one of the difficulties is they have to try to keep things coherent and they have to try to,
have the timelines make sense, but you just end up with these large gaps where it's like, where was this character? And it can be told in later comic books, but that's on the assumption that fans that crave that those answers will read the
anybody. And >> I don't know. I I don't have an optimistic thing on this, but I do I feel the pain of people that are like, I want to know why this didn't happen. And yet I I also see the futility in like
chasing those answers because ultimately it would be great if we could have it would be great if we could have Ahsokaano's entire timeline told in feature film quality with you know film actors but more than likely you know
it's you're going to have to be extra curious to get the answers you want and of that sort. What's really interesting about that, too, is Ahsoka is actually the Star Wars character with the most screen time in
the entire franchise. >> Oh, I did not know that. I can believe it, though. >> And still still huge gaps. Who knows >> So, wait, that that's because she's featured in more episodes of the Clone
Rebels. Is that why are we counting? for 12 minutes in a new hopes. She does. He doesn't have that much screen time in the >> Yeah. Rebels, Tales of the Jedi, Ahsoka.
>> And a lot of people don't know who she is, which is also interesting. That's levels to canon. There's like movie cannon, right? There's TV cannon where seen every TV show if they go to a movie, but you expect that everybody's
seen a movie and seen the TV shows. And I always think the less visual, the less it counts. So, like after after I would say TV, it's probably video games and then comics and then maybe you're getting into novels and then maybe just
had one Ahsoka audio novel that was rewritten. I don't know. I don't some of the great stories they've done in the comics and adapt them into animated form. Like go ahead and just do the time between, you know, Empire and
New Hope. And I I think there's precedent at Disney now with these um about some Star Wars special presentations? We have the Marvel, we have Werewolf by Night, now Punisher and the Guardians Christmas special.
>> Who would argue about some, you know, oneshot Ahsoka, you know, 45 minute to 50 minute presentations? Not me. I wouldn't argue. >> We've never really talked about it. Did you like the show Ahsoka season one?
>> It was that for me? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> I did. I don't shoot the messenger. I did because I'm a 90s kid and if you put Hayden Christensen in anything, I'm going to watch it. Honestly, the fan service worked on me. I I understand the
>> I'm glad there's Look, I'm not the kind of Star Wars fan who's going to something, I go, well, you're wrong for liking that. That's that's not like my Even if somebody likes I talked to somebody once who um like a civilian you
this who said they loved Rise of Skywalker and they thought it was the best one and I was like like wait seriously what the hell are you actually great the Emperor was back and there was a big fight at the end people riding
horses and sometimes you don't have to overthink this on the level that we do. The movie made a ton of money. It it apparently ruined the company Bad Robot but it made a ton of money. Yeah, we haven't talked about that on here. Isn't
>> Bad Robot used to be like they had they were everywhere, movies, TV shows, and maybe due to Abrams wanting to cut back but and move to New York, but they just they have anything really major in production right now.
as well. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. All My Friends Lost. Um I don't remember. He did Felicity, but I don't remember if that was a Bad Robot joint. But also like uh the Star Trek movies, Mission Impossible, like
everything he did, Cloverfield, all that stuff was through Bad Robot. And essentially, episode nine, super eight, episode 9 was essentially um farmed out Lucasfell. It was made by Bad Robot. So, they didn't have much like oversight in
it from what I've heard, which frankly makes a lot of sense. one of the two of them. I feel like there was just such a tugof-war happening that that was in part the problem. Like Abrams just wanted to go
back to what he was going to do in the first place. >> Well, but he wasn't going to do that in the first place. Like, okay, Daisy the first place. Like, okay, Daisy Ridley has said that it changed on set
Palpatine might be your grandpa, he might not. And then Oscar Isaac on a um shoot, what was the podcast he was on recently? He said that was a re-shoot.
>> "Yeah, somehow Palpatine returned was a re-shoot because they didn't explain sad confused. And Adam Driver had already said that he recorded the line, "You're a Palpatine." Oh god. In a closet in a Broadway
is just mind-blowing to me. What an unforced error. >> Oh, Josh Dear is on stage, which is cool. They have started. >> Nice. >> Very cool. Um, again, we don't have like
of what they're announcing and what other journalists are covering, but that's okay. It is weird they didn't release more red carpet photos yet, but press release the next day when those happen.
>> Um, of the potential things that are happening today, again, like I said, seen trailers for Vision Quest and X-Men 97 at Comic- Con, but I don't remember them at all. Um, what are you guys most excited about? everything that we could
have pop up. >> I'm so excited for Vision Quest. I just love uh that we're getting all of those. Ironically, after my AI diet tribe, the Ironically, after my AI diet tribe, the the Marvel encapsulated AI uh synthesoid
the Marvel encapsulated AI uh synthesoid hybrid creatures of mass intelligence uh all gathered in one one show is very exciting for me. I just think it's if it is the natural conclusion to Wanda Vision Agatha all along and then Vision
Quest. I I just I loved both of those shows and I'm excited to have a third of that, you know, varietal. So, that's the one I'm the most hyped about. >> Agatha was such a great surprise, man. I I just adored that show. That was like a
what was going to happen. And the twist genuinely got me. It was really cool. I am such a baby about weekly releases because I've gotten so used to binge watching at this point. But that was one of the few shows recently where I was so
happy it was a weekly release because every week like the mindmelding that would happen online after each episode. >> So fun. I love that show. I think Wanda >> So fun. I love that show. I think Wanda Division is the best MCU show that we've
self-contained and creative. I absolutely loved it and it's why I hate Multiverse of Madness as well. But I'm definitely most excited for Vision >> I mean, Multiverse of Madness, if you remove if Wanda was just a character,
it'd be fine. But it really didn't do her justice at all. Uh, as a Sam Ramy >> But I I'm trying to think, do I agree with you about that? Um, there have been so many of those shows. Um, it's got to come between that,
Wonderman. I won't count animated because I thought E of Wakanda was also Loki >> and X and X-Men 97, but you know, you're not a part of that conversation apparently. Um, it's up there for me.
It's it's got to be top three in between Wonderman, X-Men 97, and W division. Probably W Division probably is my favorite. >> It was really special. I mean, just I have such personal fond memories of that
have such personal fond memories of that show because um we were just it we didn't expect the views to be that big. So for us to go from this channel video essay or we'd cover the Mandalorian for a few weeks out of the
year to go from that to like oh my god every week is like Avengers Endgame numbers for us. And it's how I met most of the people I work with. It's how I right now. like a lot of you guys probably saw us for the first time in
that period on our live and plus it was COVID so I really felt like I was outside of my house. So I just have really special memories of that and also up at 3:00 a.m. >> and start working on those videos and
like re-watch episodes of the Dick Van Dyke show in order to cover it. Zeus Fleming gave us three Canadian dollars and said Tom actually gave us $2.79. I that or not. says, "Tommy, let's have a Vikings versus Bills Super Bowl."
>> Oh, I'd be okay with that as long as the Bills are there. Both of the winless Super Bowl teams. Both teams never have won, I believe. >> Neither have the Bengals, my friend. >> And we've been thrice. And it was tough.
>> I mean, dude, the Bills went like what, four years in a row in the 90s. >> Yeah. >> Have you seen the movie Buffalo 66? The >> Yes. >> Yeah. Great film. Yes,
>> great film. All right, no news yet. At least not according to Twitter and all they put out, but Josh Dearro is on stage apparently making announcements, hyping up the shareholders. I got to tell you, so far this Dearo cat, not a
fan. Not a fan. >> Well, he fired the entire Marvel Vizdev team, including Ryan Mindering. No, my dear my forget how to pronounce his last Marvel, right? Like if you look at the uh the art of books, they're basically
books written and drawn by him. >> And you know, this is how they achieved which maybe isn't great for every project. people, including the boss, just finished. And I got to think it's
because they're going to use AI. >> I have so much respect for Evangelene Lily, though, because she went in on Disney. Disney. Yeah. She really was not holding back.
Well, it seems like, you know, all of the hubbhub about the, you know, Disney AI deal kind of collapsing under Sora being shut down was actually a little bit of smoke and mirrors of like, well, we're actually just reappropriating this
money to replace human workers. We won't have we're not going to touch your gorgeous creatives and, you know, like we're not or your your actors or going to do anyway. Those were they were all going to be animated characters with
Sar to be fair. But it's like that was the fear, right? was like the the can of characters and pretty soon we'll be you know live action people will be recreated with user generated AI but now it's just like no we've taken it from
the front pages and we're burying it in the in in the uh back pages of variety that like yeah pretty soon all of these like you know graphic effects are going to be done with AI and we'll lose just a little more soul in our our projects and
I don't mean to be sad but >> we do have a commenter though who's was not Josh Dearro who fired them. It was Bob Iger who did that. The layoffs were planned long before Josh was chosen to replace Bob Iger. I don't like how
you're misinformed and are now lying. Well, look, you can't lie. >> Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Uh, here's the thing. You can tell me the layoffs are balance sheet or whatever, but Bob Iger wasn't president or CEO when it
happened. So, there you go. But yeah, thank you for the information. I do appreciate it and we're not lying. I don't lie on here. Um, >> but regard and we have no proof that they're replacing them with AI. We we
speculation at this point. But it you got to think like are they going to farm let's play devil's advocate. If they farm out all that visv work to different houses across town, it's going to be shitty because you're talking about
not talking to each other. Nothing looks like it's in the same universe anymore. It just it stinks to me. That's all. And Ryan, if I may, can I appeal to the Uh, all of our viewers out there. >> Oh, I think we already are. No, we've
We brought >> No, but I I really want my poison people. My fellow poison. >> Listen, you do a great job complaining on X and other platforms every day about castings and character decisions. Use
some of that evil for positive here and call out the bad AI art in these movies. When you notice something that you believe was created by AI, spend your time writing thousands of words about how shitty that looks rather than, you
know, assailing the appearance of an actor or actress who has aged. Use some of that twisted darkness in your hearts to call out subpar artificial intelligent created art. Do that. take that and maybe you'll find that some of
that poison will spread onto others and will create a world full of poison AI haters, which is what I dream of. >> You know, though, I've never uh been on the internet and seen anybody I mean, you'll get like one person who's like,
"Oh man, Hollywood's cooked. Look at this video of Tom Cruz and Brad Pitt arm >> Right. Right. >> Um but other than that, most people um Oh, actually, yeah, Tommy is AI. A lot of people are asking if you're AI. built
prototype's finally ready and we launch a better job. Why is this the husk? Do of my favorite gags in Rick and Morty season one when he builds a robot to go get him butter and he says, "What is my purpose? You get butter. Oh my god."
It's one of my all-time favorite. It's like so it says so much about life in just three sentences. It's like an Asop fable but for the modern times. Um I gotta tell you, I thought X-Men 97 Let me just move over there real quick. I
had the privilege last year at New Jersey Comic- Con to host a panel of most of the X-Men 97 cast and it was awesome and I I just thought that show um that season 1 I expected you know like a continuation of X-Men. I you know
I didn't think it would be that big but like it got me so hard man. Remember it is probably the best You know what Liz I think I'll say this W division best show. remember it. Best episode of a Marvel TV show. I think whether you saw
the original or not, it's just heart-wrenching and it's animated. I I don't I don't think they've topped it yet. But that show I'm really looking forward to. Apparently Bo Deio, who I've heard is was just really difficult to
work with apart from all the other stuff that has come out about him. He wrote season two before he got fired. And then you know him, he's very vocal on Twitter and he was talking about how Marvel's rewriting his scripts. They hired the
guy who was showrunner of What If season 3 to take over the show. I don't even know if that's true, by the way. This is just what he was saying at the time. And I'm curious um what that season's going to look like. Tommy, what were your
thoughts on it? >> I loved X-Men 97 for this for similar reasons. I, you know, I kind of was raised on the '9s animated Marvel series, Spider-Man and X-Men specifically, and, you know, it did
capture the the energy and feeling that those shows brought to me, but it created something entirely new. like bringing Morph back and having him as that iterate or them I'm sorry as that iteration uh was I think very creative
and and very like >> they made that character interesting and you know not just kind of a storyline the way the character was used in the previous cartoon. Uh, and yeah, that that that the feeling that remember it
gave >> I think most Marvel fans is just it was it was shocking in its way like the way it went down for me. It was shocking it went down for me. It was shocking anyway. I didn't you know the like the
anything but it's been out for >> Yeah. I mean, that's the thing. It came point, but >> Killing Gambit. I mean, he's probably ever really dies in these things, but
like true that was that was a huge that was a gamble to take. It's a very popular character that that wasn't in the last what, three episodes, sequence. >> No, no, no, no. Gambit. Yeah, Gambit
don't think, except for a dream sequence. Remember it was episode five, >> right? So, I mean, I that's a big risk to take and I mean I I just thought that overall it I was so excited that we were getting more. It was one of those things
going to be one season or it seems like it's going to be one season, I try to savor it and I don't mind the weekly release because it's like all right, as much as I want them to be bingeable, I it's okay to get this once a week. But
season two pretty immediately, if not already announced when they came out, I was like, oh, this is great. They're creating something that is a reminder. It it kind of did what Star Wars tried to do with the sequels. Like it it
captured the original energy, but it gave us something new and interesting. It gave the characters new and interesting places to go. Introduced >> new, you know, ele new elements to the animated series. Not new elements to to
the X-Men, you know, cannon. But yeah, I just I've been looking forward to this. I'm very excited that it's coming back. That's so interesting because I had a similar experience with Maul Shadow Lord because they announced season two before
all of season one was out. And so that I think that it it decreases the level of intensity of wanting them to get it totally totally right because you know more is coming. Um, and I was really surprised they did that with Maul
considering, you know, Star Wars is pretty fickle in terms of what's actually going to come out that they say is going to come out, but they seem >> They seem >> And, you know, and I always say props to
Kathleen Kennedy for just absolutely laying it all out there in her exit like, look, you know, it's become a joke. All this Star Wars wasn't liked the scripts that were submitted and Disney didn't pull the trigger. Um,
chat here that's an interesting question I want to throw at you guys. So, Savant gave us $5 and said, "Odds Acolyte season 2 since it's had a surge in popularity post mall. Love you folks. Thanks for all you do." Heart emoji. Um,
>> That is true. Yeah, I know. I tried to read it as straight lace as possible. I was like, "What if I was the newscaster and our dipsh?" and our dipsh?" Um, so that is interesting. He's or
they're right that um although I can't imagine a woman would choose the name Savant. Um they are right though. I was trying to be like gender neutral but I'm like it's probably a guy. Um that that show has surged in
the top streamers and list. Do you remember the numbers of where it's like >> I don't remember the exact numbers but I I've seen a lot of discourse about that show having a surge which has been really interesting. I also didn't did
the the super chat said it was tied to to Maul specifically. to Maul specifically. >> Uh well, since it surge in popularity, I that Maul is done, do you think we could ever get or maybe because Maul is f, you
Sith Lord? I don't know. >> I was curious. I mean, my hopes are low just because Disney killed it so quickly. I was shocked, honestly, byly
quickly. I was shocked, honestly, byly they shut that down. Um, between Kathleen Kennedy and Bob Iger, like screaming argument. She even, you you have to when you have creatives come in your door, they have to be able to
trust you. And she told Leslie Hedland, you're getting two seasons. So Leslie Hedland wrote, I mean, created the show based on two seasons. You know, you she based on two seasons. You know, you she did half a show. And um, again, I've I
expensive, etc. But I mean, come on, man. Darth Pllegus was in the damn thing. They're clearly going to set up the prophecy and like it's a prequel to episode one. I would love for them to go back and finish that. But based on to
spending that they're doing at Disney Plus where like they're basically saying, look, if it's Star Wars, it's got to be on it's got to be in the theaters or animation. Seems like where they're going. That's why I'm I'm
rooting so hard for Ahsoka season 2 because I think Star Wars TV has its place. I think it's a really cool like subcategory to the movies. The problem is, and the spirit of Colton Auburn is moving through me right now, they took
a show. >> I was going to say probably the two just based on their plot descriptions that that make the most sense for TV are Skeleton Crew or and uh and and The Acolyte, right? Like that those shows
you you like hear their story lines, you're like, "Those should be on TV." Like they make it makes sense. there's not like huge characters other than cameos that like tie them to tether them to the movies. So, you don't run that.
You know, one of the more distracting things for me about Obi-Wan Kenobi was Like, how the people were seeing the characters were seeing it's like, how is this not on the big screen right now? And like, you know, the story maybe
didn't land in a way that would have made a very satisfying movie, but like I I feel like the acolyte thing is something that it's going to eternally should get a season two. I thought it should get a season two when it came
out. I I thought it was maligned. You know, some of the criticism was certainly valid, but I also think that it was one of the more poisonously, and I hate to repeat that word, reviewbombed shows. And like those reviews don't
ultimately matter, but they they infect public opinion on things and they make people think that just because a couple people are saying just absolutely asinine that that's it's the way Neielson ratings work. One person
and they count it for a 100,000. One person writes a dumbass tweet and they it's like I don't really think people hated it that much. I just don't I don't believe I don't buy it. I think it was I think that there are some, you know,
story and like some of the way it tied into the lore of Star Wars and that's that's okay. But like a lot of the criticism when you read it, it was just you're being misogynistic for clicks or you're being homophobic for clicks and I
think it it hurts. >> No, not fine. I mean, >> There's money in gatekeeping. I know what you mean. Think about the but remember like when people were trying to gatekeep Kayatti Mundy when they were
like well actually according to the Wikipedia entry his species would not have been alive at the time of like who gives a man you're talking about and anyone who actually knows Wikipedia I can't believe it's going to it's come
to this there's two tabs on Wikipedia there's the old can the old legends lore and then there's the canon lore and if you don't it it happens all the time where they will just take something from the old because Wikipedia is also not
a fan thing, right? And they'll take something that that was, you know, legends, it'll automatically go to canon and something and they just the editor side editors go in and they add that they change it. It's not a big deal. But
the fact that like this was a point of contention and it became an actual thing that people argued about grown people, adults, like not study hall me in junior would have cared and argued at this point. Uh, we've got some interesting
facts coming in here. See, Alexander Wilson for $5. By the way, I appreciate that the commenters are because I I'm trying to look at the news and I'm not I usually do. So, thank you commenters for keeping us informed here.
streaming Star Wars viewership report? No sequel trilogy solo and no TV shows except for andor appeared on the most viewed. Um, I did see that, but I thought that under like most hours acolyte had gotten in there or like was
ticking up the the viewership. I could be wrong about that, but I'm almost that. I didn't know we were going to talk about Acolyte until somebody researched. Ricky X Taylor also gave us five bucks and said, "Ob- season 2 old
Assange, and Quinnland backstory going into modern day fights with an angered Boba Fett climbing uh climbing. It says climbing to bounty hunt." I don't know what that's supposed to mean. That's a whole lot of IP thrown into one show. I
I don't know why you would do Obi-Wan season 2. I think the story's I think talking to Qui-Gon. What do you guys think? >> I want Quinnland. that whoever said that you're my kind of person because I want
>> um that novel Dark Disciple. This is a great example what I was talking about earlier. Is one of the best Star Wars novels I've ever read. It is one of the few actual good Star Wars love stories I that I've read. I know there's other
good ones out there I've heard about but I haven't read. Um but it's phenomenal arc and that's another thing I would like to see even though it's a novel. Even though Maul's son of Datamir became a comic book, go back turn them into
a comic book, go back turn them into Clone Wars episodes. Why not? You know, >> it's so interesting, too. And obviously, I'm I'm going to talk about Anakin any chance I get. But I think it is so interesting that in that storyline, the
Jedi Council, Mace Wendu in particular, hires Assange Ventress as an assassin to take out Count Dooku. And I think that blurs the lines of what the Jedi were meant to do so much that it's just another factor in that complexity
they're constantly adding. Um, and it's really interesting because Mace Windows Meanwhile, Anakin's like, I shouldn't have done that when he decapitates him. So, it's really an interesting story to me.
that is a bigger point of contention within the book, but it for me it got you're absolutely right. And the other the novel Dark Disciple, you would have no idea what the hell was going on with
Underworld. >> So, you might as well go ahead and adapt that. It It's a great story. Um, we do have a little bit, they started to do presentations on stage, so Josh Deo talked first. He talked to the, you
are at the upfronts. They're trying to this it's mostly a presentation for advertisers. So, he like gave a message straight to them uh to get them excited about Disney things um that are happening. and he talked about how
you, you know, we've got a hundred years worth of trust. Then they announced the Super Bowl and Monday Night Football are coming to as ABC and ESPN in 2027, >> which is pretty cool. Has ESPN ever had the Super Bowl before? Is that a new
>> I I'm trying to remember because it it usually it used to bounce between CBS, usually it used to bounce between CBS, NBC, and Fox, but I don't know. I I mean I I can't I can't answer with any certainty.
>> Well, yeah, it was always on network TV and then a lot of people I mean it was move over to streaming. Like my dad still doesn't like that. >> Well, and and you know ESPN, it's the network's first ever Super Bowl
broadcast. But the thing ESPN kind of did smartly because it it didn't make started >> simoc casting the games on ABC as well that were on ESPN. So, interesting, >> which I think was really smart, but they
didn't really make a big deal about it. They still advertised Monday Night Football as an ESPN product, but it's like for people like our dads and and you know, uncles and and aunts who refuse to fully adopt the streaming
lifestyle, they can watch it on ABC. So, it says this is the first ever Super Bowl broadcast for the network. So that will be >> I mean I to that point to bring it back around to stuff I care more about. Um I
still think they should be taking everything they put on Disney Plus and >> They did it they didn't do it simultaneously but they did they did rerun Andor on ABC if I'm not mistaken. >> Yeah. ABC Family though, wasn't it? I
>> Yeah. Or Free Form or whatever. >> Freeform I think you mean. But >> No, I I don't know why they don't do that especially leading up. Okay. So like Ms. Marvel, right? Mis Marvel came out, had a, you know, small but
it was kind of overshadowed because it released the exact same time in the same released the exact same time in the same day as as Obi-Wan. Then when I thought during the summer when typically network TV has an empty schedule, why not run it
>> Run it in one night. do a Marvel Mis Marvel movie marathon or something like leading up to the Marvels or run it every once every night of the week uh with a two-hour finale at the end or you know whatever. I I just don't know why
they don't do that. If I were a saleserson uh at a network and suddenly corporate told me, "Hey, guess what? You get to sell a Star Wars show and Luke Skywalker shows up at the end of it. The hell seriously? I get to Oh my god.
Yeah, that's so much extra money because studios used to have this. used to have a pipeline where a movie would come out in theaters, they'd make money on it. on like pay-per-view, they'd make money on it. It would come out on DVD or
cable TV, and it would run on network TV. And it was like every single step of the way they got paid, which meant that everybody got paid all the way up. And now it just goes on streaming and we consider it free and it's on the
internet. Um, a little bit more NFL news and other news. Um they're doing a Hulu series called The Land. >> And The Banana Bowl is also going to be um on Disney Plus. >> So, it's more of the sports moving to
streaming. >> The Land is uh from Dan uh Fogelman, who >> Really? >> It's his new show. It's about the Cleveland Browns. Yes. >> Is it fictional or a documentary?
>> Yes. It's a fictional show about uh a couple of characters on the Browns. "Oh, that's pretty cool." >> It's a It's like a sports drama from the from the minds of This Is Us.
from the minds of This Is Us. >> I used to love um the uh the show Coach. >> Because this show was probably cancelled before you were born, but it was it was >> Uh let's see. >> One of my big regrets is they were going
to reboot coach and they cast it and they did like a they filmed the pilot the coach. Not reboot, but like you know how shows come back 20 years later with that. They were going to do the version of that with coach and I was very
>> Oh, that'd be fun. I mean, at the end of the show, he was like an NFL coach and Breakers, but at the end end of the show, he went back to the Minnesota back to. >> Oh, see, I didn't watch to the end. I
yeah, I love the show before then. It was great. Um, hi Liz. Listen, I'm Philly, so the my extent of my sports knowledge is Goirds. >> Yay. Okay. All right. Go Birds.
>> Go Birds. That's good. >> Z Fleming gave us 14 Canadian dollars Academy are both canceled by Broflakes. Um >> Oh, I don't >> I do too, but I Okay, so I don't Okay,
again, I'm talking like total hearsay here. um on Redletter Media, they were Letter Media. So, anytime they have a chance to like badmouth Star Trek, they'll do it. Um Mike, who's the main host over there and owner or whatever,
host over there and owner or whatever, said he he knows somebody at Paramount who told him that Starfleet Academy season 1 had 400,000 viewers >> total. Now, if he's right, so that's 40,000 people initially watching it per
episode. So, I don't blame them for cancing it then. Um, but I I think Paramount just doesn't want to do TV Star Trek. I think they just want to do movies and probably because the owners never watch TV Star Trek. I Star Trek
works better on a television format as well. I've always I mean, it's way better than the movies, I think, as far as the body of work. And Alexander Wilson gave us $5 and said, "Also, the 2025 Nelson streaming report said that
Rogue One was the most watched Disney Star Wars movie. Tony Gilroy is Lucasfilm's unsung hero. I think he's a pretty sunk hero at this point. named after Tony Gilroy >> and how much we love him. Um yeah, I
hear that Rogue One's the biggest crowd-pleaser. >> It's got the closest ties to the OT. And Mr. Sinister 585 gave us five bucks uh and as a store member. Thank you for that. And said we need more Darth Vader.
It's time. They keep playing him. They keep him close to the chest. I would love an animated adaptation because live action is limited by physics. >> That's true. That's true. >> I'm sorry. No, please. I was just going
to ask Mr. Sinister 585 if that 585 is Rochester area code. Uh you don't have to super chat that in. You can save your money. But I just if it is, that's a great area code. >> Let us know. Let us know. Liz, um did we
you on for that? >> I was not, but I was on when we talked about Vader. Okay. Yeah, that's pretty much that that in animation in that show. I love the look of it, the painted aspect, the
look of it, the painted aspect, the realism to it. Um, just super badass. I again, the good Vader stories are in the comics, man. The ones that take place right after Revenge of the Sith, New Hope, and Empire Strikes Back are all
pretty phenomenal, and I kind of just want them to readapt those. But again, I love I think people should read more comics, but still. Um, it is weird to me. I I think I tweeted this a while back and um, yeah, Teddy, for $2, we did
front. We talked about that earlier. We were speculating on why he could be were speculating on why he could be there. Um, I am curious there. Um, I am curious um, why they chose to not just do a Luke
Skywalker show. Like that's the number one thing people wanted was like, "Yeah, let's show Luke after Return of the Jedi. Let's see what they were up to." and instead maybe because they were shy about
recasting but they didn't even do it in voice. They they did comics and books us all that. Do you guys have a take on that? >> I mean I this is my concern with Disney right now anyway is I think that they
might be getting a little too precious with these characters. I think that they might >> nervous primarily to do anything like would have made sense to do something with Luke, honestly, especially because
the sequels pissed people off because I think if we at least got to see more of him in his prime, that might at least ameliate a little bit of that. >> Sorry, Liz, I didn't hear you because my cat just came in and she's adorable and
it really threw me off. I'm really sorry. It's a live show. I apologize. That's very rude of me. I was reading a super chat and I looked at my cat. if I can get my cat. I'll be right back. >> I I don't know that there was a
question, but I agree with you uh that about the preciousness of it. I think >> Okay. >> It kind of can only lead to people becoming more the viewers becoming more precious about it. If Disney treats it
like that, then when inevitably they do decide to recast or reboot stories with new characters, people are going to be less open to it. And I also feel like I think I said this on a stream maybe last week or the week before. It's like when
they recast they have to stop or when they cast a younger version of someone apologetically and they have to do it with full forced enthusiasm. Like this is Luke Skywalker now. This is Luke Skywalker. Mark Hamill was incredible at
creating the character. We owe him everything previous to this man whoever the new person's performance is. But this is Luke Skywalker now. And not just like get to know him. You You're going to love him as much as you love Mark
Hamill. It's like don't even say Mark Hamill after the first announcement. Now this is Luke Skywalker. I'm so sorry that we all age and that time moves on. But it is a reality for everyone. >> And
>> Cat, do you have Cat? >> No, she keeps running. She keeps coming. She's like counting coup. She comes in and like messes at me and then runs away. I think because it's dinner time, but I it's not my job right now.
>> I was just gonna say that is so preferable to the uncanny valley that we >> Oh god. Yeah. >> That's the only part of Rogue One I hate. I just I don't like it at all. >> Now, neither of you are big Star Trek
back around to Star Trek, but um I keep bringing this up, but they did a thing bringing this up, but they did a thing with Star Trek uh 2017. They launched a new show called Strange New Worlds or sorry called Star Trek Discovery and it
looked everybody looked different. It was all shiny and stuff and different and old Trek fans didn't like it and new Trek fans don't exist. So no, you know, seasons and it spun off into a show called Strange New Worlds which features
the crew of the Star Trek Enterprise from classic Star Trek 10 years before the original show. >> So there's certain lore that we knew about the captain and what happens to him. And we knew that Spock was already
were some gaps that like comics and novels have filled in over the years. So excellent. It's called Strange New Worlds. As part of this, Spock was recast by Ethan. He's now played by Ethan Peek, who is the grandson of
to talk about it in interviews. And other one like one at a time, they are Enterprise crew recast with younger For the first time, Scotty's actually
played by a Scotsman, which is awesome. >> It's really cool. And the speculation was that they were going to wrap up Strange New Worlds and then give these guys their own show that shows the next five years, like leading up to the
original series. Uh, but they just tore down all the sets for Strange New Worlds it's probably not going to happen. But that's a great example of a fan base that readily accepted these new people just like they pretty much accepted the
the J.J. Abrams cast. >> Yeah, I think so. I mean, I feel like much more than Solo. When the J.J. Abrams Star Trek came out, people were like, "Yes, this is great." Uh, we like all of these people. Well, they did just
enough, I think, stunt casting of the original crew with like movie stars, like, you know, having Simon Peg play Scotty and, you know, Carl Urban playing McCoy, I think, were standouts for me personally. But like I I feel like I
don't know maybe maybe I'm maybe I'm having you know maybe I'm misremembering but I do feel like from the time Solo was announced to the time when was Alden Aaron Reich was cast as as young Solo there was like an era of like please
just trust us. Please just trust us. This is going to be good. I know that >> for the Abrams movies. You mean >> no I'm saying for when Solo a Star Wars >> Oh sorry difference between the J.J. Abrams movies coming out and being like,
"This is your new cast and crew of the Starship Enterprise versus when Solo, a different companies. It was kind of like, "Please hang in there with us. Let him win you over instead of just like and maybe I'm just maybe it's the
reaction and the reception is like sullying my memory of it, but it never felt it felt like Donald Glover is Lando Calverian was celebrated in that way." >> Yeah. But uh >> well, Star Trek 2009 2009 had we got
some news coming in too I want to tell you guys. But Star Trek 2009 um did a really important thing. There's one line of dialogue in it where they where and what's going on. And Zoe Zaldonov, who's playing Aurora in the
reality." >> And that one sentence just gave them permission to do whatever the hell they wanted with the continuity. Right? If you like this story, great. Continue it. If you don't, who cares? But I mean,
going back though, okay, so Star Trek three and four, right? They both uh take place on the bridge of this cleaning on ship that the crew whatever. It's they didn't know if they were going to
thing. Today, they'd get eviscerated, but back then nobody cared because Star Trek 4 was the best Star Trek movie. Uh got some more super chats and a couple bits of news that have come in. Not all the news is good. Unfortunately, um,
here's some good news. Conan O'Brien to return as host for the 99th Oscars, which is awesome. >> Um, when do the Oscars go to YouTube?
>> I'm looking. 2029. So maybe Conan will still be on ABC doing this for the hundth Oscars. He was great, man. I mean, that was these past couple years phenomenal. >> Yeah. All right. Here is the bad news.
So, they are talking about Ahsoka right now and uh in a video message, this is interesting. Sigourney Weaver introduced interesting. Sigourney Weaver introduced Ahsoka star rerio Dawson to the stage.
>> Now, Sigourney Weaver, tell us about that, Liz. Why is that significant? >> Yeah, so she is in Mandalorian and Grou. She's a new journal in that movie. >> And yeah, she work Yeah. So, I'm wondering if, you know, you just wrote a
the channel later this week, and you speculated about, well, I mean, at the end of Ahsoka season 1, Thrawn returns. Is is Thron going to be in the that's an indication this could happen? >> I mean, I think it would make a lot of
sense because you have this incredible villain who actually I think most of the fan base is behind because he is this great Legends character. He's back. Not everybody loved how that happened, but regardless, he's a big screen villain.
regardless, he's a big screen villain. He needs to be on the big screen. because he's never been on the big I mean, you have to introduce him on the big screen, and we're supposed to get that Dave Fona movie, right?
confirmation on this right now. So even though um Sigourney Weaver they're talking about Ahsoka and Rio Dawson is there, they've apparently shown some footage. However, according to Disgusting Film, the first
season, the second season has been delayed to early 2027. >> which four years after the original came out. Um however, I got another little interesting tidbit. Brie Larson is there
would expect because they're going to talk about Vision Quest, but now we're getting red carpet or blue carpet photos of Brie Larson. Um, wonder what she's necessarily mean she's going to be Carol Danvers again, but
Danvers again, but >> I don't know. I'm so up and down on I lot better. I thought it was too much emphasis on like telling us things about Carol instead of showing us. So, Liz, what do you think about Captain Marvel
>> Yeah, I have to agree. I mean, and they they were doing this thing where she was constantly not in the main story as well, which I think was an odd choice for her character. Um, like we saw that end game, too. She was like, I'm busy,
>> yeah, >> I understand being up up and down on Brie Larson. I think she's great. I know fantastic. But, >> Academy Award winner Brie Larson, Scott
Pilgrim, she had a great turn in Community as well. She's fantastic. Um, interesting stuff in the Marvels happened before it started. Like the idea of her like completely destroying a society. I was like, "Cool. Well, we've
where she deals with the aftermath. Let's see the dark second chapter where she actually does this." But instead, they tried to balance it with a million I said this when it came out I didn't love the movie but any movie that
features like a cat sequence sets to memory and an out of nowhere Disney memory and an out of nowhere Disney princess dance sequence I I I don't hate it could have been better though super doom sword gave us $10 very
generous said I thought we beck told you to hide your mama hide your wives someone going to get their hair swept to the side all handsome and his name is the side all handsome and his name is Jud I mean Mommy backto love the screen
>> All right. That got me hyped. >> Good. I what I do. I don't know. >> That was a You caught a great promo there. >> Bit of a hype man for you. Yeah.
you know, I would I would do the intro for them. So with chairs. You're a better uncle than I am. >> Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah. No, you went right there. Were they padded or
chairs. >> They weren't EVEN WRESTLING. HE WAS JUST >> Yeah, that's right. They weren't wrestling. They were playing Legos. But them up a little bit. >> They weren't wrestling. They were just
>> Wagon box said, "Can we get an Always on Break mug mug from a channel that shall not be named?" We don't have it on a mug, but we do have a kick-ass shirt I need to remember to link uh of Tommy uh on
break. And we have another one of Colton where he's like escaping from the He's >> Yeah. I'd always >> buddy, are you are you okay? Good. Uh >> buddy, are you are you okay? Good. Uh where he's escaping from the TV. And
where he's escaping from the TV. And Gavin Mullen gave us $5 and said, "I agree with Tommy's recasting point." Makes a great point here in season two. um in season two andor recast Bale Orana with Benjamin Brat. He did a fantastic
job and as he notes here and this is correct it was because of scheduling >> which is pretty cool to know. Um yeah that's absolutely true. So yeah you can do recasting but again you're talking about a side character technically they
recast Mothma and did more with her. Boba Fett recasting I don't know if everybody's on board with it makes sense within the universe but he didn't really get any accolades from Book of Boba Fett. But then again, even Tamura
Boba Fett. You know, he did interviews where he complained about how he wanted >> That's all right. >> I got to see him in person. Beautiful singer, by the way. If you want just lovely singing, you should look it up.
>> really, >> he's he's like electric in person. I saw Comic-Con and Disney related events and like, man, he got the crowd so hyped.
Yes. >> Yes. >> Amazing guy. >> All right, we have more news. Vision Quest is coming out, and this is not
really a surprise, in October. >> Um, and right now, um, Avengers stars reunite on the upfront stage. This is from ABC 6. Loki star Tom Hston spoke
Geographic Disney Plus documentary series, Surviving Pompei, with Tom Hiddston. Very funny. They had him do that because in Loki season one his character travels to Pompei. What other connection would Tom Hiddston possibly
>> Except one time. Yeah. One time he was on the volume and they were projecting show. >> It's always personal to me. Pompei, the tragedy of Pompei >> and Robert Downey Jr.'s there too right
now which is interesting. So I don't know. Uh, Vision Quest is going to premiere on Disney Plus on October 14th. And thus far, let me just check. We do not have a trailer. I don't know if they're going to release it yet.
I I kind of thought, let's What's the, you know, we're done. They usually will wait until after a series is done before showing the trailer for the next one. >> Um, maybe they are waiting till after X-Men 97 to publicly release the Vision
Quest trailer. Can I tell you guys what I saw in the Vision Quest trailer when I saw it? Yes, please. >> It was super cool. Um, a lot of it was not really telling a narrative, but Vision was confused. He didn't know like
who he was or like he left at the end of Wision to go figure his out. And the part of it that I remember the most, he goes into this house like it's like a King series Visions where he lives in the suburbs and he builds a family for
himself and they like live in a suburb of Washington DC. And it's it's an all-time best vision stories ever made. you have to read it. Um, so I think it's partly an homage to that, but also subconsciously, you know, Vision shared
like Mindstone Vision shared his memories with White Vision with Manise Vision and then he probably shared the memories of Westville. So he Vision has constructed in his mind this house that he goes into where he interacts with
members of his family. So that's why James Speder plays Ultron. It's why there are human versions of Dummy and of Edith and all these other AI that Tony Stark have created. So, it looks awesome. And Terry Matalis
to bring it back to Star Trek um is a Star Trek veteran and did Pequard season 3 and he's just phenomenal. Monty Gave us $5. Says, "Need a t-shirt with Colton escaping his TV the ring style." It exists, my friend. It's on the merch
store. We just always forget to link it. But speaking of merch, I want to show wanted this for May the 4th. It wasn't ready yet, but check this out. Bubba Fett, baby. >> Redneck Buba Fett. This one, I don't
know how well you can see the details on your guys's end, but if you look in the background, there's a pickup truck with the Slave One engines on it. Um, he's got a hat on that has the Hut Cartel symbol on it. It's the rifle from the
from the holiday special. There's just so many Easter eggs that the artist put into this. There's like a love for Star Wars in this that I just absolutely love. We do have a May the 4th sale going on all month long. It's 15% off
going on all month long. It's 15% off all Star Wars merch. Uh sorry, 15% off all Farway Galaxy Star Wars parody merch. And of course, I keep bringing this up, but if you join our members, like we just expanded our memberships at
like we just expanded our memberships at the $5 tier, we do exclusive videos. We is tomorrow night. We're going to be watching the X-Men with you guys. That's to be for everybody. And then we'll start doing members only the week after.
We are doing early access to some of our videos. And most importantly, a 15% merch store discount that you just get a code and you can just keep using it. care. We do care. Don't share with your friends, but if you do, I won't tell
anybody. It's fine. So that 15% will stack on top of everything for our other for our other items, right? So, we've got things like Star Wars merchwise. like this one, I know you're a Clone Wars fan. We can get this sent to you.
We've got I have friends everywhere. This one's brand new. It's a retro docking bay 94 shirt. Absolutely love this one. Says Scum and Villainy Welcome, The Apprentice Lives. Speaking of Ahsokaano, the Hello there t-shirt
and welcome Matt. I got one of those upstairs. I love this Darth Maul actually call it, but it's just so cool, man. I sometimes we get designs from an thought of that. That is just like such a really cool original design. Uh this
one, no one's ever really gone with the holographic dice from Last Jedi. And of course classics like the original trilogy, Darth Vulcan. If you get it, you get it. And Toshi Station power converter sale. And again, my new
one for myself. The Buffa Fett. I just love that shirt so much. Can I can I have an original trilogy shirt rush delivered to me so I can sit arms folded in the theater for Mandalorian and Grou and just LOUDLY GO THIS THIS ISN'T MY
STAR WARS EVERY few minutes or so ruining the experience for all of the >> You know what we also we have a prequel lot. >> Yes. Um, there's one. Okay, so we had
one for the sequel trilogy." And I came up with one, but the whole staff was good shirt." But here's what it was, right? You know that meme of like the >> Yes. Yes. >> You know, like three. Okay. So, it was
like a really good horse head and that had like the Roman numeral seven. And then the middle one would have been like like a a My Little Pony brilliantly colored rainbow Pegasus with like super detail and you with eight at the bottom
and then nine would have been the stick figure drawing of a horse because that's typical Star Wars movie, incredibly nuanced art film that has a lot to say and insists upon itself and then we got to get this movie done because they're
to get this movie done because they're launching the theme park ride and it's >> I like it. I also desperately need a hello there door. That will be I got to
>> It's really cool. >> Also, I just love what a what a good guy share it with your friends. Don't do it, BUT YOU CAN. WELL, I mean, what am I know. Like, >> but think about it. If they share, it
merch store. So, I I don't know. Like, it cuts into the margin. But >> We love you a little more, Ryan. That's all. That's all that did. me anymore. >> American Horror Story, American Horror
cast member. >> Angela Basset, Evan Peter, Sarah Pollson, Emma Roberts. I don't know this person. Gabri >> Oh, yeah. Gabby returning. She >> She was uh she was uh Precious in THE
>> OH. >> OH, OKAY. Hell yeah. Got it. And then Paul Anthony Kennedy who recently starred in that JFK Jr. Carol movie, which is pretty cool, >> man. Ryan Murphy loves using all using
his actors like action figures. just playing in different sets with him, like just being like, "You were in this for me, now you'll be in this." Story? >> I don't, but I was in an episode of
one of his reusable ed. >> You're in the cinematic universe. What >> Oh, I sang my little heart out to Girls on Film as the assistant to the photographer, uh, taking pictures of what's his name? Uh, the blonde guy who
played Sam. Cordover Street. I took a lot of pictures with him. Yeah. >> it's one of the worst reviewed episodes of all time. It was like the season premiere of episode five. It's And people hate it. They hate it so much. So
I really use it as a resume booster. But you can >> Well, I mean I mean were you bad in it? >> I was barely in it. I I wasn't in it long enough to be bad. I had like three lines and then I excused myself. But but
it went 18 hours so I got a lot of overtime pay and uh they had me dancing on a pole at one point. So, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. >> There you go. >> And that's what it was.
this earlier. I'm not going to spoil anything. Uh, I have seen Punisher: One Last Kill. >> Um, I will tell you that Colton messaged didn't like that very much." I was like, "Oh, okay. Shoot." And I watched it and
This is exactly what I want from a Punisher story." So the uh the live stream tomorrow where we talk about it should be really interesting. But our know we had a good conversation about it. So our Indian explain for that is
going to be up tonight around when's it dropping? 9:00. So around 10 10:30ish you'll see that. But um it's because look here's the thing about the Punisher with me. Speaking of I'm not precious about the Punisher. For me the Punisher
is he's not a nuanced character like Spider-Man or Tony Stark. You know, conflicting feelings of guilt and trying to live a real life and balancing and then there's this like deep irony to everything he does, right down to the
fact that he's trying to like seek out a father figure to replace Uncle Ben and villains. Like there's all these interesting nuances to Spider-Man. The Punisher is literally dead family kill people now. And that's
need a Chuck Norris movie in your life that's very straightforward and tells you what's up. And that's what Punisher One Last Kill is. It doesn't try to be much else. It sets up who he is, his mindset, and uh then you just get to
watch him absolutely go ham on a bunch >> I'm ready. What's not to love? >> I'm ready. I'm so ready for it. >> Reminds me a lot of um the Vader hallway fight. Remember how that was just like I
don't need to know anything else about Darth Vader. There's no nuance here. I just want to watch the big scary guy in black kick the out of people. And no news yet. I'm disappointed they didn't get a Vision Quest trailer, but
I'm not too surprised. >> Frankly, Ahsoka is kind of a bummer, man. I thought that was going to happen like now, like like this summer. >> Yeah, I expected it this summer, too. And I'm surprised because they wrapped
filming a while ago, so I really was expecting it. I mean, maybe they're one live action project that's actually confirmed. I I also like the the dreamer
in me wants to say like there's something in Mandalorian and Grou that they thought and they're like we got to get this into the show. We got to put this into uh Ahsoka season 2 somehow. So they're like, you know, maybe they're
beefing up something >> maybe. I wonder if they're still even going to make the Fona movie. All right, so Daniel RPK a while back um gave, you know, like it's he's a leaker, so take everything with a grain of salt,
whatever. But he um he said that internally they weren't looking to make Mandalorian season 4 anymore, which is funny cuz John Favro wrote it like it's it's ready to go. But he said that they are um oh we got a description of the
Vision Quest trailer from a commentary. I'll read you in a second. Um, anyways, they said that they are all in on just doing movies and if the movie doesn't do well, then no more Mandalorian and maybe no Dave Filona big
>> which >> I don't know if the crossover movie was ever a good idea. Maybe they're looking at how they've tried to bring movie characters to the big screen for Marvel and it hasn't worked out. And maybe
the Mandalorian because he's so popular, but if it doesn't work for that, there's no way it would work for Ahsokaano, who general audiences don't know." >> Do you think they'd ever do like a big budget animated featurelength movie
released in theaters that's Star Wars, or do you think that they'll just, this is just a hypothetical I'm throwing out like a quick conversation bomb. >> Would they ever do like a featurelength animated Star Wars movie that's like
Clone Wars, but I wouldn't say that had Wars, right? >> So, the movie is bad, but the show I >> Did the movie Did the movie release in theaters, though? I'm saying like like
this movie is coming out, you know, the masses find out. They start showing trailers and it's like, you know, akin to like a Pixar movie. >> Do you think they'd ever do that? >> Maybe. Am I Am I like Chris Farley in
>> No, no, no, no, no. I think it's a good idea. I just don't um remember there it was a dumb rumor that they were going to remake the original trilogy, but and stuff like that. >> I don't I don't remember.
>> yes, >> I I could see it for sure. I think they they would do it with. Well, I'm just wondering if there's a story that they can tell, you know, via, you know, in like an hour and 45 minutes with like,
you know, big voice actors and like, you know, you know, maybe get some of the match to the characters anymore back to voice their roles. And >> I don't know. I I listen, that's a free one, Josh. That's a free Dave, if you're
>> The main thing you said there is big budget. as a lot of people in the 2008 Clone Wars was released in theaters, but they took the TV show and the Ducktales movie and they gave it a film budget, you know, like they took
the TV show, they put they crammed it together and they put it in theaters to make some extra cash. Um, yeah, but Mask of the Fantasm is a great example that Unknown 869 just put out there. That is the best Batman movie and that was based
on animated series. I kind of feel like some of the stuff I'm talking about like so bloodthirsty but like a Luke Skywalker movie. That's my first thought is do that. But if they didn't do that, they would probably do
they would probably do Oh, I don't know. Um I keep going to like Wookies and Ewoks or some species like that. Frankly, I'm do because if Star Fighters and I think it's going to be a huge hit when that
hits, it's going to finally let Lucasfilm go, "Oh, okay. Wait a minute. maybe or Disney go yes maybe there is room for things that aren't original trilogy only maybe we can well it's too late for Hunt for Ben Solo but maybe we
continue >> you really believe it's too late for Steven Soderberg at his word that he will that he won't come back to it no matter what >> yeah be because he's Steven Soderberg
and he doesn't have to come back to it and I think he feels burned and I don't think they would have ever talked about it in public if it was still going to >> I don't think it was a tactic. >> It just makes sad.
>> It's It infuriates me. I don't understand what they were thinking when they shot that down to have Sodberg on it, to have Adam Driver signed on when I thought he was done with Star Wars. I'm sick of the whole thing. He was signed
on. I think that killing off the last, you know, bloodline Skywalker was such a wild thing to do. I'm so I'm so mad that that project didn't happen. >> Me, too. And well, we just don't What did Bob Iger say? We just don't see how
he's alive. Well, guess what, Suit? It's not your job. Um, we do have from the description from Vision Quest. It sounds different from what we looked at before.
article. After being delayed multiple times, Marvel's Vision Quest finally has will premiere on October 14th on Disney Plus and there's first footage of the show. For most of the footage, we see Bettany in his human form, same as the
trailer I saw, essentially watching Vision's memories like a film, which makes sense because that's what he's doing. He's trying to relearn who he is. vision that flew off at the end of Wanda Vision. He's been given his memories
he's trying to figure out his humanity once more, noting that he has none of the emotions that the first Vision had. And I should note straight from the comics where Vision was disassembled. Um had his memory and emotions wiped. And
it was basically John Burn torturing Wanda Maximoff. He took away Vision. He turned her kids into ghosts because he hated drawing babies. And then he had this importance that she was like a Nexus being.
fans got to look at the trailer for the series. Oh, wait. Nope. That's Hold on. Uh, yeah. Fans got to look at the trailer for the series in New York Comic- Con, which also revealed that Malikica, the guy who plays Tommy, will
be playing a grown-up version of Tommy, who is Vision of Wanda's son. Tommy briefly appears in this footage in Spader Taunts Vision that quote, "It's a boy." And that's huge because he was not in the Comic-Con footage that I saw.
the end of the series with Wanda bringing down her Westview Hex, but Agatha all along. Billy came back. So, we do see at the end of Agatha, we saw Tommy's spirit go into uh something else. Go into a kid uh like go into
another kid. Uh so, he survived or yeah, go into a kid that had just died and and came back to life. Um do you think that Billy and Agatha are going to show up in this because they left the series going off to look for him?
>> I hope so. What do you guys think? >> I really hope so. >> I think they will. >> I just feel like there's an opportunity to get Katherine Han back in and I want it. That's really my I think that I I
know she's a ghost now, but have is it the is it the crux of this that uh the her inhabit although I guess she can't be Katherine Han then? I don't know. But
just took yourself on a whole emotional journey about Katherine Han right there. >> No, it'll be like a shield and they'll build a life model decoy and then she'll >> Can I say I worked at a comedy club for a lot of years and we gave an award to
award to a lot of comedians and some of them were nice and some of them were shitty and she treated us like we were giving her like a an Academy Award like a legacy award. She was so sweet and she talked to all the staff like I was a
bartender and she made me feel special that night. So I will root for her in screen as possible. >> Was she a standup? >> No, this was just like her contributions to like when she had done steps like
just as a comedic actress. She was >> that. people. Sorry, Liz. >> I know. I was just going to say I love when I like somebody and then I get like a verified confirmation that they are
>> I will say just and I'll get off of this because this just sounds like I'm name dropping now. She helped us organize the chairs. She got there so early we were loose chairs. It was a small blackbox theater in LA, so like 120 chairs. We
she started helping us and we had to tell her she didn't have to do that because she was just giving us a hand. And the I when I tell you how rare that is for people that were way less famous than her, I just I have to say it was uh
>> I had a friend that was in a musical with her um when they were both coming up and said she was great even back then. So yeah, much love for Kathern Han. Right now they're on stage talking about FX shows, the Shards, Counter My
Li, Count My Lies for Hulu. Um and I guess I should have mentioned this earlier. Uh James Speder has a beard in Ultron. So, he's really playing like this kind of like fatherly grandfather figure. Um, I'm wondering how the hell
dancing around this, right? Because I don't if you remember Vision burned him out of the internet. Uh, and what I'm curious about, so there's one explanation here where I think, okay, he burned him out of the internet. Maybe he
absorbed some of his consciousness when that happened. Or maybe similar to everything else, it's more like Vision's memories of Ultron that have taken form. But then why are all these other AI like
Edith that maybe Vision never had a or Jakcasta who he didn't have like an interaction with, why are they in there? Maybe he's hooked himself up to an old Stark mainframe in order to remember who he is, which is similar to what Ultron
did, remember when he um when he gained consciousness. Yep. >> I just love how cerebral this is. I cannot believe we got a ship of Thesus reference in an MC. Like that was just
so awesome. And Quest is going to do a lot of the same which I'm thrilled >> You know, that's from a comic and I didn't know that when I It's one of these things like that was five years ago, right? And I still get pissed off
that I missed that reference in the Easter egg video cuz I could have done a quick Google but I was trying to rush it out. And now, you know, we usually will catch an Easter egg?" or "We'll we'll do it the next episode." But that was the
next episode and say, "Here's this really cool Easter egg." So, I think I >> But that's one thing I love about this job, man. Like the comments and people like especially in our Discord server who um you could use the phrase calling
you know things. We started off with a guy tonight calling us liars, >> which you know happens sometimes. Uh, but you can't lie when you're just wrong >> True. Good point. I'm gonna I'm gonna start saying that to I'm not lying. I'm
>> I'm just uninformed. >> Yeah, I'm just an uninformed. >> Yeah, I'm just an uninformed. >> I'm only ignorant the screen crush way. >> Speaking of ignorant, I've been ignorant about the clock and I I do have to step
>> All right, man. >> I just wanted to say hello. Say goodbye to everyone, especially you two, Liz and Ryan. I've enjoyed our time together. >> We'll miss you, Tom. Oh, Tommy, wait a minute. Don't you have to go?
>> Oh, shoot. Darn Dixon. I got to get out of here. Sorry, guys. Thanks. I'll be there, Janet. Settle down. >> Shoot darn Dixon. Okay, see you later. >> That's the curse word me and my niece made up so that we didn't have to
actually, we say that instead of the f word. Okay, >> I love that. All right. Byebye. All right. Well, Liz, then there were two. I'm just looking um if anyone else is ready to join in. One second. Hold on
one second here. Um yeah, we might get a couple other people joining us in a bit. Just one second. Let me send out a link or two. Um one minute.
Liz, are you excited about The Mandalorian and Grou? >> I am. I am. I'm I'm nervous just because I think as with any new Star Wars project, there's going to just be backlash that's inevitable. Um, but I'm
excited. I don't know. I never remember how much I'm supposed to or allowed to say, which is not good in the line of work that I have, but I am getting to well. >> And I am not because I am gonna I I may
Springsteen's that night. It's like this concert I've wanted to see my entire life and I can't go. I I just It's the excited to see a Star War in theaters for the first time in seven years, but
baby, I got to see The Boss. Um I'm beyond excited for that. >> The third person I know who I would love to have been there and cannot make it. think. >> Well, they usually do two showings a
and then there's an evening show for press screenings. and um they're not doing that. So, a little bit of news. Avatar Fire and Ash is going to be on Disney Plus on June 24th. That's pretty cool. And there's a new Hulu series
starring Claire Claire Danes and Owen McGregor. New Hulu series called The show? >> Oh my gosh, I have not. >> You really need to see it. It is great. And there's uh season
three or four all of the sudden, I can't remember. McGregor's in it and he plays identical twins, but you know, one of them is he puts on makeup for one. Man, when I see an actor do that, like Mark Ruffalo did the same thing for that HBO
miniseries takes place in upstate New York. Incredible, man. Like when you see same guy. Even Michael B. Jordan Centers. How an actor can do that. Absolutely blows my mind. >> Yeah. Yeah. I have to check it out. I
love him. I love you, McGregor. >> I'm surprised he's not the big star. He's somebody who's like he's a triple threat. He can sing, dance, act. He's great in action movies. He's super charming. Seems like a super nice guy.
Maybe maybe the most critical film of our lifetime was Michael Ba's the island starring McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. Because if that movie would have been a huge hit, maybe he's never the black mask and Birds of Prey.
I honestly and it's so funny to me when people love Star Wars but don't know him through this whole discovery pro. I mean his talent is just and and the satine of >> I know. That's my favorite part. It's so good they did that.
>> All right. You But okay, you mentioned backlash about the Mandalorian and Grou. They put out this first trailer that looked like uh Pugoo, right? That just have these stark visuals. It didn't connect to the greater saga. I thought
the last trailer that we did, I we did a reaction to it when it came out. I thought that was great. That was the one that they Yeah. that they showed during Cineacon. That's the That was the honeypot right there. Um I don't I'm
I think this is a movie that's being perceived as for kids more. I don't >> That's specifically what I've heard people complain about actually is that it's just going to be geared toward children, which I don't necessarily
and kids love Grou, >> but I do think this is going to be I mean, it's it's sort of return to the big screen in almost seven years. So, I big screen in almost seven years. So, I think it is going to be a substantial
>> movie and it's the first really close look we've gotten at the New Republic specifically. We've dabbled in it with Ahsoka. We've dabbled in it with the Mandalorian show, but I feel like we're actually to get to see and it's clearly
flawed because, you know, they don't they don't do well ultimately. So, >> well, what did you what did you think about um those episodes of The Mandalorian season 3 that focused on the New Republic?
more in I season 3 was a let down. I I know I'm very much not alone in that, but season 3 was a bit of a let down to me. I was more interested in the stuff that Ahsoka did with showing how much of a schism
there already was uh with >> I think that >> All the stuff with the different leaders and not wanting to let them go attack and not wanting to let them go attack Thron. Um I the episode with uh Persing
on Coruscant where we see this guy who's actually trying to be reformed but then he his whole existence in the Republic is undone by this formal Imperial. I >> That's true. That's >> Yeah. And maybe it's not an episode of
about season 3. You'd have half the episode is that half the episode is this. And there's rumors that like basically John Favro started the Mandalorian and anytime especially with Star Wars when something gets popular
with a corporation suddenly everybody's got to come along and raise a leg on it, right? So I think he had something he wanted to do and maybe Fona came in and he said, "Oh, I I do I want to do some more stuff with these." And then um and
then Lucasfilm says, "Great. Figure it out, guys. Go do your thing." I think I've >> also heard that. >> Oh, no, please. I was just going to agree with what you were I I think
season 3 was was frustrating because at times it felt similar to the sequels for me and that it felt like they were kind of grasping at straws at certain. I of grasping at straws at certain. I mean, I am those who uh I was not happy
mean, I am those who uh I was not happy with the Jack Black and Liz cameos. I thought that was the goofiest thing I've ever seen. It does. It does take you out and going, "Well, that's Jack Black and Lizo." You know,
>> it felt a little bit more Go ahead. >> Oh, I was just gonna ask what you were >> Well, I was I don't know if you've ever seen this. Like, we've all seen the Star Wars Holiday Special and there's that weird scene with Be Arthur in the Star
the first time the other day. One of our Discord users sent me this. Richard Prior on one of his specials did a similar bit where he was a bartender in a Star Wars bar. And it's hilarious, but that to me is kind of what the Lizo
Black Jack Jack Black thing was. Those scenes were distracting, but Christopher Lloyd as the separatist sympathizer. What do you think of that? Lloyd. No, I thought that totally worked and it was really interesting to see
them in contrast to one another in the same episode. Yeah, I completely agree. into the role and disappear into the universe whereas, you know, Jack Black and Lizard were huge stars who you can't be it's like if Madonna showed up in a
>> Um >> I just wrote about um apparently I don't are going to be in Attack of the Clones. Do you know about this? >> I did. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I thought they filmed them. Did they not film them?
>> Did they filmed them and then they were going to be in the Battle of Geos? I did not know that. And that is, >> oh, see, as an old school reader of sites like ain'titcool.com, I was right there for the a front seat to all that
backlash. Um, it's funny because they did film it. So, when I saw the movie, I Insync looked like. I think I kind of knew Justin Timberlake. So, I was Jedi with long hair and a beard. I thought, "Oh, that's the guy." Because I
So, that footage exists. There was even an SNL sketch about it when it was >> No. Well, it's interesting, too, because Lance Bass and Justin Timberlake were going to use. So, I don't know what
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know >> who are the others. I don't know any other members of InSync. Weird. And you got to remember at the Timberlake, he's he's buff. He's put on some muscle. You could kind of see him
playing a Jedi, but at the time, these guys are like my size, you know? They're all like skinny dudes, you know, doing their thing on stage. and Justin the end of one video and that's about it, you know, like nothing. You would
that was the big distraction they had. had to go through fight training. They did for real lightsaber training. >> Oh, yeah. So, that is made me pretty mad.
They grew up with Star Wars. You get a chance to do this. Uh, I kind of thought chance to do this. Uh, I kind of thought Lucas was doing it just to get like te tween girls into the audience. You know, that's a cynical way to look at it.
relationship with his kids, maybe Katie just really liked the band. >> So, >> well, what else did you discover in your article about that? So, I was talking about uh mostly the
backlash to it because I think it's really interesting that they backpedalled and took it out because especially during the prequel era, I mean, they were getting backlash for everything all the time. So, I was a kid
at the time and I I don't remember it, but it must have been a pretty heated >> Yeah. Yeah, >> it was. Yeah. Go check out the uh I mean, you can still find it. go on sites like ain'tit.com and look up that story
underneath it. I mean, it's like it goes on and on. The AV Club article probably also has those comments on it. Like not been erased. Some of it's been preserved through like the way back machine and
through like the way back machine and things like that. No news yet, but we're still checking it out. I remember where I was, speaking of prequels, I remember where I was the first time I heard that Samuel L. Jackson was going to be in a
Samuel L. Jackson was going to be in a Star War. And my friend had web TV. None this box you put on top of your television that had a modem that ran to television that had a modem that ran to it. So we would read text websites on my
friend's television on his like tube television. And when we read that, I was like, your your mind kind of explodes with possibilities. But I pictured him in like an Imperial uniform >> because no, we didn't know what they
looked like. We did the word Padawan actually did not exist at that point. something that's true of Star Wars, but the prequels really did establish so much lore that people love. >> Um, no, no wonder the backlash, you
know, ran back over the years. >> I mean, yeah, we had no onscreen context for the Jedi order. I mean, they had to do so much, so many traditions and rules had to be established and it had to be established so quickly. Now, I I do
think honestly I think this is something that is imminent with Star Wars. I think they are going to do something with Mace Wendu. I really do. I mean, Samuel >> You think he survived?
>> I hope not. I'd hate that. I hate when Jedi survived Order 66. I think it's so >> I think they are going to do something with I mean, Samuel Jackson has been years. I think every chance he gets, he talks about how many do has to be alive.
Um, and I I suspect >> the man can't even run anymore. I don't know. Okay. if he's alive. There's And I say that because contractually he puts that in his contract, so he doesn't want to run. Um,
where would Okay, this is a fun game and this is good for the comments, too. Where would we want to see Mace Wendu pop up again? And I'm talking about the Jedi Mace Wendu and not the character from the Ewok Adventure TV movie from
the 80s. Where do we want to see him pop up? >> Why was he in hiding? Why didn't he come out? It would have to be the dark times, right? It would have to be pre-OT and I think he would have to actually actually
think he would have to actually actually be dead by then. So maybe he I don't know. I I can't see a way that's not a problem. Um I guess the argument he lost an arm. He was he you know the force lightning
people have also you know been electrocuted and lived to tell the tale obviously. Um, and then we see Jedi over and over again manage to grab onto something while flying through the uh the air. So, right.
>> But I mean, the guy was pretty jacked up. I mean, not only did he have his hand cut off, which Luke survived, you know that, but I don't know, man. all this dark side electricity and getting thrown out of a very very very
tall building into flying car. I think he got splattered on a windshield. I don't think he lives. But if he did live,
the force >> because we've seen that happen where ability. >> Um, okay, now I got it. Here's my favorite way Mason could live, right? They keep him alive. They they found his
body and he's so his bones are broken. is basically pulp, but they keep him alive like a Judithcope. So, his force energy would attract other Jedi and pull them toward him. We were talking about this um on our our chat. It's kind of
like how um people will keep deer on their property and buildings and then they harvest their piss to sell to hunters so they can draw deer in. It's kind of like that. I think Mace Wendu became deer piss um after when he
survived. And if you any of you in these super chats or comments think that Mace Wendu is dear Biss, let me know. And if you need further explanation on what you in. Let's just check on the news real quick. See what else is happening.
The Grammys are coming to ABC in 2027. That's nice. Um, they're going to keep doing the Grammys through 2032, which is really cool. No news on Marvel Star Wars Star Wars news. >> I don't think so either.
>> I don't think so either. >> I think that's it. It's crazy to me that >> that's Star Wars TV that they come in now and say next year. >> I mean, I have to assume Star Wars Celebration is going to have a lot in
2023, pretty much everything they announced didn't come true. So, >> And there's not a celebration until next year, right? I don't think they're having it this year. >> Yeah. Yeah. um LA next year, which that
was a a whole kurfuffle, too. People were not happy. The ticket sales were like a nightmare apparently. So, that just happened last week. >> Yeah, I was on a a group text where everybody was trying to buy them and
time. I don't know if they do press, but boy, I'd like to get a press pass. I've >> Me neither. >> They go, but they won't. Not until next into any of that? >> No. No, they wouldn't do it then. And
it's it's not near where I live. I'm on the wrong coast. So, I think um it's not the wrong coast. So, I think um it's not like a super important thing for me to stuff. But
>> uh the one the other thing too is like I can never do Comic-Cons because they the Fantastic 4 and the Deadpool and Wolverine release. I can't make it out to LA or San Diego uh for any of this stuff because they just put it out the
would really appreciate it if they would stop doing that and think about me when events more. >> Did I tell you I was just in Comic Con at Comic- Con in Naples, Italy? >> No. What was that? You told me you were
What was that like? >> It was It was really cool. I got to talk to Troy Baker, who was absolutely fantastic. He was very interested to >> Seems like he would be. Yeah. >> Yeah. I got to talk to Don Rosa, the uh
Scrooge McDuck uh comic. Don Rose is still alive. >> You're kidding me. >> Yep. I right? Tell everybody who he is. I'm going to go get something to show you
>> Absolutely. Yeah. So, Troy Baker did The Last of Us. He's Jonesy in Fortnite. He just did Indiana Jones. He is in so many things. I mean, his if you look at his IMDb, it is absolutely stacked. But he's he's best known for Joel in The Last of
know, did a lot of the other work behind the scenes for that. I couldn't find it. I own a really kick-ass hardbound volume of Don Rosa's Scrooge McDuck comics. And the reason I
got it is because those comics were very influential to George Lucas when he was a kid. They inspired Indiana Jones because that's and uh and the first like okay so when George Lucas came up with Indiana Jones he had this idea that he
would be like a globe trotting treasure hunter like that was his whole thing and Spielberg was the one who was like no he's more of an archaeologist who thinks things belong in a museum but that's why with Temple of Doom they compromised and
in Temple of Doom it takes place before Raiders and Indiana Jones keeps talking about fortune and glory fortune and glory kid and at the end of it He which of course sets him up for his story in Raiders of the Lost Arc. Little
Indiana Jones Scrooge McDuck fun fact for you there. >> Well, and and Troy Baker just voiced Indiana Jones. And apparently Harrison Ford spoke very highly of him, which is not necessarily
Harrison Ford. He said there's no need to do AI of his voice when Troy Baker is interesting. >> Did Troy Baker do his voice in the new Yep. >> It was out. I swear to God, I thought
you? >> I have not played it yet. No, but I will say Troy Big I mean what a talented guy and he has like a very he has a presence to him. So that that was really cool. Um yeah, and Don Rosa was great as well.
>> I met a couple people um once again talking about Star Trek. I was at the Bicard season 3 premiere and I met a couple people who do who did mocap for Ashley Johnson. and it wasn't them, but they're also in Critical Role like with
them. And um it was really cool to like meet them in person. Man, the people who do like the mocap and the voice acting are usually some of the nicest actors in thrilled. You know who they are. >> Yep. Yeah.
>> All right. Still nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Still talking about TV shows, stuff like that. I am still anticipating we will get something about X-Men 97 here.
soon. Um, but we don't have any updates on stage just yet. But, you know, we these live streams. Do you know what Al Capone's vault is? Do you know this >> No. >> So,
um, I know this because my history teacher in high school showed us this like had videotaped this Heraldo Rivera special. And before Heraldo Rivera, I him as like a Fox News commentator, but he was a talk show host and he would do
who did these sensationalist things like the Mory Povich and Jerry Springer and heraldo for that kind of thing. So he did this live TV thing, right, where it
was live like just like we're doing right now. And apparently in Chicago they had found some property that Al Capone owned and there was like a part of it that they had not entered. There was like this concrete wall and they
were going to dig in there and find Al Capone's vault. So it's this big thing. Now it wasn't just people digging. There were uh all of these historical segments about Al Capone. This is why my history teacher showed us this. So, he showed us
Burns style documentary parts to teach us about it. Um, we Oh, we got a question right now. Are we going live tomorrow for the DC news for their upfront? Probably not.
Probably not. Uh, because tomorrow we're doing a live about the Punisher and the boys. Anyways, they did this whole thing about Alapone and they get they're they're going to break down the wall and they get back there and it it's just
literally nothing. just trash. Like the only way it could have been worse is if it would have had like modernday trash back there. Like some kids had snuck in and left like cigarettes and stuff. Isn't the absolute one of the like most
notorious live. So every time we do a live like this it's around an event. We did it for Cineacon. I'm always like well we just don't know. We don't know are a little bit more geared toward television. So it's usually like the
other side of the coin from Cineacon which was a few weeks ago. But we will see. We will see. >> I mean, the Ahsoka news was significant. I I'm really I'm quite surprised by that. But
>> I'm really surprised they didn't release the vision and I don't want to just things they didn't do, but I'm really surprised the Vision Quest trailer wasn't released at the same time. >> Yeah. Especially because I mean October,
it would be reasonable for it to for it to come out now. The only thing I can think is maybe they're saving it for Comic-Con. Um, but to a live event. They just wrapped up a
perfect time to keep that momentum going. Maybe they'll do it after the Punisher special goes up tonight, which by the way, I know I said this earlier, everybody to watch it and watch our video on it, which will be out later
this evening. Just refreshing for some more news real quick. touched in Star Wars you would really like to see them do a a special or a
for people in the chat, too. Let us know what you guys think. high on my list. I think that is a character that they just have not character that they just have not explored enough. Um, but I would also be
really interested to see them do more with the High Republic era. I mean, I acolyte and the thorny things that happened there, but you have those books and there's so much to pull from. I think it would be interesting to do more
with that era on screen, be it live action or or in animation. I don't know action or or in animation. I don't know if they will. Um, but even acolyte was Menace, so the closest we have is Young Jedi Adventures, which I don't think any
any grown-up is watching. >> I've tried. I'm such a completionist. Um >> I've tried. I'm such a completionist. Um h so I I couldn't get through that and I Resistance. Not because I hate it. It's just like it's fine. There's better
stuff out there. I kind of prefer Star Trek Prodigy if I'm honest with you. watch nerd culture shows that I don't have to watch for work. That's kind of characters from Resistance that like were in Ahsoka like the senator, you
know, the young version of the senator and that's pretty cool. Cass is his son and stuff from the show. Um, we got Oh, got some good suggestions here. We have General Grievous movie, which again has been covered in novels. It is kind of
been covered in novels. It is kind of weird that in the prequels it's like and then here's Count Dooku. And then, well, you haven't heard of Count Dooku? He's the Revenge of the Sith, it's like, here's General Grievous. Here's a little
here's General Grievous. Here's a little bit of lore that I love. You know how um bit of lore that I love. You know how um you know how in Revenge of the Sith when Anakin says, "General Grievous, you're taller than I expected." I love that
the Clone Wars. >> Isn't that cool? >> Yes. The amount of narrative maneuvering, but thank God for the Clone Wars because yeah, Grievous is such a cool villain. He wields multiple
lightsabers. He's not a Sith. And they he was so brief if it was just the prequel. So, the Clone Wars really did so much more with that character. And it's hilarious that he could never they interact, but they're never they never
see each other, which is so funny. >> And the Clone War Well, not in person. Yeah. The Clone Wars also did so much heavy lifting to make the prequels >> Yeah. >> Like that that show made made banking
know how they did that, but it was such a compelling narrative. Um, we've got somebody said, uh, King Zero gave us R-rated Darth Vader. I think that would just get old. I really do. Like I kind of think that that would that that's why
the the comic works so well with Dr. AFA because it gave Vader somebody to bounce off of. >> Yeah. Calcastus. I don't know, man. Do you think that they intended for him to move
over to live action given that the Yeah, >> I agree though. I He's such a popular character. I think it would be really foolish to not do something with him. Um, and I think that the the actor's name Cameron Monahan, I think he I think
>> I would love >> Well, he did a commercial with Mark Eats commercial, wasn't it? Where like they're doing mocap and he's showing him >> Yes. >> Excuse me. Um, Mark Hamill's done mocap
characters and stuff before. He's like suited up and and done all that. He just seems like an allaround great sport. Um, let's see here. let's see here. And one second. I'm just checking some
news here. Nope. The latest is still talking about the Grammys. Let me make sure they haven't ended. One second.
Um, let me see. A couple more comments here from other people. We've got Super chat from Spaceman Texas gave us $2. Buddy cop comedy with Ray and Grou.
Hey, I 100% think they are going to do stuff in the future with Grou as a character, right? Like even if they do like 500 years in the future, Grou would >> Yeah. And I think they're honestly the most recent teasers have been setting
that up, right? because it's a lot of Den talking about how Grou has to has to live beyond him. He has to be ready to go on without him, right? So, I think >> absolutely setting that up. Yeah. >> Well, I mean, I can drop some Again, I
people. I have no idea if this is true or not. or not. I've heard that of Boba Fett thought they were working on The Mandalorian season 3 and that The
Mandalorian season 3 was originally going to be The Book of Boba Fett, but then a certain actor maybe didn't like being on set every day
when he couldn't emote with his face. So, they had to scale things back and maybe take some of the Boba Fett episodes and turn them into a series. Um, can't really say more without revealing
who might have told me that. And again, these are just rumors that I hear, but watch something like The Book of Boba Fett and you go, "How did that happen?" And I'm kind of a defender of the show. I don't think it's
not good. and you go, "How the hell did a professional storyteller like Robert Rodriguez create that?" And that kind of stuff rings true to me. >> Yeah,
that was I mean just a huge fumble for Star Wars and it's shocking because it's that that show really just should have been such a slam dunk and I I just find it a bit boring to be honest. Like I it's just a bit of a slog to get through
for me. >> Well, it is because every episode's the same. every episode is featuring a flashback that tells a pretty compelling story, but doesn't weave into the rest of the show in a narrative way that
makes sense. It's not like he encounters a problem and then remembers his past that problem." So, they never actually establish the character's motivation and he spends how I think it's four times in the show when he and Finnick Shand are
the show when he and Finnick Shand are like, "Let's go to town." like, "Let's go to town." >> Well, you want to take a car? No, we walk. We walk to town. We don't let them carry you. Well, you have a jetpack uh
You have cool bikes you could be riding in. But some of the lore they did in that show. I love the mods. I love how they are like British mods from the 70s, but they're called mods because of the robot stuff. I love the dumb turn that
one guy does in the last fight. I love the Rancor. I love Cursantin. I love all that stuff, man. Like, there's so much in there to love. But it's also a bit of a cluster >> Love that.
>> All right, checking on some latest news real quick. Bear with me. Super chat This is strange because I don't have any confirmation that it has ended, but
we do have um the last news is 20 minutes ago, >> so I'm wondering if they did call it. That's kind of weird. All right, one second. ABC 6 News in Philly. Okay. No, Olivia Rodrigo is now
performing at the Disney Upfront, which kind of tells me that's the closer. And stage by Jimmy Kimmel and his 11-year-old daughter, which is very nice. He was in New York, I think, to be on the Co Bear show. And
then he's not going to um when Co Bear's last show is soon, but I like that that night because he thinks that Co Bear should have the time to himself, which just makes Jimmy Fallon look like an
frankly. All right, Liz. Uh, we didn't get a trailer to react to. I think Rodrigo is on right now. Sorry to everybody watching. I know the thumbnail said like every reveal, but we didn't get one. This is Al Capone's vault. I'm
stream up, but we'll probably change the thumbnail tomorrow morning. I want to remind everybody we do have this kickass new uh It makes me laugh every time I Liz, I want to thank you for coming on and talking to us. Uh especially when we
end again. It's just always nice to see you and I'm looking forward to seeing >> Absolutely. I will see you soon. >> All right. And we'll come up with a nickname for you soon. Bye. All right. I always do that. I always cut people off
a second. I'm so sorry I cut you off mid. I just It's It's I didn't do it on purpose >> that time. I did it on purpose because hear from you guys. Uh what are you looking forward to next? What's the
Disney project you're looking forward to? Why didn't they show the X-Men 97 but I am pumped that Vision Quest actually has a release date so I can your thoughts on this down in the comments below or find me on Twitter,
